This week I've gone crackers. I've wondered for awhile why it's biscuits everywhere else - but sometimes ... it's crackers. I mean, the most British of British claymation - Wallace and Grommit, when they go to the moon to get cheese, even they bring crackers.... not biscuits. That, and a few other things had me wondering if crackers and biscuts DIDN'T come from the same source? Rather did the two just meet in America. Turns out - that's what it was.It was Douglas Mack of The Snack Shack that got me stared with this post on biscuit and cracker mysteries of the past: The Snack That's a Secret IngredientAnd here are the llinks to @oliviacooks excellent cracker recipes made with sourdough discard:Love & Olive Oil - Sourdough CrackersSiicilian Parchment Sourdough Crackers (pane carasau)both include a non-sourdough version.Find out how it was New Sweden all along. Or maybe not that... but they were involved. Anyway, be glad your crackers have fat and leavening in them. That's right, listeners – we've been building up to this all year! As we hurtle towards episode 100, we thought it'd be fun to bring back all of our winners, throw them into a pressure-cooker Thunderdome style and see who emerges as Who Wins champion. Yeah, I put friggin Scared Kirby on the thumbnail. Sure it's not a multiplayer game, who asked you, nerd? Narc? Whatcha going to do? Call the niche podcast thumbnail police? File a report of a violation of gamer code 420 that I didn't do my gamer homework and published a non-related picture on my own dang podcast thumbnail? Deal with it, I think Scared Kirby looks funny. Gavin is a true creative polymath, stretching his hands from directing, design, music, photography, writing and speaking. Gavin has been working with the Oscar winning animation studio Aardman for 14 years, mecca of stop motion, perhaps best known for bringing to life the wonderful and childhood shaping characters Wallace and Grommit. Gav is hilarious, articulate so curious and creative, and one of the most grateful humans we have had on the show. During our chat, we go through what it's like being a multi disciplinary creative in a world where specialising is typically more coveted, how being technology and medium agnostic can open you up to unique crossover and connections and he absolutely hits the nail on the head with the topic of style and finding your voice. Gav takes us through a snapshot of his process when directing the stunning and emotional stop motion animated short film, Turtle Journey. I Hope you enjoy this episode where we pay tribute to the cement layers and manual labourers of the world, wig out over disrupting the space time continuum and Gav and I accidentally invent the newest version of LowFi beats to chill to. Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg is on the TV telling them that the world is on fire and it’s all their fault. Their comedic dissent into the disappointing abyss of unfulfilled dreams and a mounting fear of ‘what’s outside’ is layered with precision timing, nonsensical absurdity and deadpan delivery. Multi award-winning creators of Die Roten Punkte, Clare Bartholomew and Daniel Tobias are back with a brand new murderously funny physical farce. Think Beckett meets Wallace and Grommit. Since 2006, Clare Bartholomew and Daniel Tobias have been touring their award-winning, irreverent brand of theatre and comedy-cabaret to North America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Together they’ve been nominated for thirteen Greenroom Awards, winning 3 of them, and nominated for a Time Out & Soho Theatre Award and a Total Theatre Award in Edinburgh.
