Originally scheduled for October 20th, the trial has been postponed due to a jail attack on Brian Walshe and a subsequent order for a mental health competency evaluation. The defense is still fighting to obtain "Proctor text messages," which are crucial for discovery. The prosecution plans to present evidence suggesting Brian Walshe knew about his wife's extramarital affair prior to her disappearance, and that a private investigator was hired to look into her infidelity. There's interest in Brian Walshe's prior federal art fraud case and its potential connection to money laundering, and whether it was a "tipping point" in the current case. While the trial is expected to be delayed for several months, it is anticipated that Brian Walshe will eventually be found competent to stand trial, as the bar for competency is "incredibly low." Brian Walsh is a Certified Financial Planner, and holds a PhD from the Personal Financial Planning program at Kansas State University.
