Siviløkonom Ole Østlid driver nettstedet verstat.no, der han publiserer værstatistikk og uavhengig, gravende journalistikk. Han følger medienes rapportering tett, og bare den siste tiden har han sett en rekke absurde nyhetssaker som bygger på grove faktafeil. Saken om varmerekord i India på 52,3 grader var en av dem. Norske nyhetsmedier hev seg på og publiserte videoer og bilder av indere som kollapset i varmen. Det de valgte å ikke rapportere, var at indiske myndigheter kom med en pressemelding om at denne målingen mest sannsynlig var feil. Den var gjort ved en relativt ny og ubemannet målestasjon. De fire andre målestasjonene i området viste signifikant lavere temperaturer på mellom 45,8 og 47,6 grader. Østlid har også observert en komisk nyhetstrend i å - mediene kaller det varmeste hittil i år for «rekord». Selv meteorologisk institutt har byttet ut gode, gamle «mot normalt» med ordet «ekstremt», dersom temperaturene som observeres er utenfor normalområdet mellom 1991 og 2020. Østlid vet ikke om denne feilinformasjonen resultat av en ekkoboble med for ensrettet tankemåte, eller om det er desinformasjon, altså en bevisst villedning for å oppnå en agenda. Da han startet verstat.no, tok han for gitt at mediene ville være opptatt av sannhet og av å korrigere egne feil. Han erfarer imidlertid at de er lite interessert i å ta selvkritikk og at de mange ganger unnlater å svare på henvendelsene hans. Tallene om Tyskland taler deres klare sprog. Tyskland er med godt 80 millioner indbyggere Europas mest befolkningsrige land. Det er verdens tredjestørste eksportør, fjerdestørste økonomi og syvendestørste forbruger af energi. Tyskland er også på en europæisk andenplads i forhold til at have flest ambassader rundt omkring i verden. Og endelig er Tyskland også hjemsted for en af verdens mest avancerede forsvarsindustrier. Tyskland har med andre ord alle forudsætninger for at være lidt af en udenrigspolitisk superspiller. Men… Tyskland er kun netop i top-25 af verdens militært mest slagkraftige lande. Det tyske forbundsværn mønstrer kun verdens 36. største militær målt i antal væbnede styrker. Tyskland er ikke permanent medlem af FN's Sikkerhedsråd og har ingen atomvåben eller sågar hangarskibe. Tyskland har i årtier spillet en både defensiv og ofte nølende rolle på den udenrigspolitiske scene. Men det skal være fortid, hvis det står til den nuværende tyske regering under ledelse af Olaf Scholz. Panelet diskuterer, om det overhovedet er rimeligt eller tilrådeligt at operere med overholdbare finanser – ”pengene skal tilbage til skatteyderne”, siger analysechef Otto Brøns-Petersen. Forskningschef Karsten Bo Larsen er stærkt kritisk over for regeringens netop fremlagte sundhedsreform, der kun tildeler området et beskedent beløb, og i øvrigt fremlægger en plan for decentralisering i form af en række nærsygehuse efter en lang periode med krav om og gennemførelse af centralisering. Kåringen af Ugens Lyspunkt og Ugens Skævert er knyttet til selvsamme sundhedsreform, idet formand for DSU Frederik Vad bliver kåret som Ugens Lyspunkt for sin skarpe kritik af regeringens forslag om forbud mod salg af alkohol til unge under 18 år, mens sundhedsminister Magnus Heunicke bliver Ugens Skævert for sin svage retorik om samme emne og for et generelt skuffende sundhedsudspil. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens, male sex hormones that are usually present in women in small amounts. The name polycystic ovary syndrome describes the numerous small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) that form in the ovaries. However, some women with this disorder do not have cysts, while some women without the disorder do develop cysts. In this episode we're in conversation with Tallene and her husband Sirak: Tallene is a PCOS Weight Loss registered dietitian and a strong believer of the fact that you don't just have to live with PCOS, because you can thrive with PCOS. She was diagnosed at age 18, and was left worried and confused without much information or guidance from her practitioner. Unsatisfied with the generally accepted belief that birth control is the only way to manage a PCOS diagnosis , Tallene decided to look for alternative options. Sirak is a PCOS Personal Trainer and a strong supporter of women struggling with PCOS.
