Energetic, raw, honest, and heart on the sleeve punk rock, Brutal Youth have been causing a ruckus for the last 10+ years. Singer Patty O'Lantern, drummer Dustin Campbell, bassist Kyle Hynes, and guitarist Greg Hounsel formed the band in 2010. The band hit the ground running and recorded their first brutally fantastic album, "Spill Your Guts". Shortly thereafter the group uprooted themselves from their hometown of St. John's, NL and moved to Toronto. After settling into their new digs, Brutal Youth gained attention with their lightning-fast sets and blood-soaked high-intensity performances. A long list of records and touring ensued while the band honed their craft and caught the attention of various record labels. Stomp Records is proud to present their most current longplayer Rebuilding Year on beautiful blue marble vinyl. Keep an eye out for this punk rock tornado with a deluge of live shows planned for 2023.   D I S C O V E R Twitter: https://twitter.com/brutalyouth709 Bandcamp: https://brutalyouth.bandcamp.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brutalyouth709 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brutalyouth/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5BJrQw60XksRtVfwNVFu0W?si=MiXfnm_DT-udaX0zJxHIIg Brought to you by AIXdspShop now and get up to 50% off on all plugins.Website: HEREPledge monthly with Patreon https://www.patreon.com/apologueShop Apologue products at http://apologue.ca/shop

But she knows that a man can't be a man Unless he's punishing his secretary He sips in the glow of a '61 vintage Just as the day is dimming With every intention of surrendering To fifty-foot women Who put the fascination back into my science fiction twin My science fiction twin Decided to become invisible He has my eyes, my face, my voice But he's only happy when I'm miserable The words flew from his mouth And they were gently gathered by reporters Trying to frame his once infamous flame With tattered pictures of her daughter "Her hair is all made out of porcupine Her figure is fantastic" But as you know, they corrupted her So they're being sarcastic To put the fascination back into my science fiction twin He'll scream and shout Everything is working out just as he predicted Pride and position in the gallery of attempted people Oh and the pain is so sweet That he'll stamp his little feet And you'll even have time to pity me How can you feel content? You'll wonder where this fellow went My science fiction twin Escorted by his lovely nieces Filled up his purse dictating verse While painting masterpieces His almost universal excellence Is starting to disturb me They asked how in the world he does all these things And he answered "Superbly" He's trapped in his own parallel dimension That's why I'm so forgiving But how could I possibly forget to mention Those fifty-foot women Who put the fascination back into my science fiction twin

Scot and Jeff discuss Elvis Costello (Part 2, from King Of America through to the present day) with Anthony Fisher. Introducing the Band: Your hosts Scot Bertram (@ScotBertram) and Jeff Blehar (@EsotericCD) with guest Anthony Fisher. Anthony is the politics editor for Insider and Business Insider and a producer/co-conspirator for The Fifth Column. You can find him on Twitter at @anthonyLfisher. Anthony's Music Pick: Elvis Costello This week the gang covers the latter-day adventures of Declan Patrick (Aloysius) MacManus, better known to the world as Elvis Costello. This is the era, starting with 1986's King Of America, where Costello conspicuously lost the ability to edit himself, putting out not only a series of extremely lengthy albums but a panoply of side-projects and ambitious cross-genre collaborations taking in everything from string-quartet chamber music to jazz to hip-hop. But for all the ostentatious self-indulgence of logorrhea of EC's later career it's impossible to argue with the results given that many of these records represent his finest work, particularly King Of America, Blood And Chocolate, Brutal Youth, All This Useless Beauty, and The Delivery Man. Have you ever been looking for a Virgil to guide you through the dense morass of Elvis' later career? You'll find three of them here on this episode! Ever wondered why you should bother with albums like the neo-classical The Juliet Letters or (the ridiculously titled) Momofuku? All is explained. Curious as to the best music from Costello's mature period? You will be absolutely stunned by how much fantastic music he put out from 1986 onwards, and still is to the present day. Come join us at the other end of the telescope as we finish our tribute to one of the finest songwriters of the past 50 years.
