This week's episode is dedicated to the memory of legendary guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and film and television composer Wayne Kramer, who passed away recently. Wayne was far more influential than many realize as his band MC5 basically invented punk rock a full decade before it even emerged as a genre. The band and its albums became a model for punk bands on both sides of the Atlantic. In fact, The Clash even wrote not one, but two songs about him! A formidable player, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Wayne as one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. He also collaborated with a who's who of rock's most elite artists over the years, and his scoring work can be heard on films like Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, the HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down, ESPN's 5-4-3-2-1, In My Own Words, and Under The Lights, and even for the “Unlabeled” Jim Beam commercial. Musical accolades are well and good, but I think what Wayne was most proud of was the fact that he was able to overcome his personal trials with drugs and jail time. He emerged from this darkness transformed, and then went on to save countless lives through his tireless acts of service. He was extremely passionate about his work with Jail Guitar Doors, a program that provides guitars and music lessons for inmates at more than 50 penal institutions throughout the United States. Through the years, he regularly played concerts with an all-star band at prisons around the country. During this interview from January 6th, 2022, we talked about why musicians from Detroit have a special edge to them, why the MC5 was banned from radio, how going to prison saved his life, getting into film scoring, and much more. This is a replay of an interview that I did with Wayne via Zoom from his studio in Los Angeles. var podscribeEmbedVars = { epId: 96191804, backgroundColor: 'white', font: undefined, fontColor: undefined, speakerFontColor: undefined, height: '600px', showEditButton: false, showSpeakers: true, showTimestamps: true };

When Bruce Wade was a child, his mother made him a Batsuit, and the superhero avatar stuck with him, given the similarities between Bruce Wayne and Bruce Wade. In any good comic book storyline, there is a conflict between the superhero and the villain. However, in business, the strongest “villain'' is not a slow economy, government red tape, or even Covid. It's the person in the mirror. It's your own self-doubt. Bruce believes that business is an adventure and he loves being businesses' Business Strategy Adventurer. He sees this role not as simply a walk or model; rather, he helps business owners develop a strategy to overcome their lack of growth, develop new products and services, and ultimately build a strategy of freedom to overcome barriers. He first heard of the PSA while gatecrashing a speaker's showcase event whom he looked up to. That event opened doors, and since joining in 2019 he experienced the wisdom and knowledge of other speakers and wished to do the same for new members. In October 2020, Bruce became a Professional Member of the PSA. This episode of In My Own Words is presented by Charles Hsuan.

In this episode, i give an opinionate analysis on Ne-Yo's first album. Ne-Yo is a well established American singer/songwriter, award winning and nominated artist. I have loved his music for 10+ years and counting. Like many of you, I’ve had crushes on musicians because it’s just expected. Their music touches you in a way and you just want to hear more. Each song of this first album "In My Own Words" has a story to tell and I think that each story is connected like a rom-com or a drama movie. This one guy goes through the heartaches and heartbreaks as well as the ups and downs of relationships and singlehood. Join in as I try to connect each song to one another and give an interesting take on the album that introduces my love for this artist. For this week's Quick Words episode, I'm reviewing the Netflix original series, The Witcher. (Don't worry, no spoilers....this time). I'm talking about the shows production, popularity, and possible link to the fumble of Game of Thrones. Grab and pint, toss a coin to your Witcher, and let out a hardy "Hm." we're diving in, as always, In My Own Words. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
As talented as Alabama will be entering the Citrus Bowl, Michigan is hopeful to gain its 10th win of the year versus the Crimson Tide. It did not finish the regular season the way it wanted to, but this is an opportunity for Nick Saban and company to set the right tone for 2020. While players have said the right things all week in practice, Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines will approach the matchup with a killer’s mentality. In this edition of In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine breaks down five players for Michigan to study for this game. A huge domino has fell into place for Alabama as its petition for Joshua McMillon’s sixth-year was granted on last week. The redshirt senior did not play this season, due to a serious knee injury in August camp. Also, last week (Saturday) marked the 13-year anniversary of the biggest fib told by Nick Saban as he said he ‘would not be the Alabama coach’ back in 2006. In Sunday’s edition of In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine breaks down the McMillon update and then touches on the fib that became a major blessing for Alabama football. After three years at Florida Atlantic University, Lane Kiffin has returned to the Southeastern Conference as the head coach of Ole Miss. According to different reports, he has wanted this opportunity to get back due to him being ‘upset’ over how he was fired at Alabama. He is ready to challenge Nick Saban in every way and possibly be the first assistant to topple him. While this all seems negative, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine is live on In My Own Words and he takes you a small timeline of Kiffin’s career. He also dives into how Saban’s latest challenger could actually be the biggest help to him in continuing his chase of national championships with the Crimson Tide. Even when Alabama is not playing, the conversation tends to find itself on the Crimson Tide. In the final installment of CFP rankings, the committee dropped Alabama to No. 13 — making a case of it being 12 schools better than the Tide. This was the final piece of evidence in proving the “Alabama fatigue” is real and Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine explains on In My Own Words to conclude this week’s edition of shows.
