Opening Banter Recap: The initial banter in episode 294 of the Rich Show involved some technical difficulties with an echo and microphone adjustments, before moving into more casual topics. The hosts discussed Randy's weight loss journey, noting he was down to 401 pounds from a higher weight, and his struggles with eating habits, including a Domino's pizza, and quitting weed. Ray then launched into a rant about a frustrating Chick-fil-A drive-thru experience, describing its convoluted chain system and lack of clear directions, contrasting it with his knowledge of In-N-Out Burger's efficient drive-thru. The conversation also touched on the solar phenomenon of Lahaina Noon, where shadows disappear, a found fully loaded 9mm magazine after a party, opinions on the Signal app and government technology in light of a recent "debacle", an anecdote about a persistent phone call with a collections agent, and a humorous story about a five-year-old son getting banned from Roblox for calling someone a "stupid face". Thinking with your Dickman: Robot vacuum attacking fancy coffee table: Jada from Jacksonville wrote in about her robot vacuum repeatedly hitting her designer coffee table. The hosts offered sarcastic solutions, such as suspending the table from the ceiling. Yoga pants with bad branding: Jackson of Juno complained about a prominent logo on his designer yoga leggings turning his practice into a marketing spectacle. The hosts were critical of the verbose email and the prevalence of large logos on clothing. Someone has Slimy Poop: Jeremy sent a brief email stating, "Dear TRDS, my poop is slimy. Please help with love, Jeremy". The hosts reacted with immediate dismissal and moved on. Cody Reads Copy about Golf Clubs: Cody read an advertisement for Callaway's XR package set, humorously describing it as the "golfing equivalent of training wheels" and noting its oversized driver head and Odyssey putter. This led to a discussion about golf, including the meaning of a triple bogey, Ray's golf simulator and his impressive virtual score of 62, and Ray's anecdote about an attractive beverage cart attendant. Dick of the Week: Mega Church Pastor doing bad stuff to kids: Cody reported on a former Texas mega-church pastor indicted in Oklahoma on child sexual abuse charges. The hosts discussed the serious nature of the allegations with dark humor and cynicism. Pringles can attack: The hosts covered a news story about a Florida woman, Shenica Sardal, accused of slicing a man's face with a Pringles can at a 7-Eleven. They made light of the unusual weapon and the circumstances. Lauren Boebert calls Al Greene's Pimp cane: The segment included a discussion about Representative Lauren Bobbert's controversial remark referring to Democratic Representative Al Green's cane as a "pimp cane". The hosts debated the connotations of the term and the political figures involved. Ultimately, the interns were named as the "Dick of the Week" for presenting poorly condensed listener emails. Dickman Dilemma: 1 million dollars for a lobotomy: The hosts considered the scenario of receiving $1 million for a live-streamed lobotomy while retaining their personality but losing random memories. Randy and Ray expressed reluctance due to the value of their memories, especially as they've gotten older. The history and gruesome details of lobotomies were also briefly discussed. Steal 10 million from a Clown Mafia and get chased by them: The hosts debated whether to take $10 million knowing they would be perpetually pursued by 20 clowns in a tiny car. They discussed potential strategies for defense and escape, with violent solutions being humorously considered. Free buffet for life but your nose grows with each bite: The hosts considered the offer of unlimited free buffets with the consequence of their nose growing half a millimeter per bite. Cody cleverly suggested consuming food without biting, such as smoothies or swallowing whole. What Would Jesus Draw - Doing a government cover up: The theme for this week's "What Would Jesus Draw" was "Jesus doing a government cover up". The hosts presented their prompts for AI image generation: Cody: Jesus Christ of Nazareth as a government official in a black suit laughing at Waco officers getting hurt. Rem: Jesus Christ of Nazareth wearing a formal suit made of his traditional vestments, standing inside Area 51, pointing and laughing at a crashed unidentified flying object. Randy: Jesus Christ of Nazareth using a neuralizer on a group of Asian immigrants on a double-decker tour bus in England during snow. Ray: JCON as a Secret Service agent tucking Joe Biden into bed while a presidential speech plays on TV. After describing the generated images, Ray's prompt was chosen as the winner. The hosts briefly discussed future themes and related ideas, such as a Jesus self-help book titled "The Passion of the Me" or "Crucifixed". End Banter: The hosts thanked the audience for listening and shared their social media handles. They mentioned that they were recording a second episode immediately after this one to make up for missing the previous week.

On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we discuss one of the all-time greats of comedy, Eddie Murphy. This New York native had a meteoric rise to fame in the early 1980s, and it led to a legendary run on Saturday Night Live and a stream of films such as the standup classics Delirious and Raw. With classics like 48 Hours, Golden Child, Coming to America, and Beverly Hills Cop under his belt, he became one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and for good reason. He started as a smart but unique child in Brooklyn. While his brother, Charlie Murphy, would be outside playing all day, Eddie would spend the time watching TV and perfecting his voices and impressions. Murphy’s parents split when he was three, and his father was murdered by his girlfriend when he was 8. In spite of it all, he was a well-adjusted, funny, confident child. In high school, he led a talent show and got huge laughs doing an impression of Al Greene, and from that moment, he knew he wanted to be a comedian. He started working comedy clubs at the tender age of 15, and honed his craft through graduation and even a brief stint in college. He lied and said he was a disciple of Richard Pryor in order to get some traction in the clubs, and it seemed to work. At only 19 years old, he got hired by Lorne Michaels on Saturday Night Live, and his second season, he exploded. His bits like Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood, Tyrone Greene, and James Brown made ratings soar. He soon signed to his first movie, 48 Hours, and then Trading Places. They proved very successful, and he signed for a $25 million dollar movie deal, and the era of Eddie was upon us. He released hit after hit, comedy classics someone is lucky to pull off once, let alone several in a row. His fame rose, and he won a Grammy for his comedy album, and even his music reached number two on the Billboard charts. Of course, there were ups and downs, like the time he got pulled over with a transvestite hooker in his car and having won three Razzie awards for the period in time when he was just phoning in bad movies. But with hits like Shrek and the newer work like Dreamgirls and They Call me Dolomite, his star has started to shine again. Let’s hope he does more standup, and does it soon! Jonathan Hood reflects on the passing of Memphis/NWA wrestling legend, Eddie Marlin. You will hear from his dear friend, Randy Hales, longtime Memphis wrestling promoter, Jim Cornette, pro wrestling manager/promoter/podcaster and more. One of the greatest babyfaces in the history of Tennessee wrestling, Eddie Marlin, died today, just days after his 89th birthday. He was one of the few to say that he sold out the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis -- and in the match, he and Al Greene essentially worked a front facelock for 55 minutes. Marlin described the sellout bout a few years back on an podcast of Booking Memphis Wrestling with Jerry Jarrett. "I was in there with Al and and Al got a front facelock on me, and somehow, one way or another, when he did, I bit my lip and it started bleeding, bleeding pretty good. And the people thought that from that front facelock that it was coming from my throat -- and I mean, them people, they really, really got feeling sorry for me," recalled Marlin. "And we worked that front facelock, it seemed like forever, because the people just kept standing and standing and standing, and finally he backed me into the corner, and when he stepped back, I fell down and that was our call then, a small package, or jackknife, and I pinned him one, two three, and that Coliseum went wild along with me." Jarrett, who was Marlin's son-in-law, raved about the bout. "Eddie and Al were so good that they worked one hold for about 55 minutes. I was afraid the time limit was going to run out on them because we set it up that Al would give Eddie a pretty good beating and Eddie would sneak a win in. It was just an amazing match to me, that somebody could keep the fans' interest for 55 minutes, with one hold. It was amazing." It worked because the fans believed in Marlin, who was not huge, at roughly 6-foot, 200 pounds, and wasn't in especially awe-inspiring shape. "Eddie was a really, really good babyface. The fans loved him and took to him, whatever situation you put him in," said Jarrett. And there was little ego there either, even if Billy Spears once spray-painted "Big Shot" on Marlin's car. Eddie Marlin was born August 13, 1930, to Eddie and Annie Mai Marlin, in Nashville. His siblings included sisters Anna and Peggy, and a brother, Thomas, who also got into the wrestling business. In a 1979 interview in the TNT Power newsletter published by Terry Justice, Marlin recalled breaking into the business in the early 1950s. "The way I got started, I was working in Nashville and met some wrestlers at the 'Y' and worked out with them. One night [promoter[ Nick Gulas was running a spot show in Alabama and one of the wrestlers didn't show up, so I took his place. I had been going to matches all my life," he explained. The legendary Jackie Fargo saw something in Marlin. Early in his career, Marlin lost to Fargo, and Fargo called promoter Nick Gulas and said, "Eddie's a pretty good hand. Why don't you help him out some?" Much of Marlin's success came in tag teams, and he won belts in Arkansas and Kentucky, as well as his home state. Los Angeles native Krish Sharma (Producer, Mixer, Engineer) brings his own unique mix of skills and energy into the studio. in 2010 Krish won a Grammy award for mixing Ziggy Marley’s "Family Time". A career highlight for many, the Grammy was a portent for more exciting developments over the past years in Krish' already respected professional career. He produced and mixed Warner Brothers' Autozamm album that hit #1 in New Zealand. He was also in the studio with the Rolling Stones engineering the previously uncompleted and never-before-heard bonus tracks on the highly anticipated May, 2010 re-release of "Exile on Main Street (Rarities Edition)" as well as for the subsequent re-release of “Some Girls” that have both charted to much acclaim domestically and globally. His work on Exile and Some Girl’s Rarities is a natural and deserved followup to his prior engineering and mixing of the Stones' album "A Bigger Bang" (Virgin), which itself has been hailed as "a worthy successor to their masterworks" by Rolling Stone magazine. A true artist of exceptional scope, Krish' has also collaborated with such innovative musicians as Perry Farrell (appearing as producer and musician on Perry's "Songs Yet to Be Sung" album) and System of a Down's lead singer Serj Tankian, as well as musical legends as diverse and artistically ground-breaking as Al Greene, Johnny Mathis, and Brian Wilson. A further sampling of his credits features work with Kris Kristofferson, The Cult, Poison, Amos Lee, Counting Crows, Supreme Beings of Leisure, Liz Phair, and Hilary Duff, and just further reinforces Krish' unique talents and broad musical range. Krish's experience also extends to work with many overseas artists such as Italy's Zucchero and extensive work in Japan with Avex Trax and artists such as Hide (X Japan) and the critically acclaimed Oblivion Dust. Krish has also produced South Korea’s Luna, a critical and digital success and helmed blues up-and-comer Hamish Anderson’s US debut which was released as Hamish toured with the late B. B. King as the opening act. He produced Blackcowboy’s beautiful “Come On” which featured Gisele Bunchen in it’s extremely popular video. Krish has also branched out as host and judge on Gimme the Gig along with longtime friend and partner Don Was and is currently a producer on the exciting new biopic of Alan Lomax which he is developing along with the producers of last year’s “Get on Up”.
