In this episode I am joined by bodyworker and healer Laura Shakeshaft. Laura is a multi-faceted practitioner who utilises her wide range of modalities to help bring balance, harmony, rhythm, and safety to horses and humans. Based in South Wales Laura has been treating my herd of horses since their move in October 2024. I have been very impressed with Laura's expanse of knowledge and experience which is why I asked her to join us on the podcast. In this episode Laura and I discuss her less well known modality - Amnanda.Amnanda is an Ayurvedic treatment combining the use of specific oil combinations, very light hands on touch, mantra, and intention. Treatments span over a period of 12 months with monthly sessions enabling the body to settle into the framework over a consistent period of time. Amnanda stems from an ancient Tibetan lineage and is a highly effective and encouraging approach to sustainable healing.Laura and I also touch on the power of cultivating safety, horses' innate healing intelligence within the body, and what is means to get out our own way when it comes to being a practitioner. As of today, Laura is the only practitioner working with animals in Europe. She is running courses in South Wales and other areas of the UK throughout the year.Thank you for listening! I'm thrilled to have my colleague and co-coach in both our Unbounded and Emerge Masterminds, Laura Kline-Taylor, join me again today on The Prosperous Empath® to talk about the idea of selling vs. enrollment. If you've listened to the podcast before, you know that I'm a big fan of enrollment where, as a coach, I am committed to helping my clients cultivate self-belief to become who they want and fully trust themselves in the process (and this includes in trusting themselves to choose the best fit coaches and consultants for them vs. being sold on who and why they need to hire someone). This is often the opposite of some coaches and most consultants who are selling you on your own pain points – it's more transactional than an ongoing co-creation. Laura and I share experiences where we've been sold a service and compare those to times that we've been enrolled in a service. If you're a heart-centered coach who is an empath or HSP, this episode will give you a new way to share the transformation that you can provide and call in aligned clients without any of the ick. Remember, cultivating self-belief is an ongoing process, but it is 100% possible to not only charge competitive rates, but be confident in sharing your services and prices, too.    Topics: How Laura and Catherine define sales (transactional exchange) vs. enrollment (an ongoing co-creation)  The art form of enrollment and how skilled coaches are consistently enrolling their clients in their own self-belief and self-leadership Defining a “coach-sultant” and how they're often enrolled more in the problem than the future and how this blocks expansion Enrolling in your own possibility to create an aligned business strategy and achieving sustainable success  How being enrolled in yourself will help you create what you want in an organic way and therefore create more of a transformation for their clients The different ways that you can actually grow your own self-belief to feel more in touch with your offerings  Laura and Catherine's favorite practices when it comes to enrolling others in their work    Episode Resources: Past episode with Laura: The Possibilities of Cycle Tracking for Your Business and Life  Past episode with Laura: The Impact of Your Relationships on Business Success  Join us on March 11th at 12pm ET for our monthly Non-Networking Power Hour for Empath Entrepreneurs with our UNBOUNDED Mastermind Community for deep connections and meaningful support.   Connect with Laura: Website  Instagram: @outloudlaura LinkedIn   Connect with Catherine: Website LinkedIn Instagram YouTube Sign up to receive my weekly digest on empathic entrepreneurship and hear from voices committed to spreading this message, sent straight to your inbox every Friday since 2016, here.    Work with Catherine: Interested in working 1:1 with Catherine or a certified coach on her team, or joining one of her premium mastermind programs? Believe it or not, one of the key components to feeling satisfied and happy in life is to ALWAYS be growing.    It's built into our chemical makeup for survival. We get dopamine hits off of overcoming challenges and recognizing we are better than we were yesterday.   It's part of why so many people leave the workforce to go into business for themselves. That along with bosses who're stuck in their ways and don't innovate and the lack of freedom and flexibility.   There is no shortage of opportunity for growth because there are endless obstacles.   It's not easy. And it's messy as F!   Sometimes that growth edge feels like too much and the obstacles feel insurmountable. And it leaves you wondering if you're good enough to actually do this.   I want you to know that you are … good enough. That you can get through this, and you don't have to do it alone.    This is part of why I share stories of entrepreneurs who are making it work on my podcast. Ones who keep leaning in, growing, and overcoming.    This week I talk with Laura Eigel, Organizaional Psychologist. Even though she had a Ph.D., she found herself thinking she wasn't good enough at many points in her career. But she kept stepping through the fear. And when she realized she wasn't growing anymore she took the entrepreneurial leap to help others.  Connect to Genea: The 3 Secrets to Maximize Profit and Impact (that the business gurus won't tell you) : http://ideservethisgift.com/ Website: http://geneabarnes.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/genea-barnes/ Facebook business: https://www.facebook.com/geneabarneselevate/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geneabarnes/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@geneabarnes YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/geneabarnes Connect to Laura: Website: https://thecatchgroup.com/  Should I stay or should I go quiz: https://thecatchgroup.com/quiz/  Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauraeigel/  Intstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecatchgroup/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdn66dR1JvCzV8mifW_ZNjQ Free gift: https://thecatchgroup.ck.page/values-worksheet  Email: hello@thecatchgroup.com    Laura's bio: Laura Eigel, Ph.D., is the founder of The Catch Group, a leadership coaching firm accelerating women into the C-suite, and the host of the You Belong in the C-Suite podcast. Today's episode was recorded when my friend, Laura Lindahl was 8 months pregnant with her son. Her son, Boaz was born in July and is now 3 1/2 old! This episode was so helpful to me when I was recording it and again while I was editing it to remind me of how God truly loves His creation, by the way that is all of us. She talks about her journey with being dissatisfied with her body after someone had a negative comment about it to her. She talked about how she began to train other people after she graduated with her degree in Exercise Physiology and started hearing her clients putting conditions on their bodies, just as she was doing to herself. That is when she realized something needed to change. She learned how to find satisfaction in God alone and started to view working out and taking care of her body from a place of contentment instead of not looking for contentment. She now runs an online group called True Strength Collective to help women discover this as well. I pray this will help you today as you walk your own journey! Bio: Laura is a Nationally Certified Exercise Physiologist, Eat to Perform Nutrition Coach, wife, dog mom, Enneagram Three, and avid lover of Jesus. After graduating with a degree in Exercise Science and spending years in the fitness industry, she started to realize all the negative effects that fitness can have on a woman's view of her body and her faith. She saw bodies shamed, relationships hurt, and faith neglected all in the name of being fit. That's when Laura founded the True Strength Collective. The True Strength Method guides women on a journey to identify what limiting beliefs they have about their body and faith so they can finally find freedom from body pressures, knowledge to confidently build strength, and unshakable faith. Laura's clients train smarter not harder, find peace in their true identity, and best of all can see their body in the mirror with confidence. Enjoy this special presentation from the first ever Whinypaluza Ultimate Marriage & Parenting Summit! Laura Froyen received her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy from Michigan State University in 2014. While pursuing her doctorate she worked as a Couple and Family Therapist in the state of Michigan helping families navigate difficult times. Her research focused on how marital and family relationships influence parenting and child development. She continued this research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Assistant Professor of HDFS and UW-Extension as an Early Childhood and Parenting Specialist. She helps individuals, partners, and co-parents become the parents they are longing to be. She helps overwhelmed and disconnected parents reconnect with themselves, each other, and their children. She helps parents bring ease, calm and JOY back into their hectic and chaotic lives. She helps parents stop yelling and start feeling confident in themselves. She does this through her unique approach to parenting that is grounded in research and driven by the overarching goal of restoring balance and compassion to families.   Listen to this insightful Whinypaluza episode with Laura Froyen about how everyday life gives us moments to shine light on our wounds that still need healing, creating opportunities for repair and growth. Here is what to expect on this week's show: There is no such thing as perfection, only “good enough.” There is a cycle of mistake/repair that creates growth. Acknowledge your triggers, and use them for growth, until they are no longer triggers. What are the different kinds of triggers? Repeating behavioral patterns is a way of your brain creating structure, efficiency, and making sense of things. Rules that you had as a child can become triggers for you as a parent if your children do things that would have been breaking those rules. It creates a sense of something being wrong. Addressing your triggers and healing yourself is about understanding we are all deserving of love and compassion. Awareness is the first step. Building in self-regulation is the second step. Learning mindfulness and breathwork is vastly beneficial in healing.   Connect with Laura: Website https://www.laurafroyen.com/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/laurafroyen/ Follow Rebecca Greene Blog  https://www.whinypaluza.com/ Book 1  https://bit.ly/WhinypaluzaBook Book 2 https://bit.ly/whinybook2 Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/whinypaluzaparenting Instagram https://www.instagram.com/becgreene5/ @becgreene5 TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@whinypaluzamom?lang=en @whinypaluzamom Learn more about your ad choices. Laura Putnam: How to Get More Movement In At Work

The Darin Olien Show

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 2, 2023 62:33

Do you usually eat your lunch at your desk?   In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Laura Putnam about how our society is built around sitting down. Our cities are made for driving, our offices are made for sitting, and our homes are made for lounging. But all of this sitting-down time is detrimental to our health, thus the importance of incorporating movement in the areas of your life where you spend most of your time: at work.    Laura also shares a few movements you can easily incorporate in your day-to-day to get started and discusses which movement patterns are best for you.   Laura is a speaker, author, and activator. She founded Motion Infusion in 2008, inspired by her discoveries around the need for motion. Movement is one of the best things we can do for our bodies and our brains. The problem is, we all live in a world that conspires against us getting active - or being well. She believes it's time we take action.     What we discuss:   07:21: What made Laura start her career in movement? 11:20: What was Laura's experience with teaching her method to children? 16:40: If we're born to move, why are we discouraged to do so by society? 22:42: How can you incorporate more movement in your life? 28:26: What movements can you implement right away? 33:06: Is exercise really necessary to be healthy? 44:06: Are we being productive if we aren't moving? 52:05: What kinds of movement patterns are best?   Key Takeaways:   The biggest misconception when it comes to getting active is what it means to get active. The reality is that you don't need exercise; what you need is movement. So if you don't want to spend one hour at the gym every day, you don't need to. But you need to find opportunities in your day-to-day to get movement in, such as taking your meetings standing up or parking your car further away from the metro station.    As adults, we spend most of our time at work, sitting down at our office. Given this takes up the bulk of our days, your workplace should be the first place you look to leverage as an opportunity to incorporate more movement into your day. Whether it's taking your phone calls standing up, walking to get lunch, or keeping your trash can far away from your cubicle, any of these types of hacks can help you get more movement in easily. It's just a question of setting it up for yourself, once.    With the way we live our day-to-day, an alien watching us humans go through life would believe we are born to sit. But that couldn't be further from the truth - we aren't meant to be sitting in our cars, office chairs, and sofas for the majority of our days. We are meant to get up and move.   Find more from Darin:   Website: https://darinolien.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Darinolien/ Book: https://darinolien.com/fatal-conveniences-book/ Down to Earth: https://darinolien.com/down-to-earth/     Find more from Laura:   Website: https://www.lauraputnam.com/ and https://www.motioninfusion.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lauraputnamauthor/     More links:   Manna Vitality: https://www.mannavitality.com/ Therasage: https://therasage.com/ Bite: https://bitetoothpastebits.com/

And that means getting really good at delivering something extraordinary, being really good at selling it. And so I'm willing to charge less now because I know what I want 10, 20, 30 years down the road.” — “I don't want people that kind of want to try stuff in my program. I want people that want to come in, they want to do the work, they want to get the result and they want to get out, and then just live the rest of their life.” — “I'm able to produce probably five times as much as I was able to when I was working more hours because I'm so clear on who I help.”Connect with Laura:Website: https://lauradixoncoaching.com/

There is an overall lack of information and education about pelvic health in the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum world. A new mother's ability to care for her newborn has everything to do with her mental, physical, and emotional health, but modern medicine and our society have lost touch with this message. Our systems are designed to nurture the infant, neglecting to empower mothers with dignity, truth, and preparedness. Let's change that! Join us to learn more! Dr. Laura Williams is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Board-certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist. She practices and lives in Colorado with her husband, three-year-old daughter, and a second child on the way. Although not a substitute for in-person healthcare, postpartum healing consultation should be viewed as a vital way to bridge the gap in maternal care.
