Only a couple of days following his underwhelming showing in the inaugural 2024 debate against his rival, Donald Trump, President Joe Biden made his exit from Marine One in The Hamptons. This was on a Saturday afternoon; his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, was by his side, her arm held securely in his hand. A stern expression held firm on his face. An ostensibly in sync duo, distinguished by their coordinated blue suit attire, emerged from the Francis S. Gabreski Airport, Westhampton Beach. Even though there had been widespread clamoring for the chief executive's resignation prompted by his debate mishap, the bidens found themselves in Long Island. The purpose of their visit - an opulent fundraiser, meticulously organized within the four walls of the grand abode belonging to hedge-fund tycoon Barry Rosenstein and his spouse, Lizanne. Marking the first of two significant events that Saturday intended for raising donor funds. Amongst the elite that graced the event were Howard and Beth Stern, Loews Hotels' CEO Jonathan Tisch along with his wife Lizzie, and prior White House Director of Communications during the Trump administration, Anthony Scaramucci. The substantially affluent attendees were reportedly disheartened following Biden's lackluster debate performance that highlighted concerns regarding his cognitive wellbeing, as per a publication by the New York Post. An attendee was quoted explaining, 'People paid in advance… Giving them a golden chance to leverage this occasion and coax him into withdrawing'. Another donor expressed their frustration stating, 'I wanted to witness the disaster firsthand. Picking a name from the phone directory seems a better option than having Biden.'See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, CBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Lizanne Flynn about her work in communicating with animals through energy. For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/lizanne-flynn Highlights from today's episode include: Lizanne Flynn Very often, and I would say probably 85, to probably 95% of the requests for a session involve another human contacting me and saying, my dog, cat, bird, Guana, turtle, horse, rabbit, cow, pig, whatever species it happens to be, has changed their behavior. Lizanne Flynn I think that perhaps there are maybe sometimes some kinds of trauma in the animal world that the bandwidth if as I put it has been so narrowed as to incrementally it can be expanded upon, and that's not going to happen overnight. Lizanne Flynn I do think animals can mirror for us, at times, imbalances in energy, particularly if we're talking about a domesticated animal, a dog cat, a companion animal, AKA a pet, that we have in our lives, there can be a mirroring of their behavior and an issue that's going on in our lives. ABOUT LIZANNE FLYNN: Lizanne Flynn is a master healer who works with all Earthlings to reunite them within themselves and with each other. Lizanne began her journey as facilitator of self-healing for all beings after completing her first career in healthcare human resources. Her intuitive skillset came forward after she became aware of being able to speak telepathically with animals while volunteering at a local animal shelter. Animals have always been leaders for her on her own path and will remain so based on a shared soul contract with them. It was at this point that she wanted to add a physical component to her practice and discovered canine massage in 2008 and Reiki in 2010. The shamanistic tools of journeying and soul retrieval for all species were incorporated in 2012. Her embrace of this life experience included a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis some 25 years ago and she continually awakens to the gifts that such a challenge presents. Lizanne actively seeks the input of the wisdom of Animals and the natural world. Her own team of guides continue to support, guide and ensure her security in the various roles and dimensions into which she steps. In 2020, Lizanne was awarded a patent for a portable animal therapy table by the US Patent and Trade Office which enables both human therapist and animal client to be more comfortable and secure in numerous healing modalities. Also in 2020, Lizanne founded the The Animals' iView Academy and its inaugural course The Master Language Immersion Course which is designed to connect humans more deeply to their own innate telepathic communion with the natural world and other dimensions around them. This was followed in 2021 by The Animal Ambassador and Outreach Course which is focused on creating a bridge between Animals in the wild and humans so that we may be more effective partners for them on our shared planet. Lizanne is dedicated to reawakening humans to the master universal language of energy and knows that each time she steps into the role of teacher she also steps into the role of student. She is a former instructor of both Canine Massage and Reiki at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage located in Elizabeth, Colorado. Core purpose/passion: Animals and their desire to building a closer relationship with us in which we become part of their collective awareness instead of continuing to propagate our own. Because this human-centric path upon which we're insisting, is not working for the planet or any being on the planet at this point in time. School Without Walls (SWOW) was a fully democratic school that ran from 1974 to 1997, when it was forced to shut down by Kate Carnell's Liberal Party local government. Many of those (including myself) who had the opportunity to learn at SWOW remain embittered that something quite that good - many would say life-changing – no longer exists. There are scant records available from SWOW, and this series of oral histories aims to fill that gap as fully as possible. In the first interview, we talk with Lizanne Emery, a founder and early student at the school.

This week on Womanity-Women in Unity Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to Dr. Lizanne Langenhoven who is a clinical and radiation oncologist with the Panorama Mediclinic in Cape Town. October is breast cancer awareness month, which serves as an annual international campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer; and 13 October is International Metastatic Breast Cancer Day. In today's conversation we continue to raise awareness of this important issue that effects many women and their families across the continent. From a breast cancer awareness perspective Dr. Langenhoven encourages women to take responsibility for themselves and loved ones, being our sisters' keepers and ensuring we have regular screenings. Early detection of cancer is half the battle. Dr. Langenhoven shares her team's multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment, where experts from their respective disciplines work collaboratively - seeing the same case through different eyes to derive the most suitable treatment for the patient. Cancer research is ongoing and newer treatments have become highly targeted honing into specific cancer cells to deliver therapy at a cellular level. Medicine is still a male dominated field and this sometimes impacts on the way that female doctors are perceived by patients, the way they put in double the effort required to perform their work, and causes them to mimic male voices rather than embracing their female emotive voices of empathy, care and love. Dr. Langenhoven is actively shifting the narrative to combine male and female voices to deliver the best of both to treat patients and personnel more holistically and humanly. We note that working women, whether professionals or shift workers, experience universal challenges of fulfilling their work commitments at the expense of their home lives, and consider there is room to change the current status quo to one that allows women to achieve greater balance in their lives, without compromising their responsibilities. Tune in for more…

Lizanne Falsetto is the CEO, Founder, and Chairman of betterland foods™, and the founder of thinkThin®. Long before she became an entrepreneur, Lizanne Falsetto had a career as a model. She developed food for herself on the job, and quickly discovered that her peers were interested in what she was making. She went on to create thinkThin®, the gluten-free protein bars you've seen on the shelves of grocery stores since the 90s. She sold that company a few years ago, and now she's building game-changing, cow-free dairy alternatives. Just as importantly, Lizanne's career has taken a series of unexpected twists and turns that are genuinely inspirational. She's been decorated with an impressive array of awards and accolades, and she is well-known for her philanthropy. I'm deeply honored to have her here.
Lizanne Falsetto is the Founder and CEO of Betterland Foods. Years before she became a world-renowned CEO, Lizanne Falsetto began her entrepreneurial journey at her kitchen table, inspired both by a family recipe and desire to solve a personal problem. On that table, the original thinkThin bar was created: a revolutionary bar that would become one of the most sought-after health foods on the market. Lizanne is a prescient food pioneer and protein expert who understood the benefits of a high-protein, low-sugar lifestyle 20 years before the widespread adoption of the ketogenic diet. As thinkThin scaled to reach a global audience, Lizanne became the first in the industry to stamp “gluten-free” on product packaging, ultimately paving the way for an entirely new retail category on store shelves: the nutrition bar. Lizanne's original instinct for a clear market opportunity in health food evolved into a 20-year tenure as CEO of one of the fastest-growing health food brands in history. thinkThin was acquired by Glanbia in late 2015. Lizanne founded Betterland Foods on the vision of a kinder, more sustainable food system. She and her team are committed to innovating in several categories to deliver the next evolution of accessible, clean, and protein-rich products that deliver superior taste and health while treading gently on our planet, creating a better food future for all. Lizanne is also an active member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), a board member of the Global Health & Wellness Network, Mayo Clinic Champion, host of the Vitality podcast, and the 2021/2022 Chapter Chair of the Pacific Coast Gold Chapter. Today on the show we're learning from Lizanne Falsetto, the founder of thinkThin® and betterland foods™. Lizanne began her entrepreneurial journey at her kitchen table, inspired both by a family recipe and a strong desire to solve a personal problem. On that table, the original thinkThin® bar was created: a revolutionary product that would become one of the most sought-after health foods on the market. Her original instinct for a clear market opportunity in health food evolved into a 20-year tenure as founder and CEO of one of the fastest-growing health food brands in history and was eventually acquired for $217 m in 2015. In 2020, as the pandemic disrupted life the world over, she was intrigued by the influx of food scientists creating cleaner, alternative proteins without the direct use of animals. These discoveries rekindled her entrepreneurial verve and led her to establish betterland foods™, a new venture committed to creating crave-able, delicious foods that are better for people – and better for the planet. There are so many learnings and lessons woven into this episode and I'm just so excited to be able to share this inspiring conversation with you. We chat about the early days of building the brand when Lizanne was still modeling and would bring her home-creations to shoots to get feedback. How this natural desire led her to walk straight into the path of entrepreneurship, and how she learned what she was doing along the way. Setting up "Harvard for a day" chats with consultants, and just getting her product into as many hands as possible. How important it is to keep your messaging consistent. Especially when you have limited ways to get your voice out there, to stay consistent with your messaging. And my favorite tip of all, how important it is to have your own personal financial situation in check when you get into building a business and possibly raising capital. It's so important to understand this, in order to understand the ramifications down the line. We round off by chatting about her incredible exit selling thinkThin® for $217 million. And how important it is to be ready spiritually, mentally, and emotionally before selling your business. Now, let's get straight into it. This week, Kalika looks back at her podcast with Lizanne Falsetto. Lizanne is the founder of ThinkThin, a brand that specializes in nutritional bars and snacks. During her long trips abroad as a model, Lizanne found herself cooking. She would cook old family recipes like brownies and cookies and share them with people on her trips. On one such occasion, Madonna happened to try one of her creations. Lizanne thought of her bars as something she just made in the kitchen, not realizing that Madonna would write about her bars in InStyle magazine, which kickstarted Lizanne’s journey. Listen in as she shares her incredible journey and how she ultimately sold thinkThin for over $200 million. Lizanne Falsetto is the founder of thinkThin, health and wellness visionary, business media commentator, and adviser to the next-generation of entrepreneurs. In 2000, after a decade of world travel and a successful career modeling internationally, Lizanne launched thinkThin from her own need of wanting to create a better-for-you, high protein nutrition bar for active women on the go.
WOGL honored Julie Ertz as our Remarkable Woman of the Year last year and she continues to show how remarkable she truly is. You may've seen the emotional embrace she shared with her team mate Casey Short while the National Anthem played at the start of the the second game of the National Women’s Soccer League tournament in Utah last week. It was the embrace seen and heard around the world...2 players, one white, one African American, both wearing BLM tee's knelt, hugged and wept together to show unity in sports and in friendship. Julie's statement is below. Just one more reason we wanted to share Julie and Marilyn's conversation on sports, love, life, support and giving back to the community. “Currently, every time the national anthem is played, our country continues to become more and more divided on what the visual symbol of unity looks like,” Short and Ertz said in a joint statement they released Tuesday. “Through our continuous conversations we wanted to make sure that whatever we decided to do, it would not be an empty gesture. It would be a gesture that portrayed that we have heard those who needed to be heard, validated and loved. “That moment during the anthem was difficult, very difficult. We are still searching but we are humbled by the outpouring of support.” Marilyn also sits down with the President of St Hubert's High School for Girls, Lizanne Magarity Pando to learn how brick and mortar schools quickly adjusted to teaching digitally from home and getting the class of 2020 ready to graduate. The students, with the help of their sewing teacher, leapt into action from home and helped make masks for hundreds of health-care workers in Philadelphia. Lots more to the story so listen in.

In this episode, Emma Park speaks with Lee and Lizanne Harris about their experience of the collective worship requirement in schools. The Harrises recently initiated judicial review proceedings against the primary school attended by their children. They challenged its decision to provide no alternative to a proselytising Christian assembly once a week conducted by representatives of the local C of E church. Lee and Lizanne discuss their children’s experiences of these assemblies, what happened when they withdrew them, and the school’s failure to provide a secular alternative until they were forced to by the threat of legal proceedings. The Harrises’ case may encourage other parents to speak up about concerns that their children will be indoctrinated if they participate in religious assemblies, and excluded from school life if they do not. Marilyn Monroe, Jamie Sheriff and Me Hi, this is Hal Aaron Cohen and welcome to my podcast Tales of the Road Warriors No guest, today. Just me, Hal Aaron and I’ll be driving solo. You still get a great story , though. One of my own Tales of the Road Warriors. Fun times! Today, I want to share what’s ahead for the Tales of the Road Warriors podcast, but first, let me tell you a little about what’s been going on, as well as what’s going on right now. First, I want to thank all of you for listening, especially those of you who follow and share the show with your friends and on social media. I also want to thank everyone who has been a guest on the show, and thanks in advance to those who will be joining me on future episodes. Oh, and lest I forget – I’d like to give a big shoutout to my old friend Joe Walla for allowing me to use his instrumental, PLAYA DEL SPAIN, featuring his fretboard virtuosity and signature, Hola Gente! – as the opening theme music. By the way, “Hola Gente” is Spanish for “Hello, People” A couple of weeks ago, I recorded a live episode of TotRW with Lizanne Knott, her daughter Ciara and Philly folk-rock music icon and author, Dan May. It was a sweltering 102 degree day and I can’t thank them enough for participating. It was recorded live by Kev Gallagher at the Tattoed Mom on 5th & South Street in Philadelphia as part of the Philadelphia Podcast Festival. Kev is the host of a podcast called, Everything is Awesome and is the co-host of The Zombcast. Kev also writes for Dark Knight News and is working on a science fiction series and probably more projects I’m not privy to. He’s ALSO a dad to two kids. Despite all the stuff he’s got going on in his life, Kev volunteered to record all of the podcasts at the Tatooed Mom during the week of the Philly Pod Fest. So a HUGE thanks to Kev . Also a big thank you to Nathan and Taegan Kuruna the organizers of Philly Podcast Festival – for including a new, still-in-the-baby-stages Tales of the Road Warriors. I am grateful for the opportunity, even if I did choke a little and probably squandered my opportunity a little bit. Tell you what… I’m blaming the heat. In the meantime, Dan, Lizanne and Ciara were the perfect guests. I haven’t edited that show yet and I apologize for getting behind, but, I got a healthy dose of last minute music gigs, and that combined with trying to get ready for the live podcast and a big event in Orlando, Florida, I’ve just been short on time. I try to get an episode out every Thursday, but, as you know – Life happens. Being the Chief, Cook and Head Bottle Washer, I can’t always be as consistent as I’d like right now, but I’m working on solutions. Hopefully, I can find a collaborator or possibly build a small team to keep the show running a little more efficiently. So what’s next? Well, I’m going to take a brief hiatus because I’m heading for another Podcast event. This one is the big one. It’s called Podcast Movement 2019 and they’re expecting about 3,000 podcasters from all over the world, all converging in Orlando, Florida. My goal is to learn all I can about the podcasting industry; meet some movers and shakers, check out new opportunities in podcasting, maybe acquire a sponsor or two, some new gear and ultimately make Tales of the Road Warriors better than ever. I’m still in the process of tweaking the show, the format, curating great guests and stories and honing my own skills as a host. I know I have a long way to go, but as my old Pappy used to say, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts”. So now that you’re all caught up, it’s time for a Tale from Uncle Hal… I call it Me, Jamie Sheriff, and the Ghost of Marilyn Monroe If you’ve been listening to past Tales of the Road Warriors, then you already know I was a singing waiter for about six years. SO, this happened at the Great American Food and Beverage Company. Now, at the GA, we had two dining main dining areas – the Piano Room and the Green Room. Piano players couldn’t work in the green room because well, there was no piano in there. In the Piano Room, however , there was an old spinet which actually sounded pretty great considering the pounding it took night after night and there were some pretty good keyboard players working there. There’s Chuck Francour, who still entertains around the Florida area and now calls himself Sweet Charlie, David Bloom, entertains American tourists in Mexico at a beautiful resort, Joe Turano, who worked with Ricki Lee Jones, Michael Bolton and was musical director for Al Jarraeu for 17 years. There were a few others, but most noteably – Jamie Sheriff. Jamie went on to become an 80’s solo artist. His album, No Heroes was engineered by the legendary producer, Ken Scott – most noted for his work with David Bowie. To this day, we’re all still in touch on Facebook. I still talk to Jamie pretty regularly. Now, I played mostly guitar, but occasionally switched to piano for a song or two. I’m no virtuoso, but I play well enough to accompany myself on piano for some songs. One of those songs was Candle in the Wind by Elton John. But, if Jamie had time between customers, he would offer to accompany me on the piano while I played guitar. One night Jamie suggested something novel… He asked me if I ever thought about just singing the song without the guitar while he accompanied me on the piano, so I could concentrate on the vocal. I felt completely naked an totally insecure if I wasn’t holding a guitar while performing, but I’d seen others, who didn’t know how to play an instrument, get up and sing, so I thought why not, and agreed to give it a shot. Now, hanging on the wall, just to the right of the piano were these mirrors. Painted onto the mirrors were silhouettes of famous -people, these mirrors were very popular in the sixties and 70’s. One had Elvis. There was one each of all four Beatles (I think – Maybe just John Lennon)… and then the one closest to the piano was Marilyn Monroe. So Jamie starts playing the Candle In The Wind, I’m just standing there like a poor man’s Wayne Newton or some lounge lizard, feeling completely stupid. So , then, I just jumped right into the first verse. Hey, you know what? It wasn’t horrible. Once I started, I felt a little more comfortable. While, in the midst of singing, that Marilyn mirror caught my eye. So I quickly thought, “Hey, here’s an idea… I’ll take the mirror off the wall during the instrumental and then during the third verse, I’ll hold it up to the crowd and that’ll be really cool!” But Marilyn had an even grander idea… I removed the mirror from the wall easily enough. I didn’t drop it. Everything was going as planned. As Jamie’s piano solo was concluding, I set the mirror at my feet, planning to pick it up as I sang, “Goodbye Norma Jean, from the young man in the 22nd row…” But before that happened, I noticed a few people staring at the ceiling and murmuring, so I looked up to see what they were looking at… The mirror was sitting at my feet at such an angle that when the light above the piano hit it, it projected a blue, ghostly image of Marilyn Monroe, smiling down at the people dining at the table in front of me. Not everyone in the room saw it until I got to that part of the song. SO I milked it for all it was worth. I dropped to my knees and gazed into Marilyn’s haunting eyes as I sang the last verse. A quiet reverence took hold of the room and when the song ended, the crowd just sat there stunned for a second or two, then burst into a huge applause. It couldn’t have been better if we had planned it. Of course, from then on, Jamie and I made that song a permanent part of the evening, whenever we worked together. I like to think that Marilyn herself was smiling at me with approval that night. I hope you enjoyed my little story. Please add Tales of the Road Warriors to your favorite podcast app. If you’re on an iPhone, you can listen on Apple Podcasts. For Android, there are several options. My favorite is Himalaya. If you go the Tales of the Road Warriors home page, there are links to several of the most popular apps for podcasts. Oh! Hey!! The reminds me. It’s come to my attention that there are still plenty of people who don’t listen to podcasts. Not this one, not any. I’ve come to discover that some of you haven’t discovered podcasts, don’t know how to listen to them, don’t understand the advantage of having podcasts in their life. So, I’m working on a “how-to” video, to demonstrate the different ways to listen to podcasts in order to make it easier to get into them. I’ll let you know when it’s ready, so this e of you who already enjoy podcasts can finally share the experience with friends. All right, I think I’m done here. Mission accomplished! So, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going for a drive! Listen to Tales of the Road Warriors on HIMALAYA Please listen, share and comment below. There’s also a Tales of the Road Warriors Facebook Group if you want to start or contribute to the conversation there. Anyway, let me know what’s on your mind, one way or another. Thanks !
Annie interviews Lizanne Falsetto, the founder of ThinkThin nutrition bars and the Pink Talented Angels. Learn how Lizanne built her multi-million dollar company from scratch out of her own kitchen, and what she is doing now to help female entrepreneurs succeed! www.lizannefalsetto.com
Lizanne Falsetto epitomizes today’s woman. She is a celebrated CEO & founder of thinkThin® ( the lifestyle brand she sold in late 2015), health and wellness visionary, retail trend spotter, sought-after business media commentator, and advisor to the next-generation of entrepreneurs. While a successful fashion model in the 1990s, she hungered for a protein-rich, high-energy on-the-go snack, that was low in sugar and gluten-free. thinkThin® was founded to address this market opportunity. Crafted by hand from a personal recipe, thinkThin® quickly scaled nationally and globally. What began as a clear market opportunity in health foods ended up as a 20-year tenure as CEO of one of the fastest-growing health food snacks in history. After thinkThin® was acquired in December of 2015, Lizanne began a new chapter as an advisor to CEOs and early stage entrepreneurs with clear track records in product design, market share capture, and revenue-relevant business leadership. A natural explorer with an affinity for spotting retail trends long before they come into popularity, Lizanne started lizannefalsetto.com in 2018 as a wellness platform to share insights as she travels the world trying new and ancient foods, herbal remedies and products that are said to increase energy, stamina, and promote wellness & longevity. She looks for clues from the past to help create a simpler healthier future. Focusing on three key pillars: Advisory, Food and Wellness - lizannefalsetto.com is an opportunity to share not only her experiences in building a national lifestyle brand and support other entrepreneurs (Advisory), but to go on an adventure to discover health and well-being through nutrition, traditional Chinese herbs, recipes, trends in food/food science, DIY natural beauty tips and reviews on organic products. Lizanne divides her time between Los Angeles and her organic ranch in Ojai, where she raises her two children and tends to her avocado orchard & garden.
Lizanne Falsetto, a celebrated woman entrepreneur, founder and former CEO of thinkThin®, joins Kalika Yap on today's Wonder podcast episode. Lizanne takes us on her journey of how thinkThin® started from her kitchen as some treats she made and gave to models in LA, to paving the way to become the first brand that put gluten-free on their wrapper and becoming a trailblazer in the portable food category. She shares her struggles and triumphs in raising her children, selling her business, and what she wants fellow women entrepreneurs to know in order to become successful. Tune in now!
The Draconis Memoria series is comprised of a trilogy set in a world where drake (dragon) blood is a prized commodity, the basis of the trading fortune of the Ironship Syndicate. It is a brilliant, savage adventure. When I jumped in with Anthony Ryan’s latest release, ominously named The Empire of Ashes (Ace, 2018), I soon realized I couldn’t do justice to the detailed, intricately plotted series without reading all three. In for a penny, in for a pound. August, September, and October found me delving into a world with various cultures: a decadent empire, complete with a doddering emperor, and another continent in thrall to a powerful corporation. There were steaming jungles, barren mountains, and ice floes overlaying ocean-bed volcanoes In addition to the challenges of noting the terrain and politics, there are multiple points of view, as in most adult epic fiction. From my reading, two main characters emerged, and tied together the evolving narrative. Lizanne Lethridge is a ruthless Special Initiatives Agent, an employee of the Ironship Trading Syndicate with a taste for explosives and occasional dalliances. Clay Torcreek is an emotionally scarred young man, survivor of a slum called The Blinds. They’re both Blood-Blessed; humans that can ingest the blood of drakes and manifest superpowers. When Clay is forced into service by Lizanne’s employers, he and Lizanne are initially at odds. In the first book, Clay is sent on a secret expedition to find out what happened to an earlier force that braved the interior of the continent Arradsia intent on finding the fabled White Drake. A taste of its blood and the future becomes known. When Clay encounters the White Drake in its resting place, and unintentionally activates it, he learns that the beast has its own nefarious plans for humanity. In the second book, he and Lizanne become unlikely allies, dedicated to stopping the threat. Clay and his kin go south to a land of perpetual snow, to seek out the secret of crystals from space that are linked to the past and can induce changes in drakes and humans. Lizanne infiltrates a prison, looking for a mysterious man called the Tinkerer, who may be able to unlock the secret of an ancient music box which holds additional clues about the White Drake. In the process of breaking out of the infamous prison, she becomes known as Miss Blood, and topples an empire. Clay, on his own journey, discovers a long-lost culture and a 2000-year old survivor under the ice. In meantime, the White Drake leads the drakes in a war against mankind. The otherworldly crystals aid the transformation of its human captives into “the Spoiled.” The Spoiled, who have a linked consciousness, are under the control of the White Drake, who mobilizes them as an army, as well as occasionally feeding them to its brood. Will Clay, Lizanne, and their allies find the key to destroying the White Dragon? The third book, the last, concludes the series and the fight against the White Drake’s domination. Lizanne Falsetto launched her Think Thin empire in the mid 90s—based on a hunch: people wanted a high protein, low sugar energy bar that tasted great. Listen in on the story of how the former model and mom of two crafted a winning recipe in her own kitchen, learned to trust her instinct, and launched the company with her own money. And with the 2016 sale of Think Thin — for a reported 217 million dollars — hear how Lizanne is pivoting, once again.
Lizanne Falsetto ditched a college basketball scholarship for an international modeling career. While on the road, Lizanne found herself hungry but didn’t like the fast food options so she created her own high-protein, zero-sugar, food-on-the-go snack, what we now call the thinkThin® bar! It set a trend as the FIRST protein bar to be gluten-free. “The No. 1 thing that I would say to the women out there who want to learn about cash flow is to always keep your payables (what you have to pay) at least 20% lower than your receivables (the money coming in).” - Lizanne Falsetto. In Episode 3 of Canada's Court, Lizanne Murphy talks about the 2016 Olympics, her recovery from a torn ACL, and what it means to her to be an Olympian.
The title of today's show, Pushing Up the Sidewalk, was inspired by rabble blogger Lizanne Foster. Lizanne's blog on rabble is called Education in the age of climate change. She's a high school teacher in B.C. who shares some of her thoughts about working creatively in a regimented education system. Three educators from three levels of education — secondary school, college and university — talk about changing the landscape of education. Pushing up sidewalks, creating cracks in concrete. 1.) Lizanne Foster: Lizanne's blog focuses on education from a very specific angle — she talks about education and climate change. She wrote an article which was posted on August 8 where she asked the question “Are schools preparing today's students for tomorrow's problems?” 2.) Tim Green: Back in the days of old, the difference between university and college was distinct. If you wanted a more broad education, you went to university. If you wanted to fix cars or become a dental hygenist, you went to college. The lines between college and university have blurred since then. Tim Green teaches environmental studies, philosophy and critical thinking at Georgian College in Barrie Ontario. He talks to rabble radio about what colleges are doing to help students ask the big questions. 3.) Erin Soros: Erin is a writer and scholar currently appointed as an Andrew Mellon postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto's Jackman Humanities Institute. She researches collective trauma and teaches courses on literature and psychoanalysis, and literature and human rights. She's also done a lot of thinking about how universities do, and don't, accommodate students with mental disabilities. This episode of Folk Roots Radio features an interview with Philadelphia singer-songwriter Lizanne Knott who joins us to chat about her latest album, the bluesy and jazzy “Excellent Day”, a smoky and sultry delight and one of our favourites of the year so far. And, as always, we also check out some of the latest new releases. Check out the full playlist at http://folkrootsradio.com.
Long standing member of the Philadelphia music scene and partner in Grammy Award winning MorningStar Studios, Lizanne Knott released a great new album earlier this year – the bluesy and jazzy “Excellent Day”. A smoky and sultry delight, it features eight original songs and four well-chosen covers… The Gershwins’ “Ain’t Necessarily So”, Springsteen’s “Stolen Car”, Janis Ian’s “Sometimes” and Jef Lee Johnson’s “Excellent Day”. Lizanne Knott joined us on Folk Roots Radio to chat about her music, the new album and, the fact that, despite critical acclaim, she’s still generally better known in the UK than North America. It’s time we change that! For more information, visit http://lizanneknott.com.

The Making of the Woman and the thinkThin BrandComing from a big Italian family Lizanne Falsetto was a foodie from a young age. Influenced by her grandfather's kitchen garden and grandmother's cooking; good food, good health – it was instilled. Later, modeling internationally, Lizanne developed a better-for-you version of her grandmother's recipe as portable and delicious nutrition. This ultimately became the prototype for the thinkThin bar and the foundation of her second career. By the time she finished modeling and returned to the States, the mother of two followed her entrepreneurial instincts into the fast growing, competitive environment of nutrition bars. Over a decade later, Lizanne had built thinkThin from early relationships with Whole Foods Market and the natural channel, into mass grocery and club stores.

This is Lizzard makes diverse and dynamic music, with contrasts and varied arrangements, based on alternative-pop/rock with country, soul, reggae and funk influences. This is Lizzard was founded in 1998 by American singer/lyricist Lizanne Hennessey and Dutch musician/composer Roland Stolk.
