Smallville Stories for Children: The Last Son of VeritasThe whispers of Veritas have returned as Tess finds the long lost diary of the late Lionel Luthor. Apparently, Davis also crashed down in 1989 with Clark, but as a piece of space poop that befriended Lex for five days. Everyone finally finds out Davis is a serial killer thanks to Jimmy. Tess attempts to kill him, Clark yells at Chloe for hours, and Davis just wants a good death (Kryptonite Shower?). Don't forget to leave those FIVE STARS!
Do you want to play a game! Well too bad, because this week Smallville meets SAW as we get into Season 5 Episode 19: MERCY! After we get over John Glover's shredded physique in this ode to SAW, we discuss Clark revealing his superpower to a dangerous Lionel Luthor and a new all-time low for security on Smallville. Host Anthony Desiato and guest Lance Laster (Always Hold On To Arrow) dig into Lex Luthor's (Michael Rosenbaum) tragic descent across the decade-long television series SMALLVILLE. They relive the defining moments in Lex's journey and broken friendship with Clark, from their fateful meeting on the bridge in the pilot to their long-awaited reunion in the series finale — with stops along the way at the asylum, the dark truth about Julian, a pivotal Christmas vision, a faked pregnancy, and Lex's inevitable killing of Lionel Luthor. Were Lex and Clark ever really friends? What role, if any, does Clark play in how Lex turned out? And did the series misunderstand its own point by mind-wiping Lex in the end? The Tale of Lex Luthor, the Virus CollectorThis season's penultimate episode is here and it's wild to say the least. Ghost Jon tells Clark to kill Lionel Luthor...yes sir? Lex is collecting the world's deadliest viruses for Dr. Fine and has no idea why...dope? Lana and Lois have a nice day together...cute? Oh, and it's Clark's birthday...SURPRISE?!James Marsters (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Runaways) special guest stars as recurring season five character Dr. Milton Fine.Don't forget to leave those five stars!
What an episode… Join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as they revisit a very impactful episode of Smallville in Season 3 Episode 17: LEGACY. The guys admire the last on camera performance from the late great Christopher Reeve and talk about how he was able to dominate a scene as an actor despite his condition. Later, Tom really connects to the themes of vulnerability as a father that ring throughout this episode; while Michael comes face to face with very creepy Lex behavior. And this week we have our first in studio Talk Ville guest with Lionel Luthor himself… JOHN GLOVER! Thank you to our sponsors: ❤️ Betterhelp: https://betterhelp.com/talkville
Go follow Glover‼️
The reveal we've all been waiting for! Join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as we talk about the one and only Paul Wesley appearance in Smallville Season 2 Episode 15: PRODIGAL. Tom sits back and plays patron this week as Michael remembers a very Luthor-heavy episode. We get a call from Al justifying one of the most (seemingly) asinine storylines in this episode… Michael remembers working with Paul Wesley (Lucas Luthor) … and Tom questions how long Lionel Luthor has really been able to see. Thank you to our sponsors: ❤️ Betterhelp: https://betterhelp.com/talkville __________________________________________________
Our rewatch rebounds this week as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum review Season 2 Episode 7: LINEAGE. Not only do we get to review a beautifully written and directed episode of Smallville, but we're also joined by two very important people to the show. First - it's been a long time coming, but Annette O'Toole finally joins us! She shares everything about her experience as Martha Kent, questions she had about Clark as a mother of small children at the time, and how she prevented the Kent farm from going up in a blaze. We also bug creator Al Gough about the difference in age between Clark and Lex, how the next couple episodes really picked up after the Redux dud, and why Lineage stood out amongst others. Not only that, but Tom remembers his enjoyment for the adoption storyline scenes and Michael talks about how we really see the conniving and treacherous side of Lionel Luthor start to emerge in this episode. Thank you to our sponsors:
The Prophecy of Naman & SageethLots of things this week. Professor Joseph Willowbrook returns with another Kawatche student (ok this guy is weird) to meet with Lionel Luthor about an artifact. The student, Jeremiah, steals the "Starblade" from Lionel and grants himself powers similar to Clark's. Jeremiah, believing he's part of a Kawatche prophecy, goes on a mission to kill Lionel. Ready for more? Pete keeps yelling at Chloe for talking. Lana gets her acceptance letter to Paris, but then gets mad at Lex for attempting to sell The Talon (LOL). There's still more... We go over an official deleted scene that confirms this is Clark's 17th birthday episode!Don't forget to leave those five stars!
S02E20: "Witness" Original Airdate: 4/29/03 When Clark witnesses a shipment of refined kryptonite get stolen, he finds himself unable to stop the thieves. But when he connects the crime to one of Smallville's rising baseball stars,(It's Brad from Home Improvement)he learns the gang is using the kryptonite to give themselves augmented strength. Talk about juicin'! Meanwhile, Lana's relationship with her father improves, but she learns that his wife is filing for divorce; and she is the reason. Tension between Chloe and Clark put their friendship in jeopardy, and Chloe finds herself in the orbit of Lionel Luthor. Curiously, the Torch is vandalised. Did Home Improvement take place in the DCEU? What flavour is that Kryptonite vape juice? AEUHHH?! Have questions, or comments? It just wouldn't be right wrapping up this season without him. The mane, the myth, and the legend John Glover, aka Lionel Luthor, joins Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as we officially wrap up our rewatch of Season 1 of Smallville and the finale episode Tempest. It was a treat talking to Glover. He remembered what it was like going from a guest star to a regular, how deep the theme of family was in the show, and his true opinion on the character of Lionel Luthor. S02E05: "Nocturne" Original airdate: 10/22/02 A teen who is kept locked in the basement of his parents' house during the day sneaks out at night and leaves love letters for Lana, who finds them in the graveyard when she visits her parents. Clark and Lana learn his situation and try to help, but end up dealing with a lot more than they bargained for. Meanwhile, Lionel Luthor hires Martha Kent as his personal assistant, which has Lex questioning his true motive. Is Sheriff Ethan just bad at his job? Smallville Mysteries: Who Shot Lionel Luthor? Our buddy Jor-Don joins us this week to discuss the attempted murder of Lionel Luthor. With plenty of suspects, Jonathan seems to be the one getting framed for the crime and Clark is determined to find out who the real culprit is, even if that means demanding things from his friends (once again).
Michael is joined by Colin to discuss S3 ep5 Perry. Perry White, a once-promising journalist whose career was destroyed by Lionel Luthor, arrives in Smallville in search of alien stories for a tabloid news show.
Believers S1E10 (27 Apr 94) vs. Invasive Procedures S2E4 (17 Oct 93)-We were happy to recognize John Glover who played Lionel Luthor & voiced the Riddler on Batman: The Animated Series & Tim Russ who played Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager-The Trill issues raised in this episode callback to our prior discussion: https://rss.com/podcasts/b5ds9/174686/-Some of the implications about the Trill symbiote selection process being suspect are also present in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3--For a recent critique of meritocracy, see Daniel Markovits Meritocracy Trap: How America's Foundational Myth Feeds Inequality, Dismantles the Middle Class, & Devours the Elite (2019) & a critical interview with the author on The Genn [Loury] Show
John Glover has been a favorite of film and television audiences since the 1970’s. He gained even greater prominence portraying a series of loathsome but oddly endearing villains in the iconic 80’s classics Scrooged, John Frankenheimer’s 52 Pick-Up and Gremlins 2: The New Batch. More recently, he was Emmy nominated for his turn as Lionel Luthor on the long running television hit, Smallville. In addition to his memorable work in film and television over the decades, our JGlo has appeared in 19 Broadway shows, numerous off- B’way productions, and at distinguished regional theaters throughout the country. In 1995, he won the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor for his touching dual role as eclectic twin brothers in Terrence McNally's Love! Valor! Compassion!Cocktails at Table 7- Inside New York’s Joe Allen is produced and hosted by Jason Woodruff, Dana Mierlak and Sean Kent, with music by James Rubio and logo and artwork design by Christina D’Angelo. The Producers would like to extend a special thank you to the owners of Joe Allen, Orso and Bar Centrale Restaurants.
Michael is joined by Brian to discuss S2 ep7 Linage. A woman appears in Smallville claiming that Clark is her biological son by Lionel Luthor, and she kidnaps Lex to force a confession from Lionel. Clark demands that his parents explain what role Lionel Luthor played in his adoption.
Michael is joined by Maria to discuss S2 ep 5. Nocturne.Lana Lang finds some poems from a secret admirer in the gravestone of her parents in the cemetery. Later, she meets the author, Byron Moore, a weird teenager kept locked by his parents in the basement of their farmhouse. They believe the boy is abused by his parents, but soon they realize that he was the subject of an experiment of a laboratory of Luthor Corp, which made him powerfully evil and super-strong when he comes into contact with sunlight. Meanwhile, Martha Kent is invited to work as the assistant of Lionel Luthor, and she accepts the invitation under the reluctance of Jonathan Kent.
Michael is joined by Kalum to discuss S2 ep 3. Duplicity. When Dr. Steven Hamilton, physically sick from repeated exposure to meteor rock radiation, causing constant Parkinson-like twitches, becomes a liability to Lex Luthor, he terminates their contract. Dr. Hamilton leaves the mansion and drives down the road like a lunatic and causes a serious accident with a truck driven by Ray Wallace. The truck overturns in a cornfield near Clark Kent's spacecraft and, while trying to rescue Ray, Pete Ross sees the UFO. The next morning, Pete asks Clark to help him to bring the object to his workshop. When Dr. Hamilton steals the spacecraft, Pete believes Clark has taken it, so Clark discloses his secret to his friend. Meanwhile, the now blind Lionel Luthor moves into Lex's mansion forcing Lex to care for him. Also, to Lana's dismay, her aunt Nell Potter is in love with a new boyfriend named Dean.
In this interview I talk with actor John Glover. We discuss he career in both television and film, including his many roles such as Lionel Luthor father to DC comics character Lex Luthor in the hit television series "Smallville", The Riddler in "Batman The Animated Series", his role in the movie "Batman & Robin" where he acted alongside Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy, as well as his part in "Shazam" with Zachary Levi to name a few. Lastly John talks about his work with supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. For more info visit: https://twitter.com/realjohnglover
Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Invasive Procedures Hello everyone! Welcome to Season 2 episode 4: Invasive Procedures! Hot off the 3-part season opener, we slide into a standalone episode starring none other than Lionel Luthor...well actually it's John Glover who is well known for playing Lionel Luthor on Smallville and most importantly LA slimeball Brice Cummings in Scrooged (his most important role). Because the station has been evacuated (so we ARE capable of evacuating!!) , DS9 is being run by a skeleton crew leaving it vulnerable to an attack. And Lionel attacks! And as always, the crew is unprepared and cannot come up with a useful plan! Argh!!! What Invasive Procedures? Lionel Luthor (also known as Verad in this episode) has come to kidnap a member of the crew...well part of a member of the crew. He wants Dax, not Jadzia, just Dax. He's a trill without a symbiont and he's come to rectify that. And let's just say...this does not go well for anyone. The usual and not so usual We cover the usual (bad hair) and the not so usual (Kira getting beat up by someone). Something has gone wrong with the hair in season 2 except for some killer bangs back in episode 2. But we are all a bit frizzy or in Lionel Luther's case we've had a very unflattering bowl cut. Questionable hair is a common thing on this show, what's not common is someone getting the better of Kira in a fight! She takes out a big Cardassian in episode 1 of this season, but here she gets taken out by Verad's tough as nails girlfriend. It is alarming! What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to season 1 and some of our favorite episodes like In the Hands of the Prophets and Duet. Or you can also listen to our previous episode (a really good one): The Siege. Next time... We dive into Season 2 Episode 5 of DS9: Cardassians. Be sure and join our Facebook group and Follow Rebinge It on Twitter!
Welcome to Season 2 Episode 4: Invasive Procedures! In this episode, Lionel Luthor arrives at the station with a nefarious plan! And as usual we are not prepared for bad things to happen. Send us your feedback at rebingeit@gmail.com

We’re talking CW’s Arrowverse MeGa-Crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, Tom Welling & Erica Durance from Smallville & our unseen Ashley Scott interview! Yup! Huntress Helena Kyle from Birds of Prey! This is a major HuMoNGoID geeked-out DC Comics episode and we’re getting into everything we know about the guests in Crisis on Infinite Earths to date! We’ll start off with Brandon Routh! Piper was five years old when we took her to see Brandon in Superman Returns at a movie theater in Miami! We would have never thought that after all these years as Ray Palmer / ATOM from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Brandon would “return” to his roots as Superman in an Arrowverse crossover! Seriously!? That’s really going all-out! Next, Smallville! OK - Adam here. This one is my all-time favorite show. There were a few of quirks episodes over the ten year run, but overall, the writing, cinematography, and acting were just awesome (especially those discussions between Lex and Lionel Luthor! (We still joke about when Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) was known as “Sexy Lexy” in the early Smallville days). The Berlanti team has said more than once that without Smallville, there wouldn’t have been an Arrowverse. They’ve payed homage here and there in the past, but now…they’re bringing Tom Welling and Erica Durance, Lois and Clark, back together! We’re going to revisit the Kent Farm and see what they’re up to 10 years later! I’m super-excited about this one. If you like Superman lore and haven’t seen Smallville, you’re seriously missing out! Definitely get a hold of it and start watching! We’re not finished yet! Next, we’re jumping over to an exclusive, unseen interview we did with Ashley Scott, aka The Huntress, Helena Kyle, about her role on Birds of Prey. (YES! She went by “Kyle” in the cult classic series instead of Helen Wayne.) Helena is the daughter of Batman and Batwoman…Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle! She’s from the bronze storyline (for those comic geeks out there). The new Birds of Prey movie with Margot Robbie involves a different iteration of the Huntress, Helena Bertinelli. Birds of Prey was a cult classic that only got one season! We highly recommend picking up the DVD! It’s got a cartoon mini-serious featuring some of the villainous women of the DC universe! So, there’s a LOT of info in this episode and a super-special and rare interview with a younger Piper! Let us know whatchya think of this retro-style Piper’s Picks intro and what’s happening in the CW DC Arrowverse! Thank you so much for watching, guyz!

Glover was born in Salisbury, Maryland, the son of Cade (née Mullins) and John Soursby Glover, Sr., a television salesman.[1][2] Glover attended Wicomico High School and acted at Towson University.[3] Glover began his career at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia, and later studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse under Milton Katselas.[4] Aside from his theatrical endeavours, Glover is also actively involved with the Alzheimer’s Association. His inspiration for joining this cause was his own father’s experience with Alzheimer’s disease.[5] He is openly gay and has been in a relationship with sculptor Adam Kurtzman since 1993.[5] Career: Glover began his career in television, playing a mentally disturbed kidnapper who kidnapped Joanne, the heroine on Search for Tomorrow. One of his early film performances was a small but pivotal role as a U.S. diplomat in White Nights. Other notable roles include Alan Raimy in 52 Pick-Up, Bryce Cummings in Scrooged, Daniel Clamp in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, a mobster in Payback, an advertising spokesman in RoboCop 2, Derek Mills in Night of the Running Man, the Riddler in Batman: The Animated Series, Doctor Jason Woodrue in Batman & Robin, Verad in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Invasive Procedures”, the Devil in the series Brimstone, and a recurring role in The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd as Cousin Jerry, from Bal’mer, a relative whom no one actually seemed to know. He appeared in one episode of Miami Vice. He also appeared in two episodes of Murder, She Wrote, the first one being “One White Rose for Death” in which he played East German Franz Mueller. Mueller wishes to defect to the United States, but his sister is a celebrated concert violinist. They both become caught up in a case of murder at the British Embassy. The other episode was “When Thieves Fall Out,” where he played Andrew Durbin, a man wrongly accused of stealing bonds. He appeared in the TV movie An Early Frost in 1985, the first TV film to confront the issue of AIDS, and received an Emmy nomination for his performance as a gay AIDS patient. In 1986, he appeared in the TV film Apology with Lesley Ann Warren. Our shows are audience interactive and the kids are integrated into every performance, making them feel uniquely important in this theatrical experience.
