A Saturday finish at the Farmers Open allowed for a Sunday morning recording, so Andy and Brendan went live on YouTube to recap Harris English's fifth PGA Tour win. English gets his flowers as a worthy champion and true professional, shooting a 73 with 12 straight pars to secure a win. Most of the Torrey chatter is about slow pace-of-play yet again, as even Dottie Pepper called out the long Saturday rounds on the broadcast. In other notables, Luke Clanton finished t15, gaining another point in the PGA Tour U standings, and two of this gambling podcast's picks for the week finished in the top 15 as well. Andy and Brendan then check in on the Game Within a Game for the DP World Tour's event in the UAE, where Big Shot Bob Karlsson was the only one to make the cut of the three options. In news, Andy and Brendan discuss more quotes from PGA of America CEO Derek Sprague about "hitting the pause button" on the proposed rollback. In an interview with Golf Digest, Sprague reiterated that the PGA of America would not be in support of the rollback and expressed a desire for golf leadership to gather "all around the table," as if that hasn't happened before. Sponsor exemptions were announced for the AT&T Pebble Beach this week and, as expected, Jordan Spieth is on the list. He's joined by Gary Woodland, Keith Mitchell, and Rickie Fowler, which leads to a short look at Rickie's current status in the game. Finally, Andy, Brendan, and PJ look ahead to their trip to Florida for the debut of the Ballfrogs against Kevin Kisner and Jupiter Links on Monday night.

Our special guest this week is golfing legend Dottie Pepper.  Her book, Letters to A Future Champion – My Time with Mr. Pulver, caught Tim's eye and he made it his book recommendation for last year's Holiday Book guide.  We chat with Dottie about her book, which is a tribute to her mentor Mr. Pulver and the life lessons he taught Dottie.  We also talk a little public policy – what she thinks about California's heavy taxation on athletes and all California residents, and the issue of name, image, and likeness rights for college athletes.

Mic Potter, has been the Head Women's Golf Coach of the Alabama Roll Tide since 2005, and previous to that led the Furman Lady Paladins from 1982-2005. Throughout his career, Potter has developed a reputation for being an excellent teacher of the game as well as a builder of elite college programs. His student-athletes consistently have performed at a high level both in the classroom and on the course, with several carrying that level of excellence on into the professional ranks. Mic has been named  Southern Conference Coach of the Year eight times and led his Furman teams to 36 tournament titles including 10 Conference Championships, while his Tide teams have captured 24 tournament wins, which puts him among the leaders for all active women's golf coaches with 60 total victories.  By any standard, Potter has proven to be one of the best women's golf coaches in the nation for more than three decades. He has built successful programs and maintained that standard by recruiting and cultivating talented players who advance to the professional ranks and obtain their degrees. Under Mic's coaching, 15 of his college players have gone on to play professionally earning a combined total of over $10 million in career earnings. Mic's most notable player includes 17x LPGA winner and tv sports analyst, Dottie Pepper. Potter has coached 36 NGCA All-Americans, 36 NGCA All-Scholar Team selections, 62 all-conference selections, six players to 15 first team All-SEC awards, 14 conference players of the year and seven conference freshmen of the year. Potter already had established a Hall-of-Fame legacy before he arrived in Tuscaloosa - thanks to his impressive work building Furman into a national power - but his work over the past decade at Alabama has been historic, culminating with the school's first national championship in 2012. Three seasons later, Potter helped guide Emma Talley to the individual NCAA Championship to cap off the 2014-15 season, becoming the first NCAA medalist in the program's history.

Dottie Pepper has little sympathy for the modern professional golfer. But you can't blame her—the beloved CBS analyst and 17-winner on the LPGA never had anything handed to her. She turned down a Dinah Shore sponsor's exemption in college because she couldn't afford to travel; she borrowed $5,000 from her grandfather to play in the 1987 U.S. Open; and her parents rented out their house to horse jockeys and trainers every summer to pay for her junior golf. So, no, she's not interested in hearing about no cuts and guaranteed pay days.  Pepper joins Assistant Editor Casey Bannon to discuss the current state of the professional golfer, the value in taking the hard way, criticisms of the broadcast, writing her first book and what's currently in her garden.

Dottie Pepper became the first On-Course Commentator in Master's history. She shares the story of how that came about, plus Tiger's surprise when he saw her inside the ropes. She also tells the stories of how she was able to get into Augusta National and down Magnolia Lane to see the final round of the 1987 Masters when she was a senior at Furman. She answers the question of what the greatest round is that she's ever witnessed either as a player or commentator, and the dramatic finish from when she captured her first LPGA major championship victory at the 1992 ANA Inspiration. Nick O'Hern talks about his new book "How To Play Your Best Golf, Strategies From A Tour Pro. I also get his thoughts on players going over to the LIV Tour, what his strategy was that allowed him to beat Tiger Woods twice in World Match Play events, plus why players insist on going for the pin on 12 at Augusta National during the final round when we've seen so many of those shots wind up in Rae's Creek. Michael Breed starts out talking about his dream to play Major League Baseball and the time when he pitched back-to-back games one righthanded and one lefthanded. We hear about the endowment fund he started for the men's golf team at his college alma mater in honor of his coach Ted Keller. Michael also shares his experience qualifying for and then playing in the 1994 Greater Hartford Open. I get his perspective on the LIV Tour, plus Lexi Thompson's performance at the KPMG PGA Championship.

NFL – House Oversight Committee invites Goodell, Snyder to appear The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform has invited NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder to appear at a hearing later this month. An NFL spokesman says the league received the invitation and would respond directly in a timely manner. Congress launched an investigation into the organization’s workplace culture last year after the league declined to release a report about an independent review it oversaw that led to a $10 million fine. The Commanders say they have assisted the NFL in cooperating with all prior requests from the committee and look forward to responding to the invitation in a timely manner. NFL – Brady, Rodgers headline list of NFL players skipping OTAs Tom Brady earned the right to skip voluntary workouts a long time ago. Several other star players, including Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson, also aren’t participating in organized team activities, a trend that’s increasing around the NFL. In Brady’s case, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are thrilled the seven-time Super Bowl champion is playing another season after a brief retirement in February. Things have changed, but Lydia Ko says not enough. Mallon would win that title in 1991, collecting the first six-figure payout in women’s golf history. Pepper says, “That was a big deal.” Three decades later, Pepper can hardly comprehend that the top female golfers in the world will be competing this week for a record $10 million purse. That includes a winner’s take of $1.8 million at the U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles.
