F*ck Yeah is hosted by seasoned sex educators, fed up feminists, and queer moms, Sarah Tomchesson and Robin Jennings. We are on a mission to disrupt traditional ideas about sexuality, patriarchal gender roles, intimate relationships, parenthood, and queer identity. Each week we explore topics with irreverence, nuance, compassion and curiosity. With the help of experts (and all-around interesting people), we unpack how to parent in a sex-positive way, what somatic self-care looks like, the ABCs of Kink, and how erotic embodiment is essentially queer. Join us every Thursday in our search for radical (self) acceptance as we explore taboos and the beautifully messy parts of this human experience.

Author Chris Zeischegg joins us to talk about his newest book, Creation: On Art and Becoming. Chris' work is semi-autobiographical and heavily influenced by his years working in the sex industry. Longtime collaborator, Luka Fisher, serves as a muse and a thread that weaves Chris' newest collection of short stories and essays together. We discuss the book, Luka's role in both the book and Chris' life, the impact of toxic masculinity on everyone in the sex trade regardless of gender, and the shadow side of porn - all of which appear in Chris' transgressive and visceral writings. Content warning: we discuss the impact of sex work including self harm and suicidal ideation. We cover the moral panic surrounding human trafficking, Chanelle shares the abolitionist perspective on sex work, and we dive into her new book Not Your Rescue Project: Migrant Sex Workers Fighting for Justice, which she co-authored with Elene Lam. What better week to talk about food and the significance of shared communal meals to queer community than the last week of November. We're taking a pause this week and sharing this food episode from earlier this year! No, "Queer Cuisine" is not a euphemism. Chef Kat Mciver joins us and we contemplate the idea that food may mean something special to us as queer people and try to name what makes something "Queer Cuisine." She also helps us unpack our personal (and incredibly different) journeys with food, shares about being a queer woman in toxic kitchen culture, and enlightens us on her cooking philosophy of "waste not, want not" aka using every part of a plant or animal in your cooking (think carrot tops, radish greens and pea tendrils). It's been a wild and heartbreaking couple of weeks for those of us in the fight for queer and trans rights, choice over our reproductive decisions, regulation of corporate greed, dismantling white supremacism, and peace across the world. Sarah and Robin process their grief and rage over the election and plot a way forward with queer community, creative expression, and grounding in pleasure at the center. Showing up for the resistance is going to be exhausting at times, so let's all get resourced and give ourselves permission to step back and recharge when needed. Do not obey in advance. Queer hair stylist and fierce femme Sparrow Fox joins us to talk queer hair, aging with grace, and the magic of being seen in the salon (and the streets). We get into the pressures of our culture to look beautiful on the outside while suppressing inner turmoil, how fashion can affirm your identity, and how a queer mindset allows for stylistic freedom. We also share about our early experiences in the salon, the messaging that shaped how we view ourselves and how we carry ourselves in the world now as midlife queers who are sometimes too busy to serve all the lewks. This week we're reclaiming celibacy, abstinence, and virginity with Daviel Shy! What if we approach abstinence as a container for introspection, longing and personal growth? When Daviel joined us on the pod two weeks ago we inquired about her Virgo season musings - the virgin experiment - which she has documented on her substack. When Sarah heard about Daviel's experimentation with celibacy, it reminded her of an intentional period of celibacy she took during Venus retrograde in Libra in 2018. We explore the significance of stepping back from your sexuality to integrate parts of yourself, why the sign of Virgo is particularly well-suited for the introspection that can accompany celibacy, and the intense longing that can arise in periods of celibacy (or abstinence). Even though Virgo season is coming to an end, there are many times of the year and stages of life that can benefit from periods of celibacy and it is something we can reclaim and reframe from the patriarchal model of abstinence until marriage or lifelong celibacy in servitude to god and repurpose for our own growth and wellbeing.Daviel's project The Lovers series premieres at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center September 21st. Tickets can be reserved at givebutter.com/SsGRphYou can also register for the Shameless Sex Couples Retreat that Sarah has been talking about and will be co-facilitating Nov 12-17.Please find us on IG, TikTok and support the show on Patreon.
Punk rock educatrix, Tina Horn joins us to talk all things kink - cash fetishes, financial domination, spanking, bimbofication, cannibalism, feet, domming, oh my! Tina applies her signature curiosity, flirtatious wit, hyper intelligence and dirty mind, which you may be familiar with from her hit podcast Why Are People Into That?, to her new book and to our conversation. Why are People Into That: A Cultural Investigation of Kink (Tina's new book) breaks down kink practices and the most niche fetishes through a cultural lens, revealing the ways that BDSM is baked into and simultaneously gawked at in our culture. The book also explores Tina's own hard-earned experience in the kink community, a shared lineage she and Robin revel over in this week's episode. Filmmaker Daviel Shy joins us to share about her upcoming project, The Lovers, which serves eroticism and queerness in equal parts. Daviel's creative mindset is akin to an arousal state. In creative flow, she takes in her experiences with heightened awareness and incorporates them into her work. Daviel also integrates the unique lived experiences of her collaborators into her work and allows space for the work to be changed by those both in front of and behind the camera. The Lovers web series is a semi-autobiographical work that integrates the ways Daviel and her collaborators sought connection through the pandemic and how the isolation, separation and strange interconnectedness of the pandemic changed them (and all of us). In revisiting the experience of the pandemic, audiences are able to process and integrate their lingering grief and trauma from living through similar experiences. The series premieres September 21st at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center. We close out Season 3 with longtime friend of the pod and iconic artist, Cassils. We talk about the trajectory of Cassils's art career starting with early childhood paintings on genitals, to putting their body through peril as a means of waking up viewers to the struggles of the queer and trans experience. In Cassils's view, history does not repeat itself, but it rhymes. Their work is not only a vehicle for social change, it is steeped in the tactics of queer artist/activists of the 70s and 80s. Cassils uses their body heavily in their work, sometimes putting themself in precarious situations to convey the urgency and immediacy of the issues they are tackling. Cassils most recent piece draws inspiration from die-ins and the AIDS quilt. They will create a large scale cyanotype for Trans Day of Visibility at the end of the month at the Lincoln Memorial on the Mall in Washington D.C. Our conversation touches on a number of Cassils' pieces including Human Measure, Becoming an Image, In Plain Sight and and the throughline they weave through each. Their upcoming action with the NCET will take place on March 31st in D.C. To learn more about Cassils (or to take part in their TDOV action) visit their site -www.cassils.net - or follow them on IG @cassilsartistCASSILS is a transgender artist who makes their own body the material and protagonist of their performances. Cassils's art contemplates the history(s) of LGBTQI+ violence, representation, struggle and survival. For Cassils, performance is a form of social sculpture: Drawing from the idea that bodies are formed in relation to forces of power and social expectations, Cassils work investigates historical contexts to examine the present moment. This is our last episode of Season 3. Today we're talking about building a network of loving support around non-binary and transgender youth with LGBTQ advocate and mother, Jamie Bruesehoff, author of Raising Kids Beyond the Binary: Celebrating God's Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children. Jamie shares her experience of raising her family in the Lutheran church in rural New Jersey and supporting her transgender daughter step into her full self. She describes the tension within Christianity - the repressive forces actively causing harm to gender expansive people and the loving kindness that her family has received from their congregation and Christians across the country. We talk about how being gender inclusive and breaking down gender stereotypes benefits all kids, how making space for LGBTQ+ youth to be their full selves creates space for us all to show up more fully, and how to advocate for your own gender diverse child. Jamie shares with Sarah and Robin about ring theory - a method for setting boundaries and protecting the safety and well-being of your child, regardless of what struggle they may be going through. Jamie demonstrates that you do not have to choose between your faith and your gender diverse child or loved one. Sarah closes the episode with a "Fucking Healing Shit" segment about the concept of "Unselfing" and ways to apply it when feeling helpless or hopeless.Jamie Bruesehoff is an award-winning LGBTQ+ advocate, nationally known speaker, and mother of three, including a transgender child. We're celebrating Pisces Season with our favorite, resident Pisces - Sarah! Enjoy this throwback to Season 1, Episode 2 when we were just baby podcasters. In this episode, we say “fuck, yeah!” to queer femmes! We learn how Sarah came into her queer identity and how intimately connected her queerness is to her femme identity. Anne Hodder-Shipp of sex ed internet fame joins us again to demystify the misunderstood "P" word - pleasure. Anne and Sarah co-facilitate a course, Pleasure Attitudes, that focuses on re-establishing a joyful connection to pleasure in all of its forms. Robin interviews them and the three break down the difference between pleasure and sexual pleasure (and why they've come to be conflated), the blocks that many of us face when trying to source pleasure in our lives, and what to do about it. Anne and Sarah share how they help Pleasure Attitudes participants establish embodied self support practices and why it's so important to create routines that are personalized to your needs rather than fit the mold of what is packaged and sold to us as "self care." This episode contains a fair amount of pleasure and self care myth-busting as well as our signature permission-giving around getting to know your authentic needs and desires. Sarah closes out the episode with a "This is going to make you fucking mad" segment about the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision granting "personhood" to embryos.Content warning: Sarah and Robin start the episode talking about the recent death of nonbinary teen, Nex Benedict. We are joined today by author and women's intimacy coach, Rena Martine, talking about the ways shame holds us back from the sex, relationships, and lives we want to live and what to do about it. As a former sex crimes Deputy District Attorney, Rena comes at her work as an intimacy coach from a unique perspective. We discuss the ways that sexual shame and stigma can mutate into acts of violence and how seeing the darkest side of human sexuality burnt Rena out of her legal career. Her "aha" moment came during the pandemic when she changed careers and now coaches women on creating The Sex You Want (the title of her newly released book). Rena shares an exercise for getting to know your desires, one for tapping into your inner wisdom and we learn about Rena's first experience with a sex worker! Robin closes the episode with a "Healing Shit" segment - tapping into your inner crone with a crone goals exercise. Beck Gee joins FYP to talk about trans joy and struggle. Beck breaks down the ways the DSM-5's (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) framework and “gender dysphoria” diagnosis creates a restrictive container for gender expansive folks, which compounds the lived experience of trying to fit into a binary world, and how the issues with gender diversity exist in our transphobic and cis-heteronormative culture not within the individuals experiencing a dissonance with the gender they were assigned at birth. Beck shares his personal journey of coming into his trans masculine identity and the joy he finds in his gay, cowboy, leather life. Beck shares ways to challenge yourself, examine your own gender and sexuality as a first step towards showing up as an ally. This episode explores the intersections of mental health, substance use, and gender and sexuality exploration. Robin and Sarah share about their kids' explorations and curiosity about their gender at the end of the episode.Beck is an accomplished master's level clinician, armed with a profound educational background in Sociology, emphasizing Gender & Sexuality at the undergraduate level, and a master's degree in Addiction Counseling. This week we're talking about food! No, "Queer Cuisine" is not a euphemism. Chef Kat Mciver of seasonal farm-to-table cafe Wide Eyes Open Palms in Long Beach joins us and we get to ask an expert about our personal (and very different) struggles with food. Kat shares about how the punk scene prepared her for toxic kitchen culture, enlightens us on her cooking philosophy of "waste not, want not" and how to use every part of a plant (think carrot tops, radish greens and pea tendrils). We contemplate the idea that food may mean something special to us as queer people and try to name what makes something "Queer Cuisine." Kat also shares an intuitive eating practice and her approach to shopping at a farmer's market. If you're interested in visiting Kat's cafe, WEOP was founded on the mission of being the ultimate brunch experience, combining the joys of a perfectly prepared coffee with the nourishment of a fresh, healthy farmers market-sourced meal, and a fresh-baked pastry. We aim to bring all of that into a positive environment focused on inclusivity and celebrating the LGBTQ, women, and POC communities, each and every day. Powerhouse Christine Soyong Harley, President of SIECUS - Sex Ed for Social Change, joins us this week to talk all things sex ed. Sex ed sits at the nexus of multiple social justice issues including public health equity, gender disparities, sexual diversity, racial justice, abortion access and more. Sex ed can benefit young people in a myriad of ways (spoiler alert it doesn't just reduce rates of teen pregnancy and stis!) and Chris schools us on the range of benefits and why, as a result, it challenges conservative power structures aiming to restrict personal liberties and the growing power of the global majority. While it can feel hard these days to be hopeful in the face of harmful, restrictive policies and a moral panic that leverages fear to attack the rights and bodies of women, people of color, queer and trans people; Chris' perspective and work, informed by SIECUS' impressive 60 year track record, is a glimpse of light in the darkness. Chris also shares about SIECUS' new initiative targeting adults, Sex Ed Futurism! Don't miss this enlightening, informative, and empowering conversation!. Sarah closes out the episode walking Robin through sex ed standards and what we mean we talk about sex ed in schools. If you're looking for some good talking points at your family or holiday gatherings - this episode is for you!If you are interested in supporting SIECUS' vision of an equitable nation where all people receive sex education, are affirmed in their identities, and have power to make decisions about their own health, pleasure, and wholeness, please consider making an end of year donation HERE and become a Sex Ed Futurist to keep up to date with educational resources and policy updates in your community.Give us a follow on IG & TT @fuckyeahpod or email us your "Fuck yeah's" to fyeahpod@gmail.com.
