Funny enough, he learned his ways from Sam Hinkie, the former Sixers GM who was fired by the league before ever getting to finish his master plan. Based on the current success of the Thunder, could the Sixers copy their formula to get back into contention? In other news, Gillie Da Kid called out Paul George and the entire Sixers team on a recent podcast episode. Lastly, RB provides his Big Board 2.0 for Sixers draft prospects with the 3rd overall pick. Logan and Raja are back to dive into the Thunder's decisive Game 7 win against Denver to head to the conference finals. It seems like Denver ran out of gas for the second straight year, this time against the young and spry Thunder. Has OKC met expectations so far? What's next for the Nuggets and Nikola Jokic? Has Shai entered another level of superstardom? Shai and Anthony Edwards are the two stars people will be watching most closely in the next round of the playoffs. What should we expect to see from both of them? The Knicks and Pacers will face off for the second postseason in a row for a chance to advance to the finals. How will the Eastern Conference finals play out? "Everyone's looking at your glory, not your story." Wallo, podcast host of Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Author and Motivational speaker BIG Pivot today....The Podcast Collab of the year! In this episode of The Pivot Podcast, in partnership with Fanatics, Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with the Philadelphia duo, Wallo and Gillie, who are trailblazers in new media, utilizing life experiences from music, the streets, life and loss to shape black culture and excellence through their various platforms and their hit podcast "Million Dollaz Worth Of Game." This is truly long overdue and much needed, bringing together our two massive platforms and five men who see life differently but all have the same goal and path forward is one of the most powerful conversations you can tap into right now. The conversation weaves in and out of funny moments that will have you hysterically laughing to somber moments of reflection and impact, where wisdom and game is exchanged. The authenticity of who Wallo and Gillie are at their core reigns through in everything they do as most of the conversation is joking around with their gift to take serious subjects and make light of them in order to bring awareness. Bickering on just about every wild topic, from sports to music to prison showers to the best brand of soap to which athletes party harder, and even how their own podcast started. Gillie and Wallo take the guys through their interactions with fans and how they believe they've managed to become such a force in both black culture and podcasting because of their relatability with other people. "We remind people of their uncles," said Gillie. Much of what we learn in life is through experiences and the value of shared information is key to growth in all areas which is something Wallo and Gillie stress to Ryan, Channing and Fred. Having powerful platforms is important but how the guys use their platforms to provide messaging and how people, young and old, see them is shaping culture and future generations. Talking top headlines, the guys chat about the current landscape of sports, present-day NFL, the culture surrounding today's highly paid athletes, and the challenges that come with the game's evolution. Gillie gives some personal advice to his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, breaking down what they need to do to win, which had all the guys heeled over laughing. Wallo, on the other hand, opens up about opportunity and writing "Armed With Good Intentions", a book detailing his journey of mistakes, mishaps and lessons from his time in prison to the invaluable lessons he learned. His story of resilience and redemption offers powerful takeaways that resonate with anyone going through tough times or feel lost in what they are doing. The strength of Wallo and Gillie is to have tough conversations regarding race in America, manifesting in the smallest ways with big impact, the everyday struggles of black men down to how the black experience isn't perfect but stress ways of prioritizing protection and hoping to show paths of growth and alternate approaches to success. The conversation wraps reflecting on everyone's journey, navigating the unforeseeable future and power in the Pivot....It's never too late to Pivot and that's a Million Dollaz Worth Of Game. New Episodes out every Tuesday at 12pm EST and Fridays 3:30pm EST. Wallo's Book, "Armed With Good Intentions" is out now and a must read! Learn more about your ad choices. Most well known for his culture platform Million Dollarz Worth of Game, which he created with his cousin Wallo 267, Gillie shares how his objective was to always get out the streets and he was determined to make it. With hiccups along the way, Gillie says that going to college was one of the most transformative experiences in his life. This experience broadened his horizons and showed him that your destiny is in your hands and not in the white men, a myth that many people in the Black community believe. Gillie becomes emotional and opens up to Fred, Ryan, and Channing about the recent loss of his son, YNG Cheese, a well-known Philadelphia rapper. He says the loss of his son has left a black hole in his heart that could never be replicated. A trying time for Gillie and his family, and he admits that revenge is on his mind. However, with the help of his amazing support systems, he's managed to keep his purpose first and chose to remain a role model for those within the community. Ryan acknowledges that Gillie inspires many people and he's done an amazing job by allowing the world a front-row seat into his growth as a man. Gillie shares a candid story about a fan seeing them and becoming emotional, insisting that listening to Million Dollarz Worth of Game stopped him from taking someone else's life. Gillie says these are the moments he lives for and his favorite part of the show. Philly native, it would be remiss if Ryan didn't ask Gillie's thoughts on if the Philadelphia Eagles will win the SuperBowl this year. Gillie assures Ryan that they will and they have the best defense in the league. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
IN HIS FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE LOSING HIS BROTHER, TR3 SEVEN SPEAKS CANDIDLY ABOUT HIS CAREER, HIS PARENTS AND THE LOSS HIS FAMILY HAS SUFFERED
Been gone for a minute but we are finally back with another new and funny episode of the podcast. We kick things off with LL Cool J's comments on rappers retiring on Sway In The Morning. Before kicking a freestyle on the show, he talks about how rap isn't a sport and calls out those who flirt with want to retire as a way of being bored with their careers. The marauders give their take on LL's words on retirement and why we shouldn't fall for it. After that, we talk about ageism in hip hop today after rapper Asian Doll wrote in a now deleted post on Twitter/X that people who are trying to make it in rap at/over the age of 30 is crazy. With the word going around thanks to DJ Akademics, other rappers sounded off on the post through social media as well. Nick and Jared give their thoughts on Asian Doll's post and also comment on Gillie Da Kid's comment on stop rapping past the age of 35 months ago on his podcast. Plus they ask if there should be an age limit on people trying to rap and make it in the rap game. Later, after celebrating 50 years of rap/hip hop on August 11th, many publications from Rolling Stone to Complex have made lists on the best rappers/groups/songs of all time by celebrating. Rappers have also voiced their opinions on some lists and some have even ask people on why certain rappers haven't made these lists and ask why they were overlooked. California rapper Mistah F.A.B. asked while watching the Hip Hop 50 concert from Yankee Stadium why MC Hammer wasn't a part of the show due to his contributions in the early 90s. First and foremost we would like to offer our condolences to Gillie Da Kid, his Wife, Children, and entire Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We applaud his career off the court and look ahead to possible changes coming. Speaking of Magic, Magic 2 is out as what headlined a Friday full of music from some heavy hitters as well as lesser known acts on the rise. We review Nas' latest project, then I share what I think you should give a listen to in “New Drops”. Plus more bad news for the Raiders as two of our young draft picks are placed on the injury list. "Don't make no excuses, surround yourself with the right people, and do the shit!" - Gillie Da Kid It is widely believed that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Are you surrounding yourself with winners? People who challenge you to level up? Or are you limiting your own acceleration by surrounding yourself with those who are on a fast track to NOWHERE? If you are the smartest person in the room, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG ROOM. Sure, it's comfortable to stay in places you're familiar with, around the people you grew up with; the people you're used to. It might seem intimidating to branch out and insert yourself into the winners' circle - but in order to grow and learn and excel, you MUST get out of your comfort zone. Social dynamics are more important than most people realize, and you must understand that your network is your net worth. Diversify your circle. "But HOW, Clinton?" you ask. I've heard all the excuses. "I don't have connections." "I don't get invitations to the Grammy parties." "These people don't know me." "I live in the middle of nowhere - nothing is poppin where I am." When I was starting out, I HAD NO CONNECTIONS EITHER. My friends, while the internet is both a blessing and a curse to this industry - it has made it EASIER THAN EVER BEFORE to make connections, grow your network, and find out about events that YOU CAN ACCESS. To learn about seminars, conferences, and panels where influential industry executives, artists, and investors are gathering either in person or virtually (you don't even have to leave your home?!) - and many of these events are available to you for FREE! Instead of mindlessly scrolling social media - USE IT INTENTIONALLY! Your mentor could be a DM away. Winners don't have time for negativity or people who are content living a mediocre life. The company you keep is a reflection of who you are and where you are going. Just ask Gillie Da Kid, who has never been afraid to surround himself with industry heavyweights. Check out our conversation and be inspired. Your friend, Clinton For more, visit: https://www.howtowinbiginmusic.com Follow Clinton Sparks: https://www.instagram.com/ClintonSparks/
