Bodies drifting aloft through the endless night. Alone. Aimless. Remnants from the assembly of existence. Celestial slag cast into the void. A building block of creation in search of a new creator. To the United Colonies, these unbound boulders are nothing more than a nuisance. God's refuse en route to a cosmic waste bin. The KERKHOVEN, a United Colonies mapping vessel, is manned by a four-person crew. Their pervue is the documentation of meteors, comets, and other orphaned celestial debris that threatens the shipping routes between the Alpha Centauri and the independent systems. Most days are dull and produce no object in which to judge at all. But one day in particular will bring, not the judging of space rocks, but the value of human life...Transmission 1.4....commence.CAST:Carson Holbrook, Captain, Kerkhoven | ALEX JAMES KANEGinger Eix, First Mate, Kerkhoven | DoraTrix DORATRIXKellen “Salsa” Verde, Science Officer, Kerkhoven | BEC HUEGGSEston Bloom, Maintenance, Kerkhoven | DR. Breaking Down The Aimless Arguments Of Lori Vallow Daybell In Court With Bob Motta Did Lori Vallow Daybell really believe she was saving her daughter from danger—or is that just the story she's hoping the jury will buy? The Arizona trial is underway and while the courtroom may not be bursting with fireworks just yet, there's no shortage of bizarre strategy and eyebrow-raising moments. Defense Attorney Bob Motta joins Tony Brueski to unpack Lori's awkward attempts at cross-examination, her oddly competent opening statement (complete with the overuse of “the evidence will show”), and her legally risky gamble of possibly testifying. With no living witnesses left to corroborate her narrative, the alleged cult mom might be the only one who can sell the tale of self-defense… but at what cost? They also dissect the prosecution's efforts to avoid deep-diving into the apocalyptic beliefs that fueled Lori's alleged descent, and the strange decision to dodge any “zombie” talk—for now. From missing motives to sketchy video claims, it's clear the jury's in for a twisted journey… but can Lori really pull this off without taking the stand?

The Trump administration just took things to a chilling new level — deporting people to foreign prisons without due process. They're using the Alien Enemies Act — a law last invoked to justify the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII — to deport 137 Venezuelans to El Salvador, where they're now being held in a notorious, crowded mega-prison where visitation and recreation are forbidden. Meanwhile, Chuck Schumer's decision to back the GOP's spending bill has sparked fierce backlash from Democrats across the board. Jon, Lovett, and Tommy break down the administration's defiance of the courts and debate both sides of the shutdown fight. Then, Dan talks to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries about his break with Schumer and how Democrats can unite against the Trump administration.

The mass firing of federal workers continued this week, as did the early stages of a fightback. Many of us have experienced a situation of anxiety, may it be public speaking or your driver's license ride. When there is lots on stake and personal, family, and societal expectations tied to it, we tend to over estimate the amount of time people spend being present and having an opinion about it. High achievers, with high intrinsic motivation, tend to overthink, overanalyse, and catastrophize events and their outcomes. In order to reduce the symptoms of worrying; what often happens is that people run away from their fear even more. Aimless, like chased by a perpetrator, a wild animal. In such situations of hyper vigilance, we need to send the body and mind a signal of calm. This is however immensely difficult to remember, in a state of such acute (chronic) stress. Creating a difference in your life is a non-stop process that requires simple actions to help you get what you want. And it is, after all, about getting what you want and keeping what you love. You'll always go through these steps: 1) Decide. Everything begins with your decision to head off in a new direction. While sometimes you may feel like you've made a decision, if you're not moving, you haven't. 2) Define. Aimless wandering is fun when that's what you've decided to do. Otherwise, it's frustrating, exhausting, and takes place more than you think. When you define your path, you get to walk your path. 3) Deploy. As dull as the advice may be, putting your plan into action is the only way for you to get what you want. If you don't deploy, you don't get it. 4) Defend. After working so hard to get what you want, you can guarantee that something or somebody will try to take away your results. That's not good or bad. That's life. When you find what you love, defend it so you never lose it. Simple. I like simple. Simple works! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What a brilliant chat with Orla Fitzmaurice! We started with web design and then went down the rabbit hole... Orla's path from archaeology nerd to economics graduate to web designer is exactly the delightful meandering I live for. We dove into her take on AI - equal parts excitement and healthy skepticism - and got real about the magic that happens when you let go of perfectionism and actually collaborate with clients. If you identify as multitalented and multipassionate, this convo will show you that you CAN do it all. Can't-Miss Moments:Two ADHD entrepreneurs walk into a podcast: Orla breaks down how her diagnosis changed her approach to design (and how you can embrace the chaos to create something even better)...What in the world does archaeology have to do with web design? Orla shares the surprising link between her past interests and present work (maybe no time spent learning is ever really wasted?)...The great AI debate: Orla and I reveal our thoughts about AI and its impact on creative work. Is it time to embrace our new robot overlords? The magic of co-creation: ever heard of someone designing a whole ass website in real time, live with a client? Orla spills the beans on her unique approach and the incredible results it produces...Orla and I bond over our shared contempt for perfectionism (and reveal why being real and unpolished is actually a much stronger position than "perfect")... Orla's bio:Designer, strategist and quiet chaos merchant on an infinite quest to promote sustainable and aligned self-employment.I believe in the unique and infinite potential of every single mind on this planet and the importance of self-determination for true creative freedom. I love to help my clients to discover and illuminate their path to sustainable and aligned self-employment to create true personal freedom.Having worked as a freelance web designer for 20 years a web designer, I have been involved with every side of building a business from idea, design, development, startup funding, business-modeling to sales. However, as I became more successful, I found myself becoming repeatedly burnt out from the hustle side of running a small agency, constantly moving from contract to contract and struggling to find the time to provide the quality of service I had previously. When I'm not working, daydreaming or taking care of my two monkeys under 4 – I am painting. On today's PoM Podcast we talk about what causes us to aimlessly go through life and resolving to have no more wasted days. Often we are aimless because we lack direction. In this video we are going to tackle a challenging question: what is self-actualisation isn't what we should be doing; what if instead it is a big cope — a way of burying our head in the sand (rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic; playing our fiddle while Rome burns — choose your preferred analogy) while the world burns. -------------------
The More We Are Aimless The More We Become Shameless Gita 02.41 by Exploring mindfulness, yoga and spirituality
Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: aimless ace analyzes active amateur: a micro-aaaaalignment proposal, published by Luke H Miles on July 21, 2024 on The AI Alignment Forum. This idea is so simple that I'm sure it's been had by someone somewhere. Suppose we have some method to make really smart honest AIs that do not have goals. Let's say it's a yes/no oracle. Our aimless ace. But we want to accomplish stuff! AIcorp wants the printmoneynow.py. I'm worried that if I train the ace to fold fitted sheets and unkink the garden hose then it will go overboard and fold my femur bone and unkink the Yellowstone super volcano. So let's use a bit-less-smart model to do tasks. The active amateur. We'll ask the ace if the amateur is plotting something. If yes, we shut down the amateur. Every day we also ask "is today the last day I can shut down the amateur?" (We do not generate code with the ace!) So we get super-smart supervision of a decent task AI. The temptation (ie competitive pressure) to agentify the oracle is there still, but no longer overwhelming. Maybe we can even have the amateur write ace_v2, have ace_v1 check ace_v2, switch to ace_v2, have amateur_v1 write amateur_v2, check it with ace_v2, then switch to amateur_v2. If this looks like it's avoiding the hard parts of the alignment problem, that's because it is! But does something actually go wrong? Was it too big an assumption that we could build an aimless honest ace? (Or if you think the idea is good, then a bit of positive encouragement would be wonderful.) Thanks for listening. After a four-month break, the Terribly Vexed Podcast is back, bringing you an eclectic mix of conversation and contemplation. In this episode, we reconnect and catch up on the whirlwind of topics that have been on our minds. We kick things off by sharing messages from our fans, including a scathing review that's sure to spark some discussion! We talk about why we needed a breather from our deep dives into conspiracy theories and highlight some events that have captivated us during our downtime. The recent presidential debate ignites a spirited discussion on the value of voting and its true impact. We then venture into speculative territory, pondering what a second civil war in the United States might look like and its implications for society. Our survival talk leads us to the surprising potential of kudzu, a plant often regarded as a nuisance, and how it could be a vital food source in times of crisis. Our conversation shifts to the challenges and frustrations of living in big cities, contrasted with the allure of a quieter, simpler life. We also dive into the ongoing debate between Graham Hancock and Flint Dibble, exploring their contrasting views on history and archaeology, with a particular focus on the legend of Atlantis. There's more, but we can't mention it all here! Stay tuned for our next episode, where we'll dive into the fascinating and controversial world of weather manipulation! "Aimless" is the view of Josh Hoffman (his word), but the truth is that he just really cared; Cared so much that he didn't want to ruin something he loved very much (art). Josh is now a professional artist who pursues his craft through tattooing, over at Rapture Tattoo Emporium (Mechanicsburg, PA). Sometimes, caring too much causes paralysis. It's important to know that there will be failure, but as long as we genuinely give a shit, it's going to be alright; We also have people around us who care and will help shepherd us in our journey. Thank you Josh! So glad you didn't bench yourself in retail and that you're the type of guy who really cares. You have so much more to express, not only because Part 2 is next week, but because we pray you have a whole life of art making ahead. ~Sound Design by: Amy Nicholls who owes (Sound Wizard) Chuck Nunn (@djchucknunn) for Intros/Exits and for his years of audio support that was the foundation of this podcast. Hans Trüb is one of the unsung heroes of the early movement of Analytical Psychology. He was a pioneer of relational psychoanalysis or intersubjective psychotherapy years before any such terms were coined. Trüb (which means 'cloudy' or ‘gloomy' in German) had a personal friendship and later conflict with Jung and an ongoing correspondence with philosopher Martin Buber. Trüb's psychological theory is an attempt of synthesising Analytical Psychology with Buber's dialogue-based philosophy. His vision was an analysis at eye level, a powershift between analyst and analysand, as well as an analysis as focused on the inner as the outer world. I invited my favorite scholar Paul Bishop again to the podcast to help shed some light on Trüb's thinking, his contributions, and their importance for us today. In this episode, I open up about a recent counseling session where I expressed feeling like nothing I do in motherhood matters. My therapist gave me some advice that completely shifted my perspective, so I wanted to pass it along to you in case you needed to hear it as well. We'll discuss the importance of adjusting our expectations and finding value in the everyday tasks of parenting, even when they seem mundane or insignificant, and discover how reframing our mindset can transform the way we view our role as mothers. I pray we recognize the significance of every moment spent nurturing and caring for our children. Tune in for encouragement and insight into finding purpose in the journey of motherhood. Aimless wandering is essential for understanding yourself. Here's why. Over 60% of high school seniors in America go straight to college after graduating. Out of the other 40%, some will get jobs or internships. Some will go to trade school. And some of them might be totally lost: unsure about their future, and what they want it to look like. But Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston thinks that being lost can be a good thing. Cranston's own journey of self-discovery started on a two-year motorcycle trip he embarked upon with his brother in the seventies. The freedom of exploration, sleeping wherever he could lay his sleeping bag, and living without an itinerary, helped him to find what he really wanted, which was to become an actor — not a policeman, as he had thought in high school. Overall, Cranston's message is clear: embrace the unknown, wander, and allow yourself to get lost. Through travel and exploration, one can gain a sense of direction and self-governance that can't be found in the rigid and unrealistic expectations of a high-productivity society. To know what you really want, you have to go out and find it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ❍ About The Well ❍ Do we inhabit a multiverse? Do we have free will? What is love? Is evolution directional? There are no simple answers to life's biggest questions, and that's why they're the questions occupying the world's brightest minds. So what do they think? How is the power of science advancing understanding? How are philosophers and theologians tackling these fascinating questions? Let's dive into The Well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone is scratching their heads over the GOP loss in NY-03, but as I point out today, it's about a broader pattern of Republicans underperforming for the past few years of special and regular elections at a time when they should be crushing Democrats. We now have a Republican Party that is the lowest common denominator between Trump's baggage and the old establishment's aimless message and policies. The Right has become reactionary, unfocused, and undisciplined, so the establishment continues to win red-state primaries and the Democrats continue to win competitive elections. This is exactly like the European dynamic, in which the globalists continue to win because the only semblance of a right wing is reactionary and ineffective. I give an example of how Tucker Carlson is becoming such a figure, latching onto mindless pacifism as a foreign policy and giving us a false dichotomy between neo-cons and somehow supporting Gaza and Iran. 4 Steps to Getting What You Want — and Keeping It. 3) Deploy. As dull as the advice may be, putting your plan into action is the only way to get what you want. If you don't deploy, you don't get it. 4) Defend. After working hard to get what you want, you can guarantee that something or somebody will try to take away your results. That's not good or bad. That's life. When you find what you love, defend it so you never lose it. Simple. I like simple. Simple works! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Will Hardy laid down the gamet over the last week of what will be acceptable and unacceptable for the Utah Jazz moving forward. He set the standards if you don't play hard and don't pass you don't play for the Utah Jazz and if you are going to play for the Utah Jazz you are going to give a *&^* about the Utah Jazz. This is what has to happen as a team builds a culture and heads toward a rebuild and reboot. The organization has to avoid aimless losing and that is what Will Hardy has to do in his 2nd year as the Utah Jazz head coach. The Utah Jazz win on Saturday was vital because you have to win to have some positive teaching moments for a franchise and most of all the win came with defense. A unique starting lineup lead the way for the Utah Jazz and Collin Sexton's play late closed the deal. The Pelicans will have Zion Williamson tonight and it is a game changer. There aren't many forces that are as compelling as Zion and his game. Locked On Jazz Podcast

This episode carries content warnings for discussion of mass destruction/death, discussion of medical treatment, mind reading and medical coercion, discussion of ethnic cleansing. Across Palisade, fingers rest on triggers, and some triggers are bigger than others. In clammy rooms, sweat slides down skin and throats are cleared without direction. Aimless eyes track the dust drifting in the red rays coming through the window. Outside the sun swells and bulges, driven sick with the possibility that it might eradicate possibility itself. A decision must be made. This week on PALISADE 21: In Their Fear Pt. 2 Why can't we dance in the same groove every day? Dossier Organizations Violet Cove: The Dim Liturgy claim to have seen the Divine Devotion's arrival coming in their sacred text: A battered and corrupted backup of Crystal Palace's final predictions for the future. Now the two cults work together to oust the Bilats... and perhaps to do more intriguing things, as well. The Devotees: A church from the Twilight Mirage that is committed to the worship of the divine Devotion, which they sometimes refer to as Fervor. Common practices include the regular checking of one's pulse and multi-day group picnic outings. STEREOMA: Pact truebeliver Cor'rina Corrine and cor rival Misericorde have begun building a surgical, anti-Bilat hit squad on Paliade. Jade Kill: Based in Joyous Guard, this military arm of the Cause is operated by the Delegate liberation faction known as Reunion and supported by Kalar Anakalar's (he/him) Giantkiller unit and a wing of Swordbreakers. Led by August Righteousness (he/him). People Griesel Sunset (he/him): Coriolos' father. A zealous Devotee. Recently deceased. Formido Sunset (he/him): Coriolos' brother, a member of the Devotee's research and development division. Phobos Sunset (he/him): Coriolos' second brother. Bing-32: A floating, cat sized drone able to use a variety of tools. Now mass produced for use across Millennium Break. Originally designed by Kalvin Brnine, though under another name. Stargrave Elcessor (she/her): Leader of the Bilateral Interecession's occupation of Palisade, assigned personally by Cynosure Whitestar-Kesh. As a Stargrave, she has been granted the means and “right” to detonate the star at the center of Palisade's star system if she determines that those here are an existential threat to the Principality. The Witch in Glass (she/her): A former scion of Kesh who, after knitting a bond with the adversary Perennial, came into control of the broken body of the Divine Past, which she has renamed the Reflecting Pool. Rules over the Crown of Glass, a city-state on the southeastern reaches of Palisade. A shaky ally of Millennium Break. Haunted by an old foe. Connadine (he/him): Commander of the BIS on Palisade. An expert in psychological operations and folklore. As a composer, his opus is the Adagio, a plan to get everyone on Palisade operating in ways not only predictable, but scripted. As a conductor, his orchestra now turns towards the second movement. Saint Decario Dicario (he/him): Devoted Devotee warmonger and one-time lover of the Twilight Mirage rockstar Teleos Triton Tanager. Elle Evensong (she/they) - Elle arrived to Palisade along with the first wave of Devotees, making a name for herself as a cunning combatant and clever commander. She became a poster child for Twilight Mirage's support of Palisade (and, for members of the Dim Liturgy, a prophesied bridge between the past and the future). But as the war began to heat up, she seemed to vanish into the background. Pilot of the Cataphract. Saffron Septet (she/her): A doctor from the Twilight Mirage who lives as a digital consciousness, spread across a number of bodily forms including a heavy Torch Unit, a small motorcycle, and a unique and specially-crafted surgeon body. Misericorde 'Miseri' (he/they): Former Nidean scion who helped secure Palisade for the Bilateral Intercession. Officially MIA, but secretly working with Pact loyalist Cor'rina Corrine (cor/cors), famed Apostolosian peacemaker (and Miseri's rival), as agents of chaos on the planet. Places Diadem Gravtrain: While the vast trench-city on Palisade's equator lays abandoned, Kesh has reactivated its railway via an operations center in Carmathen. Tintagel: A city and fortress that marked the Fabreal Duchy's farthest reach on Palisade's southern continent. Stargrave Elcessor uses its palace as her operations center and home when she is on planet. Brecheliant Forest: A vast, mysterious forest on Palisade's southern continent said to confuse even the most experience of travelers. The Paint Shop: Sitting atop the central peak of Steeple Catterick, most people assume the Paint Shop to be no more than an artist commune where visiting artists collaborate on eccentric and avant-garde work. In truth, it is both a manufactory and front for the Bilateral Intelligence Service. Divines Asepsis (it/its): The final living remnants of a Divine who pursues its particular vision of purity at the cost of everything else. Kept, studied, and utilized by Captain Kalvin Brnine. Recently confounded by BIS spy Zedd Z. Izzard. The Divine, Arbitrage (it/its): The amoral machine turned de facto treasurer keeps the Frontier Syndicate a step ahead in all matters of commerce. Sole minter of “glint,” a newly popular currency on Palisade. Mysteries The Iconoclasts: Something beyond the human, desperate to eradicate subjectivity itself. Chimera's Lantern: The second moon of Palisade, shaped oddly like a wasp's nest or paper lantern. New arrivals to the world find its occasional glow unnatural and frightening. Thisbe and the Figure found evidence that it could be tied to driving the bulk of ancient Divine Principality forces off of Palisade.
