Julie Rhodes, shares her journey through long COVID and a cancer scare while parenting. Julie discusses the impact of chronic illness on family life, her path to emotional resilience, and the importance of faith and vulnerability. She highlights the significance of finding rest and peace in small moments (Selah) and reevaluating life's true meaning beyond productivity and health. Julie's story and her book, "Chronic Grace, Prayers, Saints, and Thorns that Stay," offer hope and guidance for those navigating similar struggles, advocating for a deeper reliance on faith and the support of community to find strength and purpose amidst life's trials. About Julie Rhodes Parenting is hard enough - try adding Long COVID and a cancer diagnosis into the mix! While the experience of parenting is both profound and rewarding, it also comes with its unique struggles and hardships. The emotional resilience and adaptability required for parenthood are further tested when personal adversities, such as illness, take center stage. The discussion on how to navigate these added hardships while continuing to fulfill the responsibilities of parenting is often overlooked. ABOUT HER BOOK: Meet author Julie K. Rhodes, a "non-dramatic" running mother who aspires to keep her acting career afloat and her kids educated during the pandemic. But then something unexpected happens, throwing her into a perplexing struggle with an illness that is still mysterious and stubborn - Long Covid. Julie's world has been turned upside down by the Backpack of Woe she is carrying, which is heavy with fatigue, fever, and ultimately the specter of another thorn: cancer. A ray of hope appears in the midst of the gloom. Julie learns the power of grace - mysterious, elusive, yet the universe's guiding force - by learning to pray biblically with Christian saints and mystics of old. Chronic Grace offers the opportunity to see a woman's profound journey that reflects the struggles of historical figures like Ignatius, Teresa of Avila, and others. Julie strives to comprehend the mystery of grace and how it may heal even the most broken life with these unusual but wise partners. Hop Forward: Getting You Ahead in the Brewing and Beer Business
The Disruptive Entrepreneur, Rob Moore, says that the difference between sales and marketing is, ‘Sales is taking the cash off the customer… marketing is getting them into the shop in the first place!’. If you were to sit down, right now, and assess your marketing and sales activity, how would you fare? Are there any areas where you could grow in your marketing activities and testing their effectiveness? The beer industry has a lot of competition for tap lines, shelf space, social media engagement and, ultimately, customers to purchase your beers. So, how does a consumer make their purchasing decisions? How do they know which beers to buy and where to get them from? How do they know whether the breweries, bars or businesses they’re purchasing from align with their own internal values? How do we get them into the shop in the first place? These are the questions we discuss with Julie Rhodes from Not Your Hobby Marketing. From English pubs to craft beer bars to supplier sales and management, Julie has worn many hats in the beverage world. You name it, she’s done it - front of house service, finance, marketing, inventory and supply chain management, product orders, national accounts, field sales, large scale special events, social media management, point of sale material creation, distributor management, sales training, mentoring, CRM’s, data management, website creation, product deliveries, and logistics. She’s sold and marketed beer and cider in various regions throughout the US, giving her diverse insights into sales and marketing for the drinks business as a whole, working with breweries and cideries across the United States. Julie really is the craft beer unicorn! For more info check out Not Your Hobby Marketing or get in touch with Hop Forward to see how we can help you with your sales and marketing strategies.
In the old days of marketing, luck was a significant aspect of a successful campaign filled with jingles and interruptions. Now, we’ve learned to ad value in the form of branded content that works better for your beer business. My next guest is a coach and a guide who navigates us through the world of content marketing. Opening a brewery or taproom and showing up is a great first step to a successful beer business. But, well branded, content marketing can take you where you want it to go. It’s efficient, effective, and can greatly improve your business if it’s done well. Thank you to Julie for, once again, helping us raise the bar in beer.
