It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes. We started this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about training camp and what we're predicting as the biggest surprise to come out of the warm-up period. Whether it's Vasily Podkolzin winning the Ty Rattie award, Josh Brown securing a spot on the opening day roster, or Travis Dermott securing a contract, the boys were tossing out their boldest takes on what we think will happen in the coming weeks. Changing gears, we looked at the news from this past week that both Evander Kane and Darnell Nurse will miss the start of training camp (and beyond) due to some injuries they're still working through. Even though we knew that Kane was likely to miss some time, finding out that Nurse will miss some time early is a significant blow to a d-corps that is not exactly the deepest. Sticking with the defence, we also said farewell to Markus Niemelainen after signing a deal to play in Berlin after spending the last six years in the Oilers organization. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Even with training camp just around the corner, the boys still managed to yammer on for over an hour about everything in the world of hockey despite nothing happening quite yet.

Alex and Chace are back with another week of NHL news to break down. Unfortunately, they recorded the night of Peter Chiarelli's firing. However, the guys still look at the waiving of Ryan Spooner and Ty Rattie. Along with the what Alex and Chace can only call a bizarre extension to Mikko Koskinen. Following this, the guys look at the Nino Niederreiter for Viktor Rask swap. Chace tries to make sense of it while Alex has none of it. Overall, the guys both seem to find it confusing. After that, they touch on the Teuvo Teraveninen extension. A deal that both guys made much more sense out of. They break down Teravienen's play and why this deal is a solid one. Next, Alex brings up the NHL Bye-Weeks and how it will affect teams. They debate the good and bad of having all bye-weeks by the deadline. Overall, Alex and Chace both seem to like it. Lastly, the guys talk about Matt Duchene. Duchene is rumoured to have been given an 8x8 contract extension. Alex feels like he is the only Sens fan in the world who thinks this is a bad idea. See why he and Chace both think this will be a poor decision for Ottawa. Tune in for all of this and more, with the MnM Hockey Podcast!

The carousel at right-wing keeps turning for the Edmonton Oilers, with Drake Caggiula catching fire in back-to-back games and hanging onto a spot on the top line alongside star Connor McDavid, even though Ty Rattie — the regular on McDavid’s right-hand flank — was ready to return to the lineup. So there’s that, and there’s also the strong play of a couple of others on the right side, Alex Chiasson and Zack Kassian, who for the moment are entrenched on the second- and fourth lines, respectively. Which leaves the youngest two right-wings, Kailer Yamamoto and Jesse Puljuarvi, both who have yet to leave a firm impression on the NHL club’s lineup. Oh, what to do if you’re Oilers head coach Todd McLellan and general manager Peter Chiarelli. But it’s a nice problem to have, considering how last season played out. Podcast host Craig Ellingson talks to hockey beat writers Derek Van Diest and Jim Matheson about the winger situation as well as about goaltending and the return of rookie defenceman Evan Bouchard to his junior team, the London Knights.

With another week in the books, that means it was time for a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to land in your ear holes. It's the weekly podcast that discusses all things Oilers and whatever else we can crowbar in. It's been another action-packed seven days for our beloved Edmonton Oilers since we last recorded, and they finished their week with a 3-1 record which gave us plenty to talk about. We start things off by recapping the week that was, specifically going through the games against Minnesota and Chicago and talking about how sometimes the stats don't always match up to results. With that in mind, Cooom drops a hot take on us about a major player being moved out of town and we give our thoughts on whether or not it will happen. Major player? Leaving? Say it ain't so, Cooom. Next up, we looked at the Oilers upcoming road trip four-game road trip which starts off in Detroit on Saturday and I wanted to know what the boys think McLellan will do with his goaltenders. Will he go back to Koskinen after registering his first shutout of the year or will he go back to Cam Talbot who struggled a bit in his last start against the Wild? As the Oilers continue to play well, these decisions will come under more and more scrutiny and we debate what we think is the correct approach with the goaltenders. From there, we get into Drew Doughty's interview with NHL.com where he talks about being scared of Connor McDavid so we took a few minutes to gush over the captain. Lastly, we get into a heated debate over The Answer title that currently lives with Alex Chiasson. Before him, Ty Rattie held the title but lost it due to injury. Will he be able to regain the belt upon his return? Will someone else throw their name into contention? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Better than expected! Hell, We even send some compliments Ott's way, and so far the sky hasn't fallen. Better than expected! All that, plus the usual tomfoolery. After a two week 'break' that saw us release two bonus episodes, Elan and Brian are back for the first 'regular' episode Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast of the year.   This edition opens with an injury and a rant, as Brian lets the world know what he thinks of 'clean hits' in the wake of Patrik Laine's concussion. The guys go on to pinpoint a few rosters that have been hit particularly hard by the injury bug-- Nashville, Montreal, and Florida-- and assess the absences of a scoring winger that poolies, Kings fans, and maybe even Anze Kopitar would love to have back, as well as a first line forward in the desert who is obviously Martin Hanzal. Outjuries come next, with the guys rueing the return of not just a goalie but a goalie controversy in Philadelphia, lauding a rejuvenated lot of top six forwards (and perhaps another goalie controversy to be imminently reignited) in Tampa Bay, wondering whether there's room for more than one productive blueliner in Pittsburgh, and realizing there's not much new to say about the returns of an injury-prone Blackhawk and Hurricane. A short goalie-centric interlude follows, where the league's newest number one goalie's tier placement is assessed, hope is shared regarding a long-standing tandem situation morphing into a clearer #1/#2 scenario, and hope is dashed by two guys who refuse to run away with the starters' job when given the opportunity. Hot streaks feature an entire line of flaming Flames, a near-entire top six of Wild running wild, and an entire touchdown of Leafs who are making it harder to use the word 'Leafy' as a negative connotation. A surprising scoring leader in Vancouver, not either of the first three blueliners you'd guess in Washington, a couple young Red Wings and a pair of Pups (that's what you call a baby shark) round out the segment. And finally, the show closes with cold streaks, with unsurprising visits to the infamous 3rd line in St Louis, and the higher lines in Colorado.  Players mentioned on this episode include Patrik Laine, Mikael Backlund, Bo Horvat, Michael Frolik, Kevin Fiala, Aaron Ekblad, Tyler Johnson, Victor Hedman, PK Subban, Matthew Tkachuk, Kris Letang, Justin Schultz, Connor Brown, Zach Hyman, Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, Ryan Strome, Kevin Labanc, Timo Meier, Jacob Trouba, Drew Stafford, Nik Ehlers, Joel Armia, Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien, Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, James Neal, Viktor Arvidsson, Juuse Saros, Pekka Rinne, Tyler Toffoli, Milan Lucic, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez, Alex Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, Seth Griffith, Alex Galchenyuk,  Brendan Gallagher, Paul Byron, Philip Danault, Nathan Beaulieu, Martin Hanzal, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Radim Vrbata, Michal Neuvirth, Steve Mason, Nikita Kucherov, Ondrej Palat, Jonathan Drouin, Vladislav Namestnikov, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Ben Bishop, Marian Hossa, Artemi Panarin, Jonathan Toews, Vinny Hinostroza, Justin Faulk, Ty Rattie, Derek Ryan, Victor Rask, Jeff Skinner, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Andrew Ladd, John Gibson, Jonathan Bernier, Brian Elliott, Chad Johnson, Alex Chiasson, Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, TJ Brodie, Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, Eric Staal, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, James van Riemsdyk, William Nylander, Jake Gardiner, Morgan Rielly, Dmitry Orlov, Loui Eriksson, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasiou, Alex Steen, Jaden Schwartz, Tyson Barrie, Matt Duchene, Torey Krug, John Klingberg, Jon Carlson and more. * * *   Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes!   If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson.    Keeping Karlsson patrons can join our patron-only Facebook group and take part in (and receive audio from) a monthly live, face-to-face and interactive Keeping Karlsson recording!   You can also support us by telling a friend, subscribing to and reviewing Keeping Karlsson on iTunes, and following us on Twitter (@keepingkarlsson). Goalie confusion abounds on the newest episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! Why are some of the best goalies actually awful so far? Why are some of the oldest 'tenders dodging regression for their 3rd year in a row? How badly should you want an awful goalie on one of the best teams in the league? What #2s are potentially morphing into #1b? We also flip through a bunch of recently outjured players to see if our projections have changed for them since their last NHL action-- including a PPQB and one-time starting goale in the Atlantic, an old soul in San Jose, and a finally returned Blue. Also, Brian mistakes Juuso Riikola's first name for Juusi. Please accept our sincerest apologies. Join our Fanduel Weekly Listener League! Registration opens Tuesday around 10am ET.
