The Democrat Party is unraveling before our eyes. And Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner may be the perfect example of just how far left the party has gone. This is the chief law enforcement officer of one of America’s largest cities openly fantasizing about the destruction of President Trump’s White House ballroom. Krasner told a crowd he looks forward to the day Democrats win again and a piece of the ballroom sits on his desk as a paperweight after “we all blow it up.” He later clarified that he meant demolishing it during an “official ceremony.” But think about that, a district attorney, someone entrusted with enforcing the law and setting an example for the public, casually using the language of blowing up part of the White House because he despises Donald Trump. And this is bigger than Larry Krasner. He is a symptom of what is happening inside the Democrat Party. The old liberal establishment is losing control while the radical left demands more power. Socialism is no longer whispered about. Communist ideas are being repackaged and sold to young Americans as fairness. Political opponents aren't simply wrong anymore. They are portrayed as fascists, Nazis and enemies who must be defeated by any means necessary. And Krasner's rise didn't happen in a vacuum. His original campaign for Philadelphia district attorney was boosted by roughly $1.45 million from a political action committee funded by billionaire George Soros. Then we watch the video of Krasner lose his cool when confronted by the press. Here is a government official who lectures America about democracy while seemingly struggling with one of democracy's most fundamental protections: a free press. This is what happens when political ideology becomes more important than institutions, restraint and the rule of law. Today on Stinchfield, we expose Larry Krasner and the much larger story he represents. The unraveling of the Democrat Party. Its accelerating march toward the radical left. And what happens to America when socialism and communist ideology stop living on the political fringe and start moving toward the center of a major American political party. Democrats trail Republicans in cash by nine figures. The DNC reported $16 million on hand against $17.9 million in debt. The RNC reported $130 million. Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers follow the money filling the gap, and most of it comes from senior citizens. A Stanford researcher spent eight months preparing an investigation for The New York Times. Fact checkers cleared it. Lawyers cleared it. Then the Elias Law Group sent cease and desist letters on behalf of Democratic committees, and the paper walked away. What the research found: a spam text pipeline built to squeeze a captive pool of elderly donors. An 85 year old man in Oxford, Ohio gave 7,800 times, nearly $650,000, more than double the value of his house. A 90 year old woman in an Indiana senior living facility gave more than 25,000 times, $250,000 in total. Fewer than 1% of Democrat donors account for almost half of the $1.4 billion these PACs have raised since 2017. One network alone pulled in $390 million. Most of the money never reaches a candidate. It recycles back into the fundraising operation. Hakeem Jeffries shows the shift in one chart. In 2018, his average donor was 54 and 21% were 65 or older. This cycle, his average donor is 73 and 86% are senior citizens. Then the midterm ledger. Ripple and Coinbase sit at the top of $230 million in special interest spending, ahead of Big Tech and Wall Street. FanDuel and DraftKings make the top six. George Soros has given more than $102 million this year. AIPAC drew headlines for $30 million behind Haley Stevens in Michigan, while the money moving against her opponent's opponent stays far harder to trace: a $200,000 super PAC check from Abdul El-Sayed's father-in-law, an Islamic Society of North America figure; $25,000 from an Egyptian American activist sentenced to life in absentia; $115,000 tied to people affiliated with the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Saudi Arabia spent $92 million on Washington lobbying last year with roughly 148 registered foreign agents. Peter and Eric close on Sharia law, Jesse Watters' interview with El-Sayed, and whether the red-green alliance holds long enough to make Michigan competitive. The rapture of God's church and Jesus return is not just a subject for prophecy charts and end-times conversations. Scripture tells us to live ready.Scripture gives us a much bigger picture of what is happening around us, how we should live, what we should be watching for, and how seriously we should take the things God has asked us to steward. That means taking an honest look at our own lives, being willing to recognize deception, knowing the difference between biblical conviction and emotion, and refusing to let the noise of culture replace the truth of Scripture. Some things deserve our attention. Some things deserve our prayers. And some things require us to stop, open our Bibles, and ask whether we have gotten too comfortable. Are you ready?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In July 2026, the US Treasury did something it hadn't done since 1998: it intervened in the currency markets to prop up the Japanese yen — and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a former Soros hedge fund manager, ran the trade in the strangest way possible, selling euros instead of dollars without telling the ECB. But this was never really about Japan. It was about protecting American borrowing costs at a moment when the US is paying more to borrow than it has in decades — with 30-year Treasury yields hitting their highest since 2001. This video breaks down the US-Japan yen intervention, the carry trade, the FIMA facility, and Bessent's huge bet on falling interest rates, and asks the real question underneath it all: is the Treasury Secretary a visionary macro trader, or a cornered man making an enormous gamble with the balance sheet of the United States? A look at currency intervention, the eroding "exorbitant privilege" of the dollar, and why America's cheap borrowing may be coming to an end.Patrick's Books:Statistics For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3eerLA0Derivatives For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3cjsyPFCorporate Finance: https://amzn.to/3fn3rvC Ways To Support The Channel:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/PatrickBoyleOnFinanceBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/patrickboyle

Caso Epstein? Pesquisador do CNPq e assessor do Instituto Brasil Israel.
Cory's argument about narratives. Journalists and bankers keep asking what the catalyst will be, but narrative follows price rather than causing it. Something moves because sellers are exhausted, and the reason gets fitted afterward. The only narrative that matters is Bitcoin being better money for eight billion people. Larry Lepard on what actually moved. The debasement trade began in earnest last year, and it showed up first in gold and silver rather than Bitcoin because those are more widely understood. Silver quadrupling is the kind of thing that has essentially never happened before. Japan is the seminal event. With Japan holding roughly $1.2 trillion in Treasuries, the US offered swap lines and rotated euro reserves into yen. What shook the gold market was the Treasury Secretary suggesting the existing facility should be larger. As Larry put it, a swap line is printing money, full stop. A guest correcting his own AI. Larry noted the press had the facility's usage wrong and that AI had misled him too, so he went and read the Fed's own statements to establish it had not actually been drawn on. Worth noting as a method, not just a detail. The 1992 parallel, corrected live. It was Warsh, not Bessent, who worked for Soros attacking the Bank of England. Thirty-four years later he is on the other side of that trade, in the Bank of England's role. Larry's thesis for the year is the unmasking of Warsh as a hawk, because the math will not let him be one. The Fed has exactly two tools. It can mislead about inflation, and it can print. Larry's read is that we are currently in the first phase and last week signalled a move toward the second. He also explained yield curve control as what governments do when the bond market stops cooperating, with the post-war precedent as the template. His own record is the caveat he volunteers. He expected massive inflation out of 2008 and a cascade from Silicon Valley Bank, and was wrong both times. The people running the system are good at kicking the can, so the honest position is direction with no date. The two-tier system he expects. The dollar remains the unit everyone transacts in, gold displaces Treasuries as the reserve asset, and Bitcoin sits alongside before eventually supplanting gold over years, not days. It is already visible in oil sold for yuan and immediately swapped into physical gold. Greg Foss on where trouble announces itself. Every recent crisis began in credit rather than equities, and private credit is where he is watching now. His trader's version: equity investors ask how much they can make, credit investors ask how much they can lose. Credit is the first smoke in the theatre. And his structural objection about treasury companies. He takes issue with perpetual preferred shares being described as credit, because a perpetual has no maturity and no principal repayment, so its running yield cannot be compared to a bond's yield to maturity. Retiring that stack at scale would mean selling Bitcoin, which was never the strategy.

Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan's Democratic Senate primary, and his own party's establishment spent roughly $83 per vote trying to stop him. Haley Stevens had the governor, Jim Clyburn, AIPAC money, and most of the state's Democratic leadership behind her. She lost anyway. Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers go through what that result says about where the Democratic Party is headed. Spain's border just collapsed in Ceuta, and it's not a coincidence. I break down the globalist network behind the crisis, from Pedro Sanchez to George Soros to Bill Gates, and why this is a direct preview of what's coming to America. What we cover:How 60,000 military age men breached Spain's border in Ceuta and Melilla, and why it wasn't spontaneous.Pedro Sanchez's mass regularization program and the legal loopholes that incentivized the invasion. Why Sanchez refused to declare a national emergency while deploying police against his own citizens instead. The international backlash across Europe, including Italy suspending Schengen cooperation and the US floating travel restrictions.Sanchez's role as president of Socialist International and his coordination with the global socialist left. His documented meetings with Soros, Gates, and the Davos elite, and what Spain got in return. The Iran linked funding behind Podemos and Sumar, and how that money bought Sanchez's cabinet.Qatar and Turkey's financial rewards for Spain's anti Israel foreign policy. The direct policy overlap between Sanchez's Spain and the DSA's platform here in the US.How, where, and why this same donor network, from ActBlue to CCP linked operatives, is already active on American soil.If you care about border security, national sovereignty, and who's really funding the global left, this is the episode you need to watch.

Last week, DataRepublican (Jennica Pounds) announced that her new book, Unelected: How You Paid a Sinister Elite to Take Over America, is coming out in October. She added that she and her ghostwriter, Joshua Lisec, will be giving interviews. I instantly pounced on that opportunity, so Joshua and I arranged an interview. I found what Joshua had to say fascinating, for he expanded on the book's basic premise: A taxpayer-funded NGO complex has become a supranational force that weakens American sovereignty, advances left-wing causes, and prioritizes global humanitarianism and cheap labor over constitutional stability and national cohesion. Nor does Joshua let Republicans off the hook, for he explains that supranationalism is essentially the reductio ad absurdum of the Enlightenment idea that all men are created equal—which may be true, but it fails to consider that not all cultures are created equal. Nevertheless, our "gentry Republican" class, as he terms it, has the same virtuous high from open borders as George Soros does. To the end, they join with leftists in viewing as America's ultimate goal a borderless world of equal people. All is not lost, though, for there are ways Americans can fight back—and the left, of course, has mapped how to do that, for it used these same techniques to drag America left after WWII. I was hoping that the video would record as a side-by-side chat, but Google Meet refused to cooperate. The next time I do a video, I'll have that bug worked out.
Patrick draws listeners into a discussion where historical controversies, personal stories, and scripture mingle with hard questions about faith, cultural change, and the reality of mass immigration in Europe. He weighs the warning of disinformation in history, considers the resurgence of Catholic youth, and balances calls for Christian hope with the demand for clear-eyed justice and prudent leadership. Through scripture, commentary, and sometimes raw conversation, Patrick keeps the dialogue urgent and human, never letting the issues drift far from daily life. In this explosive edition of The Adult in the Room, Victoria Taft delivers a tour de force across "The Great Reveal". First, we examine unsealed audio recordings of Joe Biden explicitly admitting to his ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, that he held classified documents at his home from his time as Vice President. Then, we break down Sen. Josh Hawley's scorched-earth questioning of Dr. Anthony Fauci, exposing how Fauci invoked the 5th Amendment 111 times and dragooned eight federal employees into soliciting over $1,000,000 in cash awards on taxpayer time. Plus, we expose a State Department report revealing American journalists on China's payroll. This episode features two high-stakes interviews:Sheriff Keith Swank of Pierce County, Washington, exposes a nationwide progressive push backed by Soros and Arabella networks to abolish elected county sheriffs and strip citizens of constitutional protections. Director Chris Burgard drops by to discuss his new documentary, Remember the Alamo: Don't Sharia My Texas, exposing Muslim Brotherhood civilizational jihad and CARE's push into Texas school districts.

Mark Glendening argues free speech in Britain and the West is under increasing internal attack, citing “non-crime hate incidents,” broad Public Order Act powers, online and even private-message prosecutions, and proposals to criminalize non-affirmation of transgender identity under “conversion therapy” laws. He says enforcement is often aimed at the right and anti-transgender feminists, though he notes prosecutions of some left-wing Palestine Action supporters. Glendening traces today's speech controls to cultural strategies developed after Marxism waned, highlighting Gramsci, the Frankfurt School (especially Marcuse), and French postmodernists. He urges electoral pressure campaigns, praises Elon Musk and X, and warns that debanking, digital ID, and Soros-backed regulation threaten liberties.00:00 Meet Mark Glendening01:07 Britain's Free Speech Legacy02:04 Non Crime Hate Incidents04:23 Policing Private Speech06:52 Who Gets Targeted09:29 Conversion Therapy Crackdown16:09 Why the New Left Censors21:21 Three Intellectual Roots28:37 The Sixties Cultural Turn36:12 Words Liberal vs Progressive43:31 Digital ID and Debanking44:46 Fighting Back Politically48:04 Elon Musk and X50:07 US Elections and Internet Speech52:20 Final Thoughts on Libertyhttps://iea.org.uk/tag/marc-glendening/https://iea.org.uk/publications/transgender-ideology-a-new-threat-to-liberal-values/=========Slides, summaries, references, and transcripts of my podcasts: https://tomn.substack.com/p/podcast-summariesMy Linktree: https://linktr.ee/tomanelson1

Who Controls What You're Allowed to Believe? Ashley Rindsberg on Wikipedia, Google, AI Bias & the Hidden Information War Investigative journalist Ashley Rindsberg uncovers documented left-leaning bias baked into Wikipedia, a secretive list deciding which outlets count as "reliable," and a money trail touching the world's most powerful political networks and elite global foundations and NGO's. Inside this episode (don't miss): How Wikipedia and Google quietly decide what you're "allowed" to see first on almost any topic — and how one anonymous editor allegedly wrote the rulebook for which sources get trusted and which get blacklisted. How Trump gets labeled an "authoritarian" while actual authoritarian regimes get soft-pedaled — and how Clinton-linked networks and Soros-funded activism allegedly help supercharge that double standard. The Wikimedia Foundation's 2016 pivot into a DEI-branded "social justice" project, and its ties to major political operatives, Clinton-adjacent infrastructure, and activist funding pipelines. The billion-dollar cottage industry of paid editors and "reputation managers" who can lock, rewrite, and curate reality — while public figures can't even correct basic facts about themselves. How entries sourced from Iranian state outlets and Chinese state media make it onto Wikipedia as "reliable" — while outlets like the Daily Mail get blacklisted entirely. How platforms like Al Jazeera, rated a reliable source on Wikipedia despite Qatari state ownership, are feeding directly into the AI tools you use every day — shaping what those tools present to you as neutral fact. Why ordinary people — including Jillian herself — say they can't get false information about them corrected, and what the law actually allows. This isn't just about an encyclopedia. It's about who shapes what an entire generation is told is true, while almost no one is watching it happen.
Spouting Off with Karen Kataline Trump, Populism, and the Battle Over America's Future Soros Funding and the Architecture of Political Influence Karen Kataline opens the program while filling in for Alan Nathan and welcomes Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, founder of the American Center for Democracy and author of The Soros Agenda. Their discussion begins with Kataline's assertion that Soros-linked funding reached pro-terrorist organizations, while Ehrenfeld responds that the recipient groups frequently change names and that the funding can be difficult to trace through multiple foundations and intermediaries. Ehrenfeld explains that money may pass through established educational, civic, or nonprofit organizations before reaching its final destination. She says Alexander Soros has led the foundation network since June 2023, while George Soros remains its founder, and characterizes the broader agenda as socialist or neo-Marxist, with expanded government control and redistribution as central features. A Host's Defense of Trump's Pace and Priorities Following the first interview, Kataline delivers an extended commentary praising President Donald Trump's energy, governing pace, and efforts to address crime and disorder in American cities. Citing a report that Trump was highlighting thousands of arrests of violent criminals, she uses public safety as an example of what she sees as his rapid and effective approach to governing. She contrasts his actions with Democratic leadership, left-wing activism, and media coverage that she describes as dishonest or disconnected from visible urban decline. Kataline also distinguishes admiration from worship, arguing that gratitude for political achievement should not be confused with personal devotion. She portrays Trump's business success as a product of the American free-market system and as preparation for what she sees as the greater challenge of restoring peace, prosperity, safety, and national confidence. “No Kings” Protests and Performative Activism Dr. Steve Turley joins the program and discusses the “No Kings” demonstrations. He characterizes much of the movement as astroturfed and describes the protests as a “performative contradiction,” arguing that the freedom to demonstrate against the government proves that the United States is not ruled by a king or dictator. He also portrays the events as symbolic activism that does not place participants' lives or livelihoods at meaningful risk. Turley characterizes the turnout as dominated by affluent white liberal boomers and argues that the groups most affected by urban disorder were largely absent. He and Kataline contrast the protesters with working-class Black and Latino communities that, in their view, are more directly concerned with crime, public order, secure borders, and economic conditions. MAGA as Part of a Global Nationalist Revival Turley introduces the central argument of his book, Fight: How Trump and the MAGA Movement Are Changing the World. He presents MAGA as the American expression of a broader international movement favoring national identity, secure borders, domestic manufacturing, cultural tradition, and resistance to globalist institutions. He links the movement to opposition against open borders, outsourced manufacturing, cheap-labor policies, and the denigration of national culture. Turley argues that the collapse of the Soviet Union weakened the old choice between competing ideological blocs and allowed populations to focus more directly on national and civilizational identity. He cites Pat Buchanan, Nigel Farage, and Giorgia Meloni as figures connected with this trend, while crediting Trump with transforming it into a far more powerful and internationally visible political force. Debating the “Woke Right” and Anti-Israel Sentiment Kataline and Turley then discuss the label “woke right,” particularly in relation to identity politics, ethnicity, antisemitism, and hostility toward Israel. Turley is cautious about the term because he associates wokeness primarily with cultural Marxism and the identity politics of the left. At the same time, he acknowledges that racial fixation and anti-Jewish hostility can become destructive within conservative movements. Kataline speaks personally about former political allies who, in her view, have become openly hostile toward Jewish people and Israel. She warns that what she describes as a Christian revival associated with Charlie Kirk's legacy should not be redirected by anti-Jewish or anti-Israel voices, and she emphasizes the need for Christians, Jews, conservatives, and supporters of Western civilization to remain aligned. Mamdani, Post-American Politics, and the Future of New York The final political discussion centers on Mamdani, whom Kataline and Turley characterize in strongly negative ideological terms, portraying him as communist, anti-Israel, and representative of what Turley calls a post-American movement. Turley argues that the emerging political divide is no longer adequately described as Republican versus Democrat, but rather as American versus post-American, with competing views of national culture and identity. Kataline compares Mamdani's political outlook with Barack Obama's, suggesting that the primary difference is how openly the ideology is expressed. Turley points to what he describes as Mamdani's limited majority support in a heavily Democratic electorate and argues that this could split the left while consolidating opposition on the right. He ultimately presents the situation as dangerous but also as a potential catalyst for a stronger nationalist counter-movement. Broadcast Ads, Public-Service Messages, and Closing Disclaimer The broadcast also contains several commercial and public-service segments addressing digital organization, adoption, veterans, prescription costs, business security, infant RSV prevention, blood-pressure awareness, employment training, and disability support. These segments are preserved as part of the original program rather than treated as editorial commentary. The episode closes with a network disclaimer stating that the opinions expressed belong to the hosts, callers, and guests and do not necessarily represent the station, management, or advertisers.

Emmanuel Macron. Demis Hassabis. Volodymyr Zelenskiy. George Soros. Mark Carney. Christine Lagarde. Ray Dalio. Leena Nair. Few journalists have spent more time questioning the people who shape the global economy than Francine Lacqua. As Editor-at-large at Bloomberg and host of Leaders with Francine Lacqua on Bloomberg TV, Lacqua has interviewed many of the most influential political and business leaders of our time. Across hundreds of conversations with presidents, CEOs, central bankers and founders she has built a rare understanding of how leadership operates at the highest levels of power. In June 2026, Lacqua joined us live on stage for a special instalment of The Intelligence Squared Economic Outlook, our flagship series examining the forces shaping global markets, politics and business. In conversation with BBC broadcaster Jonny Dymond, she reflected on the leaders she has encountered throughout her career – and the defining decisions they faced during moments of economic uncertainty, geopolitical tension and technological change. What distinguishes leaders who succeed in turbulent times? How do the best decision-makers balance political pressure, economic risk and long-term strategy? And what kinds of leaders does today's increasingly volatile world demand? This recording is part of The Intelligence Squared Economic Outlook series of events made in partnership with Guinness Global Investors, an independent British fund manager that helps both individuals and institutions harness the future drivers of growth to achieve their investment goals. Vinny Lingham warned 18 months ago that Michael Saylor would harm Bitcoin more than FTX. Now he maps how the Strategy empire breaks and the one move that could slow the bleed. ======================================================== Thank you to our sponsor! Vinny Lingham, co-founder of Praxos Capital, tweeted in October 2024 that Michael Saylor would do more damage to Bitcoin than FTX. On Unchained, he argues the collapse was always predictable, and that this is not a Ponzi but what he calls a 'Saylor scheme.' Lingham maps how the empire breaks once MSTR trades at a discount to mNAV, why the 32-Bitcoin sale and the $1.5 billion buyback of 2029 converts blew Saylor's runway, and why $6.7 billion in convertible notes raises default risk by 2028. He also weighs a Soros-style attack theory and the switch to bimonthly dividends. His fix is the one thing Saylor won't do: stop buying, stop diluting, wait it out. The question is who removes the biggest buyer of Bitcoin, him or the market. Host: Laura Shin, Host / Unchained Guests: Vinny Lingham - Co-founder of Praxos Capital Timestamps

AI is a transformational technology impacting education, business, law, and productivity. The U.S. and China are in a high-stakes race to dominate AI development with the U.S. slightly ahead (estimated months, not years). 1. The Strategic Importance An economic prize worth trillions of dollars A geopolitical contest influencing global values and norms Arguments suggest: If China wins, AI could reflect values like surveillance and state control If the U.S. wins, AI would reflect free-market and democratic values Infrastructure Discussion Chips (semiconductors) Data centers Compute power and machine learning systems There is an emphasis on the following: Data centers are essential but controversial (power and water usage concerns) Claims that modern data centers: Can generate power or offset usage Use closed-loop water cooling, minimizing consumption
1. Elon Musk, Capitalism, and Wealth Debate Capitalism vs. criticism: Free enterprise rewards value creation—people voluntarily buy products or invest. Critics are hostile to Musk and supportive of wealth redistribution. Comparison to other billionaires: George Soros is contrasted with Musk as someone whose wealth is seen as aligned with political causes favored by the left Musk could face government targeting if political power shifts. There is much hypocrisy among political figures (e.g., wealthy critics of capitalism). Criticism of media figures and narratives portraying Musk negatively. There is a broader ideological conflict: Free-market capitalism vs. government control Individual innovation vs. redistribution 2. Georgia Election and Political Strategy Focus on candidate Rick Jackson, a businessman with a “self-made” background. He is endorsed as: Conservative Electable Philanthropic (especially in foster care and education) Campaign dynamics: Competition against a Trump-endorsed opponent Strategic late endorsement to influence outcome Election outcome: Jackson wins primary (~52.6% vs 47.4%) Broader implications: Importance of Georgia as a politically competitive (“purple”) state Connection to future Senate control and national politics 3. College Sports Crisis and NIL Reform Problems identified: NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) system chaos Unregulated transfer portal Legal challenges removing rules Rising costs causing: Program cuts (especially non-revenue sports) Financial instability Disparities: Older players competing with younger athletes Risk of collapse: Projection that only 30–50 major football programs would survive Broader impact: Threat to: Non-revenue sports (track, tennis, etc.) Women’s sports Olympic development pipeline Loss of opportunity for: ~500,000 college athletes Students relying on sports scholarships Proposed Legislative Solution A bipartisan Senate bill is introduced: Passed committee (19–9 vote) Expected to pass full Senate and House Goals: Stabilize college sports system Prevent formation of a “super league” dominated by top conferences (SEC, Big Ten) Preserve broad access to college athletics Support: Strong backing from: NCAA-related organizations Professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB) Coaches and universities U.S. Olympic Committee Social Value of College Athletics Emphasis on sports is: A pathway to education and upward mobility Especially important for: Low-income students First-generation college attendees Benefits highlighted: Discipline, teamwork, leadership skills Long-term economic and social impact Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. The New York Times just printed a claim that Israeli prison guards trained dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners. The byline read that Nicholas Kristof was "reporting." As in: these are facts. They aren't. No evidence. No credible sources. Just allegations from a Hamas-linked organization and a George Soros-funded group with a documented history of false claims against Israel. Now Prime Minister Netanyahu is suing the Times for libel. The American Jewish Committee calls it modern blood libel. And one Palestinian writer says even Kristof's own sources can't be trusted.
