Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Author Jim Valois takes us on a journey through the dangerous waters of modernism – not the technological or cultural kind, but the theological heresy that threatens to undermine Catholic teaching at its core. For young people seeking solid ground in a world of shifting values, this confusion can be particularly devastating. The conversation opens with Jim's personal story of reverting to Catholicism after years in evangelicalism. His experience illuminates how poor teaching and modernist influences can drive faithful Catholics away from the Church, only to have them return when they encounter the fullness of truth preserved in authentic Catholic tradition.Pope St. Pius X recognized this danger over a century ago, calling modernism "the synthesis of all heresies" and implementing reforms to combat its spread."Truth is not a something, truth is a somebody – Jesus Christ." By returning to Scripture, the Catechism, and the Church's living tradition, believers can find their way through the fog of modernism to the clarity and peace that only unchanging truth can provide.Jim's Article "Defeating Modernism" @ the Catholic ExchangeOur Ladies Prophecies By Jim ValiosDownload the Claymore Battle Plan for Men! “Take the next step, whatever that might be.” Fr. Mario Amore joins Men of the Hearts hosts Fr. Craig Giera and Fr. Drew Mabee to talk about his journey to the priesthood. His path was full of twists and turns, with stops in altar service and music ministry. After applying to Sacred Heart Major Seminary and subsequently delaying enrollment for two years, Fr. Mario finally took “the next step” to answer God's call. (0:26) Hosts Fr. Craig Giera and Fr. Drew Mabee introduce their guest this month, Father Mario Amore, Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit who also serves as a priest in solidum for the Resurget Cineribus Family of Parishes, which includes St. Aloysius, Old St. Mary's, and the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Amore reflects on his last few months, including Christmas and the annual SEEK conference. (6:55) Fr. Mario is no stranger to podcasts, having previously hosted the Archdiocese of Detroit's I AM HERE podcast in support of the National Eucharistic Revival. Our hosts join Fr. Mario in a discussion about some of the beautiful stories shared through that effort. Fr. Mario also shares his experience hosting the Certifiably Catholic podcast alongside Mary Wilkerson and Mike Chamberland, current hosts of Archbishop Vigneron's Eyes on Jesus podcast.(12:25) Fr. Drew and Fr. Craig reflect on their last few months. Fr. Drew has been “learning the lay of the land” at his assignment in Novi and recently had dinner with his brother and a longtime friend. Meanwhile, Fr. Craig has been encouraged by increasing attendance at Sacred Heart Major Seminary's recent Discernment Weekends. The group also talks about the significance of altar serving to encourage vocations to the priesthood.(20:12) Fr. Mario shares his vocation story. He attended Catholic school as a child and attended Mass every Saturday evening with his family, “doing whatever I had to do to embarrass [my parents].” Still, he remembers his maternal grandfather predicting that he would become a priest one day. He started serving the parish as an altar server before taking a detour into music ministry as a teenager. Ultimately, his interest in theology led him to explore taking classes at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, which he calls his “first foot in the door” of discerning the priesthood. (33:11) Fr. Mario recalls attending a discernment weekend at Sacred Heart. He was already familiar with the academic experience of the seminary, having taken classes since high school, but his discernment weekend affirmed for him that he could find joy in the brotherhood and community of Sacred Heart. After working in a parish for two more years, Fr. Mario finally decided to apply to become a seminarian—but waited and discerned another two years before officially entering the seminary.(44:53) Fr. Mario talks about his time as a seminarian at Sacred Heart, his ordination in 2015, and celebrating his first Mass at St. Pius X in Southgate on the anniversary of his baptism at the same church. He also touches on what it's like to serve both as a parish priest and Detroit as Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit. He then offers his advice to men considering the priesthood: “Take the next step, whatever that might be.” The episode concludes with a prayer and blessing.

SPECIAL GUEST DON FROM THE BRONX Cultural Affairs Correspondent Men cut that gap to under 10 million. If they can get that down to 9.5 or 9 million Trump will win the election. You can't have the unions out there denouncing this man now. The tax rate that kicks in for overtime is the highest possible so you really don't make much of anything when you work overtime. This solves that. If you want to appeal to Independent/Moderate voters, I would wipe out all the taxes on bonuses. AUDIO/VIDEO: JD Vance on CNBC - Economics and Tariffs - If you want access to American markets, you can't use shiny slave labor. Let's talk about big tech, I think Apple benefits from Chinese slave labor and I think that is sick. Americans are addicted to cheap Chinese crap. It would be painful initially but you'd end up getting better products that are better sourced. It is time to return jobs to our country. AUDIO/VIDEO: JD Vance on ABC News - Kamala Harris Plans - The American people are smart and Kamala Harris talks to them like they are children. She talks a lot about her plans but more importantly the American people don't get fed on plans. I think it comes through in his commentary but I'd like to see a little more of his Catholicism shine through but he is hopeful. There is no hope in the Harris/Walz ticket. BACK with SPECIAL GUEST DON FROM THE BRONX Is anyone surprised at this point? I hate to say that but we have heard a lot of stuff from this current Pope. It is hard for us laity out here. He is also making it hard for those that want to convert when they hear things like this. Why do the hard Catholic stuff when I can be on my own path and arrive at the same destination? Like Marjorie Taylor Greene, she was a cradle Catholic, she said I didn't leave the Catholic Church the Catholic Church left me. Tremendous damage to the Church. We have seen movement to the traditional aspect so God is in charge and He knows what He is doing. There is still much work to be done. Europe has basically lost the Catholic faith. Council of Florence - France is the oldest daughter of the Church and that is not by accident. Innocent II, Gregory XVI, Pius IX and Pius X all condemned indifferentism. The Catholic faith if you are practicing it requires you to say these things. You don't have to go find people and yell at them. I'm not afraid of any of this. Men need to get out of their man caves and get into Church and on your knees. THAT will change this culture. President Trump did something on Sunday that warmed my heart and made me smile from ear to ear. Most Catholic politicians wouldn't even think to wish Mother Mary Happy Birthday on social media. Our Catholic president Joe Biden sure didn't! Melania's newest book - it was just going to be a beautiful coffee table book but she added information about the attempted assassination attempt on her husband. She is graceful, she dresses modestly, she dresses humbly and I think she is a great influence on Donald Trump though her.

Having seen how St. Pius X was totally consumed with love for God, we may wonder how he could also have room for a great love for his fellow man. And, we may say that, in the end, there was not enough room, for he died of a broken heart. We all know that the spiritual life begins with humility. That virtue provides the foundation on which all else is built. But, then, once its roots have been well watered, the soul is able to grow and extend its branches and leaves, until it finally blooms flowers and starts to produce delicious fruits. Those fruits are the works of charity.Today, let us look at some such works in the early priesthood of our patron: his almsgiving, his poverty of life, and his tirelessness in working for others.

On the feast of Pope St. Pius X, which falls on September 3rd, we reflect on the connection between this holy and St. John Vianney, the Curé d'Ars. Both of their lives instruct us on the meaning of the priesthood and living the virtue of poverty.
We know that Our Lord says that “where your heart is, there also your treasure is.” And I believe that this indicates that every man must have some love within him, some predilections, and that it is the central love of his heart that really directs and explains all of his activity. And when we try to plumb the heart of our sainted patron, I do not think that it is too difficult to find what was burning in its depths; indeed, we find there an overwhelming love of God. To say this may seem obvious and even trivial, but I believe that it can be missed in the hype about the many activities of our saint. For this reason, I want to speak today about St. Pius X's love of God.Really, I believe that it was this great love of God in St. Pius X that makes of him for us our hero. There is a certain sadness that afflicts us at seeing all of the causes dearest to our heart failing in an apostate Western world. God has been forcefully driven from the public sphere by the revolution, the highest places in the Church have been occupied by secularized clerics, and civilization at large has descended into the sewer of base hedonism. Evil seems so triumphant and the blindness it engenders irremediable. We are tempted to ask ourselves: isn't there anyone around to stand up for the rights of God? Are there any fighters for the good who are left? Must our age be one without champions? And then we look back at that great figure in white, that towering pontiff of 100 years ago who faced off against the same formidable forces that are triumphant today, the same one who said that “evil triumphs when good men do nothing?”And what do we see? We see Modernists cowering in fear, the immoral abashed at their behavior, the heretics hesitating to voice their opinions. We see the good rallied around the peasant Pope, young men and women rushing to consecrate their lives to God and Church, Catholics banding together in confraternities and guilds and political groups to fight the revolution tooth and nail.In short, we see this Rock of a Pope, standing in gigantic proportions, a look of calm and fierce determination on his face, pushing forward step by step into a world of darkness, with an entire army gathering around him, driving back all that is bad and wrong and evil in this world and the world below. This picture is not too far from the truth, as you know! And how can all of this be possible? Because of a most ardent love of God. Because of something we call an interior life.
Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) was one of the greatest sacred composers of the 20th century, best known for his Requiem and his motet "Ubi caritas". His lush and tranquil choral and organ works combine a deep familiarity with Gregorian chant with the style of impressionism, imbued with a sense of prayer as he was a devout Catholic. Organist and choirmaster Christopher Berry, who studied organ under Duruflé's widow, Marie-Madeleine Duruflé, joins the podcast to discuss Maurice Duruflé in his historical context as someone who, from childhood, was schooled in the Church's ancient chant tradition, and as an adult applied Pope St. Pius X's instructions for sacred music which were so influential on that generation. Schooled at the Paris conservatory, Duruflé received rigorous training in improvisation, which was the core skill for French organists at that time. His approach to improvising on chant and hymn melodies can still be heard in Catholic churches today. Full Text of ReadingsMemorial of Saint Pius X, Pope Lectionary: 421The Saint of the day is Saint Pius XSaint Pius X's Story Pope Pius X is perhaps best remembered for his encouragement of the frequent reception of Holy Communion, especially by children. The second of 10 children in a poor Italian family, Joseph Sarto became Pius X at age 68. He was one of the 20th century's greatest popes. Ever mindful of his humble origin, Pope Pius stated, “I was born poor, I lived poor, I will die poor.” He was embarrassed by some of the pomp of the papal court. “Look how they have dressed me up,” he said in tears to an old friend. To another, “It is a penance to be forced to accept all these practices. They lead me around surrounded by soldiers like Jesus when he was seized in Gethsemani.” Interested in politics, Pope Pius encouraged Italian Catholics to become more politically involved. One of his first papal acts was to end the supposed right of governments to interfere by veto in papal elections—a practice that reduced the freedom of the 1903 conclave which had elected him. In 1905, when France renounced its agreement with the Holy See and threatened confiscation of Church property if governmental control of Church affairs were not granted, Pius X courageously rejected the demand. While he did not author a famous social encyclical as his predecessor had done, he denounced the ill treatment of indigenous peoples on the plantations of Peru, sent a relief commission to Messina after an earthquake, and sheltered refugees at his own expense. On the 11th anniversary of his election as pope, Europe was plunged into World War I. Pius had foreseen it, but it killed him. “This is the last affliction the Lord will visit on me. I would gladly give my life to save my poor children from this ghastly scourge.” He died a few weeks after the war began, and was canonized in 1954. Reflection His humble background was no obstacle in relating to a personal God and to people whom he loved genuinely. Pius X gained his strength, his gentleness and warmth for people from the source of all gifts, the Spirit of Jesus. In contrast, we often feel embarrassed by our backgrounds. Shame makes us prefer to remain aloof from people whom we perceive as superior. If we are in a superior position, on the other hand, we often ignore simpler people. Yet we, too, have to help “restore all things in Christ,” especially the wounded people of God. Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media
St. Pius X, Pope (Memorial)
Friends of the Rosary, Today, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Pius X, Pope (1835-1914). He was a defender of the purity of Christian doctrine and worked for the restoration of the Church's worship. Today is also the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Knock in Ireland. On August 21, 1879, Our Lady appeared with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist in Knock in County Mayo. 15 people witnessed her. To the left of St. John, dressed as a mitered bishop, stood a simple altar with a young lamb before a cross. Angels encircled this area. The figures, all robed in white, were raised a couple of feet above. In the vision, which lasted about two hours, Mary stood in the middle, clothed in white garments. She wore a brilliant crown and a golden rose over her forehead, and her hands were raised as if in prayer. The silent apparition spoke louder than words with an eloquent message uniting earth and heaven. All knew it was Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Queen of Angels. People not at the apparition site reported seeing a bright light illuminate the area around the church. Many of the sick were healed upon visiting the church at Knock. A golden rose is often the symbol of this Marian apparition. Pope St. John Paul II presented a golden rose to the Shrine on his visit on September 30, 1979. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • August 21, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET

Many are (rightfully so) frustrated with the lack of reverence and adherence to doctrine at some Catholic Masses today. However, is SSPX (Society of St. Pius X) founded by Archbishop Lefebvre the answer? Can a Catholic validly attend one of their Masses or receive their sacraments? Are they in schism or not? Hear Fr. Chris Alar explain this as well as other Ecclesiae Dei communities such as Fraternal Society of St. Peter (FSSP) and the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICKSP) Are you enjoying this podcast? When Storms Hit: Trust in the Captain! In this episode of The Patrick Madrid Show, Patrick addresses a heartfelt dilemma from a devout Catholic listener. She's torn between her love for the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) and her discomfort with the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) community near her. Listener's Dilemma: Raised Catholic: Deeply committed to her faith. SSPX Parish Nearby: Feels uneasy about their anti-Pope stance. Love for TLM: Finds the Traditional Latin Mass profoundly beautiful. Valid Mass: Believes the new Mass is valid and respects those who attend it. Deep Dive: Understanding SSPX If you're unfamiliar with SSPX, Patrick will tell you more about it and how it came about. The Society of St. Pius X was founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in the mid-20th century. Lefebvre, a French-speaking bishop, was dedicated to the traditional liturgy and established a seminary in Switzerland. He upheld the traditional Latin Mass even after Vatican II introduced the Novus Ordo Mass. Key Points: Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre: Missionary work in Africa; founder of SSPX. SSPX and Vatican II: Opposition to the changes introduced by Vatican II's Sacrosanctum Concilium. Consecration Controversy: Lefebvre's unauthorized consecration of four bishops in 1988 led to excommunication by St. Pope John Paul II. Current Status: Excommunications lifted by Pope Benedict XVI, but SSPX remains in a complex canonical status. There's still a lot of confusion, unfortunately. The Ongoing Debate: Schism or Not? Canon lawyers and church authorities debate SSPX's official standing. Confession Faculties: Pope Francis granted SSPX priests faculties to hear confessions. Flourishing Independently: Despite the controversies, SSPX has grown with numerous chapels and vocations. Patrick's Insights: Affirming Validity: The new Mass is valid. Even SSPX adherents should recognize this, despite their criticisms. Current Restrictions: Acknowledge the restrictions on TLM but maintain peace and trust in Jesus. Biblical Wisdom: Patrick draws a parallel with Mark 4:35-41, where Jesus calms the storm while the apostles panic. Advice for the Journey: Stay Calm: Don't let the fear overwhelm your faith. Trust in Jesus: He guides the Church through all storms. Remain Loyal: Stay faithful to the Church and avoid fringe groups. Pray and Hope: Things will improve with time. Reflection Passage: Mark 4:35-41: Reflect on Jesus calming the storm and trust in His leadership through turbulent times. Inspiring Hymn: Stabat Mater Dolorosa: A beautiful reminder of standing faithfully at the foot of the cross, just like Our Lady. Final Encouragement: Stay the course, remain Catholic, and trust in Jesus. Remember, this is His Church, and He will guide it safely through every storm.

The SSPX Podcast is produced by Angelus Press, which has as its mission the fortification of traditional Catholics so that they can defend the Faith, and reaching out to those who have not yet found Tradition. What is the SSPX? The main goal of the Society of Saint Pius X is to preserve the Catholic Faith in its fullness and purity, to teach its truths, and to diffuse its virtues, especially through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Authentic spiritual life, the sacraments, and the traditional liturgy are its primary means of bringing this life of grace to souls. Although the traditional Latin Mass is the most visible and public expression of the work of the Society, we are committed to defending Catholic Tradition in its entirety: all of Catholic doctrine and morals as the Church has always defended them. What people need is the Catholic Faith, without compromise, with all the truth and beauty which accompanies it. https://sspx.org
