This week's briefing covers three things every construction leader should understand before they sign off on anything this year.David Gal from Samsara makes the argument that three quarters of construction hasn't even started the thing that comes before AI. Not behind on AI. Behind on the step underneath it. He lays out a four stage journey, and most firms are at stage zero, still on the clipboard, still ringing round to find out where the excavator is. One firm he works with lost twenty million dollars of equipment in a single year without knowing it. The cost of not digitising is not zero. You just cannot see the bill yet. Then KPMG surveyed over two thousand senior executives across twenty countries. Nearly a third said they had no idea where their growing AI costs were coming from. MIT looked at corporate AI projects and found ninety five percent of them fail, not on the technology, but on the groundwork nobody did. The AI worked. The organisation around it did not.And the data centre boom, the thing keeping order books healthy while housing sits flat, is starting to slip. Not because the money has dried up. The four biggest tech companies are spending north of six hundred and fifty billion dollars this year alone. It is slipping because the wait for transformers and switchgear has stretched from two years to five. You can have the land, the funding and the chips and still not be able to build. The same problem is underneath all three. And construction, the industry everyone calls backward, already knows what it is.Drop your answer in the comments of this week's LinkedIn post.

In this episode of UC Today, host Kristian McCann sits down with Nick Gonios, VP of Learning Transformation and Company Ambassador at TalentLMS, to explore one of the biggest hidden challenges in corporate learning: the Completion Trap. As AI rapidly transforms the workplace and organizations race to reskill their workforces, traditional learning metrics are increasingly falling short. Completion percentages and attendance figures may look impressive on a dashboard, but they reveal very little about whether employees can apply what they've learned to improve business outcomes. In this conversation, Nick explains why organizations have become fixated on measuring learning activity instead of learning impact, how outdated KPIs continue to reinforce the problem, and why this disconnect is creating friction, reducing productivity, and slowing organizational transformation.Key topics covered include:Why course completion is a poor indicator of real learning and competence. What TalentLMS' latest research reveals about learning metrics, employee behavior, and business impact. How AI can move beyond content creation to deliver personalized, relevant learning experiences.Practical steps organizations can take to align learning initiatives with productivity and business outcomes.Next StepsIf you enjoyed this discussion, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to UC Today for more conversations with industry leaders shaping the future of work, AI, learning, and enterprise technology.

Get on the DEFENSE waitlist: elizabethbenton.com/defense-app/ My kids planted zinnias, and then they stopped growing. They came through the dirt and just sat there, day after day, doing nothing. I was ready to take a chainsaw to a tree over it. Turns out the zinnias weren't broken. They were in the root stage. All the energy was going underground, where I couldn't see it, building the system that lets a plant shoot up later. The part that looked like failure was actually the most important work the plant would ever do. This episode is about what that root stage exposes in us. We want results to show up in tandem with our effort, and they don't. There is almost always a gap between when you put the work in and when you get to see it. That gap is where most people quit their debt payoff, their nutrition, their training, and go looking for a different plan that isn't actually the problem. So I'm asking you the honest question. Have you been consistent over time, through a stretch where you weren't seeing results? And if your answer is "kinda," I'll save you the suspense. Kinda is a no. If it's not a hell yes, it's a no. We also get into the apple tree, and why I have to pick the blossoms off mine this year on purpose. You have a finite amount of energy, and you cannot fruit in every area of your life at once. Not everything has to fruit this season. The trick is choosing where the energy goes instead of thinning it across everything and panicking when nothing blooms. Here's the thing underneath all of it. The stalling period is a predictable vulnerability. You will hit it every single time, in every pursuit that matters. It's the exact moment the negotiation starts and the standard begins to bend. And anything you can see coming, you can build defense against. That's what DEFENSE Foundations is. It's the structure that gets you through the root stage without bending, so you stop negotiating against the woman you could be in the moment it counts. You already know where you quit last time. Let's build the thing that gets you through it. You can't have a fruit system without a root system. Stop reaching for the chainsaw. Get on the DEFENSE waitlist: elizabethbenton.com/defense-app/

Your projects keep stalling and you've been blaming the wrong thing. It's not your team. It's not that they lack ownership. It's not that they don't care. The real reason is something most new managers don't see coming, and once you see it, you can fix it this week. Are you leaving meetings feeling aligned, only to come back a week later and realize nothing moved? Are you constantly refereeing decisions nobody seems willing to make? Are you carrying the anxiety of entire projects because no one knows what they actually own? In this episode, you'll learn why productive meetings don't create ownership, why decisions freeze when no one knows who has the authority to call it, and how to bring clarity to one stuck project before this week is out using a simple framework. Two sentences. That's all it takes to save yourself two weeks of spinning. I'm James Rosseau Sr. I've spent 20-plus years in corporate leadership leading large teams at JPMorgan Chase, Allstate, LegalShield, and beyond, and I've watched this one thing drain projects over and over. If you're tired of meetings that lead nowhere, frozen decisions, and carrying the weight of every project on your back, this episode is for you. Grab your coffee, close your office door, and let's get to work.
You set the goal: get the weight off before the long weekend, before the conference, before you see those people again. And you're great at it… for a couple weeks. Then you get sick, or your kid gets sick, or you have a week from hell — and one off day turns into "well, I blew it, I'm done." In this episode I sit down with registered psychotherapist Brian Baumal to talk about why that keeps happening, and why it has almost nothing to do with willpower. We get into the quiet shame hiding underneath the rush, why slowing way down actually works better, and a surprisingly simple place to start that has nothing to do with changing what you eat. If you've ever thought "it's just a fact that I always fail at this" — this one's for you. You can find Brian at alivapsychotherapy.com.
ByteDance just unveiled Seedance 2.5, a new state-of-the-art AI video model with 30-second one-shot generations, as American AI stalls out and Fable 5 stays down. This week on AI For Humans, China is not just catching up in AI, it is pushing the edge. We break down everything Seedance 2.5 can do and why a 30-second single-pass clip is a real leap, then dig into the American slowdown as Fable 5 stays unusable and the rumor mill points to a big delay week. Plus Theo Von's surprisingly intense anti-datacenter rant, OpenAI's claim that China is behind the anti-datacenter conversation, Meta leaking private employee data across the entire company, and Google teaming with A24 on a 75 million dollar AI filmmaking partnership. Craig Cobb focuses this week on a market many crypto investors overlook: the U.S. Dollar Index. After breaking above major resistance around the 100 level, Craig believes the dollar may be beginning a larger move higher toward 106. Historically, stronger dollar environments have created pressure for equities and other risk assets, leading him to question whether Bitcoin could face another leg lower if the trend continues. On the crypto side, Craig remains cautious. Bitcoin continues struggling below key resistance around $65,000, and while a move above roughly $67,300 could shift the daily trend back to bullish, he believes the probabilities still favor downside for now. Across the broader market, assets like Cardano, Dogecoin, Solana, and XRP remain trapped below important resistance levels, with Tron standing out as one of the few exceptions showing relative strength.Craig's message remains simple: trade the trend, not the narrative. While last week's decline created profitable opportunities for traders, the market is now sitting in what he calls "no man's land." Until clearer trends emerge, he believes patience, risk management, and waiting for high-probability setups remain the best strategy.Check Craig out at:Market Intern: https://marketintern.com/The Grow Me Co: https://www.thegrowmeco.com/Happy Hodling, Everyone. Iran and the US are still following the path of negotiation, despite hitches. Iran's team walked out of talks in Switzerland today after Donald Trump publicly threatened to resume bombing and take over the Strait of Hormuz. Economist Middle East correspondent, Gregg Carlstrom, says it's not clear how much has been achieved. But he says there's agreement to continue technical talks. "One would imagine nuclear experts, sanctions experts, the people who would have to work out the nuts and bolts of any final agreement - they're going to keep negotiating and so that's the one slightly encouraging sign." Here's what we know. SLED reopened Stephen Smith's case in 2021 because of information found during the Murdaugh murder investigation. In 2023, SLED officially reclassified Stephen's death as a homicide. His body was exhumed. A second autopsy was performed. Those results are sealed. Kenny Kinsey — the prosecution's star forensic witness from the Murdaugh murder trial — is now independently investigating Stephen's death because he believes critical opportunities were missed in 2015. And still — no arrest. No suspect named. No charges.Eric Bland represents Sandy Smith and has a direct line into this investigation. On True Crime Today, he addresses whether SLED is deliberately holding back until the Murdaugh retrial plays out. He explains whether anyone from the prosecution's side has ever spoken to him about the overlap between these cases. And he gives Sandy's perspective on what another year of silence means for a mother who has been fighting since before anyone cared about the Murdaugh name.Bland also addresses the Buster Murdaugh defamation settlement — and whether that legal resolution makes it harder or easier for Sandy to get answers about her son.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? (23:41, 24:10) Reflect on the depiction of trauma and mental health among officers in the episode. How did the show use Lou's backstory to highlight these issues, and how did Pat Doering and Michael Clyde react to it? (33:38, 53:58) What are the challenges negotiators face when outcomes are not successful? How do Pat Doering and Michael Clyde emphasize dealing with “losing cases”? (35:14, 38:12) Discuss the role and importance of teamwork between negotiators and tactical teams. What strategies do Michael Clyde and Pat Doering recommend for building better collaboration? (01:16:14, 01:18:15) How does the rapid resolution of cases and evidence processing in television (the “CSI effect”) affect public expectations of policing, as mentioned by the hosts? (33:02, 01:01:02) In the episode, mental health for both suspects and officers plays a key role. How should police respond to or support officers dealing with trauma? What resources were discussed as helpful? (56:27) What commentary do the hosts provide on the pissing matches (power struggles) frequently depicted between negotiators and SWAT or tactical leaders in Hollywood? How accurate is this, and what do real teams do instead? (26:30, 27:11) After a negotiation ends, what does “good closure” look like for both the subject and the team, according to Michael Clyde and Pat Doering? How does this differ from the abrupt TV ending? (01:13:15) What did Mike Wilkerson, Pat Doering, and Michael Clyde identify as both the “goods” and “bads” in this episode's depiction of crisis negotiation? Which points resonated most with you and why?
