For this episode, Yvonne is joined by former professional rugby player and founder of the nutrition firm Whole Supp, Darren O'Reilly. Darren combined his experience of the positive impact good nutrition has on performance with Dr Brian Carson´s physiology knowledge to create a super easy to prepare supplement that provides great fuel for busy, always on the go people. He and Yvonne discuss his journey, and the role having a North Star and manifestation techniques played in enabling him to stay the course to bring his innovative Whole Supp product to market. They also talk about branding, growth, personal development, and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Having a North Star drives you forward regardless of what you are aiming for. Pay attention to the details, but don´t let perfectionism get in your way. If you are struggling to perfect something, keep going, you are closer than you think. Don´t waste energy getting upset about people competing with you, there is room for everyone. Own your mistakes. Accept that you have made them and learn from them. Extreme ownership is a habit anyone can build. Keeping in touch with what your product is going to do for your customers is a huge motivator. People have to trust you, to buy from you. The best way to build that trust is to be honest, authentic and most importantly create a highly effective product. You can reach a lot of people via social media, but your message will not resonate unless you already know your customers really well. Meeting your customers face to face is the best way to understand them. Face to face contact moves the needle, it is great for your brand and creates highly effective marketing material. Don´t be too rigid about your business plan. Often, business opportunities you never thought of will turn out to generate the most profit. Create positive habits for yourself. Build them into your day. BEST MOMENTS “So, everything in our product has a meaningful impact on the body.” “Choosing a manufacturer is a really difficult thing. It's almost like dating. You kiss a lot of frogs before you find the right one.” “It´s more important to fail but learn from it, than not try.” “Real connections with real people with real customers moves the needle, and that kind of has a multiplier effect.” “When you open yourself up for criticism, you learn so much.” "If your foundations are strong, your potential is unlimited. We're able to help people with just getting that nutritional foundation when they're busy." “if you're curious enough and humble enough to listen, you're gonna learn a lot.” “Visualising - see it all the time. That actually does pay off.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://www.linkedin.com/in/darren-o-reilly-b8924724 https://wholesupp.com VALUABLE RESOURCES website: pausepenny.com Instagram: @yvonnetchrakian_manifest @pause.penny LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvonne-tchrakian-64257619/ HOST BIO Yvonne started her career as a corporate lawyer for one of Ireland's top law firms. Darren O'Reilly is an understated gent who has taken the nutrition industry by storm having created a nutritionally complete product called Whole Supp. Darren founded the brand with Dr. Brian Carson who is one of the leading nutritional scientist and they have created a phenomenal product. Segway: Anyone who wants to enjoy a special discount of the product, Darren has graciously provided a discount code 'whatmakesyoutick' all lower case. Head to WholeSupp.com and enjoy the results yourselves. After inviting Darren to join me on a 10 week challenge where I set myself a goal to lose 10kg in 10 weeks I ask the team at Whole Supp to join me on the journey. While I still enjoy life, I did my best to eat as cleanly as possible, supplemented with WholeSupp and for me, the result was very natural and sustainable. Yes there were ups and downs but I got there. Darren agreed to join me and share the story of his business which was recently vote No.1 supplement in Mens Health and is now shipping the product 22 countries around the world. Darren's leadership is unquestionable in our chat, given he puts the success down to the product and equally the team he's built the last few years. Of course, it is his drive that has created Whole Supp and made it best in class. We speak openly about family, about success and what his take is on it, and also what the future holds. Darren speaks openly about his fears and worries moving from a professional sporing environment to the corporate world, however, he quickly realised his sporting skills and mindset were transferrable and very much helped him negotiate and soar in that new world. I hope you enjoy the episode, reach out to Darren if you've any questions head to @wholesupp Also, it would help greatly if you could share this episode, like, follow / subscribe. Learn why he chose rent to rent for his core strategy, how he is making 9k cash flow a month and the lessons he has learnt along the way. KEY TAKEAWAYS Darren learnt his initial knowledge around property from his parents, who believed in never selling anything you owned and saving.
