This week on Scene Stealers, Leo & Charles use a time machine to open the vault and discuss Alfred Hitchcock's 1946 thriller Notorious and Rian Johnson's 2012 Sci-Fi hit Looper. They crack the safe and dive into the deep cast of complicated characters for John Hillcoat's Triple 9.
Although its screenplay is a mess and it's a bit of a fail, for fans of grimey, hard-boiled, Training Day-esque cop pot-boilers, there's just far too much on offer here for it not to be worthwhile. The often brilliant Aussie-director John Hillcoat and an insane cast for a start.

"There is no limit to what desperate men will do when pushed." We call the Filmboard a gang of thugs, but we've got nothing on the crew from Triple 9, a violent cop drama from 2016 directed by John Hilcoat. With both the Marvel and DC cinematic universes represented as well as The Walking Dead, this film has a slew of familiar faces. We have corrupt cops working one last heist for the mafia, and needing to sacrifice one of their own to do it. From early on this films delivers on action and adrenaline, but can the story and actors deliver an appropriate finish? How many times has Woody Harrelson played a law enforcement role? Why are accents such a problem for some actors? And if the Filmboard ever needed a sacrificial lamb, would we pick JJ or Tommy? The "weeper" "You Before Me" starring GOT's Emilia Clarke (but no dragons) and Hunger Games' Sam Claflin may be aimed towards a female audience but that doesn't stop Neil Rosen, Bill McCuddy and Bill Bregoli from giving their (very divided) opinions on it. We also hear what the two stars and author/screenwriter JoJo Moyes have to say about making it. But we don't stop there. We also take on "Manhattan Night" and the historical biopic "Race" as well as the ensemble drama "Triple Nine."

On this second episode of The Film Find this week we finally catch up to where we should be. This episode we talk GODS OF EGYPT, TRIPLE 9 and EDDIE THE EAGLE.
On the fourth episode of Film Fallout, Chris and Dylan get double-crossed by John Hillcoat with our review of Triple 9. There is a huge cast here and the guys talk about how a director can elevate a film's script, but sometimes that doesn't help all that much. There's also the Oscars to talk about, which means plenty of surprises and disappointments to discuss. That makes up all of the news discussion, but Dylan also saw Where to Invade Next and the Chinese blockbuster The Mermaid from Stephen Chow. Next week we will be reviewing London has Fallen. Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloud, iTunes, or on BagoGames.
Tom and Dave review John Hillcoat's latest crime-thriller, Triple 9.
On this episode we play good cop, bad cop with COP LAND and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. These two modern classics about cops using other cops for criminal gain make it hard to play bad cop so we look to interrogate new release TRIPLE 9, and see if there is more to praise other than our undying love for Casey Affleck.
This week on See You Next Wednesday, Casey and Greg call in a Triple 9 and go check out the star-studded crime-drama from director John Hillcoat while Dan tries to escape the Gods of Egypt from probably-self-proclaimed-visionary-director Alex Proyas. Is the former an over-stuffed and over-ambitious mess? Is the latter the best video game movie not to be based on a video game? You'll find out on the show, and the answers just might surprise you! Finally, we check out Don't Stop or We'll Die's first full-length effort, Gorgeous. But first, we talk about the Oscars, review a handful of movies, chat about the upcoming Wolverine comic-book adaptation, and so much more! Show Notes: • Letters from Listeners (1:40) • Wolverine & Old Man Logan Adaptation (5:49) • Making a Murderer Season 2 (11:15) • Dan Watched The Thin Blue Line (13:55) • Casey Watches BBC's River (16:30) • Greg Reviews He Never Died (19:20) • The Academy Awards 2016 (25:12) • Casey Reviews Brooklyn (38:00) • Casey Finally Saw The Iron Giant... Gods of Egypt, Eddie the Eagle, and Triple 9. We’re joined again by Brooks Bird of The Cinenerd’s REEL Voice and Brooke Heym. Gods of Egypt is horrible and worthy of all the scorn heaped on it. Tony Baker talks about Flint, MIchigan, the Oscars & the movie "Triple 9"
The title of Triple 9 comes from a police code, 999, that means an officer is down and urgently in need of help.
It's the end of Indiecast Week and in anticipation of tomorrow's Oscars, Bernard and CJ share their picks for who should and will win! Also, two special guests join the show as director John Hillcoat and Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul talk about their new crime-thriller, Triple 9, out in theaters now. Bernard shares his impressions of the film and the boys offer two more Indie Picks of the Week. What more could you want? We hope you enjoyed Indiecast Week as much as we did!
A group of five ex-special ops guys now working in Atlanta as criminals, but most novel about the situation is that some of them are also cops. The film opens with the group perpetrating an elaborate bank heist in order to get the contents of a specific safety deposit box for a powerful Russian/Israeli mafia. The men are told that this is the last operation they're indebted to do, but its apparently not enough for what that mafia needs, and they coerce the men to put their lives on the line one more time to extract some data from highly guarded government building that will be a magnet for all police in the area to respond to once they get a call. The men know it's far from a typical smash and grab, so they decide that what they need to do is buy some time to keep the cops at bay, and the surest way to do that is to stage a "triple 9" (officer down), which will shake up the hornets nest of police while they go in and do the heist with some leeway.
Aaron and Sean are pumped about the all-star cast in the underhyped crime thriller TRIPLE 9. Is it worth the trip to the theater? One other flick definitely is, as long as you're down with incredibly disturbing stuff — THE WITCH, which gets a review in this week's Extra Butter segment.
This week the guys give you the lowdown on their recording equipment, before Kris shares why the atrocious GODS OF EGYPT left him feeling rattled. Part of it has to do with its 120 minutes of confusing plot and Gerard Butler's mysterious decision to use his Scottish accent. The whole experience left Kris too depressed to chide a fellow theatergoer for using his phone during the picture, so he decides to pass the mic. Next Dave and Evan review TRIPLE 9, a movie that with lots of good killin' and great action. Kate Winslet does a terrible Russian accent, the film is overstuffed with plot, and goes along too long, but Woody Harrelson is amazing, even if he could play his role in his sleep. Finally, the guys fulfill their promise from last episode of revisiting Tim Burton's BATMAN. Dave and Evan go over the massive plot holes, continuity errors, and other various things that bother them from their most recent viewing, although they do take some time to talk about what they still love about the movie in spite of those shortcomings.

Dai Impossible, Welsh Superspy This week we are down a Ryan but gain a surprising amount of Comic trivia along the way. In off the Shelf, we continue our look at the filmography of Vera Chytilova with Second Run's release of Something Different, Rob looked at the baffling Marxist crow of a film that is Pasolini's Hawks and Sparrows before Aidan subjected himself to the outright horror that is Bula Quo. Our film of the week was John Hillcoat's Triple 9 - a very misleading title for us Brits.
Seemingly the 4th instalment is the worst in most movie franchises, so luckily The Geekly Digest isn't a movie! Mark and Owen go through a mammoth amount of news, enough to make a true Geek tremble at the knees...... they've got it all, Marvel, Star wars and even Kindergarten Cop 2. The boys also discuss The X files and how episode 2 of season 10 is much better than last weeks. The big movie reviews are Goosebumps and Triple 9 (listen out for Mark and Owen loosing it completely and being unable to control their laughter while reviewing Triple 9) Stick around to the end for The Post Credit Spoiler of The Walking Dead 0609.
