This week on Scene Stealers "We're having too good a time today. We ain't thinking about tomorrow." That's at least the way we do it when it's Public Enemies Week. Leo and Charles can not wait to "Crack the Safe" and talk about Michael Mann's 2009 gangster film. Before they do, however, they go "Into the Vault" to talk about Jurrasic Park 3 and Forrest Gump. But the real highlight is talking about Public Enemies. It's our first Michael Mann heist movie and won't be the last. We're just glad we get to talk about the rise of gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. It's Christian Bale versus Johnny Depp. It's Chicago Gangsters. It's Michael Mann. It's Scene Stealers!
This week on Scene Stealers we are only supposed to blow the bloody doors off! Or at least, we hope to blow the bloody doors off. It's hard to predict with an episode this hot. For our “In the Vault” segment, Charles is channeling his adventurous spirit and talking about Raiders of the Lost Ark. Leo has righted a wrong and can finally discuss Kathryn Bigelow's thrilling futuristic trip in Strange Days. But the main event is what has been deemed a heist movie classic- The Italian Job (1969). It's Michael Caine putting a gang together to steal a ton of gold in three fiats. But does it live up to its “heist classic” status to Leo and Charles? Give a listen to Scene Stealers…
This week on Scene Stealers, Leo and Charles are stamp collectors. The movie is the Argentinian film Nine Queens. Charles opens up The Vault segment with his favorite “Dad movie” Draft Day. Leo goes beyond the grave with Tim Burton's 1988 classic Beetlejuice. We are cracking the safe and talking about the 2000 caper Nine Queens, directed by Fabian Bielinsky. The fact is that nobody can be trusted in this one, as two men connect over their ambitions to steal from anyone they can take, and look to make a big return on a set of rare stamps known as the Nine Queens. Give a listen because you will love this episode…trust me.
Where ya goin Frank? We hit 30 episodes this week on Scene Stealers and we do it with a big hit- Steven Spielberg's 2002 classic Catch Me If You Can. For The Vault segment, Leo takes a journey with Julia Roberts in the film Eat Pray Love and Charles is talking about Ben Affleck's Best Picture winner Argo. For the main segment- Leo and Charles discuss just how great the caper and life of a con man is in Catch Me If You Can, debate the many excellent roles of Tom Hanks, and where Catch Me If You Can lies in Steven Spielberg's filmography. The only question you need to answer this week, is "do you concur?"
In 2014, five tourists traveled to the United States to marvel at cacti in the national parks. But when it becomes clear they're doing more than just looking, U.S. Fish and Wildlife agents begin surveilling the suspects. In this episode, we examine how there's a thin line between passion… and obsession. Is there a difference between overzealous collection and callous crime? And does your motivation – whether pure admiration or a paycheck – matter?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Entrapment is what cops do to thieves…and it's also the movie we are talking about on Scene Stealers this week. Episode 28 is a lot of fun for Leo and Charles and they also celebrate 1-year of podcasting. In The Vault Leo withdraws Ben Affleck's newest film Air and Charles sings praise for the always great My Cousin Vinny. The main event is 1999s Entrapment with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery working together to pull off a pair of heists before the New Year. Give it a listen and you might hear a really great Sean Connery impression…
Everyone gets a Bobby pin this week on Scene Stealers! This week's episode is the Brett Ratner comedy Tower Heist. It has a big cast of actors like Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy but is it getting the coveted 5 bags of cash from Leo or Charles? In the vault Leo talks about Creed III and Charles shares his thoughts on The 40-Year-Old Virgin. It's another solid gold week of movies at Scene Stealers!
We just Drive this week on Scene Stealers. In the Vault we have Leo talking about two massive titans fighting in Godzilla vs. Kong and Charles is drowning us out with Noah Baumbach's newest film White Noise. The main feature is the ultra cool and collected Drive. Nicolas Winding Refn's 2011 neon lit noire is giving Leo and Charles all kinds of night moves. Ryan Gosling is behind the wheel as a stuntman who finds himself taking one too many jobs trying to help his neighbor. This episode has Leo rethinking his views on Drive and Charles expressing his love for the entire cast. Give it a listen!
Don't blink or you will miss a great episode of Scene Stealers. This week we are talking about the 2015 caper film Focus. In the Vault Leo is talking about The Quick & the Dead and Charles is talking about the all-time classic musical The Sound of Music. The main event is Focus- with Will Smith & Margot Robbie steaming up the windows and stealing your wallet when you're not looking. It's a lot of fun but keep your Focus on Scene Stealers!
The Cops, the Fuzz, the rogue agent, the crooked officer, or the detective determined to get the criminal. There are always two sides to a heist- the criminals and the law trying to take them down. You can't talk about heist movies without having a love and appreciation for the men and women trying to foil a good caper and this special episode of Scene Stealers has Charles and Leo listing some of their favorite characters of Law Enforcement. I guess the only question now is if you feel lucky? If you do then give it a listen...punk!
HO! HO! Heistmas! A Merry Heistmas to everyone this week from Scene Stealers! Charles and Leo are in the holiday spirit, giving out 12-Gifts of Heistmas and we even get a special visit from Santa Claus. We pull a few Christmas movies out of the vault featuring the new sequel A Christmas Story Christmas and the Will Ferrell classic Elf. The big one this week is Violent Night. It's a 90's throwback which involves Santa David Harbour taking out some bad guys trying to steal a lot of cash. It's the perfect movie to do for our very first Holiday Heistmas! Seasons Greetings to all! And to all a good Heist!
Oh baby! Scene Stealers is back and ready to ride. This week Leo and Charles are pumping the tunes and moving to the beat with Edgar Wright's 2017 hit Baby Driver. In the Vault this week Leo is talking about the new director's cut of the 1997 film Going All the Way. Charles brings Black Panther: Wakanda Forever out of his vault and celebrates the life of Chadwick Boseman. The main event is Baby Driver with the headphones in and Leo & Charles nodding they're head, dissecting cool chase sequences, deciding if it better the second time around, and the cool factor of Jamie Foxx. Seat belts on. It's Scene Stealers.
We are making it a Noir November on Scene Stealers, going back to talk about 1959's Odds Against Tomorrow. The Vault is about vampires and high school football, with Leo talking about Joel Schumacher's 1987 hit The Lost Boys and Charles is dancing in the end zone for 1999's Varsity Blues. The safe is cracked wide open for a great discussion about Robert Wise's Odds Against Tomorrow starring Harry Belafonte and Robert Ryan, in what has proven to be a heist movie far ahead of its time, but rich with themes that will spark much debate. The stakes are high but the Odds are always in the favor of Scene Stealers…
We have a guest this week on Scene Stealers! Film critic Kevin Wozniak from KevFlix and fellow member of the Chicago Indie Critics joins Leo and Charles to talk about director Steven Soderbergh's 2021 noir style hit No Sudden Move. It's an episode filled to the brim. We open the vault and discover three very different movies- Leo talks about Roland Emmerich's Universal Soldier, Kevin celebrates Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Charles talks about the short film about Jeremy Lin with 38 at the Garden. Inside the safe is another movie from Steven Soderbergh, whose films are becoming recurring events on Scene Stealers, but only this time it's a heist movie with a lot of characters that can't be trusted. Leo, Charles, and Kevin try to keep it all together and stay still on Scene Stealers.
It's another exciting week on Scene Stealers because we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Jackie Brown! Charles is keeping it in the Halloween spirit for his choice from the Vault with Hocus Pocus 2, while Leo talks about a fun night out with his mom watching 1952's Singin' in the Rain. As for cracking the safe, it's a big take with one of Quentin Tarantino's more under appreciated films- 1997's Jackie Brown. The discussion ranges from debates about who delivers the best performance, the coolness of Pam Grier, and where it sits among Tarantino's other films. When you absolutely, positively got to listen to a heist movie podcast, accept no substitutes- Scene Stealers!
We are only bringing Sugar & Spice and all things nice on Scene Stealers. First off, The Vault segment has a mix of conversations with Leo talking about a night out with the family at the Alamo Drafthouse screening of The Lion King at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Charles is conflicted on Paul Schrader's The Card Counter especially with his love of all thing's poker. The safe is cracked wide open with the 2001 cheerleaders turned bank robber comedy Sugar & Spice. Leo and Charles profess their appreciation for James Marsden and any movie that teaches you to study heist movies. Plus we all know that cheerleaders kick…butt.
We review every and any heist movie over at Scene Stealers…and that includes Money Plane! This week we are talking high stakes in the sky. The trip into The Vault has Leo talking about the recent mockumentary comedy Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul. And Charles gets all romantic with 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You. But the main event is a wild one, because we are talking about the 2020 low-budget heist movie Money Plane. It stars Adam “Edge” Copeland, Kelsey Grammar, and Thomas Jane, in a heist movie that will certainly hold its place in the young history of Scene Stealers. Now bring me my money!
The Grift is on this week on Scene Stealers. We open The Vault for something new and something groovy. Leo talks about Idris Elba vs. a lion in the ferocious new film Beast, while Charles takes out Roll Bounce and asks for a new evaluation on this guilty pleasure. But the Safe is Cracked for the main event- Stephen Frears wickedly deceptive caper from 1990- The Grifters- which is certainly a new kind of heist movie for Leo and Charles to discuss. With a trio of slick performances from Anjelica Huston, John Cusack, and Annette Bening, every character is looking for the next score, but you can always trust the guidance of Scene Stealers.
It's Ocean's Eleven for Episode Eleven! Scene Stealers is getting the whole gang together, Clooney, Pitt, Roberts, Cheadle, Damon, Gainey, and Brady. We go into the vault first to talk about 1989's Road House and Clint Eastwood's 2003 drama Mystic River. But when we Crack the Safe this week it's a big take with Steven Soderbergh's slick 2001 heist revision of Ocean's Eleven. This episode is jam packed with heist hijinks and an expression of our endless love for the entire Ocean's Eleven gang.
The "Guy in the chair", "the hacker", or "the wizard with technology", these are some of our favorite characters to see in a heist movie. Today we are in Mission Control, dropping a special episode of Scene Stealers for the men and women doing the heist work behind the scenes. Leo & Charles give their top 5 characters in the Tech/Gadget archetypes.
This week on Scene Stealers we give it a 10! It's the 10th episode of Scene Stealers and there's only one way to do it and that is big. In The Vault this week Leo is talking about the success of the sci-fi sequel The Matrix Reloaded and Charles is playing the right numbers with the Paramount+ film Jerry and Marge Go Large. But the main event this week we are talking about the criminally underappreciated heist movie- Widows. Director Steve McQueen's 2018 drama brought an all-star cast together, with Viola Davis leading the charge in this tense and tight drama about four women getting money before some bad guys get them first. We had to make Widows the 10th Episode of Scene Stealers because no-one thinks we have the balls to pull this off...Now listen to Scene Stealers.
There is magic in the air! This week Leo and Charles take a minute to celebrate the lives of James Caan and Tony Sirico. Then we Open the Vault to talk about the legendary classic The Godfather and 2014's Tom Cruise sci-fi banger Edge of Tomorrow. The big show is all about 2013's magicians heist movie- Now You See Me and in a Scene Stealers first, Leo and Charles are not exactly seeing things eye-to-eye. There's nothing up our sleeves this week on Scene Stealers!
Nobody stops the Scene Stealers train! It's Money Train week at Scene Stealers! Charles and Leo open The Vault with praise for the recent Adam Sandler Netflix basketball flick Hustle and talk about poker with 1965's The Cincinnati Kid; But the main event is 1995's Money Train! Charles and Leo get into why Joseph Ruben's buddy-action-heist movie works better today than when it arrived at the station, profess their love for Jennifer Lopez, and dissect the ridiculousness that is Money Train.

Put your hands on the Oodles of Noodles because it's Blue Streak Week at Scene Stealers! Charles and Leo open The Vault and talk about Antoine Fuqua's Shooter, and both shower the praise they have for Ridley Scott's American Gangster. But the big diamond this week is Les Mayfield's Blue Streak, the 1999 jewel thief turned cop comedy, which has Charles singing his praise for the comedy genius of Martin Lawrence, Leo and Charles loving the carefree nature of the comedy and wishing for more just like it. Don't call the federales! Listen to Scene Stealers!
It's complete BAY-HEM at Scene Stealers this week! First off, Leo and Charles go into The Vault and talk about Michael Bay's The Rock and David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook. Then they attempt to Crack the Safe with Michael Bay's 2022 heist turned into car chase thriller Ambulance. It's a non-stop thrill ride that leads to Leo and Charles discussing the career of Michael Bay, how someone could perform surgery with a hair clip, and the ridiculousness of all things Ambulance. https://twitter.com/_SceneStealers_https://www.instagram.com/scenestealerspod/
This week on SceneStealers, we go into the vault to see how much David Fincher's 'Fight Club' holds up and show appreciation for the underdogs in 'The Replacements'. Leo and Charles then crack the safe and take off with the 90's Heist classic 'Set It Off', discussing the amazing talents of the four leading ladies and F. Gary Gray's impressive direction. We're not robbing stagecoaches. We're ready to Set it Off!
This week on SceneStealers, we discuss transformations in the vault with 'An American Werewolf in London' & 'Turning Red'. Leo and Charles then crack the safe and discuss the 50 Year Anniversary of the Heist adventure 'The Getaway.' This early classic sparks discussion about Steve McQueen's cool demeanor and director Sam Peckinpah's gritty style.
This week on SceneStealers, we go Into the Vault to talk about Double Team and Leon: The Professional, and Leo and Charles crack the safe and discuss the Netflix heist thriller Triple Frontier. This guy's trip turned easy score opens the discussion up about director J.C. Chandor's unique depiction of greed and friendship. Plus, Leo and Charles discuss Ben Affleck's recent revival in Hollywood.
