Transcript In veel steden in Nederland en Belgïe zijn er steeds meer kinderen die thuis een andere taal spreken dan of naast het Nederlands. In sommige steden zijn meertalige kinderen zelfs in de meerderheid. Hoe gaat een stad om met de meertaligheid van haar jongste inwoners? In deze aflevering spreek ik met drie verschillende mensen die ons vertellen over hun meertalige stad. Met Milka Yemane hebben we het over een recent besluit van het Amsterdamse stadsbestuur om meertaligheid in het onderwijs te stimuleren, met logopedist Astrid Roest praten we over de stappen die gemeente Zaanstad heeft genomen om het opvoeden en onderwijzen van meertalige kinderen in de stad te verbeteren, en met Ahmed Marcouch praten we over wat hij als meertalige burgemeester zou willen voor de meertalige inwoners van zijn stad, Arnhem. Let op: Deze aflevering wijkt af van de gebruikelijk opzet van de podcast - om te beginnen omdat hij langer is dan normaal maar vooral omdat we geen KletsInkoppertje, Kletshead van de week of Let's Klets hebben, en dit keer ook geen wetenschappelijk expert te gast. Milka Yemane is raadslid van Groenlinks in Amsterdam. Milka is geboren in Eritrea en opgegroeid in Nederland en is dus zelf meertalig (haar andere taal is Tigrinya - wil je daar meer over leren, luister dan naar deze aflevering van Kletsheads). Het initiatiefvoorstel Meertaligheid in het onderwijs waar zij over vertelt is ingediend door de voormalige gemeenteraadsleden Blom (GroenLinks), Yilmaz (DENK) en De Fockert (GroenLinks) en in januari dit jaar aangenomen in de Amsterdamse Gemeenteraad. Ahmed Marcouch is sinds 2017 burgemeester van Arnhem en is begin dit jaar herbenoemd voor een tweede termijn. Marcouch is meertalig opgegroeid met naast het Nederlands ook Tamazigt (of Riffijns) en Arabisch als zijn andere talen (wil je meer leren over het Tamazigt, luister naar deze aflevering en meer over het (Syrisch) Arabisch hoor je hier). Hij vertelt in ons gesprek over het belang van zijn meertaligheid voor zijn eigen identiteit, over het taalgebruik bij hem thuis, en over hoe hij in het Arabisch heeft voorgelezen in de Arnhemse bibliotheek. Samen met collega's heeft zij het handboek voor professionals Meertalig opgroeien geschreven. Daarin vind je niet alleen allerlei praktische tips voor het omgaan met meertalige gezinnen maar ook de het visiedocument met het kennisfundament waar Astrid tijdens ons gesprek over vertelde. Het handboek is ook te vinden op de website van Pact Poelenburg Peldersveld, de twee wijken in Zaanstad waar het allemaal begonnen is. Hier staan ook de posters en folders van de campagne 'Meertaligheid is een kans', die gemaakt zijn op basis van de adviezen uit het handboek in meerdere talen. De E-learning module Advisering meertalig opvoeden, wat en hoe? staat op het Drongo platform. The fork-tailed drongo's ability to lie and manipulate other species into doing what they want is nothing short of stunning, and their intelligence is absolutely unbelievable. Today, we learn about why humans lie, why it is usually wrong, and why Darwin might disagree. We address questions, such as:   Do drongos possess a theory of mind?  Should I skip school and pretend to be sick?  Why do meerkats keep falling for the drongo's trickery?
