Artist and curator Amilcar Packer unpacks ideas of decolonisation and anti-colonialism in education, thinking through the works of Ailton Krenak, a leading activist in the Brazilian indigenous movement. Born in Santiago de Chile, and based in São Paulo, Brazil since the 1980s, artist and curator Amilcar Packer locates his life and work ‘between' the Pacific and Atlantic. An organiser and participant in Episode 11: To End The World As We Know It, five days of revolutionary art, discussions and performances at Tramway in Glasgow, run by Edinburgh-based collective, Arika, he explains the personal connections between South America and Scotland. Amilcar shares the work of Ailton Krenak, a leading anti-colonial activist in the Brazilian indigenous movement, who joins the programme along with transnational thinkers like Denise Ferreira Da Silva, Geni Núñez, and Françoise Vergès. We discuss his practice in popular culture, including literature and radio, and environmental activism, ‘one of the knots in a net' of entangled liberation movements. Drawing on these contemporary thinkers, Amilcar talks about time as a colonial, imperial, and capitalist construct. We consider the temporal othering of indigenous and aboriginal identities in different contexts, from the reclamation of the Americas as Turtle Island, to Karrabing Film Collective from Arson Bay, Darwin, Australia, and their presentation of The Ancestral Present - connecting with Ailton's 2022 book, Ancestral Futures. Challenging the monoculture of Western/European thought - and simplistic understandings of religion and spirituality, sexuality, and gender, which often lack relevance or utility with respect to indigenous worldviews.- Amilcar instead talks about cosmology. We discuss the ‘human archive' of violence and brutality, and ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Palestine, and over the definition of land rights. Amilcar shares where assimilation, making indigenous people Brazilians, has been used to ensure indigenous people lose their relations with their land, which makes it easier to dispossess. We consider whether the decolonisation of institutions like museums or universities is possible, and consider a plurality of approaches to study, learning, and education. Referencing thinkers like Fred Moten, Stefano Harney, we discuss the importance of multiplicity - of constructing and realising other ways of being with the world and each other. Arika Rainville Anointed Gift of Deliverance SHE IS MINE Says the Lord! From living on the streets, homeless and addicted to drugs now completely set free by Jesus, Arika shares powerful testimony, from Red Deer, Alberta. The Holy Spirit has given Arika the gift of deliverance and she shares her own personal story of how Jesus delivered and saved her. She had been living on the streets, homeless, addicted to drugs and suffering in abusive relationships. On Christmas day, Arika was lured to a home, tied to a chair, beaten, assaulted and put in a vehicle by gun point. After crying out to God for help she was dropped off outside of town in -25 Celsius with nothing. She walked to a home and the lady that opened the door was a nurse and took Arika to the Red Deer hospital where she slept for 72 hrs. Later on, it was a prayer by her now husband that he prayed silently over her birthed a POWERFUL encounter with Jesus. She heard Jesus say, "SHE IS MINE, SHE IS MINE". Arika, was miraculously delivered from drugs, no withdrawals, no cravings, healed physically and emotionally. Please share this story with others, the Holy Spirit has placed the gift of deliverance in Arika for many other people to be set free and delivered. Maryland Delegate Lauren Arikan, Republican from District 7 (Baltimore & Harford Counties), joined WMAL's "O'Connor and Company" radio program on Thursday about how ALL of the Republican female lawmakers left the Women Legislators of Maryland after Dems played games with the voting. Del. Arika also gave us an update about Maryland homeschooling legislation (HB 832) that could cause problems for homeschooling families. She is fighting the push in Annapolis to create a committee to "oversee" homeschooling in Maryland  BACKGROUND: What's thought to be the oldest bipartisan legislative women's group in the nation is no more.  All of the Republicans in the  Women Legislators of Maryland have resigned after Democrats skipped past a GOP member who was in line to be the group's next president.  That member - Delegate Lauren Arikan - calls it a great loss.  An informal agreement to allow a GOP member to be president every third year was dashed by Democrats, who outnumber Republican women, 7 to 1 in Annapolis.. For a while I had lost my identity in my role as a mom, as a wife, and as somebody else is employee.  So once I went on the personal journey I was like, hey, you know I can do more than take care of kids. I do that well, right, but I know that I'm called to serve, I know that I'm called to do more. That's what really got me on that on that journey. And then when COVID hit, it's just like, why not take a chance, you know? Why not see? I gotta degree; if all else fails I can go get another job, but I want to pursue my purpose and just go after the more, that I know is out there for me. [00:012:49] I just started looking at God. Like I love you. I trust you. I feel like I'm called to do this for you. So I'ma put it on you. Now I'm gonna take this leap, I'ma try it and then you just you gotta lead me. But I believe when we step out on faith and we try God this is how we put his faithfulness on display. You know this is how we demonstrate our faith in our works. We know faith without works is dead right? And so I was just like, well God got his own reputation to protect; like he good at it. So that was the connection. It was a process, but those that's how I began to really connect from my start to where I am right now. [00:017:55] There's so many things that you feel like, “if I don't do this, it just don't get done.” We have to just accept the fact that everything isn't going to get done, but focus on the very important things because there's always going to be stuff to do. There's always going to be, you know, responsibilities for us to feel, and there's always going to be things to pull us away from our purpose and to pull us away from our calling. So you really have to relinquish control and become unapologetic. You have to really just be relentless in your pursuit if this is something you want; if this is something you know you've been called to do. I mean some stuff just gotta go!
