Jean Watson has been given a gift. It’s heard in her music and felt in her gentle presence. Jean plays violin with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, hosts an internationally broadcast radio show, tours across the country and around the world both as a performing artist and as a sought-after speaker. She also recently released her 12th album, Behold (Carols of Worship) and her first book, Everything Can Change in Forty Days. Twenty years ago, as a single mom raising four kids and trying to make ends meet, her landlord gifted her a Christmas tree. As he was delivering the tree he heard a recording of her singing that brought him to tears. He told her, “I don’t know what you are doing with your life but I think this is it!” He told her to use that month’s rent money to record. And she did. Jean shares her wrestling, surrendering journey to find God’s purpose, the God-ordained moments along the way, and the overarching theme that God has a plan for your life and if you will trust Him and obey He will lead you right into it.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Singer, songwriter, violinist, and recording artist Jean Watson joins the team to share how Jesus keeps on creating beauty out of the ashes of her life. First Jean had always dreamed of being a professional musician. She did the hard work from the time she was a child to get there. But before it really even started, it crashed and burned. That's when she cried out: “God help!” Then, God used Jean's landlord to launch her international ministry. Next, during Covid Jesus stripped away all that Jean was doing for him to show her that her identity comes from him, not what she does for him. Then, if Jesus is calling you out of your comfort zone, take the risk. Jean did and it was really hard but the rewards have been amazing. Next, a conversation about how to find joy in what we do without making that thing we do an idol. Then, Jean was in a high security prison in Ireland, the inmate in the front row was yelling at her in anger. That's when Jean knelt in front of this guy and sang to him, “Give Me Jesus.” Finally how Jesus rescued Jean's son from cocaine addiction. Please share today's show! I recently heard some talk in spiritual communities about cannabis and how it possibly harshes our evolution. I'll admit, I was a little bit triggered when I first heard this. I felt for a moment that what I'd come to understand as my truth, (using cannabis as medicine and as a portal to divine connection and expansion), was under the microscope. I think is there's a lot of misunderstanding of cannabis, cannabis as medicine, cannabis as an entheogen. What I was hearing from some within the spiritual community, didn't line up with what I had learned and experienced and it was confusing. Cannabis, in many ways, opened a portal so I could see how to save my own life. So, I did what has become a foundational transformational process for me and I took it to the podcast to ask the burning question I had on my mind about cannabis and spirituality. I thought, “why not interview somebody that I know that has some lived experience in that area?” I reached out to my friend Sherri Tutkus, RN, BSN, Green Nurse, former podcast guest, to see if she'd have this discussion with me. (I will continue interviewing individuals who are interested in sharing their “story” of how their lived experiences, of all shades, let them to stepping more fully into their soul's purpose.)From a very young age, Sherri was connected and had some experiences with the divine. What followed from my initial query is a beautiful discussion with her just blowing my mind with the things she's experienced and where she's gone and come back from to be a shining light and a heck of a guide for others. Through her combo of traditional medical education, deep lived experience as a patient, nurse, mother, medical cannabis patient, psychedelic explorer and guide, podcaster, businesswoman, and friend to many, her depth of insight is epic. I learned a lot and realized I had the answer within, which it always is, needing a little context & connection to spring it loose. Let's hope you can find some valuable insight as well. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Jean Watson about new album WONDER. About the Album: "The music on WONDER is the most authentically 'me' music I have ever recorded," Watson says. "I believe the music is quite accessible to both the faith-based and general markets, and the opportunity to partner with Naxos to get the music into the hands of music lovers is huge." "Naxos has great reach into the world music marketplace, so for the first time, my music has the possibility to be offered to audiences beyond the Christian market," she continues. "How amazing to think that people may listen to this music because they love the sound and be drawn closer to God in the process!" WONDER represents something of a defining moment for the classically-trained singer/songwriter and instrumentalist, who is a fan favorite in the UK. She is especially popular in Ireland, where she has long hosted a daily inspirational radio show which can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland. So, her affinity for Celtic sound comes as no surprise. Producer Billy Smiley, who has worked with Watson on her last two projects, suggested highlighting her Celtic-flavored songs and ethereal violin performances on the new CD and moving toward a more world music sound. In doing so, Watson discovered a glorious opportunity to simply be herself, both artistically and spiritually. Sporting a world music sound that falls lithely between the ethereal, yearning Celtic sound of Maire Brennan and the graceful, poetic lyricism of Enya, Watson deftly tightwalks a line that stretches between ancient themes of grace and mercy, and is anchored by contemporary declarations of worship and adoration. There are exuberant expressions of praise ("Blessed Be Your Name"), hymns of hope ("I Can Hear Your Voice"), psalms of yearning ("Restless"), songs of surrender to the perfect will of the Father ("It Is Well"), and testimonies to the mercy and grace of God ("Everything Can Change," "Amazing Grace"). Whether invested in ardent celebration or lost in pensive worship, there is a humble honesty that runs through each song, that binds them together and points both listener and singer toward the throne of God. WONDER has an otherworldly, ethereal, moving quality which penetrates the heart and transports the listener into an attitude of worship. In keeping with the world music direction of WONDER, Watson has enlisted the services of a number of musicians from around the globe, including South African John Ellis of Tree63 and former Newsboys drummer Peter Furler from Australia. Steve Hindalong from The Choir provides percussion, and as a special treat, Christian music legend Michael W. Smith appears as a guest accompanist as Watson performs Smith's hit, "I Can Hear Your Voice." "I am so grateful for this opportunity for my music to reach a wider audience," says Watson. "I can't wait to see what God will do with WONDER!" About Jean Watson: Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Jean Watson delved into the Christian recording world in 2003. During a time of great brokenness in Jean's life, her landlord accidentally heard her sing and donated money to make her first CD! She gave the CD away to anyone who would listen and soon was singing and speaking in churches, coffeehouses, homeless shelters, and prisons, sharing the story of how God was transforming her life. Since that time, Jean's voice and testimony of God's grace and healing have touched thousands of lives around the world. She has recorded seven albums to date including her latest CD, Steady My Gaze featuring Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley, guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy, and John Ellis of ‘Tree63'. Jean's musical style is eclectic and features an abundance of celtic-infused violin and Watson's signature haunting vocals. She has been honored four times as the Best Female Praise and Worship Artist USA by the UK Christian Music Alliance. Watson can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio show. Watson has appeared on The 700 Club, TBN's Praise The Lord, Cornerstone Television Network's flagship show, Real Life, LeSea TV's The Harvest Show, CTN's Bridges and many more media outlets across the globe. Though her ministry is now international, Jean is still passionate about bringing hope to the hopeless through words and music. Having performed in majestic cathedrals and grand concert halls, her favorite venues are still homeless shelters and prisons. When she is not traveling, Jean enjoys playing violin in the Kalamazoo Symphony, spending time with her family, and riding her horse, Rosie. John Schlitt began singing when he was just five years old, performing the leads in recitals and plays in his school. By the time he was thirteen, he was in the unforgettably titled band Vinegar Hills Hometown Band Something Different – being paid twenty-five bucks as lead singer. It soon became clear that a career in music was in John's future. John Schlitt officially joined Petra in 1986, bringing with him his amazing vocal range and abilities that made him a legend with Head East. While John is arguably one of the most powerful vocalists around, his mightiest cry is the cry of his heart. Whether onstage or up close and personal, John's voice is one of a truly changed soul. And his music is and always will be a reflection of God's love and redeeming power.

My two guest, Robert Browning, HM Director of Project Development for HeartMath and Jean Watson, PhD of the Watson Caring Science Institute, have years of experience, knowledge and ability to lead a lively discussion about what caring for our health is all about and why the ability to care – an attribute of the heart – is so important. This major paradigm conversation is reshaping healthcare among professionals and patients alike. We all have a stake in assisting the medical model to become more ‘heart’ centered – the place true healing begins.
