SHOW NOTES INTRODUCING NICHOLAS TORRANCE! Today's story is a story of growth. Nicholas Torrance has been experiencing growth since beginning the FFA his freshman year in more ways than one. On a personal level, he has risen to the top of the ranks and been recognized as one of the top farming FFA students in the nation. Ultimately this culminated with his nomination as an American Star Farmer at the 2019 National FFA Convention. Nicholas has also experienced growth on professional level during that time. Ultimately, leading him to become his high school FFA chapter's president. On a farming level Nicholas grew his herd of cattle and the acres he has been farming row crops on from 40 to 200. He also graduated from a partnership in his farming endeavors to going 100% on his own. Today Nicholas is studying crop science as well as animal science at the University of Illinois. He hopes to continue this growth into the future and to become a full-time farmer. SUPERVISED AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE: Crop And Livestock Production HIGH SCHOOL: Macomb High School; Macomb, Illinois MASCOT: Bombers FFA ADVISOR: Wyatt McGrew CONTACT INFORMATION FOR NICHOLAS TORRANCE: Click on the picture below to be taken to the Macomb FFA Department's website: Nicholas' FFA Advisor's Email Address: macombffa@gmail.com Macomb High School's Telephone Number: 309-833-4161 FFA LINKS: National FFA Organization Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE's) Support FFA Donate to FFA - One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000. In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start - pay it forward. REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA: Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world. FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food. Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth. Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store: “The future of American agriculture depends on the involvement and investment in America’s youth, In order to prepare for the population of tomorrow, we need to encourage America’s youth today, and show that careers in agriculture are profitable, rewarding, and vital.”. Today Nicholas shares with us a guest that he was so pumped to have on the show. When it comes to people pleasing, when it comes to confidence, when it comes to getting your point across, and today's guest been a master at all of these different things, he actually has a company that helps you grow and scale your business, own an asset that works for you, enjoy freedom, income, and the peace of mind. James Friel is so spontaneous and has done crazy things. He consulted the second largest company in the world, made seven figures his first 12 months after leaving his corporate job has so many more ridiculous stories. Louis Pasteur, the famous biologist said that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. We create our own luck, but we create through preparation. We have to keep preparing ourselves and when the opportunities show up, those two things combined, opportunity and preparation meet. Yeah, you could argue that someone is lucky, but if you haven't been preparing and if you don’t know what you want, where you need to be to get it, and what it will take...if you don’t prepare for success you will miss the opportunity. The opportunity is always there for the taking and that's why it appears to be lucky. You've got to go all in and you can't second guess. Too often people limit their progress because they doubt what they're doing and doubt really doesn't serve us in any capacity. Think through what the risks are and acknowledge what you have to be careful about, weigh the options and discover what's really important. Be intelligent about the moves that you're gonna make. But when you're in the process of making those moves and you're doubting your ability to create something, the only thing that that doubt is doing is slowing you down from actually creating the thing that you want. Today Nicholas shares his interview with Russell Brunson, ClickFunnels founder and host of Funnel Hacking Live. They talk about the opportunities that come with being a high-level influencer, how to be faith focused without judgment, and what responsibilities drove them both to their passions. Russell shares personal stories and experiences he’s had throughout his entrepreneurial journey, from family life, faith, to failing business and his health. Timestamped Show Notes: [ 02:41 ] Social Media Influencing [ 06:44 ] Faith in Business [ 11:38 ] Balancing Mixed Views [ 14:54 ] Passion in the Hard Times [ 19:38 ] Responsibilities [ 23:48 ] Roadblocks [ 27:52 ] Lack of Support [ 35:30 ] Belief [ 38:29 ] Health Impacts all Areas [ 41:13 ] Failing [ 46:10 ] Funnel Hacking Live Takeaways: “I'm not going to judge anyone else because I struggle with so many things in life.” Everyone's got their own thing and like all we need to care about in the faith side of businesses is how we can actually change people's lives. That is what business is all about that. It's not about making money. Most entrepreneurs when they start that's their motivation. However they don't last long, it's hard to stay in business because the motivation for money goes away really quick. It's the people who start serving other people, seeing some success and then seeing lives changed. You have to shift your focus to that service mentality. That's what faith is, it’s serving and helping other people. It doesn’t matter what sins any of us have, we all have issues. But when you know that your mission here is to change other people's lives, that's when entrepreneurs are able to have an effect. The biggest component to success is belief. Sometimes we may not know what our ideas or visions will look like but when you have a belief you know that no matter what those dreams will come to fruition and you will see success. When you have a belief you are able to inspire people to join you in that dream even when everyone around them is telling them to take a step back. I think that's the biggest thing is actually believing. I think when people get stuck is because they're, I think this will work and that that's why you, that's why you don't quite go all the way. It's where you don't quite finished the shot or do the thing or whatever it is because like I think, I think it'll work. You get to like absolute belief in the certainty that's going to work and then you do that. You just smashed through the thing. And so, um, that's, that's the biggest is just believe in like again, if I can give everyone, like, just believe this has worked, believe it's true believer you can, whatever it is. Like as soon as you believe it, everything becomes really, really easy. David Mckay said that no success can compensate for failure in the home. And so for me, I look at that. That's the root foundation of success is what your home looks like. So how do you treat your wife, how you treat your kids, how like what does that relationship looks like because you have success in the world's view, but if your home is destroyed then you know, what was the, what was the point of it? I'm looking at people who have amazing families who were married, who have good relations with their spouse or their kids, things like that because that's success for me.
Today Nicholas sits down for an in-depth solo episode talking with us about the top two investments we should make as men, your community, and the ultimate break down of your progression as a man from survival to significance. Timestamped Show Notes: [ 02:39 ] Investments [ 05:24 ] Community [ 06:08 ] Giving Money Away [ 07:12 ] Stuck in Stability [ 08:10 ] Fear of Failure [ 10:05 ] Survival to Success [ 15:30 ] The Ultimate Goal [ 17:00 ] Stepping Stones [ 18:45 ] Ten Things [ 20:44 ] Mission and Vision Takeaways: The top two things that you can invest your finances and to see the biggest growth. The number one investment you can make is in yourself. Number one. Number two is in your own business first. Most people think they're going to make money and go invest in a stock or going to go invest in someone else's business or to invest in something. The number one thing that you can invest in as yourself first your education because no one can take it away from you and the second thing is going out and reinvesting into your own business to see that growth that you want to have. There's plenty of people out there that are broken up, terrible relationships. There's plenty of people out there that have great relationships that never figure out how to build wealth or how to take care of themselves. There's plenty of people that have two out of three, but having three out of three is just a phenomenal thing that we call three-dimensional businessman in a proprietary way to make that happen. And so knowing that focusing on your business gives you more ability to go out there and execute on your health, that gives you more ability to go out there and invest in your relationships. It gives you more freedom and there are different things in each one of these things. Impact. There are the four stages of life, survival, stability, success, and significance. And I always tell the guys what? What category are you in right now? Are you in survival mode where you're just like hammering away like you need to make something happen. Don't have a goal to go from survival mode to significance right away. So many guys out there like, oh my goodness, I would just love to help people. I would love to give money away. I would love to buy people's stuff and that's something that you definitely want to have inside of your mind, but it's not the first step to focus on. You can't just decide to go from homeless to philanthropists. It does not happen that way. You have not done the steps. You have not done the things to earn the title of philanthropist. You can't just go from never playing basketball to becoming a professional basketball player. That's not what you do. That's not the place that you go. You can't go from being a nobody to an influencer. It just does not happen that way. So figure out what are you. When are you in survival mode and you need to get to stability. Today Nicholas sits down with Dan Lok, a high ticket sales expert. They discuss Dan’s unique background and how he’s demolished limiting beliefs to build his success. Dan shares how to close high ticket sales and the difference between closure and salesmen, the types of demand and the formula to close a buyer. Dan breaks down the three level of high ticket closing, the mindset of congratulations, mentorship that changed Dan’s life, and what it truly takes to be a 3-dimensional businessman. You could choose to blame but at the end of the day, nobody cares who you are blaming what on and why, the blame does not yield results nor does it accomplish anything. What does accomplish more than anything is working on yourself, refining your communication, it doesn’t matter how good you are or how good your product is, how good your service is or how nice you are...if you do not know how to close a sale you will never be successful in high ticket sales. Existing Demand: Existing demand is when you have a client looking for a specific product to fulfill a want need or desire. Clients with an existing demand go, look, and buy. The second type of demand is created demand. When it comes to created demand your marketing needs to be different, you need to education, inspirer, and create desire. Once you’ve created the desire you can present the solution. “Hey this may be something you never thought of before but this could actually solve the problem you have.” This formula makes sense to the buyer. There is a big difference between sales and closing, a lot of people sell very few people close. You don’t make money selling you make money closing. If you are a carpet cleaning company you should teach your audience how to clean their own carpets without selling them your services. You might think you are giving away your trade secrets but people buy for convenience. So although you taught them how to do it themselves, they will buy your services because you took the time to teach them a built their trust. When you lack confidence in a relationship you will have to work to adapt to your partner's fame or success. It’s important to be adaptable in a relationship and offer support to one another. Content used to the king but distribution is now king. You can have great content but if no one sees it you won’t grow. The best way to distribute is to get shoutouts on other accounts as well as mentions and shares. Having people screenshot and share your account in their stories with reasons why they should follow you. Focus also on your bio and first six posts representing what you do.

Their conversation begins with a discussion on some of the future innovations Jamie sees in real estate tech. The topic then shifts to the concept of "tech as an amenity" and how the future consumer will be (and already is) expecting residential communities to keep up with many of the technological advances already serving the consumer markets. When children are growing up without a father they often find that there isn't someone there to nourish their “why”, why and how to be a man, why they need to have a healthy balance between work and personal life, why they need to invest in their relationships and marriage. The #1 thing about being a champion is taking care of your body. Lebron James spent 1 million dollars on his body because he realized that it’s his vehicle, his biggest priority. When you get the opportunity to be around guys who are focused on caring for their bodies, taking full responsibility, it’ll also become your way in life, and that of your household. When you get ready to go for a game you get an itinerary, you know the times for everything from bus and plane transport, to practice and game times. When you are under a coach you have to respect your coach, you won’t go over your coaches head. There is however, a difference between coaches and teachers, someone who is a teacher takes the time to show someone how to execute for excellence. We need to address and deal with high threat environments and traumatic stress, offering high-end treatment and discarding misdiagnosis to deal with the real and underlying issues founded in many mental health ailments. We as people need to know what the right resources are to go to get help and get back into serving in your strengths and purpose. When you are feeling overwhelmed, need to recenter, or are looking to renew your focus you can reset your “dial” through breathing exercises and slowing down your physiological response, mediating, refueling your body with nourishing food. Mindset of a Navy Seal: The first step is to solidify your purpose and being willing to test it and yourself. Every time you test your true purpose you will further solidify and ground yourself in your purpose. Then you have to follow through with action, develop good habits, invest in mentors, and pushing yourself, proving that you always have more in you. In fact, their mission is to literally redefine that word. Nicholas freely shares his story today and gives some extremely valuable and tactical advice on working with your spouse, handling other relationships properly and setting yourself up for a lifetime of wealth. So if becoming a well rounded businessman instead of one that is only focused on one of the three areas of health, wealth or relationships is of interest to you, I highly recommend listening to this episode in its entirety. Today Nicholas and Amanda Bayerle jump into episode #2 of the Power Couple episodes talking about romance! They discuss this week's struggles, having a like-minded vision, and how to be in love and stay in love. Time Stamped Show Notes: [ 03:33 ] Create and Agree on a Clear Vision [ 11:54 ] Like Minded Environment [ 13:51 ] Keeping Romance Alive [ 22:35 ] Priorities Takeaways: Get clear on your vision with your partner early on in your relationship. Here where your partner wants to go and know what you want for yourself before you dive into a relationship. Both people may not be fully committed to each other’s vision until there is a big measure of commitment, like engagement or marriage. Make communication your priority so that you both know what each other wants. Write out the list of what you want and refer to that when you are looking for the person who will align with your vision. In keeping the romance alive one of the best things to do is to picture your spouse intimately every day, visualization is a huge component in your relationship to keep the passion alive. Also, make sure you know and are fulfilling your spouse's love languages. You can make any moment non-romantic but you can also turn it around to the opposite. ROmance isn’t one-sided, be the person who is ready and available to your partner, govern yourself and then pour into your partner, don’t try to fix your partner. Rather than feeling and believing that you are alone, understand that you are part of the most important club in history. There are four types of people in the world, the first is the caretakers, the second is the communicator, the third second is the coordinator, the fourth is the hunter. Momentum is the life force for a hunter type of person, there are two ways to create momentum, either add things or take things away. Take inventory of the people, the things in your life and be ruthless, cut everything that isn’t giving you momentum. Momentum isn’t aa condition you want to be in, it’s what makes you who you are, and that needs to be defended at all costs. Show up like you are a professional athlete. Now that they are successful and have more opportunities they have found that their happiness levels have stayed even, they’ve always been happy and had fun in their relationship through both the good times and bad. When you have an awesome stable relationship you will want to conquer things together. Your circumstances shouldn’t dictate your relationship, you should want to be with your partner even when they don’t have all their ducks in a row. Money can make you happy but it shouldn’t be your foundation. Your happiness in your relationship shouldn’t be judged by external influences because if it was anything could break you up and tear you apart. If one area of your life isn’t performing well, it will affect the other areas. When you are sick you can become more irritable in your work and relationship, if your business isn’t going right you'll lash it out on your relationship, if your relationship isn’t going well you're more likely to emotionally eat and neglect your health. How you do one thing is how you do anything. Resources: BDB Live Brotherhood Facebook Group

Tommy has built, exited, and sold at a profit, a multi seven figure business, now helping other people do the same thing. Among the many other things Tommy has done, he’s also made it a priority to pursue his passions, like the comedic arts and building self-running businesses as an entrepreneur! [ 14:30 ] Investing in Coaches. [ 20:15 ] Vision. [ 23:15 ] Progressing in Your Passions. [ 30:15 ] Do What You Want. Takeaways: A lot of people close to you are going to think that pursuing your personal passions is illogical. Don’t stop chasing your dreams to live a “practical” life. Instead use what is in your arsenal, skill sets you’ve already cultivated and trades you’ve learned to help you get ahead and then pursue your dreams. At some point you have to ask yourself, “If i had to do what I am currently doing for the rest of my life would I be disappointed and upset, or dissatisfied with the rest of my life?” If the answer is anywhere near yes, you should take a look at and evaluate the direction you are heading in your current job, career, business, etc. In order to find a way to pursue the things that you are actually passionate about. Don’t let your fear hold you back, stop listening to other people and start listening to yourself and trusting your inner voice. In anything you want to do in life, you want to emulate the best, and the best, in any industry, invest in coaches. A truly good coach is there to push you past you're potential, even when you don’t think you can do it. You coach is there to tell you the things you need to do to get ahead and to reinforce your training day in and day out. You need to have a coach, mentor, mastermind group to provide you with support. Remember, as coach John Wooden says, “The Best Time to Learn is When You Think You Know It All.” Use what you know now to get what you want. Many people work for other businesses and they could be very successful entrepreneurs. They are instead settling for stability in a job that they don’t like, don’t want to grow with, and don’t have a vision for. As long as you are growing the skills you have, even if you aren't using them in your dream job right now, you can use them to help make a profit that can later fund your exit to make a profit doing your dream job is. Grow and develop your team and focus on making value based contributions to your market. Be preeminent in your business and personal life, live at a higher strata. Manifest greatness, don’t look to be iconic, but be committed to living a life that is truly meaningful, live with dignity. It is only possible to be seen as the most trusted advisor in any aspect of your life by first being willing to have a rich and authentic perspective. You need to be able to listen, hear and interact with people in the business and marketplace. So many people are driven mad with goals, fear, visions, and aspirations but can’t verbalize it. If you can verbalize your dreams you can express it clearly to your team and clients. Everything in your product should have a superior outcome. You have a moral obligation and responsibility to the people you interact with because you have the vision of the greater impact on the lives you are encountering. If you can’t live in a future paced world you are too linear. Learn easy ways to relate to your clients, find metaphors and analogies that they will relate to and that will relate to the product. Don’t fall in love with your business, job, career, or company. Fall in love with the people you are serving and impacting. You don’t deal with customers. The definition of a customer is: “Someone who buys a product, service, or commodity.” If you refer to people as a customer you are negating, settling for average, you are saying that you are a generic and transactional company, you’re no better than anyone else. A client is defined as, “Someone under the care and protection of another who is concerned for their well being.” When you have clients you make sure they are aware of every benefit you are offering them, you have a responsibility to make your clients the best they can be. When a man is fulfilling his role as a leader and stepping into his responsibilities, women will feel safe, erotic, sexually and emotionally attracted to him. If you’re a CEO of a company you are setting a vision, you know what direction you are moving in, you have a plan, your clarity. When you are with a woman you should also always be clarifying what it is she is stepping into with you. When you communicate with her be brief and clean, have a plan, “would you like to go out to dinner with me at (Time) (day)....” This is the plan. When a man presents a plan she will feel feminine, cared for and safe. Resources: Billion Dollar Brotherhood Facebook Group
Today Nicholas talks with Jordan Harbinger a top podcaster on the international platform. They talk about everything from the desire to be universally liked to developing your interests and skill sets to be better at the things you love. Timestamped: [ 01:03 ] Universal Liked. [ 07:39 ] Motivation Changing. [ 13:26 ] Giving up the Good for the Great. [ 21:00 ] Entrepreneurial Learning Curve. [ 26:57 ] Relationships and Business. [ 30:00 ] Becoming Interested. [ 36:38 ] Podcast. [ 43:13 ] Skill Sets. Takeaways: Be aware that the symbols and motivators that you had when you were younger will not always drive you. You are supposed to outgrow them because you are growing. When you create you will soon arrive at a point when that creation is done and complete. A brand is something that you constantly grow with, within that brand you create smaller things that you will grow apart from as you're brand grows and changes. If you are feeling unhappy in your business, it is in part normal because every business has its ups and downs. However, if you are continually in a downward spiral you need to reevaluate what is going on. Find the things you like to do, the areas you can thrive, what you're weaknesses are. Don’t be afraid to test yourself. You may think you don’t like teaching but find that what you truly don't like is what you are teaching, and instead when you are teaching something you love you enjoy teaching and are in fact very good at it. Today Nicholas talks with Dr. Robert Glover, author of No More Mr. Nice Guy, and a BDB Live 2.0 speaker. Dr. Glover is a relationship expert, having trained men in saying no to being a Nice Guy. He talks about his personal experience of saying no more to being Mr. Nice Guy and how to have a great love life. Timestamped Show Notes: [ 02:35 ] Backstory. [ 05:53 ] No More Mr. Nice Guy. [ 13:00 ] Who is a nice guy? [ 16:13 ] Men as Leaders. [ 23:12 ] Attracting Women. [ 29:54 ] Unmarketing. [ 33:28 ] Divorce. [ 45:09 ] Embrace the Moment and The Person You are With. [ 56:02 ] Failing Forward. Takeaways: There is a worldwide men’s movement that is growing and gaining traction, men’s are wanting to be better and grow personally so that they can improve their relationships and then their overall lives. Men are seeking answers by being vulnerable and putting themselves out there. Men want to feel masterful. Nice guys have the temperament to be easy going and a desire to make people happy. However where that temperament goes wrong is in wanting to become who they think people want them to be and denying aspects of themselves that they think will receive a negative reaction from others. Look to ascertain what is wrong in a situation before someone else has to do it for you. Look at it as dancing, men lead. You don’t have to lead all the time, but it is your job to be the leader. A relationship is about reciprocity, the woman will reciprocate the tone you set with your leadership. When you are being your authentic self you have no competition when you are just meeting a woman be you and if she likes you it will be easier to maintain your relationship. Today Nicholas talks with Trevor Chapman as Trevor shares his rags to riches story, dropping wisdom unlike any other guest before! Trevor is the host of the Chapman Show, has sold multiple businesses for 7 to 8 figures before the age of thirty-five. Time Stamped: [ 03:22 ] Results and the Hustle Mentality. [ 10:00 ] Lasting Change [ 12:00 ] Advance Business [ 19:38 ] Identifying Opportunity [ 24:58 ] Money and Significance [ 27:57 ] Legacy and Impact [ 36:36 ] What You Focus on Grows [ 42:00 ] Deliberate Intention [ 48:12 ] Reciprocation Takeaways: We are in the midst of hype and hyperbole, a time where #beastmode #grind #hustle are top trending. There is truth in this focus, it creates the concept that what it all comes down to is hard work, grinding and the hustle, when, while those are necessary elements, if you want more deserve more. You deserve more by winning more. It’s not the virtue of the hard work that gives you the results, it’s winning. Professional athletes aren’t drafted because they work hard, they are drafted because they win. Often the ones who win do work the hardest, proving that it is a symbiotic relationship between the two. When we want to make lasting change our natural tendency is to add more things to our to-do list that we are already not getting to, to give our lives for complexity. I’ve found that when we want to make a true lasting change we should ask ourselves what will I no longer tolerate? By clearing the things that are stopping you from being able to achieve, clearing your obstacle. By clearing things you give yourself that option to grow into more of what you want. What we focus on grows, the grass is greenest where it is focused on. Wherever you are at, focus on what you want and if you want to deserve more, win more in what you are doing. Naturally more options will occur but there are no shortcuts, there are small quantum leaps but we earn everything we have. Increase Intake of Good Brain Food: avocado, blueberries, broccoli, coconut oil, eggs, green leafy veggies, wild salmon, turmeric (lowers inflammation), walnuts, dark chocolate (good for focus and mood). Kill Automatic Negative Thoughts: You are what you eat, you are what you think. Where is the gift in this? Find your dominant question or sentence. You are thinking of a question, but there is a primary question underlying. Exercise: As your body moves, your brain grooves. Your body affects your mind. More physically active, the better your brain will work. Supplement Brain Nutrients: Omegas, B Vitamins etc. Take supplements based on what you need. Find Positive Peer Group: You are the average of the 5 people you spend time with. Not just your biological networks, it’s your social networks. Be around people that inspire, not nice but genuinely kind.
Today Nicholas sits down to talk with Chris Harder. Chris host’s podcast, For The Love of Money, and in today’s episode, he offers us a lot of practical and applicable things you can do to exponentially grow your income, make a bigger impact with your money and have fun while doing it. Time Stamped Show Notes: [ 2:30 ] Working with Your Significant Other. [ 9:00 ] Learning from the People Around You. [ 13:00 ] Material Things [ 16:34 ] Podcast Inspiration: Money Mindset [ 21:17 ] Experiencing Resistance [ 28:38 ] Personal Growth [ 35:09 ] Getting into Giving [ 38:21 ] Daily Actionable Items Takeaways: Is it easy to work with your significant other? The number one thing you have to learn is communication. When you come home you can’t communicate in a hierarchy. You have to learn what form of communication resonates with your partner. How do you want me to react? What is the best response that I can have to this question or that? At the end of the day, you are two people in love so you may get passionate or allow yourself to be short with one another. Have patience and be open to learning with each other. Your ceiling is our floor: you get to take the struggles someone else has been throw and experienced and use their mistakes as a launchpad for you to bypass the mistakes and continue growing and learning. You don’t have to lose it all, you don’t have to have a giant wake up moment. If you are willing to invest in learning and listening you can avoid a lot of mistakes yourself. If it is a car or a home or a certain bag that has you waking up to hustle and kick butt, as a result of hustling you can create a revenue machine, your company. Once you get the car, the bag, the house, a few things happen. Number one, you're revenue machine is up and thriving, number two, you get what you wanted and you will usually have a moment when you realize that the thing you got is cool but it’s not as cool as you originally thought, what else is there? Then you’ll be motivated to see what else you can do with your money, you’ll want to find the ways that you're an influence and impact. The ultimate reward is making an impact. Most people know what they want to be doing right now but they are not moving forward for one reason or another. Many times the thing holding them back is fear, fear of being judged, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of rejection. The key is figuring out what fear is holding you back, acknowledged it, and then list all of the possible outcomes. When you take a look at all the outcomes of doing what you want to do you will realize that the worst thing that could happen is not that bad, you make your peace and learn to live with it. The world needs what you have to offer. How dare you, in order to protect yourself, not share your gifts and ability with the world. When you hold back, you’re not only selling yourself short but you're also holding back on anyone who could benefit from you. One of Chris’ favorite way to get into giving is to attend a high-end philanthropic gala. Find a cause you love, go to their gala, buy a couple of tickets, they will be a little bit expensive but the money goes towards that cause. Being surrounded by philanthropists and business members around you is inspirational and it’s a great time to network, all of the doers and all the influencers are there. There is a special bond created when you giving together. Today Nicholas talks with Connor Blakely, a Gen Z business consultant, partnering with fortune 500 business and companies like Sprint, model sports, HootSuite, speaking at events and conferences, teaching them trends that will help them communicate with the next up and coming generation. Connor drops tips on how you can communicate with each generation in the marketplace and capitalize on your wealth through trend spotting. Time Stamped Show Notes [ 2:17 ] Communicating to the Generations: Youthful Branding [ 6:28 ] Youth Culture. [ 9:20 ] Connor’s Backstory. [ 18:18 ] Generation Changes. [ 28:30 ] Applicable Brand Changes. [ 30:30 ] Goals vs. Vision. Takeaways: Create a youthful brand. Youth is synonymous with: cool, fun, relevant, culturally relevant, and engaging. The culture code for sales and business in the USA is youth, being youthful is something all generations resonate with and want to attain.. When a business or brand incorporates youthful traits in their marketing or general appeal they become more relevant, interesting, and attractive to all generations. There is a new “Youth Culture” that is spanning the generations. While we used to be in a top downtrend, where older generations dictated the trends of the younger generations, we’ve reversed that and are now seeing the younger generation dictate the older. From the way technology is used, to communication, politics, entertainment, fashion trends, marketing, economics. By paying attention to culture your company can use cues from pop culture to make ads that appeal to the current trends that people are following. Double down on humanization over what you would do through digital. If you would send a tweet to a follow change it up and make it more personal. Connor’s example: As a brand, you should hire high school interns, have them go through all of your brand's social media followers and send a personal note via mail, “Hey Todd, love your sunset picture, thanks for following us.” - Send in the mail. Human connection is timeless as is communication. When you can make a genuine in person connection your filling the biggest need and desire for humanity. Twitter is the most powerful tool as well as Instagram video ads. You can use keywords on Twitter to reach and connect with potential leads and clients. Resources: Business Cheat Sheet. Nicholas grew up in Uhrichsville, a small town in Ohio. When he turned 18 years old, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. His first deployment was in 2008 to Ramadi, Iraq where he trained the Iraqi police force and encouraged them to take pride in securing their city’s safety. Shortly after he returned home from Iraq, his unit deployed to support the Drug Enforcement Agency on a mission in the seas of South America. He came home just before Christmas in 2009 and immediately started training for his third and final deployment. Six months later he was in Marjah, Afghanistan where his unit was engaged with the Taliban to secure the safety of civilians and the city’s farmlands. In August 2011, after five years of service and three deployments, Nicholas was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and moved to Tampa Florida. Nicholas tried his first yoga class within a few days of being in his new city and was sure that he would never go back again. Shortly after he began to notice some serious physical problems and they started to negatively impact his life. He also was struggling with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries from his time in service. He had become friends with his yoga teacher and she urged him to come back to maybe a less intensive class. After a few classes Nicholas started to feel the physical benefits of yoga and after long talks with his teacher and more yoga Nicholas fell in love with the practice. Still struggling with his physical and mental challenges Nicholas decided to take it further and in 2014 he signed up for a 200 hour RYT teacher training. This particular training was 8 months long and he knew his journey had just began. Today Nicholas teaches yoga with Exalted Warrior Foundation providing adaptive yoga to veterans who are struggling just like he is. Yoga for him isn’t just a class in studio, it is a tool for every moment in his life to battle the physical and mental challenges he still faces every day.
