Horse Hippie’s Morning Mantras

Morning Mantra: “The path of awakening is not about becoming who you are. Rather it's about unbecoming who you are not.”Finding yourself is not how it really works. You are not a $10 bill in last winter‘s coat pocket. You're also not lost.Your true self is right there, buried under cultural conditioning, other people's opinions, and the inaccurate conclusions you made as a kid. These became your belief system about who you are.Finding yourself is really more like returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got his hands on you. Start by removing anything or anyone that makes you do or be something that doesn't fit.  You'll know the feeling of trying to squeeze into someone else's expectations. You'll recognize what doesn't belong by the way it makes you feel.Even when you feel lost, please, keep discovering. Not for a person, but for your passion, your love, your light, your courage, your goals, your gifts, your dreams, yourself.  Unbecoming is a life long commitment to self discovery. Enjoy the journey.#BeASelfDiscoverer #BeHippie #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #inspirationalQuotes #MorningMotivation #Equestrian #HorseLover #QuotesToInspire #HorseHippieBrand #HorseHippieBoutiqueQuotes: Albert Schweitzer and Emily McDowell

In today's episode, we talk about unbecoming, healing, and feeling through somatics and nervous system regulation. Somatics truly is a fascinating modality; it's the language of the body, and the nervous system is the operating system of the body. When you utilize somatics effectively (which Darci dives into later - you'll love those!), your body goes back into homeostasis.Darci Burke is a dedicated nervous system regulation practitioner and somatic embodiment coach, and the founder of Holos Heal. She's always been drawn to helping people, and believes that our life experience is our greatest teacher. So often, you've been disconnected from your body, and more specifically, your nervous system. In order to experience true healing, you HAVE to involve the nervous system - this is what creates new patterns in your life. Darci and I also dive into what triggers are *actually* showing you, how destabilizing and scary big identity ‘shifts' can be (we've both experienced these), and why unbecoming is happening more and more in the second half of people's lives. In this episode, we cover:Somatics + its powerful connection to the nervous systemHow trauma shows up in the body + the importance of regulating your nervous system in a ‘slow and gentle' wayWhy trauma isn't just capital ‘T' trauma + understanding YOUR particular trauma and how to untangle itWhat triggers are *actually* showing you2 pieces that are crucial and vital for healingThe scary ‘identity crisis' that happens when you step away from an ‘outdated' version of yourself & evolve into something newWhat it means to feel safety within yourself + the concept of ‘unbecoming'Continuing to evolve, grow, and connect with your true natureBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Darci:Follow on InstagramCheck out her websiteConnect with Emily:Follow on Instagram and FacebookJoin my email listCheck out my websiteConnect with me on LinkedInResources & Links:The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der KolkGather in Growth Sponsorship InquiryBook me as a speaker for your next eventGather in Growth podcast produced by: Jill Carr PodcastingMentioned in this episode:Speaker Inquiry: Shoot me an email at emilyreuschel@gmail.com or click below to book a call to get started! Hello and welcome to a special bonus episode of YXE Underground.A few nights ago, my wife and I were able to attend a really wonderful event hosted by artist group called The 525.It was the closing reception to a group photography and video exhibition called Unbecoming…held in an empty business space on Third Avenue. The exhibition was co-curated by Saskatoon's Rowen Dinsmore and Molly Schikosky. Now, if Molly's name sounds familiar, it's because she has worked with me on many episodes of the podcast taking photos, as well as creating the YXE Underground video that was released a few months ago. Molly is amazing and we really wanted to support her…And I must say the evening was so much fun! The exhibition featured 10 female identifying artists from Saskatoon: Leo Lauren ConquergoodHannah AlexXiao HanBerit JohnsonEmily JohnsonMona KhanMolly SchikoskyDarby SutherlandTammy ZdunichEmma ZuckEach artist had their own space within the exhibition showcasing their photography and videography talents. All 10 artists also shared with a packed crowd the motivation behind their works, and you'll hear from some of the artists in this episode. You will also meet a gentleman named Kehun Fu, who is The 525's Principal Director. This was my first time attending a 525 exhibition and Kehun shares how this local group is bringing original art to unique spaces across Saskatoon. Before I take you the event, which as I just mentioned, was full of people, I want to share to you the exhibition statement as I think it will get you in the right frame of mind before meeting some of the artists.“Unbecoming challenges and reclaims the phrase weaponized against women and act a certain way can be viewed as ‘unbecoming,' and also references the idea of unpacking and unravelling generational impact left on women by women. Central to this exhibition are themes of evolving womanhood across generations, everyday moments that shape and celebrate female experiences, diverse expressions of femininity, and personal narratives that reveal intimate, transformative stories of empowerment.”You can follow and listen to YXE Underground wherever you find your favourite podcasts including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Goodpods or the YXE Underground website. Today's topic will resonate with many of us in midlife—a time when we feel the pull toward authenticity and self-discovery. We're diving into the idea of “unbecoming”. A journey of shedding what no longer serves us and reconnecting with our truest selves. This episode is especially for those looking to release old expectations, labels, and limiting beliefs to live a more genuine and fulfilling life. Inside this solo episode, you will find: The concept of unbecoming. Recognising that midlife can be a season to release societal expectations, old labels, and stories we've outgrown. My personal journey and shifts. I share my personal experience of stepping away from a long-held career as a teacher and how this decision was a catalyst for personal growth and transformation. Understanding that unbecoming isn't about replacing one identity with another is a gradual, often challenging process of unlearning and self-discovery. Embracing midlife shifts such as children leaving home, caring for ageing parents, and facing menopause—all of which prompt questions like, “Who am I now?” and “What do I truly want?” The power of letting go. Exploring how letting go of old roles, expectations, and limiting beliefs makes space for new dreams and passions. Encouraging women to reconnect with old dreams, explore new interests, and find what truly brings joy and fulfilment. Unbecoming can feel daunting, but it's also rich with possibility. Embrace this time as a chance to live more authentically, to be the woman you're meant to be. Thanks for listening, and here's to peeling back the layers to reveal a truer, brighter you! In the 11th season of We Go Boldly we are getting series. We're talking trauma and doing a deep dive on unbecoming. We thought it would be a good time to flashback to our episode on therapy and women's mental health. Finding a therapist who meets your needs can significantly improve your mental health and overall well-being. When searching for a therapist, it's essential to consider your specific requirements, such as expertise in women's health. Start by identifying what type of therapy might be most beneficial for you. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy are among the many approaches available. Utilize online directories and databases such as Psychology Today or TherapyTribe to filter therapists based on your preferences, including their specialization in women's health issues. Another critical step in finding a therapist is to seek recommendations from trusted sources. Friends, family members, or healthcare providers can offer valuable referrals. Additionally, many communities have local mental health organizations or women's health clinics that provide resources and referrals. When you contact potential therapists, inquire about their experience with issues related to women's health (if appropriate), such as postpartum depression, menopause, or trauma recovery. This way the therapist has the relevant expertise to understand and address your unique concerns effectively. Lastly, it is important to consider logistical factors when selecting a therapist. Check their availability, location, and whether they offer virtual sessions, which can be particularly convenient for busy women balancing multiple responsibilities. Verify if they accept your insurance or if they have a sliding scale fee structure to accommodate different financial situations. Remember, finding the right therapist might take time, but prioritizing your mental health and well-being is worth the effort. By following these steps, you can find a qualified therapist who specializes in women's health and supports you on your journey to improved mental wellness. GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK1. In this conversation, Hallie and I reflect on the importance of being present in the moment and the process of “unbecoming” to discover one's true self. Therese Oneill, author of the awesome book Unbecoming a Lady: The Forgotten Shrews and Sluts That Shaped America, joins Sara to discuss a Broad we have long been wanting to cover - the incomparable Elizabeth Packard! When Elizabeth's Reverend jerk of a husband has her committed to an insane asylum, (for disagreeing with his preaching, nonetheless!) Elizabeth bided her time patiently, working with Dr. McFarland on what she believed would be a path to quick release back to her family. However, the charade of the doctor soon became clear, and after losing her privileges, Elizabeth was relegated to the poor wing of the hospital where she witness atrocious patient treatment, even torture. After her eventual release, home imprisonment by husband and subsequent trial to prove her sanity, Elizabeth began a long journey not only to regain her family and rebuild her prospects (after said husband stole her every penny and moved the children far away), but she also began a new fight - for the rights of asylum patients, and the rights for women and their property under the law. Dr. Yasmin's latest work, "Unbecoming," dives into a near-future Texas where abortion rights are severely restricted. She wants you to know the true Sherri through her work as an influencer and hopes to lead you to your own awakening or “unbecoming” as she calls it. Sherri shares with Jeanne how being an investigator hardened her; why she thinks Gen-Xers are so resilient, what has helped her stop caring what others think; the story of the miraculous car accident; how she attempts to unravel the wiring in her brain; and the gut punch that changed her attitude about living to work. The original GenX on social media. Sherri Dias is the epitome of Gen X: She grew up in a wood-paneled, powder blue carpeted house on the outskirts of Toledo where she learned to crawl to Janis Joplin, walk to the Brady Bunch and run around (wholly unsupervised) with all the other latchkey kids to the sounds of Prince and Michael Jackson. After a highly successful career as an Investigator she quit and started her own business because she craved independence and the chance to create her own personal brand. With a collective 3 million followers across platforms like Tiktok, Sherri found her edgy voice and look resonated with her generation and others on a platform supposedly built for Gen Z. Today's episode revolves around a post that one of our listeners, Ashley Beck, put up about how the worst of us can show up so easily online. She appropriately titled the post: "A Place for the Worst in Us" and we hope this chat will help us all think twice before we post a rude or snarky comment online. Ashley starts off asking for help (on Nextdoor) after her home was burglarized. She was hoping to find neighbors who might have video surveillance, etc... The comments were thoughtful at first and then soon went to the place most social media has the tendency to go: meanness and name-calling about elected officials, police, and generalizations about the citizens of Baton Rouge. None of it was helpful or relevant. This leads Ashley to wonder: Have we lost the ability to hold our tongues, to take a step back, to not rush to snap judgment or share every thought that enters our minds?? Her post ends with encouragement as she longs for neighbors who can agree to disagree and respond with civility and respect on important matters like political issues and religious views, and more benign things like hobbies, tone of voice, and food choices, and everything in between.  Thank you Ashley for this important conversation...we all need to keep this in mind when we're online! QUOTES: "Be so confident knowing what you bring to the table that you're willing to eat alone until you find the right table." - @WomenOnTop "Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that really isn't you. So that you can be who you were meant to be in the first place." - Paulo Coelho HOSTS:Amy Brown // RadioAmy.com // @RadioAmy Kat Defatta // @Kat.Defatta // @YouNeedTherapyPodcast // YouNeedTherapyPodcast.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
