Rhonda Hess: Hey coaches, I've got something special for you today. Find the full transcript plus helpful links and specific words to say in coaching sessions at prosperouscoach.com/193. Also, there's a link to a free downloadable infographic that you'll want to click to on that page.I don't know if you got to listen to the previous session that I did with my good friend and amazing coach, Laurie Cameron, where we talked about Powerful Questions (Episode 139 – The Art of Crafting Powerful Coaching Questions.) If you have not heard that one, go get it because it's really, really good. And this one's also going to be really, really good. We are going to talk about something different having to do with coaching skills today. So let me first introduce you to Laurie. The world that Laurie Cameron wants to leave our children is one where we feel safe, valued, and connected because that's when we can accomplish meaningful work together. Her part in creating that world is to help people communicate with kindness, respect, and compassion. Laurie's been coaching and training since 1998 and her company WAKE UP! Enterprises helps leaders integrate the coaching mindset and heart into their everyday communications in order to build a sustainable coaching culture from the inside out. She's also a senior faculty member of one of the oldest coach training organizations in the world — that's Coach Training Alliance, and she has trained over 1200 coaches through CTA. Laurie also works with coaches applying for their ACC credential with the ICF to get their 10 hours of mentor coaching. Visit her at wakeupenterprises.com or ACCmentorcoach.com. Laurie, thank you so much for doing this again, and it's always so fun to collaborate with you on anything.Laurie Cameron: Oh, I feel exactly the same. I'm really thrilled. Thank you so much for inviting me.Rhonda Hess: My absolute pleasure. And so, we are going to talk today about aimless coaching sessions. Everybody's had one, probably everybody's experienced one. We are going to take a look at it from all angles and uncover the best way to recover from an aimless coaching session as a coach. So first let's just start with this. I thought about this: bWhat do you think, Laurie, is a single word that describes the best coaching sessions with clients?Laurie Cameron: I think FOCUSED is a good word — because you know … there's purpose, there's meaning, there's safety — all of that. And yet, if I were to pick one, it would be focused — not just focused on what the client wants to take away, but really focused on the client. Fully focused on the client for the entire session because coaching is client-driven.Rhonda Hess: It also means that it has an aim. So I really like that one. I think that's really good. What does an aimless coaching session look and feel like to the coach?Laurie Cameron: In the classes that I teach at Coach Training Alliance, we come up with this a lot — an aimless session. I have an analogy for that, Rhonda, and it's kind of like watching a dog, chase a family of squirrels.Read the tips and short scripts Laurie has about avoiding and fixing aimless coaching sessions.

A year ago, the Atlanta Braves had yet to see .500 and were scrambling to acquire outfielders in the same way the Cardinals tried to find starting pitchers. Through a series of shrewd moves, the Braves rebuilt their lineup at the trade deadline and everything clicked -- at the best possible time. As one executive said during the confetti-splashed celebration of the Braves' 2021 World Series championship: That is why you play to get in the playoffs and just see what happens. Dave O'Brien, the longtime Braves beat writer now at The Athletic, joins the Best Podcast in Baseball to discuss how a team struggling in July can become a champion by October. And, if Atlanta is now the team they imagined having -- and even better than they were before. The Cardinals troubles with the NL East are explored, and so is the skills of a manager rewarded for his devotion to the organization. Eric Carroll is a husband, father, and host of the Dad Talk Today podcast. He's also a leading national advocate to end dad deprivation and parental alienation, a consequence of the national divorce industry which is worth tens of billions of dollars annually. This massive field is incentivized to wreck the American family through the American father. And Eric's outspoken approach, Southern drawl, and down-home attitude has helped become a well-recognized personality and advocate for fathers within national political circles in just three years, with hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook and beyond. In our conversation we discussed: The political response (or non-response) to parental alienation of dads The double standard of men's and women's emotions Men's need for self-care, and what that looks like The external and internal politics of the men's movement Eric's personal story, and how he started DadTalkToday And finally, his documentary about John Mast, who was murdered during a custody exchange, an all-too-common occurrence. The war on masculinity now exists in the political realm, with real levers of power being brought to bear upon the American family, through the American man. These aren't easy or comfortable subjects to look at, but they are important ones. And Eric Carroll is a man of profound courage and commitment for continuing to be a voice for dads. Everyone lies to his neighbour; their flattering lips speak with deception. “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times (Psalm 12:2,5,6) Does it seem to you that Psalm 12 describes our society? Do we expect the truth to be spoken? As I listened to the opening part of the Ontario leaders' debate on Monday night, I found myself inclined to mistrust everything I heard. We don't really believe the campaign promises made, yet we vote for those who make the biggest promises (which means, the biggest lies). Centuries after David penned this lament, the apostle Paul wrote, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). CEOs tell us they care about the laid off factory worker while they deposit their bonuses for streamlining the company. And we the consumer, we shrug our shoulders and purchase their merchandise (which we don't really need). Eugene Peterson once described the state of our culture: "The puzzle is why so many people live so badly. Not so wickedly but so inanely. Not so cruel but so stupidly. There's little to admire and less to imitate in the people who are prominent in our culture. We have celebrities but not saints. Famous entertainers amuse a nation of bored insomniacs. Infamous criminals act out the aggression of timid conformists. Petulant and spoiled athletes play games vicariously for lazy and apathetic spectators. Aimless and bored, people amuse themselves with trivia and trash. Neither the adventure of goodness nor the pursuit of righteousness gets headlines" (Run with the Horses). How should Christians live in such a treacherous society? First, we need to recognize the state of things, acknowledging that truth is not loved around us. This is not a matter in which Christians ought to feel superior, but one in which we ought to test our own hearts, examining how easily we get caught up in lies. In his psalm, David recognized that a society built on lies mistreats its citizens. The ones on the bottom of the socio-economic pile will get buried deeper and deeper. It is the powerful who create the lies for their own advantage. They gain from the lies. But it is a dangerous game they play, “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them” (5). We must ask ourselves. Where are we in the pile of lies our society lives on? Secondly, we ought to join David in his prayer, "May the Lord cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue" (3). As dangerous prayer! Will our tongues and lips survive? We will not defeat evil. The enemy is too strong. Rather, we pray that our warrior King will be defeat evil. We wait for His justice and for his Spirit to sanctify our living. Thirdly, David says, "The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver..." (6). The antidote to the lying in our society is a delight in the truth which is found in God's Word. It reveals the way to true life. Do we love it? And so, we pray that our lives will be permeated with God's words, not marked by uncontrollable tongues. If we're controlled by the Spirit, we won't manipulate people. We will minster to them. And we will experience fullness in place of emptiness, wholeness in place of fragmentation, and fellowship in place of loneliness.

Hyperspace Theories podcast returns to the realm of Star Wars storytelling with this month's episode, in which Tricia Barr and B.J. Priester discuss The Book of Boba Fett. In addition to its seven chapter, we also consider insights from the Disney Gallery episode exploring the development and production of the Disney+ series.   We begin with the titular character. The first four episodes of The Book of Boba Fett portray two sets of events in his life: his experiences from his escape from the Sarlaac Pit until his appearance in “The Tragedy” chapter of The Mandalorian season two to reclaim his father's armor, and his return to Tatooine to establish himself as “daimyo” upon the throne previously occupied by Jabba the Hutt and Bib Fortuna. Each of these storylines contains some interesting ideas for Fett's character development, but both fail to meet the potential of those ideas. In addition, the series at times relies heavily on homages to famous cinema (like Lawrence of Arabia or The Godfather) and references to previous Star Wars material (including comics, books, and videogames) without challenging or subverting some of the damaging tropes frequently found in those sources, particularly in the thin characterization of the female characters and the fate of the indigenous Tusken tribe that welcomed Fett into its community. Although the finale episode delivers exciting Star Wars action sequences, it ends on a meta-referential note: Fett himself wonders aloud whether he should have been pursuing the objective of becoming daimyo in the first place. Even more jarring, the fifth and sixth chapters of The Book of Boba Fett barely even include him at all. Instead, the focus on events that we would have expected to appear in season three of The Mandalorian, including Din Djarin's return to the Armorer's covert, his acquisition of a new starship to replace the RazorCrest, and his paternal caring for Grogu. Another appearance by Ahsoka Tano delivers unexpected emotion for Din in doing what's right for Grogu, as well as for the audience with dialogue overtly linking her current role in the galaxy to her past with the Skywalker family. A surprisingly lengthy appearance by Luke reveals more about Grogu, while also testing both Luke and Grogu in their commitment to the Jedi path. Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and Dave Filoni, respectively, these two episodes offer far stronger Star Wars storytelling than the rest of The Book of Boba Fett. Jon Rennie is a former US Navy submarine officer, as well as a business leader, podcast host, and author. We met on Twitter, where I saw his book “All In the Same Boat” about his time aboard the USS Tennessee and what it taught him about life and business. I rarely read business books, but I thought I'd give his a try. As a lover of sailing, his sea stories stirred my heart, and I thought my audience might enjoy them too. In our conversation we discussed: His background, and some formative moments aboard the Tennessee How he raised his boys to become successful men The three acts of his life: from Naval officer, to business leader, to author The process of writing his trilogy of books about submarine and business life What it was like serving during the Cold War The accuracies and inaccuracies of the hit submarine films The Hunt for Red October, and Crimson Tide Jon and I had one of my most fun conversations yet. Paul Risse is a husband, father, community leader, and author of the new book “The Psychedelic Christian.” I'm new at being a Christian, but I've had positive experiences with ayahuasca, sound healing, psychotherapy, and more. If my stories sound far out, Paul's experiences are otherworldly: Lucid dreaming, meditation, gnosticism, Hinduism, raw food veganism, microdosing, psychedelics from every letter of the alphabet, a year of living without electricity, and more. In Paul's new book, he outlines how his former life led him unexpectedly to Christ. In our conversation we discussed: Paul's amazing life story How some Christian denominations create dangerous environments for believers Christianity, psychedelics, and sexuality How we're losing ancestral wisdom to modernity How I found Christ, or Christ found me, at Burning Man And finally how Christianity is welcoming travelers bearing stories of journeys in the spirit realms. These are controversial topics to discuss. To navigate them requires a man of wisdom, integrity, love for humanity, and reverence for God. As I hope you'll see, these all describe my friend Paul to a T. Pastor Doug Wilson is a husband, father, grandfather, author, Youtube star and the leader of the Christ Kirk Christian community in Moscow, Idaho. He's also a man unafraid to speak the truth in a quiet but firm, compassionate but direct voice, sprinkled with a genuine sense of grandfatherly humor, and the occasional dad joke. But at the same time, I've discovered he causes friction within the Christian community, apparently for saying things that we all mutter under our breath or say aloud over cigars and whiskey. But he's much more cheerful about them. In our conversation Pastor Doug and I discussed: The lessons he learned from his father Constructive vs. destructive dominance How men's sexual cycles need to follow women's sexual cycles for society to flourish How outlawed Christian communities are coming back into fashion How the famine of fatherhood ties into America's current land migration Advice for new and longtime Christians And finally, a brilliant perspective on Postmillennialism My favorite part of this conversation is just how many quotable quotes Pastor Doug drops throughout the interview, in his how inimitable style. The Daily Boost | Coaching You Need. Success You Deserve.

Creating a difference in your life is a non-stop process that requires simple actions to help you get what you want. And it is, after all, about getting what you want and keeping what you love. You'll always go through these steps: 1) Decide. Everything begins with your decision to head off in a new direction. While sometimes you may feel like you've made a decision, if you're not moving, you haven't. 2) Define. Aimless wandering is fun when that's what you've decided to do. Otherwise, it's frustrating, exhausting, and takes place more than you think. When you define your path, you get to walk your path. 3) Deploy. As dull as the advice may be, putting your plan into action is the only way for you to get what you want. If you don't deploy, you don't get it. 4) Defend. After working so hard to get what you want, you can guarantee that something or somebody will try to take away your results. That's not good or bad. That's life. When you find what you love, be sure to defend it so you never lose it. Simple. I like simple. Simple works! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Why are you here... really? That's an important question that many of us don't take or make time to answer, and yet it's a question whose answer has the power to drive everything about us. Missing the answer to that question could lead you into a pitfall, and finding the answer could lead you to an amazing life!

They're not just mind and muscle, brains and brawn. They are also heart and spirit, feeling and soul. Which doesn't make them less dangerous, but more. In our conversation we discussed more fascinating topics than I can list, including: The potential future paths of American civilization, following the chaos of the past 2 years The scariest verse in the Bible What happens when you learn to listen to, and heed your conscience The definitions of the words "esoteric" and "meekness" And finally, a deep understanding of the purpose and culture of the ninja. What I appreciate about doing a podcast is that it gives me the opportunity to go deep into dialogue with men whose backgrounds and philosophies are nothing like my own. I am so excited to share today's podcast episode: a deep dive into the conversation around knowing your why. As we move through life it can be really hard to continue to find purpose; you go through a change in your job, your kids grow up, or something unexpected happens steering you in a direction, and you find yourself kind of going through the motion without being connected to a sense of passion. Understanding your why is really what will bring so much clarity to us during bouts of confusion and aimlessness. Now I'm not saying it's as easy as listening to a podcast and being given all the answers- but what I do know is that it is WORTH asking yourself what you want to achieve and understanding the why. The why is like a vetting process, a fire beneath us, and a coach for us throughout the journey- all in one. If you want to join our patreon community visit www.patreon.com/abitfromwithin

Christopher Paul Meyer speaks with James A. Gagliano, Ayman Kafel, and Charlie Faint about the Prince Harry/Meghan Markle interview with Oprah. Where others see the Royals' soap opera through the lens of celebrity culture, we wonder if Harry is just another military vet without a mission. In true Havok Journal fashion, we use the interview as a jumping off point to talk about toxic masculinity, the loss of purpose, and calls to defund the police. Show Alibis  - What I'm about to tell you is something I've never told anyone before. And it is absolutely, 100% true. Ever since I got back from Vietnam, I've been on the run from my former comrades in MACV-SOG. It's a long story that involves heroin shipments, chemical interrogation, and a plot to kill a sitting US Senator. They caught up with me just as I was driving to the studio to record this episode. I used my 5th Dan aikido skills, but there were just too many of them. I ended up locked in the trunk of my car. But since Jimmy Gagliano had gone out of his way to pause his mayoral campaigning to be on the show, I was damned if I wasn't going to do the episode. So I open up my laptop and use some crappy headset I found under the spare tire. Fortunately, the two guys assigned to guard me were driving me to a safehouse somewhere near the Canadian border, so I had just enough time to do the full hour. Just as I signed off, they opened the trunk and I used the crappy headset to gouge one of their eyes out, while knocking the other out with my laptop. I picked up the car keys and said "Thanks for the ride," to no one in particular. Just then, about 15 state police cruisers showed up, lights and sirens going. "Freeze!" they ordered me. I raised my hands and gave them a world-weary look. "No!" screamed my wife, who had gone along with them and is also a plucky journalist and a lingerie supermodel. "He's innocent!" And they walked up to me and said sorry for the misunderstanding and something along the lines of "I'm glad our country still has heroes like you." And I nodded wearily because I've seen this all before, and my wife ran up and hugged me and we walked over to the bad guys' car and drove off as the credits began to roll. So that's why my audio just absolutely sucks throughout the episode. But when you consider all that I did that day to make America safe, I think we can still chalk it up as a win. (NOTE - none of this is even close to the plot of Above the Law).  - When talking about how Dean Stott met Prince Harry, I say that they both attended the British equivalent of our JTAC training, which I label "Joint Tactical Air Control." I meant "Joint Terminal Attack Controller." I was not Air Force. It showed.  - In the episode, I make a comparison between the "defund the police" movement and the anti-Balaka militias of the Central African Republic. I meant to use the Selekas/ex-Selekas as an example. As everyone knows, the anti-Balaka are the enemy of the Seleka (and ex-Seleka). I'm sure you all noticed and are appropriately offended. I join you in your outrage.
