Nick's back from Vietnam and he's rocking a tan, which he is happy to show all of us. Mark says golfers tans are the worst, given the time on course and the kind of gear you wear. Nick gives us a run through on the Vietnam trip he did, the courses he played and the fun they all got up. Mark, as it turns out went to Wagga Wagga for the Pro-Am, and had a great time! He tells us about the Wagga trip - and one particular thing he loved about Wagga that he says all golf clubs must do.Big win for Ryder Cup Vice Captain (one of) Alex Norén at Wentworth, he played extremely well and we chat about his win, and the Ryder Cup which is getting closer. Speaking of Ryder Cup vice captains, Mark loves stats coaches, and decides we need to get Edoardo “Dodo” Molinar on the pod for a chat. As it turns out, Nick knows him and says he'll set it up.Mark raises a developing dislike of his - hoodies. And explains why he dislikes them on golfers. But after a brief fashion diversion, back to the Ryder Cup, Nick and Mark feel the New York crowd will be aggressive to the Europeans, and they explain why New York crowds tend to be one of the most hostile in the US to visiting pros, when they're playing locals. We discuss some of the times that Nick and Mark were given some trash talk from a crowd member, they tell a couple of stories.Mark played Royal Melbourne on Monday this week just gone, and gives an update on the condition of the course. For BMW, a touch of class, a video this time from Wentworth which we explain on the pod and play for YouTube viewers - we'll share it on socials as well. After the turn....we've seen the new ad for our mates at Betr, and we reveal a fun fact about the new Goat character in their ad. Into the Top 5 - as Mark promised last week, it is his Top 5 holes in world golf with amazing backdrops as you watch the ball flight. It's going to start quieting down now, but this weekend past there was still plenty of golf for Nick to cover in the PING global results, and he runs through it all. Including two amazing facts about the LPGA - both absolute rippers!Plenty of feedback to run through for Southern Golf Club, some comments, some questions, and some people sharing their sadness at the loss of rules guru Stu McPhee.Mark has heard some news, which isn't great, about Tour School for the Champions Tour and runs us through it, and then for watchMynumbers, we hook into the masterclass from Nick, inspired by Alex Norén's win - more particularly the way he did it.We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:BMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And watchMynumbers and Southern Golf Club.

It was a memorable weekend for Connacht golf at Athlone Golf Club as Claremorris and Gort claimed their first AIG Pierce Purcell Shield and Women's Intermediate Foursomes Championships respectively. Gort claimed victory in the Women's Intermediate Foursomes. Having eased past Monkstown 3.5–0.5 in Friday's semi-final, they maintained that form against Munster West champions, Ballyneety in the final. Petra O'Connor and Sinead Collins set the tone with a 6&5 win, before Joan Fogarty and Sara Broderick quickly doubled the advantage by taking their match 7&5. Jane Joyce and Geraldine Connors then secured the half point needed, shaking hands on the 14th green to confirm victory and a first AIG Women's Intermediate Foursomes title for the Galway club. “We weren't expecting to get this far but it's absolutely fantastic for our team,” said Gort team captain Hannah McInerney. “We're just thrilled and very proud of this team. They put a lot of teamwork and dedication into it.” “We have some very seasoned golfers that would be used to match play and then we have a few golfers that are new to golf. One of the women in our first match is two years playing golf so a nice mix.” Team Captain Hannah McInerney spoke to John Mulligan on Saturday Sport.

A very special event that will raise money and awareness for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association will take place in Cregmore Golf Club from the 4th to the 6th of September. The event will be played in a Champagane Scramble Format and already has seen incredible interest with Saturday already sold out and limited spots on the Friday and Sunday. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order. The cause of MND is not known and sadly can strike people of all ages. There is also no cure. However, symptoms can be managed to help the person achieve the best possible quality of life. Sean Brennan is the organiser of the event and he spoke to George McDonagh on Over The Line.

We're joined by Malcolm Pennycott of Golf Finance, who brings his expertise to help demystify a subject that many clubs find challenging. In this episode, we explore: The types of projects and assets that can be financed. Why irrigation and water storage have become such a hot topic in recent years. How clubs can approach funding projects that may not be achievable without debt. The importance of good governance in making sound financial decisions. How to present a strong case to your Board and members when seeking approval. What caused the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash? The Talmud provides a surprising, direct answer from God Himself that continues to challenge us today. The connection between Parshas Devarim and Tisha B'Av is no coincidence. Both center on honest reflection about past mistakes rather than glossing over uncomfortable truths. Moshe's rebuke in Devarim exemplifies true Mussar – looking back at previous actions with clarity to understand where we went wrong. Similarly, Tisha B'Av isn't merely about mourning something we've never personally witnessed, but about examining the causative factors that led to destruction. The Talmud in Tractate Nedarim tells us something remarkable: when asked why the Temple was destroyed, neither the sages nor the prophets could determine the reason. Only God Himself provided the answer: "They forsook my Torah." But how exactly? The explanation given is cryptic yet profound – "they did not bless the Torah first." This doesn't mean they abandoned Torah study completely; rather, they failed to prioritize it as their highest concern. While externally Judaism appeared to function properly with mitzvos being performed, Torah had taken a secondary position in their hearts. To heal this relationship, we must reconsider how we approach Torah study. The Ramban advises not just learning Torah but implementing its wisdom immediately: "When you rise from your book, search in what you have studied to see if there is something you can now fulfill." Our relationship with sacred texts should mirror our most cherished relationships – treating them with care, keeping them organized, and ensuring they're never neglected. The way we pack for trips reveals our priorities; do our sefarim get packed first, or are they afterthoughts?Ultimately, there is no meaningful Jewish identity apart from Torah. It constitutes our entire relationship with God and provides the framework through which we understand our purpose. By recommitting to blessing Torah first – making it our primary concern in both study and action – we take a crucial step toward rebuilding what was lost. Donald Trump announced that the U.S. reached a trade deal with the European Union, following pivotal discussions with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen days before the Aug. 1 tariff deadline. The deal imposes a 15% tariff on most European goods to the U.S., including cars. Some products, including aircrafts and their components, some chemicals and pharmaceuticals, will not be subject to tariffs, von der Leyen said in a briefing after the agreement was announced. She also said that the new 15% tariff rate would not be added to any tariffs already in effect. Five years ago, Kyle Walton had a kernel of an idea: What if I started a golf club that wasn't attached to a golf course? That idea eventually became Gimme Golf, one of the best and most inclusive golf societies in the country. It also changed public golf in St. Louis in a profound way.
