He may be nicknamed “The Beverage Whisperer,” but when Ken Sadowsky speaks he's heard loud and clear.  A longtime industry advisor and investor, Ken is one of the most respected and influential voices in the beverage business. Ken is currently the executive director of The Northeastern Independent Distributors Association, known as NIDA, a group of wholesalers that operate in states from Maine to Pennsylvania. He's also a senior advisor with Verlivest, the Belgium-based investment holding company founded by the owners of Anheuser-Busch InBev, which holds stakes in Oatly, Vita Coco and Hint Water. Ken is personally invested in and an advisor to several beverage companies including LifeAid, Icelandic Glacial, Recess and Dyla Brands.  This episode is the third of a trilogy with Ken, who also joined us for conversations in 2016 and 2019. Ken and Taste Radio editor Ray Latif sample drinks representing fast-growing, bleeding-edge and established categories, including better-for-you sodas, cannabis libations, nonalcoholic cocktails, and shots of the juice variety. As they sip their way through a mish-mash of beverages, Ken shares his perspective on trendy concepts, package design, formulation his investment thesis, and successful retail strategies. Show notes: 0:35: Ken Sadowsky, The Beverage Whisperer – Ken and Ray engage in some Sox talk before they dive into a mass of beverages, foreign and domestic. Ken talks about cutting his teeth back in 1983 and his ability to understand what brands have what it takes to go from “the core consumer to the more consumer” and why he's not bullish on non-nutritive sugar alternatives. They sip on some Chamberlain Coffee and chat about how the cold brew coffee category has morphed and whether non-alcoholic cocktails are – at this point – more sizzle than steak. Ken also explains why he's a fan of entrepreneurs with industry experience and why it's important to be nice to your distributors, before sipping on Olipop's limited-edition Barbie collaboration and sharing his take on the future of better-for-you sodas. He also admits to being an “illegal cannabis consumer” (not really), why you should sample beverages warm, getting retailers to merchandise your brand in two locations and the Catch-22 of fundraising. In 2011, Aaron Hinde left his lucrative sports chiropractic practice to push the chips “all in” with business partner and fellow Santa Cruz native Orion Melehan to enter an industry with a failure rate of 99%...the beverage industry. With zero beverage experience and high hopes of creating the next Billion dollar beverage brand, he moved his family off the grid…literally. With two kids he downsized his life to live in a 400 sq. foot home with no power and no income. Obsessed with producing high quality, efficacious, and niche functional lifestyle drinks to replace the high sugar, synthetically caffeinated and artificially laden energy and “sports” drinks, LIFEAID garnered tremendous traction with CrossFitters and Spartan Racers concerned about clean recovery with their FITAID sku. Today, the entire LIFEAID line of FITAID, FOCUSAID, PARTYAID, LIFEAID, IMMUNITYAID, GOLFERAID, FITAID Clean Energy, and powder sticks continue to dominate niche markets as well as garnering significant traction in conventional channels such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Safeway, Kroger, Publix, Walmart, HEB, and Vitamin Shoppe among many others. LIFEAID products are currently sold in tens of thousands of accounts, have 550,000+ active engaged followers on social media, sponsor professional athletes in most major sports, and was ranked in the Inc 500 fastest growing companies in the US three years in a row.Aaron obtained his BA in Economics from Saint Vincent College with a minor in international business and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He practiced in Santa Cruz, CA for 10 years. In 2008, Aaron was elected to serve as a trustee on the Santa Cruz County Board of Education. He was re-elected in 2010. He has since sold his practice and given up politics to focus on making LIFEAID a household name. Aaron is married to his beautiful wife Ramah of 20 years and has two children, 19 y.o. Trinity and 17 y.o. Bronson who are the company's biggest advocates.Find out more at:https://www.lifeaidbevco.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/aaronhinde/https://soundcloud.com/aaron-hinde

While the beverage space is more crowded than it's ever been, back in 2011 Aaron Hinde, co-founder of LIFEAID, was searching for healthy alternatives to what was out there. Being a sports chiropractor at the time, patients would ask him what sorts of drinks they could use to recover from various activities. He was offering some DIY home remedies when it occurred to him that there might be a real need that the market wasn't addressing. The method that LIFEAID uses today is the same that Aaron used when creating the first formulas: look at what you want to achieve in the beverage, find clean, healthy, functional ingredients and make the drink taste great. In this episode Aaron also discusses:How taking the time to say “thank you” to a manufacturer that originally turned them down led to a life changing opportunityHow he lived in a 400 sq ft RV with his wife and two kids in the early days of the companyWhat advice he received to allow the business to focus and growLessons he learned from watching tragedy unfold in his personal lifeYou'll also hear about the restful sleep powder stick line, which has been really important as people adjust to a major increase in screen time over the past 18 months. You'll find Aaron's insights inspiring and humble. You might even decide to try LIFEAID after this episode, I recommend Immunity. This episode is brought to you by Wavebreak8-figure ecommerce stores hire Wavebreak to turn email marketing into a top revenue driver. Most ecommerce brands don't email right... and it costs them. Ep 21: Aaron Hinde is the Co-Founder & President of LIFEAID Beverage Company where he has re-imagined the drink choices of those pursuing an active and healthy lifestyle. Previously immersed in the health field as a Doctor of Chiropractic, he noticed a genuine need in the marketplace for clean and effective sports drinks without the sugar and artificial flavoring. In 2011, Aaron co-founded LIFEAID to provide individuals with specially formulated, low-sugar, high-value natural supplement beverages. In the high-failure world of CPG inundated with huge manufacturers and immense competition, LIFEAID is now on a trajectory to reach $100 million in revenue and is all gas, no brakes. His path to success has been a story of “the road less traveled”. From the party scene to the CrossFit scene, Aaron makes no bones about how passion, work ethic, luck, pushing all the chips onto the table, and personal tragedy have equated to his ultimate success. In this episode he lays it all out there and leaves listeners with the truth about hustle and a personal challenge on how to improve their personal situation and experiences starting now. Today, LIFEAID makes FITAID, FOCUSAID, IMMUNITYAID, PARTYAID, and GOLFERAID. The company also sponsors the CrossFit Games and the U.S Spartan Races. Flowster Live Demo https://flowster.app/live-demo/ Episode Highlights [04:43] — Aaron introduces LIFEAID LIFEAID Beverage Co. started by making products for the CrossFit community. They aim to make beverages that are healthy and enjoyable. With 3,000 retail accounts, LifeAID earned $16 million revenue this year and continues to grow by 25-30% every year. [08:22] — Control your choices and mindset  When the real estate market crashed, Aaron had to file for bankruptcy. His finances and ego both took a hit. Our perceptions form our thoughts, words, and actions. These directly affect our choices and the results that they create. By controlling his words and actions, Aaron found that he started to progress — slowly but surely. Overcoming adversity requires that you change your language. [13:54] — Breaking free from the victim cycle  Being a victim means you are not in control. Discard the "cause and effect" mindset. Adopt the mindset that "cause plus reaction equals effect." We have the ability to choose. [17:06] — Ditching materialism When the house he had worked on for 17 years burned down, Aaron took this experience as an opportunity for growth. Don't assign permanence to material things. Words, thoughts, and actions are what last forever and hold the most weight. [19:31] — Dealing with bankruptcy  After going bankrupt, Aaron and his family lived in a 400-square foot RV. LIFEAID started as a side hustle with a fellow CrossFit enthusiast, Orion. Eventually, they decided to devote their time entirely to LIFEAID because they couldn't serve two masters if they wanted their business to succeed. Their finances were tight during this period. This experience served as a lesson in humility for Aaron. [23:36] — Choosing your target market and offering them something new Looking for tips that they can apply to their business, Aaron joined a high-level marketing group. There, Dean Jackson advised him to choose a single target market. By doing so, you can focus your time and resources on putting together a great product. Aaron emphasizes that you should bring something new to the market and not follow the usual path to compete in the market. [28:55] — How is LIFEAID different from other energy drinks?  Rather than an energy drink, LIFEAID belongs to the healthy energy or performance energy space. Their ingredients consist of moderate hits of natural caffeine with green tea, nootropics Alpha-GPC, GABA, and B complex. It's cleaner and more sustainable approach that aims to stimulate the brain and nervous system. LIFEAID costs more, but it's different and healthier than other energy drinks in the market. [31:26] — Creating their products   Because of his background in nutrition, Aaron is well-versed in the right ingredients to use. Aaron researched the best ingredients to use and worked with a food scientist to make LIFEAID's first products. [38:12] — Hiring the right people    Don't hire people out of desperation. If you do, it might cost you more in the long run. Instead, make sure that your prospects are a good cultural fit and can keep up with your company's progress. [41:35] — Increasing business capabilities    Focus on learning new things. Encourage holistic growth for the business. Pass on what you learn to the team so that you are all growing. Assess your goals. If you are not satisfied with the results, choose better. [44:41] — Developing the business process    It's better to develop your business process sooner rather than later. Aaron hired a consultant who helped them set up a quarterly vision statement. Creating the systems and processes for your business is a constant work in progress that you revisit and upgrade over time.

619: LIFEAIDE Aaron Hinde   LIFEAIDE Aaron Hinde, LIFEAIDE   – The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 619 Aaron Hinde In 2011, Dr. Aaron Hinde left his lucrative sports chiropractic practice to push the chips “all in” with business partner and fellow Santa Cruz native Orion Melehan to enter an industry with a failure rate of 99%, the beverage industry. With zero beverage experience and high hopes of creating the next billion-dollar beverage brand, he moved his family off the grid. With two kids he downsized his life to live in a 400 sq. foot home with no power and no income.    Obsessed with producing high quality, efficacious, and niche functional lifestyle drinks to replace the high sugar, high caffeine and artificially laden energy and “sports” drinks, LIFEAID garnered tremendous traction with CrossFitters and Spartan Racers concerned about clean recovery with their FITAID sku. Today, the entire LIFEAID line of FITAID, FOCUSAID, PARTYAID, LIFEAID Turmeric, IMMUNITYAID, LIFEAID Hemp, GOLFERAID, and powder sticks continue to dominate niche markets as well as garnering significant traction in conventional channels such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Safeway, Kroger, Walmart, CVS, HEB, Vitamin Shoppe and GNC among many others. LIFEAID products are currently sold in tens of thousands of accounts, have 550,000+ active engaged followers on social media, and was ranked in the Inc 500 fastest growing companies in the US three years in a row.    Aaron obtained his BA in Economics from Saint Vincent College with a minor in international business and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He practiced in Santa Cruz, CA for 10 years. In 2008, Aaron was elected to serve as a trustee on the Santa Cruz County Board of Education. He was re-elected in 2010. He has since sold his practice and given up politics to focus on making LIFEAID a household name.    Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Aaron Hinde about LIFEAID. Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show: ●    How good positioning in your marketplace can lead to product distribution in conventional channels. ●    Why it’s important to hire people who are the right cultural fit and will represent your brand well. ●    How LIFEAID is a beverage that tastes good and keeps you hydrated. ●    How LIFEAID has different beverages to help different needs of your body. ●    Why challenges should be looked at as opportunities to become a better entrepreneur.   Connect with Aaron: Guest Contact Info Twitter @DrinkLIFEAID Instagram @lifeaid Facebook facebook.com/DrinkLIFEAID Links Mentioned: lifeaidbevco.com   Learn more about your ad choices. Today we are talking about a story in TIME, titled “The Pandemic Is Turning Americans Against the Gym. That Could Be a Good Thing for the Nation's Health.” https://youtu.be/cy36oiFHnKQ What? Yes. At the very core of it, many of us are learning how to be healthy within our own four walls. A study commissioned by LIFEAID found that a quarter of Americans never plan to return to their old gyms. A survey in June run by Healthline found that the same number of people don't miss working out in a gym or studio. It's a good indicator that, among sentiments about the safety of any short term return to old fitness habits, Americans are finding another path.TIME spoke to a number of fitness instructors and researchers and heard only variations on the same core opinion: that people will miss human contact and return for the sake of having access to a greater variety of equipment. But what this pandemic has done, for the greater majority of Americans not previously members of gyms, is make fitness more accessible. Digital workouts are everywhere. Exercise equipment is being scooped up faster than it can be produced and stocked. Running trails are being beaten down by countless additional footsteps. Among these trends are a new kind of fitness fanatic: those who never went to the gym in the first place. I'm going to take the easy way out and read this quote directly from the article, because I don't know if I can phrase it any better. TIME writes:“The ingrained idea that people need to go to the gym to get fit is part of the problem. There are countless reasons for someone to dislike gyms. Maybe they can't afford membership dues, or their local facility doesn't offer child care, or they don't have time to drive back and forth, or they feel self-conscious exercising in front of people, or it freaks them out to see a bunch of humans running around like hamsters on wheels. If they're a person of color, non-binary, older or bigger, they may feel unwelcome in environments often overwhelmingly inhabited by young-ish, fit, white, cisgendered people. The list goes on.”Please be sure to like, subscribe, provide a five-star rating, and write a review. It's free to you and means the world to me. Thank you for listening, and I'll catch you tomorrow.

Notably silent was CrossFit, Inc., even when major affiliated brands, like Reebok, LifeAid, and Rogue weighed in on the topic. As gym owners and community members reached out to CrossFit to ask for moral leadership, an email surfaced from founder and Chairman Greg Glassman calling a gym owner in Seattle evil, and saying he believed COVID had made her delusional. In the midst of the uproar on Friday, Glassman coyly tweeted “FLOYD-19” to a group studying racism as a health risk for black Americans. At this point, gyms started to announce de-affiliation with CrossFit. On Sunday, I weighed in with a video talking about our community's relationship with race, and stating WODDITY would no longer be CrossFit-adjacent, while de-affiliation gained momentum. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBJCSoggKmJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link As of now, there is a list being circulated with 245 gyms, representing over $730,000 in lost annual revenue for CrossFit. Major sponsors like Reebok, ROMWOD, Rogue, and LifeAid Beverage Company have stated they're ending their relationship with the brand pending ongoing conversations about CrossFit's leadership behavior and existing contracts. On the list of gyms ending their relationship with the brand include 12 Labours -  the gyms behind the Strength in Depth Sanctional, Invictus - with a longstanding history of competitive teams and athletes, NCFit - a gym and online training platform built by 2008...

Joining us in this episode is Jessica Weiss Levison, founder and CEO of Peekaboo Organics, a maker of indulgent organic ice cream infused with “hidden” vegetables. Launched in 2018, Peekaboo drew immediate interest from several national retailers who saw value in the brand’s better-for-you positioning. The products, which include chocolate ice cream with hidden cauliflower and a strawberry variety made with carrots, are carried nationwide at Kroger, along with hundreds of Safeway, Whole Foods, and Target locations in select regions. In our conversation, Levison spoke about how she transitioned from a career in law to the ice cream business, addressed the often-asked question about why consumers needs vegetables in their dessert, why building a community around the brand is critical to its retail and funding strategies, and why winning over kids is not as challenging as she expected it to be. Also, a can’t miss discussion about how to avoid slotting fees. Show notes:  0:33: Investing In Immunity, Dr. Bunson Honeycraven & A Groundwork For Today -- The hosts encouraged listeners to tune in (and submit questions) to “Office Hours,” BevNET’s interactive livestream program that is produced on Tuesdays at 3 PM, and spoke about topics from a recent episode including immunity-focused innovation. They also riffed on a couple sparkling water products, why John and Mike could be in a remake of “The Muppet Show,” discussed an interesting update with a super-premium coffee brand and reminded folks about the benefits of subscribing to BevNET and NOSH. 13:08: Jessica Weiss Levison, Founder/CEO, Peekaboo Organics -- Levison spoke with Taste Radio editor Ray Latif about how getting fired from her job propelled her into entrepreneurship, lessons from her first foray into the ice cream business and the massive benefit from certifying her business as woman-owned. She also discussed her unconventional way of meeting a Target buyer, the challenges formulating Peekaboo products, initial reception to the brand, why a specific demographic “gets” the concept better than others and why she undertook a packaging revamp. Later, she shared her process for fundraising and the big difference between investors that offered capital and those that didn’t. My passion for athleticism and my ability to equip people with the formula to preform at maximum capacity has played a major role throughout my career. My name is Aaron Hinde and I am the Co-Founder and President of LIFEAID Beverage Company, where we re-imagine what you drink. LIFEAID is a leading manufacturer of premium, healthy, and convenient nutritional products designed to boost performance and speed recovery for people pursuing active and healthy lifestyles. After earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College, I served as Clinic Director at Hinde Chiropractic Sports Injury and Pain Center for over ten years. As one of the top practices in Santa Cruz County, I helped over 5,000 individuals, including professional athletes, erase their pain and return to function as quickly as possible. Being immersed in the health field, I noticed a genuine need in the marketplace for clean and effective sports drinks without the sugar and artificial flavoring. In 2011, I co-founded LIFEAID to provide individuals with specially formulated, low-sugar, high-value natural supplement beverages. Each of our five beverage options, FITAID, FOCUSAID, LIFEAID, TRAVELAID, GOLFERAID, and PARTYAID, are made with custom ingredients to provide customers with unique benefits ranging from enhancing athletic execution, to delivering mental acuity and improved concentration. In addition to providing top-of-the-line products to over one million customers worldwide each month, the team at LifeAID is committed to giving back. We proudly support our local community, as well as sponsor dozens of top CrossFit athletes, Spartan Racers, and PGA professionals. In 2011, Dr. Aaron Hinde left his lucrative $350k a year sports chiropractic practice to push the chips “all in” with business partner and fellow Santa Cruz native Orion Melehan to enter an industry with a failure rate of 99%...the beverage industry. With zero beverage experience and high hopes of creating the next Billion dollar beverage brand, he moved his family off the grid…literally. With two kids he downsized his life to live in a 400 sq. foot home with no power and no income. Today, the entire LIFEAID line of FITAID, FOCUSAID, PARTYAID, LIFEAID, IMMUNITYAID, CBD, and GOLFERAID continue to dominate niche markets as well as garnering significant traction in conventional channels such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Safeway, Kroger, Walmart, CVS, HEB, Vitamin Shoppe and GNC among many others. Aaron is married to his beautiful wife Ramah of 17 years and has two children, 15 y.o. Today’s episode is a fantastic story about chasing a dream despite the difficulty, and getting creative despite the setbacks. In 2011 Dr. Aaron Hinde and his friend Orion whom he met at the crossfit gym created the Lifeaid beverage company after Aaron realized that there was not a healthy alternative to the energy drinks sold in stores. Having no money, no experience and entering an industry with a 99% failure rate, they pushed on by focusing on creating a product that people would love. After succeeding in creating a healthy, low sugar, great tasting energy drink that worked… they realized that the much more difficult task was getting distribution. How could they take on the giants such as Monster and Red Bull and get shelf space when NOBODY knew who they were? This is where they got creative and changed their model. This pivot changed everything. Lifeaid quickly grew and is now selling 2.5 million cans per day and they are on track to do $35 million in revenue for 2019. You can now find the Lifeaid brand beverages at most grocery stores and gyms around the country. This is an incredible story about persistent and out of the box thinking. In this episode of The BarBend Podcast, we talk about LIFEAID's rise from scrappy startup to major fitness player. That includes guerilla marketing campaigns, bootstrapped operations, and trying to build a brand while living from one week to the next.We also dive into how Aaron's background as a clinical chiropractor impacts his perspective even today, allowing him to spot trends in fitness before they take off. With two kids, he downsized his life to live in a 400 sq. foot home with no power and no income. Obsessed with producing high quality, efficacious, and niche functional lifestyle drinks to replace the high sugar, high caffeine, and artificially laden energy and “sports” drinks he saw on the market. Orion Melehan is the co-founder and CEO of LIFEAID - known throughout the CrossFit community for the bubbly delights stored in gym fridges across the land. Orion and I discuss the trade-offs of rapidly scaling a growing business, how to understand proper sequencing in terms of when it’s appropriate to take certain actions in business, and how LIFEAID plans to stay true to their mission as they expand outside of the fitness subculture into more mainstream markets in grocery stores. Orion also has a background as a house DJ, which allows for a bit of digging deep into musical details (always a great time). If you're enjoying the show, the best way to support it is by sharing with your friends. If you don't have any friends, why not a leave a review? It makes a difference in terms of other people finding the show. You can also subscribe to receive my e-mail newsletter at www.toddnief.com. Most of my writing never makes it to the blog, so get on that list. Show Notes [01:43] Orion’s seemingly contradictory background as both a certified financial planner and a DJ, as well as his early entrepreneurial ventures (including a record store). [08:30] The process of crafting a DJ set – and balancing your own desires with the desires of the audience. The differences between being a “technical” DJ and going off the feel of the crowd, and developing DJ skills in a time before comprehensive DJ software. [15:25] Starting LIFEAID with multiple different SKUs, and figuring out how to prioritize the many different options. The benefits of understanding direct response marketing and split testing offers with different markets. [24:33] How to manage ultra-fast growth – and how to figure out what you’re going to let break and what you’re going to stay on top of. And why being starved of capital during a growth phase is better than being flush with capital. [33:18] Breaking into the very high barrier to entry beverage space through direct response marketing, understanding the long tail and subcultures, and hiring during rapid expansion. [40:47] How LIFEAID plans to manage its expansion from a niche community (CrossFit) into mainstream areas like grocery and convenience stores while maintaining the vision for the company. Just continuing to create products for already healthy people doesn’t serve the mission of getting the population off of sketchy energy drinks. [52:45] How to find the optimal balance between optimizing things that are already working while still being innovative and expanding into new markets. LIFEAID’s goal of solving different problems for their customers throughout the day – the goal is to have products for all the different “jobs” customers buy beverages to accomplish. [01:00:32] How to think about the sequencing of growth in a company and do things in the correct order. Crafting new quarterly vision statements and creating alignment across the team based upon objectives and key results – as well as creating an environment in which the best ideas can percolate throughout the organization from the bottom up. Aaron Hinde: LIFEAID founders Orion Melehan and Aaron Hinde first met at a CrossFit® box in Santa Cruz, California, in 2009. Melehan was a Certified Financial Planner™ and Hinde was a sports chiropractor, working with local athletes. A friendship was quickly struck between them, later evolving into a business partnership. The two were convinced that health-conscious consumers would start to demand alternatives to high-sugar, high-caffeine and artificial mass-marketed drinks—in search of products that better aligned with their lifestyles. They were equally convinced that consumers were looking for more functionality beyond that of the caffeine found in energy drinks or isotonic sports drinks. Nik Ingersöll spends a lot of time thinking about ugly bananas. The co-founder and CMO of Barnana, a fast-growing producer of snack foods made from imperfect and misshapen bananas, Ingersöll is responsible for the brand’s marketing and design strategy. To put it another way, his job is to get people excited about snacks that might not be the most visually appealing. And he’s been lauded for his efforts; Barnana is known for its bold packaging and quirky promotions, which includes the Barnana Car, which, as you may have guessed, is a big banana on wheels. In an interview included in this episode, Ingersöll spoke about how Barnana has won over consumers with an unique style that’s focused on grabbing a consumer’s attention from the first moment they see the brand and its snacks. “[When] that consumer is going to see that product for the very first time, they’re going to see the front of the package,” he said. “And if you don’t capture that, nothing else matters. Because they’ll never pick it up, they’ll never put it in the cart.” As part of our conversation, Ingersöll also discussed how the company determines what to include on front of packaging, and explained his perspective that brands have to take risks to move the market. He also spoke about how he balances internal feedback about design from investors, board members and co-workers. Show notes: 1:27: New to Nootropics? Today we’re on the 74th episode of the Healthprenuer Podcast. I am chatting with Aaron Hinde, sports chiropractor turned President and Co-Founder of LIFEAID, the beverage company that is the official sponsor of the CrossFit Games. I met Aaron five or six years ago, and man, how his company has scaled and succeeded since then!  Aaron was inspired to start LIFEAID when he realized that all the energy drinks out there – while cool, sexy, hip, and perfectly-branded – are filled with junk and just plain bad for you. Makes sense, right? What’s cool is that, to this day, Aaron and his company haven’t budged on their commitment to clean, functional products. This integrity hasn’t gone unnoticed, and the numbers prove it.    Through this growth, Aaron has learned some key lessons in hiring, “going big” (or not), cash flow, and ROI. He’s even made some game-changing realizations about himself as an entrepreneur and the people he brings on the team. This episode is for any entrepreneur looking to scale their business while maintaining the integrity and quality of their offering. Tune in for priceless nougats of business wisdom topped off with a morning routine that has Aaron prepped for more great things to come!    In this episode, Aaron and I discuss:   The inspiration for LIFEAID and how they became the CrossFit Games official sponsor  Standing for quality and functionality from the very beginning   The challenges and successes when rapidly growing the company  How his role and hiring process has evolved over time  “Going big,” taking on investors, and cash flow for stockholders  The start-up struggle to stay focused on ROI     1:00 – 5:00 - Aaron, his company, and his beginnings   5:00 – 8:30 - The mindset during product development: Cool, sexy, hip, functional, and clean  8:30 – 11:00 - Cash flow, mentorship, and looking to information marketers to sell online  11:00 – 14:30 - Success through a B2B offer, seeing the customer’s perspective, and teamwork  14:30 – 20:00 - Growth changing Aaron’s role, their hiring process, and patience  20:00 – 22:00 - Focusing on cash flow, taking on investors, and holding off on “going big”   22:00 – 23:00 - Losing focus on ROI-based decisions: Nightclub party fail  23:00 – The Rapid Five

The former chiropractor of ten years, helped over five thousand people through his practice.  Along the way he noticed there was a need for clean, effective sports drinks. [ 30:15 ] Scaling and hiring, Aaron gives us resources to use as we grow our businesses. [ 34:56 ] Adding a referral option to your business, involving customers.                                                         Top Takeaways: When you have a business partner it is vital to have an open line of communication, you have to check your ego at the door. You each are in this partnership because you have something to offer, you both have unique abilities. Divy up the responsibilities so that each of you are working in the areas of your strengths.       No matter what niche you’re in, no matter your industry, find people who are successful and engage with them as your mentor. Find where they are, what they are selling, buy into it. Being interested in them will have them interest in you.   When building and scaling your business make sure your employee candidates are brand advocates, people who already believe in your company and in your product. It’s also important to be specific in your job advertizing, be very descriptive on what you are looking for and what you are not looking for. You want people who know and agree with your company's core values.
