Charlotte O'Brien is a new author from the Lake District. She is a passionate mental health advocate after experiencing many struggles throughout her entire childhood. After dabbling with self-publishing in early 2022, she is now releasing her debut novel, Stay With Me this May.
We have a first at KKHI as two conservatives are about to have a "spirited disagreement." JOCO commissioner Charlotte O'Hara joins us to talk property taxes, Dems not identifying as Dems on ballots all over the land and hotels being converted to crime infested homeless shelters. But when our convo switches to STAR Bonds in Kansas to lure the Chiefs into a new stadium, fireworks fly. Hang on tight. Before that, we discuss Rashee Rice's latest legal troubles and how the Chiefs just see this like business as usual, the Royals bullpen is a train wreck or this team would be something and Gardner/Edgerton School District is about to take away phones from students. Amen!
In this episode of V-FM Pensions, Nico and Darren chat to the CEO of Pensions for Purpose, Charlotte O'Leary. This episode was recorded on the morning of Jeremy Hunt's 2024 Budget, so we had a bit of speculation, alongside discussion of some of the pre-announced pensions measures. We discussed the gender pensions gap, something Charlotte campaigns passionately about, moves by the Chancellor to force DC schemes to disclose their assets held in the UK and the introduction of Aus-style performance league tables, and the recent investment changes by The People's Pension. We also discuss systems change and whether fiduciary duty hampers Trustees from investing with a purpose. The episode ends on a discussion about fitness where Nico outrageously questions Darren's commitment to the fitness cause (Charlotte is an uber-athlete). But we also talk about the importance of neurodiversity in decision-making and keeping the mind as well as the body fighting fit. A fabulous episode!

You may have always been familiar with turtle doves the same way I was - a childhood song that also references pear trees and partridges.... It may surprise you to know that turtle doves are becoming scarce in the UK. I wanted to know more, so I spoke with Charlotte O'Neill, who is a student in Falmouth in the UK, a dab hand with a camera, and really interested in the wildlife around her... including turtle doves. Hear about the demise, and some of the actions being undertaken to arrest it, and also what it is like in the Doc Martin part of the UK. Some actors love film. Others, TV, but Charlotte's heart is in the Theatre. She loves all the work she has done - you may have seen her on the fantasy Netflix series ‘The Witcher' or ‘Bang' for the BBC - but in her words ‘TV and a film pay for the work you do in the Theatre'. It is the immediate, visceral and ephemeral nature of the theatre which makes it so irresistible for her. Having seen her work on stage I was struck by her immense presence, her intuitive almost musical grasp of timing and her humour. This episode was recorded early in 2021 and so some details about lockdown in England may have changed. Some explicit language throughout.
