He's only gone and done it again. The serial winner himself, John Robins, the narrative bender, has won yet again. Despite not even really liking football, John just can't help being John, and he's done something on the football pitch worthy of an end-of-tournament emotional BBC sports montage that makes Elis cry. If anything feels significant, this does.John's footballing escapades are recounted with the help of friends of the show Annie McGrath and Rick Edwards, but there is debate about whether the word ‘bundled' should be bandied around as much as it is.Elsewhere it's textbook Elis and John as Elis gets excited about a man from Sunderland saying the word ‘school', and John wonders what happens to our memories when we die. Classic stuff.Lastly, after a peach of a mad dad story, there's 100% consensus for the sentence: ‘you have to read the instructions on a chainsaw'.Do you want to contribute to the great cannon of Elis and John? You can, just email elisandjohn@bbc.co.uk, or WhatsApp the show on 07974 293 022.

What if cloud storage could be simple, transparent, and genuinely affordable? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I sit down with Tommi Kannisto, founder of StoreEra, a company based in Estonia that's redefining the way businesses approach object storage. I first met Tommi during the IT Press Tour in London, where StoreEra's fresh perspective on S3-compatible cloud storage stood out for all the right reasons. In our conversation, Tommi shares the journey behind building a hyper-converged cloud storage platform that challenges conventional thinking. From eliminating hidden fees to maximizing performance on traditional spinning disks, StoreEra is built around an ethos of doing more with less. The platform's architectural simplicity allows for efficient scaling, reliable performance with small files, and an operational model that avoids complexity by design. Tommi also walks us through how StoreEra handles everything from data durability to sovereignty, with data centers already operating in Estonia and the Netherlands. With growing demand from regions focused on local control of data, we explore the opportunities emerging from geopolitical shifts and increasing global focus on sovereignty. Estonia's digital-first culture and its thriving startup ecosystem form the backdrop to this innovation, and we discuss how a small country has produced more than its share of tech unicorns. As we look to the road ahead, Tommi gives insight into how AI might soon play a role in optimizing read and delete operations to push storage efficiency even further. He also touches on the growing interest in StoreEra from companies seeking alternatives to US-based hyperscalers, and how demand from across Europe is shaping their expansion plans. If you're exploring options beyond the cloud giants or curious about what's brewing in Europe's fast-growing tech scene, this episode offers a fresh, founder-led view of the storage market. Let me know what resonates with you. Are you considering new storage strategies in light of data locality or cost pressures? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Here are three common ways employees might try to take advantage of their boss: Employees might repeatedly show up late, leave early, or call in sick without valid reasons, assuming the boss won't enforce strict attendance policies. Some employees may overstate their contributions or take credit for ideas and projects resulting from teamwork or someone else's efforts. Employees might try to do the bare minimum while seeking raises, promotions, or other benefits, relying on their boss's goodwill or lack of close oversight. 1. Frequent Absences or Late Arrivals2. Solfate Podcast - Interviews with blockchain founders/builders on Solana
GenesysGo is transforming decentralized storage with Shadow Drive, a fast, secure platform built on Solana, designed to rival traditional cloud solutions. And they are building it using mobile phones.Full notes for this episode at: https://solfate.com/podcast/64Follow @SolfatePod on Twitter for updates: https://twitter.com/SolfatePodPS: We are happy to announce the launch of our Solfate Drip channel where you can collect Solfate Podcast episodes as digital collectibles! They then expanded to provide RPC network support and became the largest provider of RPC services on Solana.Shadow Drive addresses the storage challenges faced by validators by storing Solana's ledger history. The platform has grown to have an average of 130,000 daily active users.Decentralized storage offers cost savings in terms of bandwidth costs compared to centralized storage providers. Shadow Drive achieves this by leveraging the collective power of the network. The platform aims to decentralize revenues and distribute them to the operators of the network, providing a disruptive and cost-effective alternative to traditional storage providers. Shadow Drive V2 is a decentralized cloud storage platform built on the Solana network. The platform is designed to be resource-efficient and capable of running on mobile phones. It operates on a consensus algorithm that allows for censorship resistance and decision-making by the network consensus.Shadow Drive V2 leverages Solana as a base layer for identity, payment, and other functionalities. The platform aims to decentralize revenues by directly passing user fees to network operators.Find Frank and GenGo onlineFollow Frank on twitter - @Frank_theTraderFollow GenesysGo on twitter - @GenesysGoFollow us aroundNicktwitter: @nickfrostygithub: github.com/nickfrostywebsite: https://nick.afJamestwitter: @jamesrp13github: github.com/jamesrp13Solfate Podcasttwitter: @SolfatePodmore podcast episodes: solfate.com/podcastcollect episodes on Drip: drip.haus/solfate
