God created us as reflections of Him. The plot of the enemy was to tell us we needed to be even better – maybe even reflect someone else. Satan wants to keep us busy with wanting to be like someone else, to have what they have, believing that if we get to the next level we will finally be truly happy and complete.

Today Heather called in to share her experience with fear and her journey into the health and fitness space. Heather talks about being an entrepreneur and feeling scared to really put herself out there. She would do what she calls lots of busy work. Work that wasn’t really advancing her business but made her feel like she was doing something in order to avoid the uncomfortable stuff - the stuff where you need to confront rejection. Heather talks about getting mentors, therapists or business coaches that can help us confront and become self aware. Heather talks about the importance of taking the self discovery journey. Once she gained the clarity and found her purpose she was able to approach business and life differently and take control of her power. Today Heather and Ryan speak with Zack Potter.Faith Journey – Grew up in El Paso, TX. Introduced to marijuana around 12 yrs old. Didn't get along with mom and mom's boyfriend. Prayed that he wanted to be an only child and get out of El Paso and then a few days later he was kicked out of his house. Had an aunt who would visit and give him Bibles. Moved to Lancaster to live with that aunt.Attended “The Way” ministry with Gus Jones here at WC with his aunt. It opened up his eyes. Things Gus was saying that first night matched up with what was going on with his life and Gus didn't really know anything about him. Zach was trying to figure out who God was and if He was real. Went through a phase of being really into it, but then got caught up in his own thing and doing dumb stuff here like he did in El Paso. Went back to El Paso, but didn't feel like he belonged there and felt he would keep falling back into the old pattern of living if he stayed there. Then moved back here again. Now more interested in finishing school and maybe going to college. The Bible makes perfect sense – it doesn't work out without God (look back).Learning lessons over and over from same mistakes. Stubborn and prideful. Tried it the hard way, his way. That doesn't work.People you surround yourself with matters. People perceive you by how you look. The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz– victims of how we think based on who we surround ourselves with. What advice would you give your 16 year old self? Stop hanging out with certain people. Stop putting things off and chase what you want and don't wait. About your faith – Don't be stubborn. God reaches out to people in different ways. What are you trying to do well? Be intentional about going to church, trying different churches. Somewhere I can do me and not where everyone else knows me. Bought a study Bible and want to read it more. Doing two Bible studies. Surround yourself with people trying to do the same thing – hard to talk about God in front of my good friend. But pointing things out with accountability to each other – learn and grow from each other. Phillipians 13-21 - Maturity and knowing what you need to do at the moment. Converge – You need to be direct. Be straightforward. What would you tell others? Don't be hormonal. Listen to your parents because they are right like 95% of the time. Do what you need to do and not what you want to do. Save money – give 10% tithes. Chase what you want (and make sure it is the right thing) DM us @Convergewc

Hello Faithful Listeners! So, yeah, this episode is a bit late, (or a bit early if you want to pretend last week didn’t happen). Here’s why: The end of our first quarter of distance learning has just come to a close. If you’re a teacher you know that means it’s student desperation time. The students who never looked at their grades the entire quarter, decide to the night after everything is due. Then it’s the “Huh? How come you gave me a D (or F)?” reaction. (emphasis on the YOU GAVE like it’s my fault the work was never turned in) This is then followed by the “here’s my 20 late assignments. Please grade them now” email. Then come the parent emails explaining how Johnny is crying and if there is any possible way to bring his grade up please let me know.” Since Jen, Sharyn, and I are real teachers with real (virtual) classes with real (virtual) students, and this podcast is our side hustle, it took a backseat to the job that pays our bills. So we’d like to extend our appreciation that you are still here and listening. Today Heather, the principal, and Anne (#2), our teacher’s Union representative, are joining us to discuss the topic of teacher evaluations. You know, that lovely time when an administrator sits in the back of your classroom taking copious notes while watching you attempt to be completely natural while teaching. We discuss: What admins are really looking for, the purpose of these evaluations, rights teachers have if they receive a bad evaluation, and of course, our suggestions for how to make evaluations more effective. Speaking of evaluations… We’d LOVE it if you’d evaluate us. Please rate and review our podcast on your favorite platform so more people can find us. And share this podcast with other education-minded people (which means everyone, because everyone should care about education!) By the way….anyone else find it interesting that education was hardly mentioned in the run-up to this election? I remember when claiming to be the “education candidate” was a thing. Today Heather and I are going to talk about sports. Heather has never held this as an idol but I think there are many out there who are not holding this correctly. Pastor Phil has had a problem with this in the past. If my team wins, all is good, but if they lose then it effects the rest of the day or even more. We can be passionate about sports and get excited but it shouldn't control our whole world. Let's run the race! The music on the podcast is from John Nugent. Today Heather and I explore more of the topic of idols. We focus on relationships as an idol. It is okay to miss people and being with them is good, but if we are looking to a relationship to fulfill us or give us an identity, then it is in the wrong position. We need to evaluate our relationships to see a godly perspective in it all. The music on the podcast is from John Nugent. Today Heather shares a miraculous experience she had as she was seeking answers from doctors to help save her baby’s life. Harrison was diagnosed first with “failure to thrive” but there were mysterious underlying causes behind his inability to receive nourishment. After two years of dead ends from the medical field, she finally got a new diagnosis of EOE (Eosinophilic esophagitis). Yet she still had no solutions to the problem. In a moment of desperate prayer, she received a very clear message from God on how to help her son heal. She pulled into her mother’s intuition and followed her instincts and instructions from God and soon her boy started to gain weight and heal. Now that he is a strong nine-year-old boy, the miracle of this experience is not lost on her. Thanks for joining me in the movement that miracles still happen. “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of the disease.”Thomas EdisonIf we want to repair our broken health care system and move culture towards true, long-term sustainable wellness, then medicine must embrace a a new approach to healing. An approach that's so new, it's old.Less reductive, more holistic.Less diagnose & prescribe and more all-encompassing, functional and preventive.Let’s kick start that conversation. This week's guest is nutritionist, acupuncturist, herbalist, Reiki Master and expert Chinese Medicine practitioner Heather Lounsbury, author of Fix Your Mood with Food*.Although she gave up meat nearly 30 years ago for ethical reasons, Heather was a junk food vegetarian with zero interest health until hers hit the skids. Moody and constantly fatigued, she began experimenting with nutrition and was astonished to discover the extent to which she could modulate her physical and emotional vitality relative to the types of foods she would eat. This realization lead Heather to pursue graduate degrees in nutrition and Chinese medicine. Today Heather is a well respected clinical practitioner with over a decade of experience treating patients with a wide variety of mental, emotional and physical issues. Her basic message? Live natural. Live well. Food has a far greater impact than we recognize on not only our physical health but on our mental and emotional health as well. Not only can proper diet (amplified by additional holistic healing measures) alleviate stress and elevate your mood naturally, it can prevent and often reverse a wide variety of chronic infirmities, including heart disease, elevated cholesterol, digestive issues, diabetes (diabesity!) and more.Over the course of our conversation we discuss:How pain and digestive disorders can be holistically managed and alleviated; How holistic healing practices can be used to treat mental health & addiction issues; The importance of progress over perfection; The role and function of certain herbs on physiological functions;Primer and origin of food allergies;Thoughts on GMO’s, Omega- 3 EFA's & Supplementation; andAddressing the social barriers that impede healthy eating.Lots of good stuff to chew on this week. I hope you enjoy the conversation.Peace + Plants,Listen & Subscribe on iTunes | Soundcloud | Stitcher | TuneInToday's show was brought to you by Audible.com.
