You've been moved by Robert Tepper. His work creating the artwork we all see for the entertainment we love is burned in your consciousness. As a Creative Director working on the art for movies featuring Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump), Marlon Brando (The Freshman), Robert De Niro, Amy Schumer, Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) and animated features like Moana as well as The Masked Singer on Fox, Robert tells a story in a single visual that makes you stop, pay attention spend your money. Robert shares stories about the process of this work as well as stories about a photoshoot with Brando, one with De Niro; and we take a look behind the scenes at a part of the world of entertainment most of us know nothing about. We'll also discuss the state of work and new life in the office.
On this week's brand new edition of Dueling Decades, we welcome back our first four-time judge! The incredible Robert Tepper returns to share some more rock n' roll stories and decide what year had the best September 1975, 1985, or 1995! Robert is one of our favorite judges here on the show and after this rock n' roll rollercoaster of an episode, we know he will be yours as well! Marc James is so excited for his picks this week he is shivering with antici…..pation! Hopefully, the best offerings from September 1975 won't let him down. We are not sure if the real Mancrush showed up to compete this week or if it was just an imposter but either way give him a roll of duct tape, a safety pin, and the best picks from September 1985 and he might just win this battle! Meanwhile, The Media King of the North Joe Findlay really wants to know what's in the box and if the best of September 1995 will lead him to victory this week! Do you agree with Robert's rulings? Dan & Manny put music from 5 movies from the 1980s to the ultimate test--THE NOSTALGIA TEST. Our nostalgia-obsessed hosts discuss the songs:
With Marc turning 43 this week, we're ready for a retro birthday extravaganza! So for a birthday bash, we needed someone who knows the crew really well. A man that takes no prisoners, believes there's no easy way out, the angel of the city himself, Robert Tepper! This cast favorite is back for his third appearance behind the bench, and as usual, he proves that he's "Better Than the Rest" when it comes to judging. Tepper swings the gavel harder than most, and even proclaimed "I love this show! Who else talks about this sh%t?! It's unbelievable!" Well, here to deliver more copious amounts of excrement, Mike Ranger brings the very best from his 13th birthday in, 1995! Mike Ranger is followed up this week by a man on a wicked losing streak, Mancrush travels back to his 6th birthday in 1984 looking to strike pay dirt. Rounding out the competition, it's the birthday boy himself, Marc James with his actual birthdate in 1978! Happy birthday Marc! Once again, Robert Tepper doesn't disappoint behind the bench. The guys have never actually met Robert, but it sounds like they've known him forever! In this episode, you may hear something about Marc wishing he was born in Iowa, Bakula sparkles on WPIX, Mancrush spends a weekend with Diane Lane, Tepper loses his mind at a Phish show, Chris Isaak gets overpaid, a band that doesn't pander to fans, Dr. Ben Casey falls through the stage, Mancrush's plea to Major League Baseball, a man gets unexpectantly blown in his car, nerds with lots of money, an unconventional convention, Mike Ranger makes a call to his past resignations, simple lives aren't simple, tennis with Dave Grohl, the Ranger family goes to the drive-in, bypass patch cords for everyone, DLR asks for a bump, Zeke and Jerry turn to crime for the American dream, and why the hell are we headed to Lancaster Pennsylvania?! Do you agree with Tepper's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! Song: Into The NightSong by: Benny MardonesPodcast vocals: Gail NoblesKeyboard: Gail NoblesOther music: royalty freePhoto credit: Michi Moore Photography/flickr.comUsage: CC BY 2.0https://flic.kr/p/8EBG8AGood evening! It's Gail Nobles from the CAT BEAR. Tonight I'm thinking of Benny Mardones, and I'm thinking of his song, Into The Night. If I could flyI'd pick you upI'd take you into the nightAnd show you a loveLike you've never seen.Into the night hit the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart twice in 1980 (#11) and again in 1989 (#20). Mardones co-wrote the 1980 soft rock hit with Robert Tepper. Benny Mardones said: "It's about a young girl 16 yrs. old who use to walk my dog every morning before school and her family. And the father abandoned them. She came to get the dog one morning. We were up all night writing, and as she walked out, Robert said, "Oh my goodness." And I said, "She's just 16 yrs old. Leave her alone." And I said, "Play that lick again and I went .. She's just 16 yrs old ......"Announcer: The song is about abandonment of kids. It was not about Benny with a 16 yrs. old girl. Benny Mardones: She was like a kid sister to me. Her and her brother and her sister.Announcer: As we listen to the song, we hear it as romantic. So there is more explanation to it. Run through the streets of Scotland or drive through the hills of Italy. Swing from the tallest New York skyscrapers while a ferocious monster terrorizes London's porno district. Groove to that futuristic disco beat and save the galaxy with punk rock. All that and more, plus: Queen, James Bond, and the most superfluous scene in Rocky IV! Track list “Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop from Trainspotting “No Easy Way Out” by Robert Tepper from Rocky IV “Don't Stop Me Now” by Queen from Shaun of the Dead “What's Up Danger” by Blackway and Black Caviar from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse “You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell from Casino Royale “Moondance” by Van Morrison from An American Werewolf in London “Something Kinda Funky” by Stu Phillips from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century “Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways from Guardians of the Galaxy “You Give a Little Love” by Paul Williams from Bugsy Malone “La Bamba” by Los Lobos from La Bamba “Getta Bloomin' Move On! Welcome back to another episode of Dueling Decades! We needed a celebrity judge with some Dueling Decades experience this week, so we called our buddy Robert Tepper to help us judge this nostalgic battle! Judge Tepper becomes our first three-time celebrity judge, so we decided to give him some super judicial powers. On this week's episode, its "judge's choice". I know, what the hell is "Judge's choice"!? Well, before this retro battle between the 80s & 90s begins, Robert will have to tell us if this is going to be "Best week" rules or "Worst week" rules! That said, Marc and Mancrush come into this matchup totally blind! They are forced to try and mitigate the damage from going all-in on an awesome month, or a turd month. Ultimately, this is a really honest snapshot of April 1988 and April 1999! We got an elite martial artist's debut, alien bounty hunters and drunks, someone got stuck in a closet with Vanna White, a monumental album you probably didn't realize was monumental, Tony Danza & Debbie Gibson share some slime, someone grabbed Thor's hammer, the best way to cure STDs, strange scientific patents, mortgage your home to purchase a VHS tape, tight leather pants, and frosted tips, awful tragedies, tales from Coffee Bean, rubber sheet alarm upgrades, the attitude era, more frosted tips, cultish cartoons, celebrity bowling tournaments with Robert, a trip to death row and much much more! Do you agree with Judge Tepper's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! Please don't forget to subscribe and review! Want to share some of your own 1980s & 1990s memories? Imagine getting only one chance at the big time and it not working out. That can't be easy to deal with, but that's what happened to this week's guest, Tom Croucier of the band Life By Night. Tom's career started picking up steam in the early 80s when he played with both Scorpions and Dokken (his brother Juan is in Ratt), so when he fronted his own band that was equal parts rock and new wave, it seemed like a slam dunk. The result is the 1985 Life By Night album that featured the closest they came to a hit with the song "Phone to Phone." Sadly, the album fell into obscurity and Tom never got a second chance as a major label recording artist. Here, Tom shares his stories from his time on the big stage, the many personalities he worked and played with (including former guest Robert Tepper) and what he did when the music career ended. Tom's a great guy and Life By Night deserve a rediscovery.
Steve Cooper talks with musician Robert Tepper. Robert is best known for his hit song No Easy Way Out from the Rocky IV motion picture soundtrack. He started to get recognition as a song writer with his first Top 40 hit recorded by Paul Anka, This Is Love which went on to earn an ASCAP award. He later he teamed up with fellow singer Benny Mardones to help with his hit album Never Run, Never Hide. On that record was the iconic song Into The Night. Since then he has recorded 5 solo albums and music has appeared in such hit films and TV shows such as Cobra, Get Hard, South Park and Breaking Bad.

This month we welcome back the fantastic Robert Tepper (ep66) to discuss his 1986 debut album No Easy Way Out. True, the title track from Rocky 4 is one of the greatest AOR songs ever and was a decent-sized hit, but when it came time to release the full album his label was on to other things. We discuss the creation of the songs, who played on them, and how royally Scotti Bros. botched this thing! In addition, Robert releases his new solo album Better Than The Rest today! We also get into that and hear a couple tunes. Robert's the man and you're going to enjoy this one! http://www.roberttepperworld.com/

I catch up with singer-songwriter Robert Tepper, who is best known for No Easy Way Out, which was featured on the Rocky IV soundtrack. Robert talks about how his album of the same name was impacted as a result of the soundtrack. Before landing on the soundtrack, Robert collaborated with Benny Mardones on Into The Night, which charted twice. Robert has released some fantastic albums. His latest, Better Than The Rest, comes out September 27th.

Soundtrack Six-Pack, Volume One Do you have favorite songs that are buried in films and on soundtracks from yesteryear? So do we and lots and lots and LOTS of them! So we're breaking out the VCRs and dusting off the old vinyl to launch a new sidecast series presenting short, sweet, and random collections of soundtrack gems. Hosts Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, Joe Royland of Sit & Spin with Joe, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods each bring two songs to share, hence the six-pack. Not a ton of research, not a ton of pontificating, just three friends sharing some of the greatest (albeit often obscure) soundtrack songs the world has ever known. In Volume One, we're unpacking some classics by Pete Shelley, Chris Cornell, masters of 1979 funk Bell & James, Robert Tepper, Force On Network, and Tommy Shaw.
Sylvester Stallone never imagined making a fourth Rocky film. In fact, it’s entirely possible, based on the lawsuit Anderson v. Stallone, that he may have barely written this one. Just like in that court’s decision though, the core of Rocky still exists in this movie, even though some questionable choices are made (talking robot wife for Paulie, 5-minute Stallone Lambo montage, the synth-iest score that ever synthed, etc.). This is the only movie one of us had actually seen, and Macintosh wasn’t impressed the first time around. Did this watch change his mind? You’ll have to listen to our review of Rocky IV! Macintosh & Maud have started a Patreon! Any little bit you can contribute helps, and we have special contributor-only content if you donate at the $2 level, including the final chapters of our Rocky-thon, Rocky Balboa and Creed! You can email us with feedback at macintoshandmaud@gmail.com, or you can connect with us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. If you like the podcast, make sure to subscribe and review on iTunes, Stitcher or your favorite podcatcher, and tell your friends. The whole team gets together for Volume 2 of our mix tape series. They are joined by Volume 1 stalwart Robert Tepper along with Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Fat Boys and Stan Bush for an eclectic review.
Join Ryan as he interviews the talented and lovely singer Ira Green! I stumbled upon her due to her amazing coverage of Survivor Band's "Eye of The Tiger" featuring video clips of her trip to Philadelphia. She did the The Yo, Rocky Film Tour with Rocky impersonator extraordinaire Mike Kunda. She later covered Robert Tepper's "No Easy Way out", and gives ol' Tepps a run for his money. In this interview Ira talks about her childhood and how she was influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Alice in Chains. We talk about bullies, her first time watching Rocky, the Italian language, and the time she spent on reality competition The Voice of Italy and we give each other homework assignments. In our Chrismas episode we punch our way through Rocky IV from 1985. This time Rocky isn't just fighting one man, he's fighting a whole nation. So join us as we discuss Stallone's boxing franchise and which Christmas films take our fancy. Music, Burning Heart by Survivor and No Easy Way Out by Robert Tepper.
Well, we are here folks! We interviewed Robert Tepper ! The one and only and original singer of "No Easy Way Out', featured in the Rocky IV soundtrack. Robert was generous with his time and talent as he talked to Ryan and Ruban.
Ryan and Ruban get back to talking about Rocky IV. Apollo swims with 3 hairy dogs in his pool. He has a TV that far exceeds the technology of the day, never mind SICO the Robot! Drago enters the USA, he also dated Grace Jones ! Ludmilla Drago is a diplomat at heart! Robert Tepper interrupts our show a few times, we are sorry for that too.

This week's special birthday edition of The Chauncey DeVega Show features two guests. Robert Tepper is the writer and singer of the classic 1980s song "No Easy Way Out" from the movie Rocky IV. He stops by the virtual bar and salon to share some stories about his career as a musician, life on the road, Sylvester Stallone, and how "No Easy Way Out" came into being. Tepper also gives some advice to up-and-coming musicians about their careers and enjoying the moment. Sports journalist and writer Gianmarc Manzione is the second guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He is Editor of Bowlers Journal and author of the book Pin Action: Small-time Gangsters, High-Stakes Gambling, and the Teenage Hustler who Became a Bowling Champion. During this episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Gianmarc and Chauncey discuss their shared love of the sport of bowling, common working class culture. Gianmarc then tells some great stories about the gangsters, crooks, hustlers and other colorful characters who dominated the big money "action bowling" (gambling) scene in the United States during its heyday from the 1950s to 1970s. On this week's show, Chauncey DeVega reflects on his birthday and the health challenges that come with advancing decrepitude. In keeping with the spirit of sharing things that he loves on his birthday, Chauncey offers up some life wisdom learned from con artists and grifters and then reads from a wonderful story about the sloth--his spiritual avatar and one of his favorite animals.
80's movie soundtrack legend Robert Tepper talks about his whirlwind stardom which occurred following the release of "No Easy Way Out" from the Rocky IV soundtrack.

In this episode we're taking on the Night Slasher as we join Sylvestor Stallone's Cobra in his battle to rid LA of crime. In 1986 this violent cime thriller hit the box office and won fans all over the world. Our only queston is, how? Music, Intro: Feel the Heat by Jean Beauvoir - Outro: Angel of the City by Robert Tepper
Commando. Cobra. Invasion USA. Avenging Force. Death Wish 3., and yes....Hard Ticket to Hawaii. These are some of the films that Chris & Joel have fun with on this week's Go Home in a Box. Join in on the discussion as the guys hit on all the tropes of action films that were as excessive as only decade that could contain them. Plus, new retro releases on dvd and blu-ray include a handful of Stephen King adaptations, another cash-in by Paramount, and more. Check out why Go Home in a Box should be your podcast source for discussion of genre films from the VHS era.
Guess we have a new SuperFan, and his name is Dave Barrell. Another chap from the UK ! He joins Ryan and together they discuss all things Rocky, Stallone, Rambo and what have you. Stay tuned for the very end where Robert Tepper chimes in about his mega hit and subsequent stardom of "No Easy Way Out". The guy bashes on David Bowie. Oh my !
Robert Tepper is a legend. His immortal classic, "No Easy Way Out" from 1985's Rocky IV, while not a huge hit on the pop charts, remains one of the most beloved soundtrack songs in movie history.
