Recorded on 5 October 2023 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Santhosh Mathew chairs a webinar with Dr Ted Hamilton. Physician burnout has become an issue of international concern. Beginning over a decade ago, researchers began to identify the cardinal characteristics of burnout as depersonalization, emotional exhaustion, and loss of satisfaction in work. Early studies identified physicians as at particular risk of burnout, with half or more US physicians admitting to one or more symptoms of burnout. The causes of this condition are multifactorial, including work-life imbalance, loss of professional autonomy, and bureaucratic burdens. Essential remedial strategies include personal resilience, institutional commitment to change, and national efforts to address underlying structures and policies. Ted Hamilton is a family physician and physician executive with AdventHealth, a 52-hospital, faith-based, mission-focused healthcare system. He and his wife, Jackie, celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2019. They have two daughters and two grandchildren, both of whom are pursuing careers in healthcare. Ted's career spans a half century, and includes rural private practice, teaching and directing a family practice residency, serving as medical director/leader for various entities, including a large academic medical group, inpatient, outpatient, and third-party entities. Ted is a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, teacher of Scripture, church leader, and community servant. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars, visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Hello Sailor! Jason from 'It's Not That Bad' podcast jumps onboard the 'Defend It Yourself' ship to review The Pirate Movie (1982), an Australian musical romantic comedy loosely based on The Pirates of Penzance. "Think Pirates of the Caribbean crossed with YMCA's 'In The Navy', throw a bit of Baywatch in there, a bit of Grease, a bit of Grease 2, the non-shark bits of Jaws and the dreamlike quality of Scrubs and you're about halfway there". My Guest: "It's the show that does its best to defend the unfairly maligned movies, to find the silver linings in the films deemed “less than great”. Every week, host Jason Whissell is joined by a guest to discuss a movie that has been poorly rated by the critics or by the fans" , description from their website: https://notthatbadcast.com/home/ Discussion Points: -Bus stops advertisements. -Taking the context and the time that the film was made into account when watching the film. -The Pirate King and his fantastic lines, played charmingly by Ted Hamilton. -There's a lot to be said for a film that just makes you laugh. -A lot of Jason's examples go completely over Sean's head. -Sean drops Casualty (1986-Present) trivia but gets his Grease (1978) trivia desperately wrong. -Sean gets distracted by The Batman (2022) once Jason brings it up. It's been a while. -Jason and Sean discuss World War Z (2013). -Sean ironically discusses editing. Raised Questions: -Do you believe film critics? -Did they get past introductions in the 80's? -Where do the Ninjas turn up? -How bad does this film look on paper? -This film got how many many Razzie nominations? -What does Jason think of the musical score, did it damage the film? -The self-awareness of the film? -What do critics want? -Are films with a long runtime necessary? -Is this film a perfect 'bad day' film? Random Recommendations: -Repo The Genetic Opera (2008). -House of Wax (2005). -Bottom (TV Series 1991-1995). -The Pope's Exorcist (2023). -Clue (1985). Anna and Derek fly solo this time to discuss the underappreciated genius that is Ted Hamilton, the ways in which this flick may or may not have affected the careers of its stars and much more during their chat of the Kristy McNichol-Christopher Atkins starrer The Pirate Movie (1982). Connect with '80s Movie Montage on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! It's the same handle for all three... @80smontagepod.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/80sMontagePodTwitter: https://twitter.com/80sMontagePodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/80smontagepod/Anna Keizer and Derek Dehanke are the co-hosts of ‘80s Movie Montage. The idea for the podcast came when they realized just how much they talk – a lot – when watching films from their favorite cinematic era. Their wedding theme was “a light nod to the ‘80s,” so there's that, too. Both hail from the Midwest but have called Los Angeles home for several years now. Anna is a writer who received her B.A. in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and M.A. in Film Studies from Chapman University. Her dark comedy short She Had It Coming was an Official Selection of 25 film festivals with several awards won for it among them. Derek is an attorney who also likes movies. It is a point of pride that most of their podcast episodes are longer than the movies they cover.
