Hey, my friend! Let's get real for a minute. Life is hard. It's messy, it's complicated, and sometimes it feels like we're drowning in a sea of grief, shame, and anxiety. But here's the thing: life is also beautiful. It's a crazy, wonderful, "brutiful" journey—as I once heard it said, and we're all in this together. I know what it's like to feel like you're not enough, to carry the weight of your past mistakes, and to wonder if you'll ever find relief from the constant barrage of emotions. As a recovering alcoholic, I've been there. I've hit rock bottom and clawed my way back up. And let me tell you, it's not easy, but it's so worth it. That's why I created The Feel Better Journey. It's a place where we can come together, drop our masks, and be unapologetically ourselves. It's a space where we can ask the hard questions, process our pain, and learn how to ride the waves of life without getting pulled under by the current. Because here's the thing: we're not meant to do this alone. We need each other. We need a community of warriors who understand our struggles and cheer us on as we do the holy and hard work of healing. And that work? It's not about fixing ourselves or striving for perfection. It's about learning to embrace the mess, to find beauty in the brokenness, and to trust that God is with us every step of the way. So, my friend, if you're feeling lost, alone, or overwhelmed, know that you're not the only one. We're all stumbling through this brutiful life together. And when we lean into each other and into God's grace, we find the strength to keep going, to keep growing, and to keep shining our light in a world that so desperately needs it. Because that's what this journey is all about. It's about finding our purpose, even in the midst of the pain. It's about learning to love ourselves and others fiercely and unapologetically. The Jesus way. It's about being brave enough to show up, to speak our truth, and to trust that we are exactly where we're meant to be. So, my friend, take a deep breath. You've got this. We've got this. And together, we'll keep walking through the mess and the magic, one brutiful step at a time. Here's your invitation to join us today inside The Feel Better Journey. Remember to use code "EARLYBIRD24" for all the bonuses!
Humans make mistakes! It's just one of the undeniable truths about being humans. Sometimes they're big mistakes, sometimes they're small, but whatever the case, shame is a dark and moist bedfellow (ew!) of those mistakes, and in this episode, Dr Andrea Hollingsworth (www.hollingsworthconsulting.com) and I talk about how to own up to your mistakes, and how to move through them with strength and compassion for the damage we may have done, and compassion for ourselves as we recover from those mistakes and learn and grow from them so we don't repeat unhealthy and destructive patterns. We talk aboutWeak times that lead to weak responsesHow embracing the “Brutiful truth” (thank you Rachel Hollis) can help you build self compassionThe 3 level structure of her self-compassion scaffoldParenting, and how great intent can turn into another mistake we need to recover from Want more from Dr Andrea Hollinsworth? My 3rd mix for the month of April 2023. Ol' TS called April the cruelest month, but I think life is "BRUTIFUL" beautiful and brutal. So this mix reflects that. Thank you Tampa/St. Pete for the inspiration. See you at the bucket thing Sunday, Mr. Creosote!
My SECOND mix for the month of April 2023. Ol' TS called April the cruelest month, but I think life is "BRUTIFUL" beautiful and brutal. So this mix reflects that. It also reflects a new chapter and new direction. Twelve mixes a year, three hours each.
SPRING COLLECTION APRIL 2023. Let's start with a good hat. Why don't you Diana Vreeland? Ol' TS called April the cruelest month, but I think life is "BRUTIFUL" beautiful and brutal and this mix reflects that. Something a little sexy, more flirty than dirty. With a liberal sprinkling of metal filings darling because Mama loves a gritty layer to chew on. This is me. I love churchy gospel, but I love something more too. Of all the mixes I've done HH is the one most me. Which if you know HouseOfNae at all, means a great deal. Pretty damn proud of it in other words so I hope you'll give it a listen. You might even hear a few familiar beats ;) Homburg Hidalgo also marks a new chapter and new direction. Three hours of music a month, 88 songs approximately, that I will mix, spin, layer, rotate, match, rotate and blend into a different sauce every week. 88 songs to do the same to you. Sure hope I get to spin these hours somewhere live soon. Maybe I'll go camping ;)

Dr. Rachel Smartt on the Brutiful Journey Dr. Rachel Smartt is a naturopathic doctor as well as a Presidential Marketing Director (75 Club) with The Juice Plus+ Company. Dr. Smartt's journey is, as she describes it, “brutiful.” It has been both brutal and beautiful. As you listen to this conversation, you will be taking note after note. Dr. Smartt makes it clear that she doesn't just happen to be better than most at what she does, she has worked hard to become one of the best at what she does. And key to her effort is that she is very strategic about equipping herself with the tools needed to succeed. Many people question, “If I am working so hard, why am I not experiencing more success?” Dr. Smartt helps us understand that effort alone will not get us where we want to go. We have to be willing to examine ourselves in order to identify where we need to improve and then we need to find or develop the tools that cause us to go from good to great. Ultimately, though, Dr. Smartt's story and her advice are all about perseverance, staying positive through some of the most challenging seasons of life, and seeing the beauty even in the brutal so that everything can become your unique way to help others. In this episode, I sit down with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Janelle Nelson. Janelle and I explore both the brutal and beautiful experiences of intimate partner relationships. We discuss the need to deconstruct the shame that is often experienced within marital and intimate partner struggles, and offer ideas of how couples can transform through connection. We discuss how it can take courage to stay in a relationship and work on it, and it can also take courage to leave when that is being called for.
