Join the fries as they tackle Stargate SG-1 Season 4, Episode 4: Crossroads Katharyn Powers is back in the writer's seat for this one, so buckle up! Angst incoming! From SGCommand Wiki: Shan'auc, one of Teal'c's old flames and priestess of Chulak claims to have taught her symbiote to despise the Goa'uld. The Tok'ra seem convinced of this, but there is still a reasonable amount of doubt from the others. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/3-fries-short/message
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4 episode 4 "Crossroads." The Tok'ra are at it again, the Tok'ra train has totally derailed at this point, even Tegan can't deny it anymore. An old flame from Teal'c's past - Shan'auc - comes to the SGC with a truly unbelievable claim, that she has convinced her goa'uld symbiote to be a Tok'ra. Silvana and Tegan speculate on the status of Teal'c's marriage and question why no one on SG-1 brought any attention to the fact that Teal's is partnered as far as the audience knows. Teal'c is willing to leave the Tauri to help the Jaffa on Chulak, not to start the rebellion Silvana has proposed before, but to embark on a mission of brainwashing goa'uld symbiotes into being good, actually? How shocking that the symbiote (Tanith) was not reformed at all! The death of Shan'auc results since the Tok'ra did nothing to protect her from the very real possibility that Tanith had misled her and meant her harm! Do better, Tok'ra. Silvana and Tegan watch Season 3 Episode 20 "Maternal Instinct" - an episode which is ironically extremely lacking in focus on women. It doesn't even pass the Bechdel test! The SGC get an unexpected visit from Bra'tac and a gravely injured Jaffa reporting that Apophis is back and attacking Chulak looking for the Harsesis child. Luckily Daniel has been keeping his promise to Sha're and looking for Kheb this whole time right? Wrong! We encounter Oma Desala for the first time but she only speaks and acts through a male monk on the planet. Sam Carter is sidelined and Silvana and Tegan rewrite the episode and Sam is now taking a vacation with her girlfriend, Janet Fraiser. This episode could have been so much better if prior seasons had taken the direction of Teal'c and Shak'l forming a rebel alliance together. As it is, Bra'tac is the star of this episode, and Silvana and Tegan wish there had been more exploration of what Kheb means to elderly Jaffa and what's next for Bra'tac. This week we watch Family, aka The Worst Guards Ever. Why is this the first time we try to rescue Teal'c's family? What kind of classes would be taught at the College of Chulak? Would you like a house with secret passages? Teal'c is always 189% sure of his feelings. Even when they change five minutes later. Also, nobody cares that Fro'tak is dead. How's everyone's Vancouver Actor BINGO card going? Anyone have BINGO yet?

And KJ says it is not nearly as disappointing to hear as it was that the original comic run ended.Marvel may have demonstrated a great ability to tie the movie universe and the TV universe together in shows like Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil, but Cloak and Dagger is the exact opposite, and seems to have been a show that was targeted at the non-Marvel superhero market. Not going to be missed, and definitely not missed the same way as ShadowHunters is to this day (cry a tear Lady Archer)On the opposite end of the spectrum though, DC’s Batwoman series is now gearing up for awesomeness! Ruby Rose is really falling into the role, and is amazing in bringing the batwoman from the comics to the screen. Welcome to Warp My Tardis Podcast on the Geek Culturecast network. This episode: KJ, and Chulak talk Disney D23 Conference and the Star Wars announcements. Are you looking for new ideas and adventures for your RPG Group? How about a monthly magazine filled with plot twists, one shots and side quests? Look no further, DM Dave brings you Broadsword magazine. Broadsword is a monthly digital and printed magazine that provides DMs with ideas, tidbits and even complete side quests that can be fit into almost any campaign. Check out Broadswords magazine at http://dmdave.com/broadsword-magazine-preorder-1/KJ and Chulak are back after a quick missed episode/break and there is a ton of news to share about the D23 Conference, especially about Star Wars as two series were announced: The Mandalorian and KenobiThe Mandalorian is about Bounty Hunters, and takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. In the teaser, we see IG-88 and Lando Calrissian among other known figures like storm troopers and rebel fighters. Not a lot is given away in the trailer other than lots of fighting, shooting up Imperials and possibly meeting up with new crime lords. There is a lot of circumstantial footage here. Who is the one under the armor, and why do they want to look like Bobba Fett? The Kenobi series is a greater concern. Taking place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, this series goes through the hidden life of a Jedi on the run. The show looks good, and with Ewan McGregor back in the Obi-Wan role it has the opportunity to be something good. We just hope that they don’t take the story down a path that can’t be recovered from in the world of Star Wars CanonWe didn’t go deeply into the extended teaser trailer for Episode IX, but there is a ton of speculations there too related to the last scene with Rey and her double red sabres. Is this a force dream? A dark path like Luke travelled facing his own Dark Side? Or is this truly Rey’s turn toward a path that she cannot come back from? We will have to wait until December 20 to find out.Thank you for downloading, subscribing, listening and supporting Warp My Tardis here on the Geek Culturecast network. Welcome to Legends of the Panel Podcast on the Geek Culturecast network. On this episode, the whole crew is back and KJ spent four days at Toronto FanExpo. Are you looking for new ideas and adventures for your RPG Group? Broadsword is a monthly digital and printed magazine that provides DMs with ideas, tidbits and even complete sidequests that can be fit into almost any campaign. Check out Broadswords magazine at http://dmdave.com/broadsword-magazine-1-pre-order/This episode is all about conventions… well actually no. This episode is mostly about Sony and Disney. The recent decisions being made by Sony and marvel over the profit sharing and resources of the Spider man movie franchise has many of us shaking our heads. Sony are you looking to be purchased by Disney? Did you not learn anything from Fox Entertainment? Guess not.As Sony fights for the rights of ownership and profit on Tom Holland’s success, and the ability to use Marvel Studios top executive Kevin Feige to act as Executive producer for the next installment of the franchise, we also see that there were no announcements related to the web-head as part of SDCC or this week’s D23 conference. What we did hear about however is more content for Disney+ in the form of Kamila Khan and Ms Marvel, as well as She-Hulk the green lawyer and Moonknight, Marvel’s answer to Bruce Wayne. There was quite a lot of buzz during FanExpo Toronto about these announcements, especially from the artists, writers and creators. Some positive and some pensive.KJ’s convention experience was awesome this year with great feedback going to FanExpo organizers Informa Promotions that the isles felt larger, the booths felt better organized, and the vendors seemed to be much more curated with less duplication other than for comic book sellers.Noted missing booths this year were SPACE channel (Now CTV SCI-FI Channel), and Marvel who did not send a fan experience to Toronto. DC continued to wow us with a selection of the new statues shown at SDCC, including a coveted set of ½ scale cowls (KJ wants Cowl). Also on the booth were the Chrissie Zullo Maquettes for Super Girl, Bat Girl, Wonderwoman, and Hawk Girl. No they were not for sale.Thank you for downloading, subscribing, listening and supporting Legends of the Panel here on the Geek Culturecast network. The increasing world of robotics, integrated AI’s and the possibility of robots with empathy being your perfect partner… in every way. If you act soon you may still be able to be a part of these exciting projects:Chosen – A Sword and Fantasy tribute from the creative mind of Chris Campana. The story follows a young elf named Brynn, who is forced to leave her family and homeland behind, and set off on a quest, so that she may somehow, save those she loves from an evil on the verge of destroying the entire realm. It’s a story of fate… gone wrong?Cozmo's Thirsty Tentacle Bar and Grill is the galaxy's not-so-local watering hole - unless, of course, you live on an asteroid, then it would be a hop and a skip away. Stop by and have a drink with the myriad lifeforms, who have come to party or to wallow in their Rygelian ale. They may become your best buddies, or you may suddenly find your wallet missing. How about a monthly magazine filled with plot twists, one shots and side quests? Look no further, DM Dave brings you Broadsword magazine. Broadsword is a monthly digital and printed magazine that provides DMs with ideas, tidbits and even complete sidequests that can be fit into almost any campaign. Check out Broadswords magazine at http://dmdave.com/broadsword-magazine-1-pre-order/Lady Archer and KJ the Comic Guy are left alone in the studio while Mr. Chulak deals with motor issues, and floating his boat… back to shore. Hoping everything is okay. And of course left to our own devices, talk turned to the recent announcements of creative changes in the executive management at DC Publishing. The appointments and promotions of key individuals to VP Marketing and Creative Services position as well as a new Executive Editor of New Publishing we hope will place DC on the track to recovery in the universe and maybe we can see changes that impact the DCU as well?Once we got the talk of DC out of the way, this led into a long session about comic books, comic stories and in general, how we read our comics today. If you have opinions, we’d love to hear them. Links to all our social media are at the bottom of the notes. We also talked about several Kickstarters either in progress, or delivering. Welcome to Warp My Tardis Podcast on the Geek Culturecast network. This episode: KJ, and Chulak talk about all things Sci-Fi from SDCC 2019.Are you looking for new ideas and adventures for your RPG Group? How about a monthly magazine filled with plot twists, one shots and side quests? Look no further, DM Dave brings you Broadsword magazine. Broadsword is a monthly digital and printed magazine that provides DMs with ideas, tidbits and even complete side quests that can be fit into almost any campaign. Check out Broadswords magazine at http://dmdave.com/broadsword-magazine-preorder-1/On Legends of the Panel last week (Season 5, episode 14) we talked about the Comic Book announcements from San Diego ComicCon 2019. This week we address the SciFi announcements.Let’s start with Fox and the announcement that The Orville, the Seth Macfarlane Sci-Fi show paying homage to classic Star Trek: The Next Generation, will be moving from Fox Television to Hulu for season 3. Macfarlane made the announcement that due to other commitments, that to provide the show with the integrity that he wants, that Hulu makes more sense as a delivery method. No mention was made for international audiences on how the move to Hulu will affect them. KJ hopes that CRAVE TV will continue to host HULU content in Canada.CBS All Access hosted several events including two specific Star Trek announcements. One being the launch of Season 3 for STD… I mean Star Trek; Discovery. Now having followed the Red Angel 700 years into the future, we really don’t know what we are going to get with STD. New characters are coming onto the cast, but we are really left with the unknown a as the antique Discovery needs to find its place in what may be a dystopian future… or maybe not. What we do know is that they are indeed in the PICARD timeline.Speaking of Picard, the full trailer for the new Star Trek: Picard series looked fantastic. A combination of shows like Dark matter, Deep Six and FarScape as well as the traditional Star trek universe, and we now know at least 4 characters we love from the original TNG. Ryker and Troi are still matrimonius (is that a real word?) as well we now know that Commander Data and Seven of Nine have made their way to the new future. We can’t wait until late 2020 for this one. Also on the show we talked about several KickStarter Projects. It’s a story of fate… gone wrong?EVERGLADE ANGELS - a graphic novel from Scott Lobdell writer of Marvel's X-MEN, and the writer & creator of HAPPY DEATH DAY, co-created by Blake Northcott international bestselling author of ARENA MODE and THE NORTH VALLEY GRIMOIRE with artwork by Roc Upchurch, the co-creator and artist of RAT QUEENS (the Eisner and Hugo nominated Image Comic series that won a GLAAD Media Award in 2015).Trial by Trolley – a Game from the creators of Cyanide and Happiness web comic, where two teams create moral dilemmas, sabotage each other and then, make a decision on who gets run over by Trolley Tom. Redistribution of Legends of the PanelWelcome to Season 5 episode 3 of Legends of the Panel Podcast, Hosted by Mr. Chulak, KJ The Comic Guy and The Lady Archer. On this episode we are missing a Chulak as he prepares for an out of state wedding, so KJ and the Lady Archer are back at it again! After talking about the many movie trailers that were part of that major sporting event where New England and Los Angeles didn't decide to do anything until the last 15 minutes (Yup that's right KJ who writes these notes just blasted the NFL), there was no real consensus on movies that anyone really must see based on the trailers. Everyone knows that Captain Marvel is only a few weeks away, that followed pretty closely by Avengers Endgame. These are both highly anticipated comic book movies, and KJ is still excited about Captain Marvel. Unfortunately not so much for DC's Shazam! What does look good is DC Unlimited and their new Doom Patrol series. This is a resurgence of Brenden Frasier in a pivotal role as Steel. Veteran action star and fan favorite Timothy Dalton as Chief is a great separation for Dalton from recent more "Baddy" roles. Even Cyborg gets a pass in this serial adaptation of the DC Comic series.Thank you for downloading, subscribing, listening and supporting Legends of the Panel here on the Geek Culturecast network. Redistribution of Warp My TardisWelcome to Season 4 of WarpMyTardis Podcast, Hosted by KJ The Comic Guy and Mr Chulak. On this episode your hosts talk about the hiatus of the last month, and then break right into the new seasons of Seth MacFarlane's The Orville, and the CBS Series, Star Trek: Discovery. At the end of the show, Mr Chulak gives his first impressions of the new Roswell Show on the CW Network. After the usual catch up and banter between your hosts, KJ and Chulak got right into their very enthusiastic reviews of The Orville. So far this season does not disappoint, with episodes that are mildly reminiscent of The Next Generation. We have also seen the first departure of one main character from the show as Lt. Alara Katan played by Halston Sage returns to her home planet Xelayah. This episode ending reminds KJ very much of the loss of Tasha Yar on Next Gen, or Wesley Crusher going off to Starfleet Academy. Both hosts give The Orville ratings in the mid to high 8's There is much to look forward to with this series.CBS All Access brought back the mid-season Star Trek Discovery in January, and the new Captain doesn't disappoint, nor does the existing cast and level of drama and action. Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike is a welcome addition to the shows cast, and we see a great deal of new development for a number of the cast including Doug Jones and Saru, Mary Wiseman as Lt. Tilly, and Sonequa Martin-Green as Micheal Burnham. The show is dealing with the Prime Directive, General Order 1 and Spock in a psychiatric ward, just to name the goings on in the first episode.Definite 9 ratings for this one.In an interesting comparison KJ and Chulak discuss the differences between these two series and why the two of them work so well for viewing audiences, from technology, grit and charisma, to story writing and our interpretation of what each of these series should be. Orville bringing an episodic story with each one being self-contained, versus Discovery with the overarching idea that there is a major story that we will get through, its just going to take the whole season.Mr. Chulak closed the show with a brief overview of the CW's Roswell New Mexico, a time-jump story of the original characters from the Roswell TV series back in the 90's. And sometimes the 90's should just be left alone. The show has moments of brilliant Sci-Fi ideas, but is just too dramatic and Soap-Opera like.Thank you for downloading, subscribing, listening and supporting WarpMyTardis here on the Geek Culturecast network. The costume leaks for Season 5 of Supergirl and Season 6 of The Flash look amazing as Kara Danvers finally gets to wear the pants! (Amazing suit very much tied to the rest of the DC universe). On a sad note there were many moments of memories and fond wishes as Arrow went to their last Hall H panel. Steven Amell is bringing us the best Oliver Queen that he can in the final season. Moving on to Marvel and an outstanding Hall H, Marvel’s Kevin Faige introduced the 90-minute panel session that included almost all of our favorite Marvel personalities. Both the Disney+ streaming programs as well as standard theatrical release productions were hyped in this amazing panel session. Particularly we are all looking forward to Black Widow, and the Doc Strange II films. Disney/Marvel television will be amazing; however, it was shortly before the Hall H extravaganza that ABC and Marvel did announce the end of Agents of Shield. Welcome to WarpMyTradis Podcast on the Geek Culturecast network. This episode: KJ and Chulak talk about Stranger Things and all things 80’s.Are you looking for new ideas and adventures for your RPG Group? How about a monthly magazine filled with plot twists, one shots and side quests? Look no further, DM Dave brings you Broadsword magazine. Broadsword is a monthly digital and printed magazine that provides DMs with ideas, tidbits and even complete sidequests that can be fit into almost any campaign. Check out Broadswords magazine at http://dmdave.com/broadsword-magazine-preorder-1/Right off the start, KJ is a child of the 70’s. So for alignment sake, the age of the kids in Stranger Things give or take a year aligns with KJ when he was growing up. That said KJ is far too analytical! Stranger Things is a beloved franchise adored by Gen Y and Millennials everywhere. The story is a combination (very lightly described) as X-Files meets the Goonies.Cinematically this program can go up against some great David Lynch programs including Twin Peaks or X-Files. If it gritty, and very well produced. The lighting and locations lend a lot to the drama of the series. The casting is perfect with Winona Ryder, David Harbour and Matt Modine as veteran performers. Bring this together with a likeable cast of young stars and it is a formula for success. Now if only we could get KJ past his own preconceived issues with the 80’s.Where most series on TV today move too quickly and don’t do a fantastic job of developing character relationships that are believable or that define the cast into archetypes, Stranger Things takes a more laid back approach, which throws KJ for a loop. The slow pacing with lots of time to build the characters is such a departure from 90% of the industry, that this completely threw KJ off.On our own rating scale, Chulak gives the first season of Stranger Things an 8.5 with season 2 and 3 both at 8.75. KJ has agreed to go back and try again to give this show a chance and not be so judgemental.
