In this first episode of Season 3, I sit down near Catskill, New York where I met this next guest last year.DeMar, who was shooting a music video at the time, had been released from Federal Prison just a couple of years before we met.First incarcerated at the age of 12, and having spent 14 of his last 26 years in jail or prison, 38-year-old DeMar shares his journey and experiences with me.He opens up about the police brutality he has experienced, what life was like for him in prison, the trauma he still has from his time in incarceration, how he is reintegrating back into what he calls "the free world", and he also shares his views on the prison system.Tune in to part 2 of my conversation with DeMar where he tells me about the spiritual practice he discovered during his last sentence in Federal Prison, and the song he wrote inside about what it's like to be incarcerated. To see photos of DeMar & I in conversation - check out my Instagram page @pipsperspective
In this second part of my conversation with DeMar, he tells me about Santeria, the spiritual practice he discovered while in Federal Prison and one he attributes to helping him to never go back. It's such a great story and DeMar is an amazing storyteller! Also a talented rapper known as "Fly Guy Impulse", we talk about DeMar's music - how he wrote his first raps while incarcerated and about his beautifully sad song, Lost Souls, written while in Federal Prison about what it's like to be incarcerated. And we shoot the shit a bit about how we first met and what it's like to make a music video on the fly.To see photos of me and DeMar, check out my Instagram page at @pipsperspective

I went to my eye doctor on Thursday and he sent me to a specialist on Friday. He saw it and said he wanted it out that day. I wanted a second opinion. I went to the second opinion on Monday and he said the 1st doctor was correct. So I went to a surgeon on Tuesday, talked with them and got the surgery for eye removal on Wednesday. I got the results after the eye was sent off to the laboratory that it was a stage 4. I was lucky everything worked out for me. 1988 - Paul began his flying career with the company "Flying By Foy", where he became Peter Foy's protege. 1995 - After 8 years of service, feeling he had reached his full potential, Paul became one of the founders of the fledgling company ZFX, Inc. This is where he truly began to carve a niche for himself as an aerial choreographer / designer. Paul's passion, creativity, artistry, and ability to communicate with directors, designers, and performers kept him in high demand. 2004 - Now known as "The Fly Guy," Paul realized his corporate obligations were beginning to take him away from his true passion. He knew it was time to spread his wings and fly on his own. 2008 - Paul celebrated his 20th year in the flying industry! He had now choreographed over 300 productions of Peter Pan in 8 different countries and numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including such favorites as Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof, and Curtains. 2010 - Glenn Casale approached Paul to discuss a reimagined production of Disney's The Little Mermaid. He wanted to add the effect of simulated swimming to the mermaids to make them look more realistic as they swam underwater. The show opened in 2011 in Holland. Due to its success, another production opened in Moscow six months later. (Currently there are two productions running in Japan.) 2013 - The Light Princess 2016 - Tuacahn Ampitheatre
Paul Rubin flew in to speak to Wyatt about his work on Broadway, across the country, and around the world. Widely regard as the best in the business Paul has flown Peter Pans, "Wicked" witches, Mermaids, and more. He shares the story of his start as a magician and he and Wyatt get into some favorite myth mashups, how mishaps are less funny when people are flying, and a SUPER SECRET "Thank You, Five" exclusive about a lifetime achievement award being given to a certain supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Nun who hung out in Camelot... It's Julie Andrews y'all. Paul choreographed a flight sequence where a performer dressed as Mary Poppins will present Julie Andrews her lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute. No big deal. But you did hear it here first!!Check out ALL his stuff at www.theflyguy.com
In this episode we talk to The Fly Guy. If you ever wondered who is the person who makes Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, & spider man soar across the stage and many others, Paul is the guy. He has toured across the world working in amazing stage productions and creating magic. He is even responsible for making magicians fly although due to secrecy agreements he isn't able to say. This was a really fun episode that will get you thinking about different theatrical performers and those who work behind the scenes. Wesiseli.com Patreon.com/wes_iseli

This week's episode is an amazing chat with serial entrepreneur Rachel Graham, about finding love & purpose after betrayal. She's so relatable, you'll want to listen to every word. She will help you to see that we ALL have a role in betrayal, and how to step out of the 'drama triangle.' Here are just a few gems that you will here in this episode: *The darkest moment where Rachel found her purpose, while her house was flooding *What HER contribution was (in her own words) to the betrayal she experienced. *How she broke free of the victim mentality, and how we can ALL do that. *How to find the 'meaning' in any mess that's presented to you *How you can be the 'lotus flower in the muck' *Why you can't go around the pain *Why her boyfriend told her she's like Rapunzel (and you'll ALL relate to this) *How to live your life through 'scars' and not 'open wounds.' *Why most relationships have a shelf life (and what to do at that point) *Her definition of rejection -- it's protection and redirection *How she found love and is SO happy now (YAY)!! *The Drama Triangle vs. The Empowerment Dynamic" - and how to switch from drama to empowerment To see photos of Rachel and her "Fly Guy" and the "Drama vs. Empowerment Triangles" as we promised in the episode, click here!! https://www.smartdatingacademy.com/success-stories/rachel-graham Here's a link to get date coaching from Smart Dating Academy - www.smartdatingacademy.com To hear live advice, monthly, on Bela's Instagram Live show - www.instagram.com/smartdatingacademy

Welcome to Embers and Wind! While most people remember where they were on 9/11, Guest Mark Pillar recounts his vivid memory being engaged in a Strategic Command simulated exercise, under the direction of Admiral Mies, when Admiral Mies canceled the exercise to respond to the attack on the World Trade Center: “Being a pilot, I mean there's not a cloud in the sky. And so you'd think that maybe… Certainly air traffic control would not have vectored this airplane into the tower. Probably the guy had a heart attack or something like that and hit it inadvertently. And at the time we didn't know what kind of airplane it was. We thought it was maybe a private airplane, a small Cessna or something like that. And so as we were watching the first tower burn, we saw the second airplane which obviously was a commercial jetliner, we saw that go right into the building and the fire shoot out the other end. And that changed everything. And Admiral Mies turned and said ‘That's no accident! We're under attack. Send a message, messages out to cancel the exercise, and we'll go into real world operations.'” I'm your host, Keith Weedman. In each podcast episode, you will hear stories. These stories will feel like a tender wind blowing on the embers of service that glow within you. In this weekly show, you will learn ideas, kindling for your embers. It will be your choice to utilize the gentle wind to ignite the kindling. Born Rahsaan Alexander, DJ Fly Guy began his life in Georgetown, Guyana, before moving to Brooklyn, NY, and then finally Miami, FL. Rashaan had what felt like regular life growing up, being raised in a typical two-parent household until his father tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer when he was only 15 years old. Despite the devastation caused by the personal tragedy, a young Rashaan never wavered, developing a passion for creating, a passion he said was inspired by his two older brothers that he was fortunate enough to watch as they got involved in hip-hop culture as DJ's, rappers, and journalists, and have massive success in their respective paths. Paired with the fact that from 10 years old, he knew he wanted to be the type of person that had entertained those around him, a realization he made in 5th grade when a teacher pointed out his talent for storytelling and invited him to share a story with the class, it seemed Rashaan was destined to channel his inner passion for creating and share the results with the world. Being a story of surviving in real-time, the artbook and exhibit duo aims to represent the willingness and courage it takes to adapt and figure out what's next for one's life. To many, the pandemic has shown that life can throw curveballs at you, and you have a choice of either letting it break you down or shoulder it and power through. To Rashaan, the pandemic shook the powder keg of mental health, testing each of us and either making or breaking us, claiming to know that it had broken some people that he knew. Losing everything even brought Rashaan into a deep depression, one that he swore he wouldn't let destroy him. Immediately his focus shifted, keeping true to his passion for creating and revisiting a love for photography, a love that began in high school with the movie Love Jones. Rashaan describes the process as therapeutic for him, helping him find his way during this dark time. Rashaan's life has been devastated by the coronavirus, much like many other Americans. With the pandemic closing down the nightlife scene, for over a year due to COVID, Rashaan could no longer be DJ Fly Guy, and without his job, the harsh realities of figuring out how he was going to pay his rent or continue to live on began to loom over his head. Even with that immense pressure, Rashaan remains optimistic and confident that his book "To Miami with Love" is just the beginning. Rahsaan “DJ Fly Guy” Alexander is an advocate for mental health, and he understands that this year is unique, serving as rugged terrain for many of the people still trying to find their way along their path as the pandemic still stretches on. With that in mind, he aspires to help those people find their way as a light in the darkness. He hopes to help those who are lost or struggling to find their purpose, and it all starts and is developed in his "To Miami with Love.” Tune in for this conversation on finding the courage to follow your passion and jump! 2:00 dealing with pandemic as DJ 7:26 how I protected my mental health during COVID 8:40 desire to dive into photography 13:30 books sold out 3 times 15:55 trusting the process of life 28:00 what's the future look like Tell and Tell Secrets: I am a really good billiard pool player.
