Aaron Freiwald, Managing Partner of Freiwald Law and host of the weekly podcast, Good Law | Bad Law, is joined by two climate youth activists and electoral organizers, Olivia Freiwald, 21, and Violet Massie-Vereker, 19, both of the Sunrise Movement and of the Down Ballot Disruption Project (DBDP), to discuss youth voting, the 2020 election, the importance of galvanizing youth political efforts, and the impact the youth will undoubtedly have on our future. What is the DBDP? Why is the Green New Deal so important? In today’s episode, Aaron, Olivia, and Violet have an inspiring conversation on the possibilities of change. With the 2020 election days away, today’s conversation is paramount. Motivated at young ages, both Olivia and Violet, explain how their personal experiences have shaped their current political vision, the two talk about the climate crisis, electoral organizing, “sleepy dems,” awareness, responsibility and how to think big. Violet and Olivia discuss their frustration with the current power imbalance they see in politics but also the ways in which they are excited for the future. Aaron, Olivia, and Violet talk about the advantage younger people have in understanding how to use technology effectively and efficiently as well as the role of relationship organizing and social media networks. Founded in 2017, Sunrise is a youth movement to stop climate change and to create millions of good jobs in the process. The idea is to “build an army” of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the “corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on politics,” and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. Through talking to neighbors, families, religious leaders, classmates, and teachers, Sunrise spreads their message; “our strength and work is rooted in our local communities, and we are always growing in number.” The Down Ballot Disruption Project, or DBDP, equips “young people across the country with the skills, resources, and support they need to elect progressive leaders in their communities.” From the school board to Congress, down ballot politics have the biggest influence on our everyday lives, yet their races are historically de-prioritized. Everything from voter services, to pipeline approvals, to police funding is governed by local offices; DBDP highlights that the difference between victory and defeat often comes down to less than 1,000 votes. This November, the DBDP is hopeful to elicit change by electing a “new generation of leaders who care about our future.” We’re posting this episode early to remind you once again how critical it is that everyone votes – every voice matters. Please make sure you have a plan for how to vote! Listen in now! To learn more about the Down Ballot Disruption Project, please click here. This November, Hamilton County Republicans have their sights set on one race far above all others: getting incumbent Joe Deters re-elected prosecutor. He faces a candidate he has run against for the seat once before, former Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Fanon Rucker.
This November, California voters will weigh in on a controversial topic: affirmative action. Proposition 16 would overturn an existing law that prohibits the consideration of race and gender in public education, hiring and contracting. Both sides of the Prop. 16 debate center their arguments on the question of discrimination. Supporters say that unless state agencies look at race and gender, they cannot rectify long standing disparities while opponents say affirmative action enables discrimination. We dive into Prop. 16.
This November, Californians will vote on the future of gig work for rideshare and delivery drivers for companies like Uber, Doordash and Lyft. While a new state law categorizes the workers as 'employees,' the companies, who have put over $181 million towards the initiative, want them to be 'independent contractors.' Laura Fong reports on what the drivers want and Sam Harnett of KQED joins to discuss its impact, if passed. PBS NewsHour is supported by - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/about/funders
In today's News: L.A. County wants a contempt ruling against a pastor Los Angeles County has expressed its intention to haul Grace Community Church Pastor John MacArthur back into court, attempting to secure a contempt ruling against him, which would involve hefty fines. On Monday, an L.A. superior court judge punted on contempt, but the county told MacArthur’s lawyers that it intends to refile charges in another court. Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff issued a preliminary injunction allowing L.A. County to ban indoor church services, but the church has appealed the injunction. MacArthur’s lawyers argue that since they are challenging the preliminary injunction, any contempt proceedings should wait until the underlying constitutionality of the county’s coronavirus lockdown orders has been fully litigated. Yet Los Angeles has refused to wait, instead rushing to use a constitutionally dubious order as a cudgel against Christians who insist on going to church. Christian students fight back University of Iowa officials were put on notice yesterday after a Christian student group asked a federal appeals court to hold them accountable for targeting and booting the group off campus because it requires its leaders to follow its religious beliefs. Officials at the University of Iowa kicked Business Leaders in Christ off campus and put it on a religious watchlist for simply requiring its leaders to sign a statement of faith Professionals support abortion restriction More than 130 medical professionals and scientists in Colorado have signed a letter in support of Proposition 115, a ballot measure seeking to ban abortion after 22 weeks of pregnancy. Colorado currently has no laws regulating late-term abortion, either restricting the procedure or explicitly protecting it. As a result, abortions can take place up until birth. This November, Proposition 115 will ask voters if they want to ban abortion in the state after 22 weeks of pregnancy, unless a mother’s life is threatened. If the ballot measure passes, doctors would face a three-year suspension of their license for performing or attempting to perform an abortion. Women would not be charged with seeking or obtaining an abortion. More than 150,000 people from across Colorado signed a petition to place the initiative on the upcoming ballot. Legislation introduced to protect women’s sport A handful of GOP senators, led by Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, introduced legislation on yesterday that would further protect women under Title IX. Loeffler’s “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” makes a biological male’s participation in athletic programs that are designated for women and girls a violation of Title IX. The legislation would penalize schools receiving federal funding that permit such participation from biological males and threatens to pull the federal dollars all together. Loeffler’s legislation targets Title IX’s recognition of biological sex within women and girls’ athletic programs and aims to ensure that sex is accepted based on a person’s reproductive biology at birth. It follows a nationally watched case in Connecticut that resulted in two separate biological males winning multiple championship titles, that were previously held by women, in women’s track contests. The male participants inhibited the women from advancing further in competition.
This November 3 election is not about electing Donald Trump or Joe Biden to be President. It is entirely about what form of government do you want for yourselves, for your children, and for your grandchildren. Whether you like him or not, Trump is the only vote that will save our American Values, our Rule of Law under the Constitution (as written) and our Freedom Loving Way of Life.Because Texas has so many Electoral College votes, a large voter fraud problem in Harris County (Houston) might be enough to flip Texas blue and cause Donald Trump to be defeated. Fortunately, the Texas Supreme Court ordered a stop to Harris County sending out ballots to every registered voter in the County. But the election officials for Harris County were definitely determined to push the issue. THIS is just an example of the problem. Still reason to be concerned everywhere.Washington, DC, all the political elites has it “pretty good”. But just like the Principal showing up, President Trump came in and did exactly what he said he was going to do…..all the “stuff” both Democrats and Never-Trumpers always promised to do just to get votes. No, it is not about “getting stuff”. It is something much more important. It an opportunity to achieve the greatness within yourselves. Too much of our government doesn’t remember that any more.Under the Trump Administration, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is changing the definition of the word “habitat” back to what it really is supposed to mean. In 2012, the Obama Administration decided to designate a big section of land in Louisiana to be habitat for the endangered dusky gopher frog. The problem is the dusky gopher frog does not live there, nor could it. The environmentalists’ “land grab” would mean the taken land would have to undergo a number of ecological modifications before the dusky gopher frog could live there, including creating a pond.

Starting in 2016, approximately 25% of voters in the U.S. submitted their ballots by mail. This November, that number is expected to jump by 50%, posing major hurdles for counties that have traditionally counted ballots by hand. On this week’s episode, Fred Scherman, National Sales Manager - Scanners at Panasonic, joins host Barry Ross to discuss signature verification technology and how it can create significant efficiencies for election officials amid unprecedented numbers of mail-in ballots and pandemic-driven staffing restrictions. Through scanning both sides of ballots, batch-sorting and enhanced record keeping, Fred shares how the technology can help streamline ballot-counting and support elections in this new context.
DNC Has The MSM So Excited They Can't Contain It Joe Biden Was On Something Look, there is NO WAY that Joe Biden wasn’t on something last night. They gave him a shot of adrenaline. Or maybe even some adrenochrome. Yet the reaction from the left is reminiscent of an Obama-era second-coming-of-Jesus moment. Whilst trying to get as many perverts as possible on board, they published a poster featuring the stars of the movie in overtly sexualized clothing and positions. Now you may think this is being dramatic for ratings but please take my word for it. WARNING - NSFW From Deadline: Netflix has issued a swift mea culpa after a strong backlash today around the marketing of its forthcoming release Cuties. The largely well-received French-language pic won the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance this year. It follows Amy, an 11-year-old girl who joins a group of dancers named “The Cuties” at school and rapidly grows aware of her burgeoning femininity — upsetting her mother and her values. The film is rated 82% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics generally praised it for its handling of sensitive topics. Netflix recently began promoting the movie ahead of its September 9 release on the platform. However, the accompany artwork has provoked a storm of online criticism, with many saying the poster sexualizes children. One Twitter user called it “disgusting,” while another said, “Netflix really messed up here.” A society that treats its children like sex dolls is a society that God will actively judge with swift punishment. Child Well-Being Checks Are Halted, But Schools Are Extending Their Jurisdiction Into Your Child's Bedroom The state of Tennessee has decided it's best for your child if they checked on them - and involved local law enforcement as well as neighbors. Here is the recent release from the Tennessee Department of Education: Governor Bill Lee charged Commissioner Schwinn to convene the COVID-19 Child Wellbeing Task Force in response to the pandemic’s long-term effects on Tennessee’s school districts and students. The goal of the Task Force is to help communities come together to check on our kids. “The Child Wellbeing Task Force will work to ensure that the needs of Tennessee children are met during and after extended periods away from school, and to empower local communities to meaningfully engage in ways that support child wellbeing,” said Commissioner Penny Schwinn. “I am encouraged by these dedicated individuals from across the state who have stepped up to serve.” After hearing this,

In this episode, I address the explosive appearance by Rudy Giuliani this weekend where he described troubling evidence which should end the political career of Joe Biden. I also address another liberal outrage at the Academy Awards and revealing connections between the anti-Trump cabal members. News Picks: Is the DOJ looking into the Biden-Ukrainian scandal? Pete Buttigieg has a near-magical ability to BS people. Lying Joe Biden falsely claims that Trump hasn’t denounced White supremacy. Vindman is out, are there more removals coming? The Oscars go full communist. Contrary to liberal fairytales, climate-related deaths are down 99.9% since 1932. This November 2019 article addressing the Obama-era White House visitor logs is devastating. Yes, the Democrats colluded with Ukrainians to try to interfere in the 2016 election. This 2018 article lays out the troubling connections between the media, the FBI and the Obama-era State Department in the Spygate scheme. Copyright Dan Bongino All Rights Reserved.

Every year we have a special service to give thanks for the Lord's mercy and grace in the past year. This November we went to an Old Testament example of the free will thanksgivings that the people of God were called to give to Jehovah at the day of the completion of a vow or for any other reason they were moved by the Holy Spirit to return thanks for His blessing. One of the many things we can learn from this particular offering is that feasting and joy are to be part of our return thanks unto Christ for His work and for His comforting grace. Whenever we stop to think about everything that the Lord has done for us we cannot but be moved to a heartfelt rejoicing in all Jesus's love in the giving of Himself for our sins.

Dear Parents, Think back to when you first moved to Woodbury. Your feelings were probably some mixture of being excited, scared and overwhelmed. What grocery store to go to, what doctor to choose, how do I register my kids for school? Some of you have even done all of this while also learning English! It was probably the kindness of strangers--soon-to-be friends--striking up conversations with you that made life at Woodbury feel like home. This November, Woodbury’s Parent Outreach is offering an amazing program called Each One Teach One whose goal is to connect parents with conversation partners. In other words, the program wishes to link up fellow Woodbury parents with one another--getting a mixture of both fluent English speakers and new to English speakers. Grabbing some coffee, having a lunch date, or taking the kids to the park--these are just a few ways conversations in English connect us. We are looking for parents who are fluent in English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations. We are also looking for parents who are learning English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations. We are also looking for parents who are new to English and want to make connections with fellow Woodbury parents through friendly conversations. If you are interested in participating in Each One Teach One as a conversation partner, please sign up by Friday, November 15th using the following link: http://bit.ly/woeachone2019 **Childcare will be offered for children ages 5 and above.

Steve Park is the founder and leader of Little Lights Urban Ministries in Washington, DC. Chantilly Bible Church's Student Ministries has sent several teams to work with him over the years, and each time we have seen the youth deeply impacted. This November 2, 2019 seminar was the direct outflow of the Summer 2019 youth mission, at which Steve talked about issues of race with our students over the course of a long evening. It was enlightening. With racial tensions and divisions prominent in our society, Christians have a responsibility to bring the truth of the gospel to bear on this issue. In this seminar, Steve utilizes his years of study, practical experience, and Christian faith to help participants see past the assumptions and presuppositions that often get in the way.
