Laura, the host, has a unique way of thinking that offers fresh perspectives on familiar lifelong problems. It feels like a gift to be given a different approach to solve these issues. One particular episode resonated with me when Laura talked about how the process of change can be uncomfortable, but that we are already uncomfortable in our current state. This realization was like a meteorite crashing into my world and forever changing my brain's ecosystem. Since listening to this podcast and implementing Laura's actionable advice, I have noticed my self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors slowly fading away. While the process is not overnight, listening to a few episodes every day has been incredibly helpful in my journey towards personal growth.

We're tackling a BIG myth that's been holding you back: the whole "80/20" thing when it comes to eating. You know, eat healthy 80% of the time, and go wild the other 20%. Sounds dreamy, right? Here's the kicker---it doesn't work. Not for lasting weight loss, anyway. We've all been there, telling ourselves we're "mostly" healthy, but let's face it---80/20 often turns into 60/40 (if we're being honest). And that's not enough to move the needle, especially if you're in your 30s, 40s, or 50s. Why? Because it doesn't give you the momentum you need to see results. Losing weight isn't just about balance; it's about creating habits that work with your body instead of against it.In this episode, I'm spilling the tea on why 80/20 doesn't deliver the goods and how shifting to something more realistic, like 95/5 or even 98/2, can totally transform your journey. Here's the secret: it's not deprivation---it's about resetting your taste buds and hormones so your body actually craves the good stuff (yes, seriously). We'll chat about why blood sugar spikes and "hanger" are your worst enemies and how those Saturday night pizza binges might be sabotaging your progress. Plus, I'll give you a sneak peek at my Yummy Mummy Method---a no-calorie-counting, no-BS approach to losing weight for the LAST time. Because you deserve to feel energized, confident, and oh-so-happy in your own skin.Let's ditch the 80/20 trap and create a plan that actually works, babe. Hit play and hear:How the 80/20 rule sabotages weight lossWhy being honest about your habits is the first step to successHow a balanced approach like 95/5 creates lasting changeSpecifically how to make "healthy" feel satisfying and naturalThe two things to manage to help you create an easy, sustainable lifestyleIf you're curious how to actually ditch 80/20 and try it yourself with a plan of action, Yummy Mummy has got you, girl. Get ready, because we're diving into something that might surprise you: how being “nice” and people-pleasing could be slowing down your weight loss journey. Yup, I said it! Being too nice can add literal weight to your body. In this episode, I'll walk you through how to fix that!We talk about those sneaky situations where you say “yes” to the second glass of wine or the bread basket because you don't want to rock the boat. Or when you feel guilty saying “no” to dessert because, OMG, what will people think? Girl, I've been there—and I know how exhausting it is. The truth is, every time we people-please with food, we abandon ourselves and our goals. Learning to say “no, thank you” is like a superpower. It doesn't make you a bad person – in fact, it's the ultimate act of self-care. You don't need to explain yourself, and honestly, most people won't even care! We also dig into another way being “nice” shows up: overscheduling yourself. If your calendar is all about making other people happy and you're nowhere to be found on it, it's time for a cancellation tour! You've got to put YOU first to show up as the best version of yourself. Get ready to practice saying no, reclaim your time, and fill your cup in ways that actually serve you. It's time to break free, babe—you've got this! Listen in and hear more about:Why people-pleasing with food adds more than just guilt—it adds pounds, tooHow saying “no, thank you” can strengthen your self-trust and honor your goalsWhy being too “nice” on your calendar is a recipe for stress and pantry raidsHow a cancellation tour can open up space for rest, joy, and true self-careWhy guilt isn't always yours to carry—and how to hand it back to cultureBusy moms need something different when it comes to weight loss. If you've ever spent hours tracking every bite in a fancy app, only to feel frustrated when the weight keeps coming back, I feel you---and I've got good news.Counting calories feels like it should work (and hey, it might for a hot second), but it's actually sabotaging your long-term success. In this episode, we're talking all about the pitfalls of trying to hate ourselves into a “better” body. Spoiler: it doesn't work! My lovely guest, Melissa Parsons, a fabulous life coach and former pediatrician, joins us to share why self-love—not self-punishment—is the real key to happiness and lasting transformation. Melissa opens up about her journey, sharing how years of self-criticism never led to real joy or confidence. Instead, she learned that the secret sauce to becoming your “favorite you” isn't forcing yourself to fit a certain mold. She says that focusing on small acts of kindness for yourself (like giving yourself five guilt-free minutes to unwind) is the foundation for true change. We dive into why it's so important to stop “burning ourselves to keep others warm.” For so many of us, it's all about pleasing others, even if it means ignoring our own needs. But Melissa reminds us that putting yourself on the list—yes, YOU!—isn't selfish; it's actually the most caring thing you can do. When we're filled up, we show up as better friends, partners, and moms.Tune in to today's episode to learn all about: How the “fill your own cup first” mindset makes you better at showing up for othersWhy putting others first isn't always as caring as it seems—and what to do insteadHow shifting from self-criticism to self-kindness could help you reach your goals, without the burnoutWhy carving out five peaceful minutes for yourself each day is more impactful than you might thinkAnd by the way, mama: if you want to stop the hate AND lose weight, it's a thousand percent possible for you. Hey babes! We're diving into a topic that I think is such a game-changer when it comes to weight loss. So, let me take you back 10 years---imagine me, totally nailing my diet Monday through Thursday, only to lose control every weekend. I'd drop two pounds by Thursday, then gain it right back by Monday. Sound familiar? It wasn't until I looked at my pattern (and trust me, I had 15 years of it!) that I realized something critical: the typical "80-20" rule just didn't cut it for me. And doing 98-2? Ugh, it felt like zero fun, which is basically against my life philosophy! I needed a new way to fill my "pleasure cup" that didn't involve food. That led me on a journey to find true pleasures -- things that light me up during and after, like taking walks with friends, going to yoga, or having a dance party with my team. One of the best parts of this discovery? I learned how to build a life filled with "delicious dopamine" that doesn't rely on cupcakes or cocktails. This type of true pleasure is sustainable and way more satisfying than temporary food highs. But how do we start filling our days with things that bring us joy so we can finally lose weight for the last time? Listen in and learn more about:How to break the cycle of dieting and overeatingWhy "80-20" doesn't work for everyone and what to do insteadWhat will finally stop those late-night pantry raids And by the way, mama: if you're ready to learn how to consistently build more joy into your life and stop compensating with food, let's have a chat. We'll get into their tips about how they curb boredom without derailing their goals – and you can, too.And hey… sometimes boredom eating is just procrastination in a really good costume. Hey, lovely! This episode, we're diving headfirst into the big, juicy topic that everyone seems to be whispering about lately: Ozempic, GLP-1s, and weight loss meds. You've probably heard about Ozempic everywhere — at happy hours, in friend circles, maybe even in your own conversations. If you've been curious about whether these meds are a miracle fix or just another trend, spoiler: It's not a "yes" or "no" answer! And if you're anything like me, you want a clear perspective and space to form your own thoughts about it, right? So let's talk about it. Like any tool, it has its pros and cons. You might have heard it being called a “magic pill,” but the truth is, these meds can be helpful for some and tricky for others. They're not a root solution, and pairing them with lifestyle work like what I teach in the Yummy Mummy Experience is key.My hope is that by the end of this episode, you'll have a fresh perspective on whether this path resonates with you or not. Finding true confidence and self-love comes with a reminder: there's no “right” path, just the one that brings you closer to living as your best self. You deserve to weigh what feels right for you — with or without meds.Tune in to hear more about:My stance on Ozempic and weight loss medsWhy healing emotionally is crucial to lasting weight lossTools that can help you create deep healing and build emotional resilienceThe importance of dropping guilt, judgment, or shame whether you use weight loss medications or notStories of clients who tried Ozempic but ultimately chose lifestyle change as their main strategyAnd mama, here's one last thing: if you're ready to explore the mindset work that goes into creating weight loss that lasts, let's have a chat. You're a working mom who wants to lose weight, but you keep running into the same wall: who freaking has time to learn how to lose weight for the last time??That was exactly Emma's question when she was on maternity leave. Emma is an amazing, beloved Yummy Mummy client I invited onto the pod to speak about her experience. Before she joined, she knew she wanted to drop her post-pregnancy weight, but life was already bonkers with a newborn (she has 3 kids, after all!). Then add weight loss goals on top of it? It seemed like way too much to commit to.Emma had made so many attempts at weight loss over the years, she could tell you exactly how many calories are in a banana, but no approach seemed to work. They definitely didn't last. She was doubtful anything ever would. She didn't know what else was left that she hadn't already tried. You can see where I'm going with this ;) Emma joined the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX) and found everything she'd been missing from the other weight loss strategies she'd been trying for years. Listen into our conversation and hear Emma share about:Why she decided to commit to YMX The doubts and fears she felt when she decided to lose weight for the last timeHow YMX provided the missing key that unlocked her weight lossWhat choice and freedom mean when it comes to a new food mindsetThe impact of the support and guidance of a true communityAnd mama, if Emma's message speaks to you, you're here at just the right time. Doors are currently OPEN for the next cohort of YMX! One of my favorite clients ever is here to share a bit about her story inside the Yummy Mummy Experience!Liron joins me on the pod today from her home in Kansas City where she lives with her husband and two kids and I know you're going to relate to her prior struggle with weighing what she wanted.“In the grand scheme of things, I just wanted to lose 10-15 pounds, but it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. When I did things like Noom, I would do it in six to eight weeks and then go on vacation, or something would happen (good or bad) and I didn't have the tools to not give up. So then it became a vicious cycle for two years.”Liron had been listening to THIS podcast for eight months when she finally decided to join the Yummy Mummy cohort this past January. “It's a village of people who are like-minded, who are all successful in their own right, who need cheerleaders behind them to get this done. It's a way to do something that's hard but do it with others who really uplift you and support you.”Hop in on our conversation and hear straight from Liron about:Why Yummy Mummy is different for your weight loss than going it aloneHow she learned not to give up on herself anymoreThe safety and sisterhood Liron found in the Yum Mum communityWhat pleasantly surprised her about joining Yum Mum and how it compares to ‘diets'Weighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. The School of Skinny (my 5-day weight loss challenge) is IN SESSION September 9th-13th but just like any other school, you have to enroll! You can do that at lauraconley.com/school and walk away with a black and white weight loss plan you know you'll follow. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The frustration of gaining and losing the same four pounds is a special kind of hell. You just want to weigh what you want and feel good in your skin, but you can't seem to land in that place. It's always just out of reach. You start to wonder why it seems like your body is failing you. It's the worst. I know, I've been there.First thing I want you to understand is that this isn't your fault. We've only been taught to gain and lose the same damn four pounds, so of course that's the only result we see. That's what diet culture has to offer us.The Yummy Mummy method is different. In my program, you get a plan. And before you cringe, no, a plan is not just another word for ‘diet'. Plans are the complete opposite. They're spacious, easeful, and doable, and it's how Yum Mums are able to stick to them until they get the results they want. Why? Because we back each Yum Mum's plan up with psychology and science. Even if you're not a planner, never been a planner, hate what the word conjures in your mind, I GOT YOU, boo. You let me figure out the plan and you just experience the benefits. Tune into this episode and you'll learn:The two reasons why you gain and lose the same four poundsWhy a custom Yum Mum plan works and diet culture doesn'tHow to make a weight loss plan you're not a slave toHow to break the over-restricting > overeating cycleEaseful ways to use mindset hacks for success instead of white-knuckling itWeighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. Time for part 2 of how to be a skinny mom! Keep in mind that we're using ‘skinny' as an adjective that describes a mom who feels hot, confident in her skin, and like the best version of herself. You can choose whatever term you want! That's the beauty of it. If you're wondering “Okay Laura, but how the heck do I get from feeling frickin' terrible to amazing?” then go listen to part 1 of this two-parter. I lay out the whole foundation. One of the reasons we don't weigh what we want is because we have too many demands on our time and energy, so we feel stressed. Part 1 talks about how to avoid getting to that place of overwhelm. Part 2 is going to pick up with what to do when stress does inevitably happen (hel-lo stress-eating) and what to do in the moments after you realize you soothed yourself with food. This episode is going to dive into strategies from a compassionate place and I think you're really going to resonate with it!Listen in and hear more about: Multiple stress management strategies so you can choose one that works for youHow to make a counter argument with your brain when it urges you to overeatWays to look at food and weight with a big picture, long-term lensThe importance of persistence and learning from your mistakes Weighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. If you ever wondered what to do to start feeling better about yourself and your body image as a mom, today is your lucky day. I'm going to take you through each and every how of being a mom who feels good in her skin. We're talking about how to be a hot mom, how to be a skinny mom, a sexy mom, a mom who feels confident in their clothes, light, and alive. And what that REALLY boils down to is how to stop being stressed.Because it's stressful being a mom and/or woman in this world. And stress-eating is a huge way we soothe ourselves. Even if you're someone who's thinking, “No, not me. I don't overeat when I'm stressed,” trust me, you probably do. Stress-eating is freakin' sneaky. You have a really stressful day, you come home and snap at your husband, and then you dive into the chocolate-covered, peanut butter-stuffed pretzels without connecting the two. That's what I used to do. It's what SO many of my clients used to do. To make the connection, you need the right tools, and that's what I want to talk about today. Using the right tools, you can uncover WHY you're stress-eating in the first place, and then make changes so you can weigh what you want. Finally. In this episode, you'll learn:How to get in front of the stress you feelHelpful stress management tools (because human life is stressful regardless)What to do with difficult feelings instead of eatSuper-simple, effective mindset tweaksWeighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. Today's episode is me sharing my personal story of losing weight for the last time. I think it's really important to be open and transparent about that process, especially because I (like MANY of us and many of my clients) thought I was a special unicorn. Meaning, I thought I was so uniquely screwed up that I couldn't lose weight. Other people could, but not me. Now, obviously, babes… that's not how the story ended. So I want to tell you more about that journey so you can see that I wasn't a specially flawed unicorn, and neither are you!Because in all honesty, I had accepted defeat. I thought, “This is just going to be the thing that I struggle with forever.”I never believed that I could just weigh what I wanted and have a healthy relationship with food and my body. As far as struggles went, I thought it really wasn't that bad. Until it was. It became unacceptable, and I knew I had to do something that would change my relationship with myself for the better. So, today I'm sharing the exact lightbulb moment that changed everything, and how it came to be that I was able to show up as the person I wanted to be and create a new way of relating to my body. Because I wasn't a special unicorn, that means this isn't JUST limited to me! I have full confidence (and evidence in past client experiences) that this can work for you, too.And listen, mama: my calendar is open for free 30-minute coffee chats!
