Review Lessons 171-180IntroductionWe now review again. This time we are ready to give more effort and more time to what we undertake. We recognize we are preparing for another phase of understanding. We would take this step completely, that we may go on again more certain, more sincere, with faith upheld more surely. Our footsteps have not been unwavering, and doubts have made us walk uncertainly and slowly on the road this course sets forth. But now we hasten on, for we approach a greater certainty, a firmer purpose and a surer goal.Steady our feet, our Father. Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. We have no words to give to You. We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him.So do we bring our practicing to You. And if we stumble, You will raise us up. If we forget the way, we count upon Your sure remembering. We wander off, but You will not forget to call us back. Quicken our footsteps now, that we may walk more certainly and quickly unto You. And we accept the Word You offer us to unify our practicing, as we review the thoughts that You have given us.This is the thought which should precede the thoughts that we review. Each one but clarifies some aspect of this thought, or helps it be more meaningful, more personal and true, and more descriptive of the holy Self we share and now prepare to know again:God is but Love, and therefore so am I.This Self alone knows love. This Self alone is perfectly consistent in Its thoughts; knows Its Creator, understands Itself, is perfect in Its knowledge and Its love, and never changes from Its constant state of union with Its Father and Itself. And it is This That waits to meet us at the journey's ending. Every step we take brings us a little nearer. This review will shorten time immeasurably, if we keep in mind that This remains our goal, and as we practice it is This to Which we are approaching. Let us raise our hearts from dust to life, as we remember This is promised us, and that this course was sent to open up the path of light to us, and teach us, step by step, how to return to the eternal Self we thought we lost.I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. God's Son is crucified until you walk along the road with me.My resurrection comes again each time I lead a brother safely to the place at which the journey ends and is forgot. I am renewed each time a brother learns there is a way from misery and pain. I am reborn each time a brother's mind turns to the light in him and looks for me. I have forgotten no one. Help me now to lead you back to where the journey was begun, to make another choice with me.Release me as you practice once again the thoughts I brought to you from Him Who sees your bitter need, and knows the answer God has given Him. Together we review these thoughts. Together we devote our time and effort to them. And together we will teach them to our brothers. God would not have Heaven incomplete. It waits for you, as I do. I am incomplete without your part in me. And as I am made whole we go together to our ancient home, prepared for us before time was and kept unchanged by time, immaculate and safe, as it will be at last when time is done.Let this review be then your gift to me. For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. The Self from Which I call to you is but your own. To Him we go together. Take your brother's hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. In him I walk with you, and you with me. Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. What lives but must not then be one with you?Let this review become a time in which we share a new experience for you, yet one as old as time and older still. Hallowed your name. Your glory undefiled forever. And your wholeness now complete, as God established it. You are His Son, completing His extension in your own. We practice but an ancient truth we knew before illusion seemed to claim the world. And we remind the world that it is free of all illusions every time we say:God is but Love, and therefore so am I.With this we start each day of our review. With this we start and end each period of practice time. And with this thought we sleep, to waken once again with these same words upon our lips, to greet another day. No thought that we review but we surround with it, and use the thoughts to hold it up before our minds, and keep it clear in our remembrance throughout the day. And thus, when we have finished this review, we will have recognized the words we speak are true.Yet are the words but aids, and to be used, except at the beginning and the end of practice periods, but to recall the mind, as needed, to its purpose. We place faith in the experience that comes from practice, not the means we use. We wait for the experience, and recognize that it is only here conviction lies. We use the words, and try and try again to go beyond them to their meaning, which is far beyond their sound. The sound grows dim and disappears, as we approach the Source of meaning. It is Here that we find rest.LESSON 171Review of Lessons 151 - 152God is but Love, and therefore so am I.(151) All things are echoes of the Voice for God.God is but Love, and therefore so am I.(152) The power of decision is my own.God is but Love, and therefore so am I.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Once again we meditate on an Old Testament passage that is all about Jesus Christ. When we read " 5  The Lord God has opened my ear,     and I was not rebellious;     I turned not backward. 6  I gave my back to those who strike,     and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face     from disgrace and spitting. 7  But the Lord God helps me;     therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint,     and I know that I shall not be put to shame." We realize that Christ humbled Himself in so many ways, even giving His cheeks to His tormentors. Chad meditates on this and the meaning of "Word of the Father". Lynn sings "Step by Step". Welcome to a journey of transformation and revelation in the Word! We are excited to invite you to join us as Prophet Hari Rao leads us through a powerful series on the School of Power. This is not the journey of accumulating; it is the journey of becoming. Prepare your heart to unlock the keys to victory, breakthrough, and stepping into your God-given destiny. The Holy Spirit is God's power, but our understanding of Him comes through the Word. Without the Word, we lack the foundation to fully grasp His power or purpose. The Word is the source of God's power in our lives, yet many believers today lack a strong foundation. They may have testimonies, but they don't truly understand why they follow Jesus. Every believer must develop a personal “recipe” from the Word for every situation, testing every belief against Scripture.  Too often, we are captivated by the supernatural while neglecting foundational truths. This leads to a shaky walk with God, as our faith becomes rooted in external experiences. True transformation, however, is an internal work that unlocks dimensions of Christ. For this, we need structure—a solid foundation rooted in the Word. Jesus Himself responded to temptation with the Word, setting a precedent. Without a strong foundation in Scripture, it's impossible to discern the prophetic or recognize deception. The Word becomes the boundary for what is spoken or experienced, guiding us in truth and keeping us anchored. Doctrine is the core of what we believe, and every believer needs systematic discipleship to grow from spiritual infancy to maturity. A biblically shaped mind is essential, for it is not enough to be spiritual; you must be biblical. While the truth gives you wings, prayer is the wind beneath those wings. Together, the Word and Spirit empower your life. The journey of faith is not about accumulating but becoming.  Every believer must commit to a disciplined, daily walk with the Word, for you reflect the word you have been absorbing. The Word saves you from deception  The Word fuels your prayer life  The Word sharpens your discernment  Faith comes by the hearing of God's Word You defeat satan and the demons by the Word You overcome temptation by the Word  The Word carries you into your success Everything begins and ends with the Word. With all your getting, get the Word, for in it lies the power to shape your life, defeat the enemy, and carry you into all God has prepared for you.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." Pr 16:3 NIVAs a follower of Jesus Christ, vour direction shouldn't come from people and be confirmed by God, it should come from God and be confirmed by people. The Bible says: "Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good; God probes for what is good. Put God in charge of your work, then what you've planned will take place. God made everything with a place and purpose" (vv. 1-4 MSG).You may be able to do what someone else has done and do it even better. But has God called you to do that particular thing? Before you follow someone else's guidance, do these: (1) Check the source of their wisdom. "The Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless...he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair--every good path" (Pr 2:6-9 NIV).(2) Check their motives. John writes, "I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened" (Rev 20:12 NKJV). Will one of those be "the book of motives"? And if it is, will your actions and accomplishments stand up under divine scrutiny? (3) Check the outcome they're pursuing. If you seek success in order to have power and prestige, or seek riches only to have comfort, you violate one of the core principles of God's Word:You're blessed in order to be a blessing to others.I Blessed to be a blessing to othersSupport the show

Ed Welch and Amber discuss coming at those living with a psychiatric diagnosis from broader category of "in this world you will have trouble" and how instances of suffering in the Bible can be applied to mental health. They also discuss, the place medication holds in the life of the sufferer and how Jesus speaks into the pain. Questions Discussed During Psychiatric Diagnosis & God's Word: You have been counseling for over 40 years and on staff with CCEF for the same amount of time. What are some shifts you've witnessed in regards to how Christians talk about, interact, and treat psychiatric diagnoses or mental illnesses?  When it comes to talking about it from a pulpit, are there biblical examples that can be used to call it what it is, even though that's not necessarily the exact "words" that may be written in the word? In your newest book, I Have a Psychiatric diagnosis: What Does the Bible say?, You begin by bridging the divide between the psychological world and the spiritual world. Why do people often draw a line between the two? And how do you help people to bridge the divide? What do you mean by we are embodied souls? As someone who lives with depression I found your description of the physical body experiencing weakness, yet being able to be strengthened--in some cases with medication, incredibly helpful. So much so I read the chapter to my husband. Will you share that with our listeners to help remove some of the stigma around those who take medication, while also helping those who suffer not view medication as the CURE? When does anxiety move beyond "normal" to something more serious? How does trauma need to be treated a bit differently? You end addressing narcissism. How is narcissism different from the others and how do we even begin to interact with those living with narcissism in a life-giving way? Show Notes cont. The Cost of Compromise With the World Genesis 19 October 9, 2022 Pastor Tony Felich  Sermon Application [file] ----more---- Genesis 19:15 As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city.” [16] But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. [17] And as they brought them out, one said, “Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away.” [18] And Lot said to them, “Oh, no, my lords. [19] Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. [20] Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there—is it not a little one?—and my life will be saved!” [21] He said to him, “Behold, I grant you this favor also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. [22] Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Genesis 19:30 Now Lot went up out of Zoar and lived in the hills with his two daughters, for he was afraid to live in Zoar. So he lived in a cave with his two daughters. [31] And the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the earth. [32] Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve offspring from our father.” [33] So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father. He did not know when she lay down or when she arose. [34] The next day, the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine tonight also. Then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve offspring from our father.” [35] So they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. [36] Thus both the daughters of Lot became pregnant by their father. [37] The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day. [38] The younger also bore a son and called his name Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites to this day. What is the cost of compromising with the world? •       You will lose sight of the eternal •       You will lose sound judgment •       You will lose sensitivity for God's Word •       You will lose credibility and influence 2 Peter 2:7 and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked [8] (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); [9] then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials…

REVIEW V Introduction We now review again. But now we hasten on, for we approach a greater certainty, a firmer purpose and a surer goal. Steady our feet, our Father. Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. We have no words to give to You. We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him. So do we bring our practicing to You. And if we stumble, You will raise us up. If we forget the way, we count upon Your sure remembering. We wander off, but You will not forget to call us back. Quicken our footsteps now, that we may walk more certainly and quickly unto You. And we accept the Word You offer us to unify our practicing, as we review the thoughts that You have given us. This is the thought which should precede the thoughts that we review. Each one but clarifies some aspect of this thought, or helps it be more meaningful, more personal and true, and more descriptive of the holy Self we share and now prepare to know again: God is but Love, and therefore so am I. This Self alone knows love. Let us raise our hearts from dust to life, as we remember This is promised us, and that this course was sent to open up the path of light to us, and teach us, step by step, how to return to the eternal Self we thought we lost. I take the journey with you. God's Son is crucified until you walk along the road with me. My resurrection comes again each time I lead a brother safely to the place at which the journey ends and is forgot. I am renewed each time a brother learns there is a way from misery and pain. I am reborn each time a brother's mind turns to the light in him and looks for me. I have forgotten no one. Help me now to lead you back to where the journey was begun, to make another choice with me. Release me as you practice once again the thoughts I brought to you from Him Who sees your bitter need, and knows the answer God has given Him. Together we review these thoughts. Together we devote our time and effort to them. And together we will teach them to our brothers. God would not have Heaven incomplete. It waits for you, as I do. I am incomplete without your part in me. And as I am made whole we go together to our ancient home, prepared for us before time was and kept unchanged by time, immaculate and safe, as it will be at last when time is done. Let this review be then your gift to me. What lives but must not then be one with you? Let this review become a time in which we share a new experience for you, yet one as old as time and older still. Hallowed your name. Your glory undefiled forever. And your wholeness now complete, as God established it. You are His Son, completing His extension in your own. We practice but an ancient truth we knew before illusion seemed to claim the world. And we remind the world that it is free of all illusions every time we say: God is but Love, and therefore so am I. With this we start each day of our review. With this we start and end each period of practice time. And with this thought we sleep, to waken once again with these same words upon our lips, to greet another day. No thought that we review but we surround with it, and use the thoughts to hold it up before our minds, and keep it clear in our rememberance throughout the day. And thus, when we have finished this review, we will have recognized the words we speak are true. Yet are the words but aids, and to be used, except at the beginning and the end of practice periods, but to recall the mind, as needed, to its purpose. It is Here that we find rest.71. LESSON 171 God is but Love, and therefore so am I. (151) All things are echoes of the Voice for God. God is but Love, and therefore so am I. Guest: Pastor Jarrett Stephens  Champion Forest Baptist Church Jarrett's books: The Mountains Are Calling: Making the Climb for a Clearer View of God and Ourselves The Always God: He Hasn't Changed and You Are Not Forgotten Why should a man go to church? First, don't discount the person and message of Jesus Christ because of something that happened to you or something you've seen or heard from those who are followers (real or self-proclaimed) of Jesus. Second, the church is one of the only places (ecosystem, if you will) that you'll find humility, authenticity, and people who truly want the best for your life. The church is one of the only places that celebrates “servant-leadership” and not “self-centeredness.” Third, the church is the epitome of diversity - in today's world where “diversity” is celebrated and pursued, the church really is the fulfillment of unity through diversity - all walks of life, all ages, all cultures, colors, skills, abilities - all part of the body of Christ! What should I look for in a church? First, start with the core components evident in the Book of Acts. Biblical teaching - have to have an authoritative source. The church should point people to the person of Jesus.  The church should be Scripture filled, Jesus centered, Holy Spirit inspired. Second, look for a Biblical community, a place where your family can get plugged into, etc. Third, things that give you pause. Jarrett - “blessed are the balanced.” Look out for an imbalance that focuses too much time and energy toward one component to the detriment of others. Try to find a church that's “balanced.” Recent study - 90% of men say they have never heard a sermon that related to work.  Jarrett - men, at some point, we have to learn to be “self-feeders.” You can't just settle for someone else opening up and teaching from the Word - YOU need to dig in and see what the Word has for you. Train yourself for godliness. Men are passionate about things that are important to them - are you passionate about your spiritual life and growth? Recent study - if the husband/father of the family goes to church, the family is 90% more likely to attend. Men, your example leads your family spiritually - either for the good or for the bad! Jarrett - as a dad, it's my responsibility to put my family in a positive place for their growth and development. Take-away: Find a good church. Don't sit in the stands of life, get in the game. You get out of something what you put into it.

Is it sweet to you- Do you cultivate a taste for it- --How do you use God's Word- You must actually pick it up and read it, and discipline yourself to read and understand - even if that means giving up time from some other pastime that you enjoy. This does not come naturally for anyone- But as you cultivate a taste for God's Word, it will become sweet to you. --What benefit does God's Word have for me- We have spiritual enemies that are always on the lookout to throw us down, and the Scriptures have the wisdom we need in order to combat them. When Dr. Luther taught the meaning of the First Article, he started by teaching what God gives or provides according to His almighty power. Luther wrote, "I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them. He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life." One of the greatest lies of our culture today is that what is "ours" is ours: "Our" bodies are ours, "our" lives are ours, "our" time is ours, etc. Wrong! Consider God's Word: "You are not your own, for you were bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:19b and 20a). You were also created with a price, with a "price tag" that means you have infinite value because you belong to God. You are not your own. All that you have in accord with First Article gifts has come from God. To claim these things as our own is to ignore the Creator, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to pretend that what is the LORD's is only ours. This is not only an illusion. It is also a sin. The LORD, however, is so good, so kind, so loving, and so merciful that not only did He heap our selfish, gobble-up-everything-claiming-it-as-our-own sin upon Himself to cover it with His atoning blood, but then He chose to actually GIVE TO US His Kingdom! How? By giving us Himself, the King! Christians are now in this amazing situation: They speak the truth when they say that what is theirs is really God's, but now in Christ, what is Christ's is also--really and truly--also theirs. How do we live in this Law/Gospel reality of what belongs to God and what belongs to us? We say that every good and perfect gift is from above (James 1:17), and that whatever we say is "ours" is only because our Savior Jesus has given it to us to care for and to also say, "To God alone be all the glory!" In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us Your gifts of faith, hope, and love that we may receive the forgiveness You have promised and love what You have commanded; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our LORD, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Audio Reflections Speaker: Pastor Duane Bamsch

Today's Reading: Ezekiel 34:11-16 Daily Lectionary: Exodus 33:1-23; Luke 7:1-17 For thus says the LORD God: "Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out." (Ezekiel 34:11) In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The LORD spoke these words to Ezekiel the prophet because God's under-shepherds had neglected His people. They were unfaithful shepherds, unreliable, not feeding the sheep, but only feeding themselves (Ezekiel 34:2). The LORD would not stand for it and announced His solution: He Himself would be the shepherd of His sheep, His people (Ezekiel 34:15). God has stood by this resolution ever since. But really?! The last time I checked, my pastor was just a man. Where is God as shepherd? The answer is that while it is true that your pastor is "just a man," he serves in a way that is not his own. The called and ordained pastor serves in the Office of Christ, by the authority of Christ, and through the Word and Sacraments of Christ. What the pastor speaks is Christ's Word, not his own. Luke 10:16 records the words of Jesus when He spoke to the first under-shepherds who were genuine and true--that is, who would be as Christ to God's people: "The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me." Okay, but how do we recognize the true under-shepherds who bring the Chief Shepherd Christ? The answer is quite clear: "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." Always "test the spirits," that is, test whether what is being preached and taught is in accord with the Word of Christ. Be as the Bereans were. What did they do when they heard Paul preach? Acts 17:11b tells us, "They received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so." So, at the end of the day, we know that Christ is shepherding us through His Word! The sheep of God follow the True Shepherd because "they know his voice" (John 10:4). "A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." But we do know the voice of Christ so that we recognize the true under-shepherds who give us Christ, the Chief Shepherd. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. O God, by Your almighty Word You set in order all things in heaven and on earth. Put away from us all things hurtful, and give us those things that are beneficial for us; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our LORD, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Audio Reflections Speaker: Pastor Duane Bamsch

Today, Saturday March 13 Romans 12:1-2 – “Transformed Through the Word” You are what you think! And you determine what you think about! You will think about those things that you have chosen to intake into your mind. If you are watching certain programs on TV all the time, that's what will be on your mind. Have you ever heard, “Garbage in, garbage out?” A.W. Tozer said, “If you want to know what kind of person you really are, what does your mind go to, in your leisure moments?” Wow! That should really make you evaluate what you are allowing to go into your mind. Your eyes and ears are the gateway to your soul! To have a renewed mind, that is transforming your life every day, you must faithfully and diligently determine to take time each day to have an intake of God's Word and then make every opportunity to meditate on it. The Great Commandment in Deuteronomy 6 reminded the people of Israel the only way they could love the Lord their God with all their heart was to be thinking constantly about what God had said! “And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart, and you shall diligently teach them to your children…. And talk about them during every activity of your day!” What do you think about most of the time? This would be a great day to evaluate your thinking and ask the Lord to give you grace to begin meditating on His Word! God bless!

For this episode, we bring you something a little bit different. A few months ago, we were invited to work in collaboration with the podcast Refugee Voices Scotland, and make a guest series for a new podcast called The Sounds of Integration. We decided to make a series on the theme of community. It’s a series celebrating the power of community, but also thinking about what happens when communities are put under strain. When people move from one place to another, moving away from the community they know and into a new one. When borders and visas separate us. When being within two metres of another person becomes dangerous. Can communities survive physical distance? How can we support each other when we can’t stand beside each other? We’ve called the series ‘What does community mean to you?’, and it features lots of short interviews with interesting people. This is the first episode from the series, which we’re releasing on the Accentricity feed as a taster. If you’d like to hear the rest of the series, you can subscribe to the Sounds of Integration podcast using this link, or through your podcast streaming app of choice. The Sounds of Integration is made by the UNESCO Chair for Refugee Integration Through Language and the Arts at the University of Glasgow. You can find them on Twitter @UofGUnescoRILA. *** This episode is called We’re All Allowed To Be Who We Are. It features stories from five Glasgow residents. Below is some information about each of them, in order of appearance. The conversations in this episode took place in October and November 2020. * Marzanna Antoniak is a culture animator, community development worker, and a language teacher with a special interest in working with people who have had little experience of formal education. (Mark 2:3-5) In a village called Capernum, in Northern Isreal, Jesus was at a friend's home, fully packed with people, telling them about the Good News from God. Four desperate men brought their friend for healing. I love the way the Amplified version states it Mark 2:3-5 “Then they came, bringing to Him a paralyzed man... When they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Jesus; and when they had dug out an opening, they let down the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying. When Jesus saw their [active] faith [springing from confidence in Him], He said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Faith is seen in action, not in confession. Pay attention to this truth and keep acting on God's revealed Word to you. Remember that every Word of God concerning you will be fulfilled. Be confident in God's Word. Act on His Word. Let us pray Father I thank You For every Word You spoke concerning me. I am confident that Your Word will not go back to You void so I rest in this truth and take necessary and needful steps. As I take the needful steps, I thank You because You will crown all my actions with Your glory and good success in Jesus' name. THE WORD "You planted the seed. Seeds in the ground require something to grow. Water. You're gonna have to water it. Well, what do I water it with? You're gonna water it with the Word. Because the Word is water. It's seed. First of all, the seed that you planted is the Word. The water that you use is the Word. Everything. The ground that you planted it in is the Word. It's your heart. But it's also, that's the ground that is being filled with the Word. That has been treated with the Word, to prepare it to receive the seed. Obviously, before you plant the seed, the ground itself has to be prepared. It has to go through, well, that's also the Word. The preparation of your heart is the Word. The planting of the seed is the Word. The watering of the seed is the Word. And it's the Word that will cause the harvest to come. Everything is in here. Everything is in here." Throughout history philosophers have asked many questions. You've asked them too. What is the meaning of life? Where did I come from? What happens when I die? Is there life after death? How do I get to heaven? Why does evil exist? Why do I struggle to do good? In addition to these "big" questions, the Bible gives much practical advice in areas such as: What do I look for in a mate? How can I have a healthy marriage? How can I be a good friend? How can I be a good parent? What is success and how do I achieve it? How can I change? What really matters in life? How can I live so that I do not look back with regret? What do I do with my guilt? How can I overcome the unfair circumstances and bad events of life? To each of these questions there is in answer found in the Bible. Why? Because it is God's word to mankind; helping us know how to live life. However, it's not just understanding that God's word brings. Consider this... Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Psalm 119:1 There it is again...that word blessed. Literally, it means, happy. The Word of God brings happiness into your life because it brings freedom. You can be free from the culture as it pressures you into its shape like plastic molding. How about spending at least 15 minutes a day in the Word? You can do it. It's a matter of priority really. Spend the time in God's book and experience understanding, happiness, and freedom. You will not be disappointed!

REVIEW V Introduction We now review again. Let us raise our hearts from dust to life, as we remember This is promised us, and that this course was sent to open up the path of light to us, and teach us, step by step, how to return to the eternal Self we thought we lost. I take the journey with you. It is Here that we find rest.71. LESSON 171 God is but Love, and therefore so am I. (151) All things are echoes of the Voice for God. God is but Love, and therefore so am I. The Fruit of the connected Life (A study of the Fruit of the Spirit) Condition for the Double Portion A story was told in the old testament book of 2Kings. In 2 Kings 2, the bible tells us of the impending departure of Elijah the prophet. Condition for the Double Portion As the time drew near Elijah told Elisha to wait in several places but Elisha refused insisting on following Elijah to the very end. Condition for the Double Portion When the time for Elijah's translation came, Elijah said to Elisha, ask what you want before I am taken away from you. Elisha said he wanted the double portion of Elijah's Power. Condition for the Double Portion In response Elijah said to Elisha that he has asked for a hard thing however if Elisha saw him when he is taken to heaven, he will have his desired request. The bible records that Elisha saw Elijah when he was taken to heaven and he got the double portion of Elijah's power. Condition for the Double Portion This morning my focus is not primarily on the double portion of power that Elisha received my interest is on Elijah's Lamentation when Elisha made the request. In 2 Kings 2: 9-10 the bible tells us ... II Kings 2: 9-10 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. II Kings 2: 9-10 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. Condition for the Double Portion Please notice in verse 10 Elijah said ...Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. Condition for the Double Portion There are two question that come to mind... 1. Why was Elisha's request a hard Request? 2 Why is the double portion conditioned on Elisha seeing Elijah's departure? Condition for the Double Portion Elisha request is a hard request because He is asking Elijah to do the impossible He is asking Elijah to grant what God only can grant He is asking Elijah to give what only God can give He is asking Elijah to do what only God can do Condition for the Double Portion God is the giver of power not man. Spiritual power is function of God releasing his power on whosoever he choses. Condition for the Double Portion However if the person seeking God’s power is able to stay focused on God, then there is the assurance of scripture that what he seeks he will find. Condition for the Double Portion The second thing to note is that Elijah predicated the receiving of the power on Elisha's ability to see him when he is being translated. The question is Why? Condition for the Double Portion Elijah knew that it is difficult for people to stay focus Elijah knew it is difficult for people to abide in the presence of another Condition for the Double Portion Elijah knew that it difficult to stay focused, (to abide) in the mist of distractions. That is why he said you will get it if you see me go. Condition for the Double Portion It is one thing to want something, It another thing to do what you must do to get what you want. It is one thing to want the double portion, it is another thing to stay focused on the source of the double portion. Condition for the Double Portion Elijah knew that , that is why he said you will get it if you see me go. Condition for the Double Portion There is a central truth in the exchange between Elijah and Elisha. That central truth is this The fact that something is hard does not make it impossible Condition for the Double Portion The fact that something is difficult does not mean it is out our your reach The fact that others don’t have it does not mean that you cannot have it. Condition for the Double Portion Elijah said your request is difficult but if you see me go, then you will have it. Same principle is in the gospel Jesus thought the same principle of abiding in the presence of the Lord In John 15 John 15: reading from verse 1 tells us John 15: 1-8 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. John 15: 1-8 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15: 1-8 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15: 1-8 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. Essential Progression Productivity in life is difficult. It is a hard thing to be effective and productive But the bible is saying though a productive life is challenging and difficult it is possible for those who abide in Christ. Essential Progression Though the whole world may not be able to bear fruits that glorify God, Yet if we abide in Christ it will be possible for us. Essential Progression There fore for John 15 that we just read you will notice three very important things 1. Your survival is a function of your productivity 2 Essential Progression Your Survival is a function of your Productivity 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Luke 15:2 Essential Progression Your survival as a Christian is a function of productivity. In other words if your Christian life is not producing any fruit you are as good as dead. Revelation 3 reading from verse 14 tells us... Essential Progression 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; Essential Progression 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. Essential Progression 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Essential Progression God is not obligated to you if you are not productive. If all you do is take up space and you are not productive or adding value you will be chopped. Essential Progression If you think this is harsh look at Matthew 25 reading from verse 25 Matthew 25:25-30 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. (in other word this guy was not productive) 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Matthew 25:25-30 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matthew 25:25-30 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Essential Progression Your survival as a Christian is a function of productivity. In other words if your Christian life is not producing any fruit you are as good as dead. Essential Progression The second thing we notice in John 15 is that Essential Progression Your Productivity is a function of your Connectivity 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Essential Progression Since your survival as a Christian is a function of productivity. How then do you become productive? You become productive by staying connected to the source of life Essential Progression John 15 : 4 says 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Essential Progression Unless you stay connected to God you attempt at being productive will be a waste of time. Why is that ? the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Essential Progression Our Lord is saying you must stay connected to the source of life if you want to have life. It is when you have life that you will be productive because the branch cannot bear fruit of itself. Essential Progression The third thing we notice in John 15 is that Essential Progression Your Connectivity is a function of your ability to Abide. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. Essential Progression Your productivity and connectivity is not a one time thing. It is not something you do for a while and let it go. It must be continuous. It must be ongoing. Essential Progression The moment you detach your self from the source, you stop being productive. There are many factors and forces that want you to be disconnected. That is why you must do everything possible to abide in christ Essential Progression 2 Peter 1: 10 says . Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: Essential Progression To remain connected the branch must make up its mind to stay connected. Because there are several forces that want to pull the branch away from the source of life. Just like Elijah told Elisha, the only way you can have the double portion of power is for you to see me. In other word you must abide with me for you to receive the power you seek. Jesus is saying to the only way you can productive ( the only way you can bear fruit) is for you to be connected and abide. (Remain connected). The question then is What does it mean to Abide What does it mean to abide? To abide means to remain To stay connected It means not to give up It means keep trusting God What does it mean to abide? It means keep on believing It mean keep on holding on It means staying focused on Christ What does it mean to abide? When Jesus said abide he provides the condition for abiding... What does it mean to abide? In John 15: 7 the bible says 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Requirements to abide? The result of the access that your abiding gives you is that .... Asking start to get answers Seeking stat to get finding Knocking starts to set opening. What does it mean to abide? This is only possible because You Stayed in his presence You allowed his words to permeate your life You allowed your life to be influenced by his word. The difficulty of Abiding But Abiding is difficult, expecially when The word of God has no place in you The word of God has no influence The word of God has no value in your life The difficulty of Abidin Abiding is difficult but its benefits are rewarding. One of the the real benefit of abiding is found in verses 4 and 5 of John 15 John 15: 4-5 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15: 4-5 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. The benefit of Abiding From these verse of scriptures we can see that one of the real benefits of abiding in Christ is Productivity (fruit bearing). Every life bears fruit. Good fruits, bad fruits, ugly fruits, sour fruit Every life bear fruit Matthew 7: 20 tells us ...Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. What kind of Fruit does your life produce? This will be our focus for the rest of the month as we look at The fruit of the Connected Life Let us Pray Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.
