EP. 216: In this powerful episode, I sit down with Dr. Robin Rose, a double board-certified expert in gastroenterology and internal medicine. We dive deep into the terrain of the body, how the spike protein, COVID and the vaccine impact it, and what this means for long-term health. Our conversation covers long COVID, post-vaccine injury, gaslighting in the medical system and the research that's finally catching up to what many have suspected for years. No matter where you stand on the issue, the suffering is real, and these stories need to be heard. Topics Discussed: → What are the long-term effects of COVID on the gut and immune system? → Can the COVID vaccine cause lingering health issues? → How does Dr. Robin Rose approach post-vaccine injury? → What is long COVID and how is it treated? → Why are patients with long COVID being dismissed by doctors? Hi friends! I have a new podcast episode live and I'm so thrilled to share a solo episode with you all about a super common and often frustrating topic: Why it's hard to lose weight, even when you feel like you're doing all the things! Here's what we discuss: Why "calories in versus calories out" isn't the whole story when it comes to weight loss. The crucial role of mindset and stress in weight loss resistance, and how to calm your nervous system. Why under-eating might be tanking your metabolism, and how reverse dieting can help rebuild it. The impact of hormonal imbalances (estrogen, progesterone, thyroid) on your weight loss journey. The often-overlooked connection between gut health (parasites, Candida, SIBO) and inflammation/weight loss resistance. How over-exercising (especially too much HIIT and cardio without enough strength training) can backfire. The importance of mineral balance and how things like stress, caffeine, and sweating can deplete essential nutrients. The hidden impact of toxin load from our environment on hormones and metabolism, and gentle ways to support detox pathways. Why doing more isn't always the answer, and the importance of self-kindness, patience, and playing the long game for sustainable results. and so.much.more! Partners: Check out We Feed Raw! 214: In this episode, I'm diving into all things histamine—what it is, how it functions, and why it might be the missing link in your hormone and immune health journey. After sharing insights on the connection between histamine sensitivity and hormone replacement therapy (HRT), the response was massive. I'm unpacking why histamine issues are more than just food reactions, how they relate to estrogen, menopause, and chronic inflammation, and why there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I've dealt with histamine challenges my whole life and supported countless patients through it. This episode is a deep, honest look at the bigger picture behind histamine imbalance. Topics Discussed: What are the symptoms of histamine intolerance and how is it connected to hormone imbalances? How does histamine affect estrogen levels and hormone replacement therapy (HRT)? What causes high histamine levels and how can you support balance naturally? What is the difference between histamine intolerance and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)? How do lifestyle factors, diet, and gut health influence histamine sensitivity? Sponsored By: Nutrisense | Head over to nutrisense.io/drtyna to get 30% off your Nutrisense plan. You might have noticed that everyone has recently become a bit obsessed with blood sugar, or glucose. Wellness firms such as Zoe in the UK – as well as Nutrisense, Levels and Signos – claim to offer insights into how our bodies process food based on monitoring our blood glucose, among other things. But many researchers have begun to question the science behind this. If you're curious to try a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), this episode is a must-watch!Blood sugar regulation and metabolic health are HOT topics right now, and considering that some skin issues (like psoriasis) make you prone towards having issues, I frequently have these conversations with clients.Being that I'm perimenopause with a family history of diabetes, I thought it would be a good idea to try a over the counter CGM monitor purely to gain insight into my blood sugar balance and metabolic health. The most frequent question is “is trying a continous glucose monitor worth it?”While using a CGM monitor is quite straightforward, I can see why someone might wonder about this. And while I went into my two-week experiment with a bit of skepticism, I discovered a few crazy important things that I couldn't have figured out any other way.So let's dive into why I do believe that a continuous glucose monitor can be a useful tool, who should (and shouln't) use this type of device, what the experience was like putting on and removing the CMG monitor, and what I wish I knew before I tried it the first time.Let's dive in!In This Episode:Who should (and shouldn't) try a continuous glucose monitorHow to use a CGM monitorWhat I learned about my blood sugar from using an over-the-counter continuous glucose monitorWhat NOT to do with a continous glucose monitor (I wish I knew this when I tried it the first time)How often should you use a CGM (if you're not diabetic)?CGM monitor tips: What's actually stuck to your arm?The over the counter continuous glucose monitor I triedQuotes“And the group of people who I think…should probably work with a nutrition or medical professional while using a CGM would be somebody who has a history of eating disorders…and those who have significant disordered eating patterns. If you feel like knowing that a particular meal or food is going to make you terrified to eat that food, don't do this on your own.”“The other thing that did seem to spike my blood sugar was when I didn't eat soon enough…if I just pushed through the hunger and pushed off eating in a window of time, that's when I would start to see my blood sugar spike on its own.”LinksUse THIS LINK to save $50 off of your first month on NutrisenseHealthy Skin Show ep. 217: Health Concerns Linked to Psoriasis (You SHOULD Know About)Healthy Skin Show ep. 347: Adult Hormonal Acne + Blood Sugar Dysfunction: What's The Connection?
Sharing a new podcast episode with Dr. Peter Martone about sleep, how sleep posture affects your health, and tips you can implement right now. We talk about: - How sleep posture impacts your health - The ideal sleep posture - Keys to getting a great night's sleep and so.much.more. 176: How to fix your sleep and transform your health with Dr. Peter Martone Here's more about Dr. Martone and his background: Dr. Peter Martone is an educator and patient care practitioner who has been focused on improving patient's biomechanics for over 23 years during his private practice as a chiropractor. Dr. Martone always believed that the structure of your spine effects the function of the central nervous system, and this principle is the cornerstone of his practice. Dr. Martone's core belief is that the central nervous system controls every function in the human body and in order to be able to express true health you have to keep your nervous system healthy. When your spine falls out of alignment due to poor spinal mechanics, it interferes with the proper function of the nervous system thus throwing the body out of balance. Peter's mission is to help as many people as possible achieve optimal health function and performance so they can reach their full potential in life. During his 23 years of practice, Dr. Martone found it harder and harder to keep his patients aligned due to the stress of the modern-day lifestyle on their posture. His patients were coming in with the same problems which inspired him to come up with an innovative solution to help correct patients spines while they sleep. He worked with designers and engineers to create the Neck Nest, his newest product that helps correct patients spines while they sleep. Dr. Martone's revolutionary concepts are designed to help restore proper biomechanics of the spine by adopting a neutral sleeping position, helping you sleep better, live longer and be healthier. His techniques have been featured on CBS, NBC, Fox News, Dave Asprey's Upgraded Conference, and over 50 podcasts as he travels the world teaching people how to regain their health by mastering the art of sleeping. Stunning as it may sound, nearly half of Americans ages 20 years and up – or more than 122 million people – have high blood pressure, according to a 2023 report from the American Heart Association. In this lesson I will share the worst blood pressure advice given to you from your doctor, the real cause of high blood pressure, and easy steps to naturally lower high blood pressure. Most doctors will tell you high blood pressure is a result of a diet high in salt. The belief that salt consumption raises blood pressure is based on bogus science. It originates from French scientists more than 100 years ago, who 'based their findings on just six patients'. Salt, emphasizing its role in maintaining proper hydration, supporting adrenal function, and enhancing nutrient absorption. Salt helps the body balance fluids, regulate nerve and muscle function, and maintain acid-base balance. For people who are active or on low-carb or ketogenic diets, salt intake is even more essential, as they can lose more sodium through sweat and reduced insulin levels. DiNicolantonio explains that salt can also improve blood flow, support cardiovascular health, and reduce cravings for sugar by balancing electrolyte levels. What is the real cause of high blood pressure? High levels and blood glucose and insulin! Eating too many carbohydrates inhibits the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is responsible for vasodilation. When the blood vessels constrict because of the lack of NO, the heart has to work harder. This is what increases blood pressure! How do you measure your blood sugar and insulin levels? Fasting insulin Fasting blood sugars Post prandial glucose CGM KETO MOJO 5 ways to naturally lower high blood pressure. Your first step is to replace insulin producing foods with foods that lower insulin. This will lower blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels. The second step: Eat the 5 best foods proven by science to lower blood pressure, The third step: eliminate snacking in between meals and practice time restricted feeding. The fourth step: Consider supplementation The fifth step: breath through your nostrils and hum/sing // RESOURCES MENTIONED:

When you are struggling with all of the symptoms of a hormonally imbalanced body (which by the way is a common part of going through perimenopause) one of the first steps I focus on for myself and my clients is to manage blood sugar levels. Choosing nutrition that creates consistent blood sugar in the body will improve sleep, reduce cravings and fatigue, reduce cortisol and give the body the space it needs to metabolize and balance our hormones themselves…keeping all of those terrible symptoms away…not to mention aid our bodies in shifting from fat storage to fat burning…sounds pretty great right?!? Although managing your blood glucose on your own is possible, I have fallen in love with an amazing tool called a Continuous Glucose Monitor (or CGM) from a company called Nutrisense which you wear on your body and not only gives you immediate feedback on how your specific blood sugar is being affected by your food choices, but also how to improve energy, sleep, fitness and therefore results. On this episode of the pod, I am fortunate enough to have the amazing Catherine Staffieri, a nutrition and glucose expert and registered dietician with Nutrisense, to chat about the impact of glucose on hormones, perimenopause and menopause, weight loss and the incredible benefits of using a CGM as a tool to help you feel your best. Catherine is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist currently working as a Nutrition Manager at Nutrisense, one of the fastest growing healthtech start-ups aimed to help anyone discover and reach their health potential. Catherine has counseled thousands of clients on their glucose scores reviewing over 750,000 hours of glucose data and recorded meals in the process, while recommending nutritional adjustments to improve metabolic health. She holds a Masters in Nutrition Education from Columbia University and completed her undergrad work at the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her 3 kids, traveling and being active. I just need to know what works for me in different situations and to make good decisions at different inflection points. People want good health, that's the thing they want to control. But we don't have to be perfect to be there. We actually just need to be consistent." - Kara Collier Become An Active Driver "The current environment is going to push you towards obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and dementia if you become passive rather than an active driver. Hi friends! I'm so excited to welcome Brian Murphy to the podcast today! I tracked him down at the Biohacking Conference because I loved his company, their mission, and his overall energy and vibe. I could tell he was just a genuine, cool, positive person, and I knew he'd be an amazing fit for the show. Here's what we talk about today: - What are adaptogens and how do they work? - Our broken food system and the purpose behind Living Prana - Cultivating a positive mindset and creating motivation, even when you don't feel like it - His tips for being Healthy In Real Life - and so.much.more. 171: The power of adaptogens with Brian Murphy Here's more about Brian and his background: Brian is the CEO and co-founder of LIVING PRANA, a functional food company transforming unhealthy packaged foods with nutrient-dense superfoods. He is a champion for reform of a U.S. food system to provide food that creates health, raising the bar on transparency, integrity and sustainability for the businesses feeding America. A former investment banker and strategic growth leader, he has invested in, advised, and built businesses for the past 15 years, working shoulder-to-shoulder with many entrepreneurs and leading growth for private equity-backed and public companies. Brian is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Combining this business experience with mindfulness practices, Brian is leading an evolution into a new conscious business paradigm that is accountable to its community, stakeholders and to the planet. In 2016, Brian hit a radical turning point as significant stressors drove his physical and mental health into a crisis – he called off a wedding, lost 65 pounds and sold his first business. This unlocked his passion to inspire others to prioritize their well-being using food as medicine after saving his own physical and mental health with functional foods. As Brian furthered his spiritual discovery, the path illuminated for him to create businesses that fulfill a greater purpose aligned with his transformation while healing people and the planet. In 2020, after the beginning of his spiritual journey, Brian flipped the keys on a longstanding successful corporate career to bet on himself as an impact creator and align his personal values with his entrepreneurial efforts. After his lifelong physical health struggles, his involvement in the business side of surgery and watching health decay of his loved friends and family, Brian dedicated his impact to build businesses that help optimize physical and mental well-being of everyone whose lives he touches. Today, I'm fortunate to welcome Kara Collier back to the show for her third appearance. She is the co-founder and VP of Health at Nutrisense, one of America's fastest-growing wellness-tech startups, where she leads the health team. She is a Forbes 30 under 30 recipient, frequent podcast guest & conference speaker. Kara has made it her mission to help others reach optimal health using modern technology & expert coaching. In addition to being a leading authority on the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology by nondiabetics, she is championing the use of the human connection to heighten the impact of tech innovations in the healthcare industry. In this episode, Kara explains that many people mistakenly believe that glucose is only relevant for those with diabetes, but in reality, it's a key indicator of overall metabolic health. Metabolic health, which drives essential bodily functions like cell growth and energy regulation, relies on glucose as a fuel source. Monitoring glucose levels provides valuable insights into how efficiently the body's metabolic system functions. Kara highlights the significant impact of stress on glucose levels, noting that not only food but also mental and emotional states can trigger spikes. Stressful situations can lead to elevated cortisol levels, which in turn increase glucose. She emphasizes the importance of being mindful of one's state of mind, particularly before eating, as stress can hinder digestion and exacerbate glucose responses. Incorporating relaxation techniques can help mitigate these effects. Hi friends! I have a new podcast episode live and I'm so excited for you to hear this one. Joel Greene is today's guest, and I felt like I could have talked to him for hours. Here's what we talk about in today's episode: - Nutritionl for metabolism and reducing inflammation - How to navigate conflicting health info - Whey and dairy and how they can actually be superfoods - How GMOs and industrial seed oils affect gut health and inflammatory fat cells and so.much.more. 169: The Immunity Code Diet and why dairy isn't the enemy with Joel Greene Joel Greene is the author of The Way: Immunity Code Diet and The Immunity Code, the very first gut-health protocol teacher, and the original biohacker that utilizes the family of insulin hormones and the immune system to create lasting health. In 2007, Joel published the very first article to the public on the microbiome and the relationship to weight loss, creating a name for himself in the wellness space. By 2009, he had created the first nutrition system based on gut health to help people lose weight and feel better, called the VEEP Nutrition System, and it was used by large cities, like Phoenix and Houston, as well as large corporations, like Technicolor and a major hospital chain. This proprietary system was also featured on Dr. Phil. By 2013, before any present day gut health gurus existed, he had over 16,000 research outcomes targeting the microbiome for health and weight. Joel's work has also been featured in several well known media outlets like Muscle and Fitness, CBS online, 24 Hour Fitness Digital Magazine, among others. In late 2019, he published The Immunity Code, widely regarded as one of the most influential health books of this decade. The book launched several biohacking practices trending in the mainstream health and biohacking narrative today, like mouth taping, targeting Akkermansia for gut health, HMO's, no warm up sprints, microdosing exercise, the use of supplements like berberine and apigenin, and many other biohacks. Joel has been featured on top podcasts like Ben Greenfield, Mark Bell Power Project, the Minimalists and others, for his deep inquiries and unique discoveries known for optimizing health. Joel's new book, The Way: The Immunity Code Diet, introduces an entirely new framework diet to achieve real and lasting health, and finally puts an end to the dietary confusion of this age. About The Way: The Immunity Code Book: The Way is the sequel to the influential biohacking book, The Immunity Code, highlighting a framework for a simple diet that optimizes the immune system and insulin family of hormones to achieve lasting health. The Way creates clarity around what, when, and how to eat, resulting in reduced inflammation, weight loss, and a longer life span. The diet comprises 48-hour cycles of eating that mimic natural eating plans—the first 24 hours are for foraging, and the second 24 hours are for fasting, and high protein/fats, as well as taking into account seasons, scarcity, social interaction, sleep, and balance. Joel's mission with The Way—to put an end to dietary confusion and restrictive food-exclusionist approaches, and instead re-introduce simplicity and dietary diversity. Today Ben sheds some light on the 5 worst carnivore mistakes causing weight gain and disease. You may be surprised by these little known secrets of carnivore. #1 Not Eating Enough Fat: A common misconception is that the carnivore diet is all about protein. However, adequate fat intake is crucial for energy, satiety, and hormone balance. Neglecting fat can lead to fatigue, hunger, and nutrient deficiencies. #2 Not Prioritizing Organ Meats: Organ meats like liver, kidney, and heart are nutritional powerhouses, packed with essential vitamins and minerals that are often lacking in muscle meat alone. Skipping organ meats can lead to deficiencies over time. #3 Not Managing Electrolytes: The carnivore diet can lead to changes in electrolyte balance, particularly sodium and potassium. Not paying attention to electrolyte intake can result in headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, and other health issues. #4 Not Transitioning Gradually: Jumping into the carnivore diet too quickly can shock the body and cause digestive issues, fatigue, and other side effects. A gradual transition is crucial to allow the body to adapt to the changes in food intake. #5 Doing the carnivore diet for too long. Ignoring Individual Needs: Every person is different, and the carnivore diet may not be suitable for everyone. Ignoring individual needs and preferences can lead to frustration, burnout, and potential health complications. RESOURCES MENTIONED:

I'm so excited to be chatting with Seed Co-founder Ara Katz today. Here's what we discuss: - The microbiome and how we can best support it - The creation of Seed - The importance of the vaginal microbiome and supporting this delicate ecosystem — we're going to hear more and more about this - Her tips for being Healthy in Real Life and so much more. 166: The power of the microbiome with Seed co-founder, Ara Katz Here's more about Ara and her background: You might already be familiar with Seed from their flagship product, DS-01®, which has garnered mass attention and the title of the #1 selling probiotic, gaining attention from celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Karlie Kloss, and Cameron Diaz. But the story behind Seed and Ara herself extends far beyond their acclaimed product. Ara is a dynamic three-time founder (recently named to CNBC's inaugural Changemakers list) who has built, advised, and invested in some of the most notable consumer brands across consumer, health, and tech. Her path to science began not in a lab but with personal challenges –– 20 years ago, her mom's pancreatic cancer diagnosis ignited her passion for health and science. Later, Ara was introduced to the microbiome by way of a miscarriage, struggles with breastfeeding, and the realization of how little science informed the products she turned to. It was this journey that led her to found Seed Health. Seed has seen 800+% revenue growth in the last 3 years, but it isn't just a commercial success story; it's the culmination of Ara's lifelong passion for technology, storytelling, and design, all harnessed to leverage science for humanity's benefit. In addition to her role as CEO, Ara oversees the company's environmental research under SeedLabs, and co-directs LUCA Biologics, the company's venture targeting the vaginal microbiome for the future of women's health. Now, Ara is expanding Seed's impact beyond the gut, with its first innovation targeting the vaginal microbiome –– a watershed moment for women's health. Today, I am fortunate to have Dr. Don Clum with me for the fourth time. He is the founder and owner of Insulin Friendly Living, a virtual practice specializing in insulin resistance and advanced metabolic nutrition. In this episode, Dr. Don Clum explains that one in eight adults in the United States, or around 40 million people, are taking Ozempic or similar GLP-1 drugs primarily for weight loss. He highlights that these drugs work by mimicking the effects of GLP-1, a hormone that regulates insulin secretion and hunger signals. However, the drugs cause side effects by artificially creating a feeling of fullness, leading to nausea, vomiting, and severe digestive issues like gastroparesis. Additionally, long-term use can result in muscle wasting and insulin resistance as the body adapts to the drug's high levels of GLP-1, causing significant metabolic imbalances and potential health risks. Today, I am fortunate to welcome Spencer Feldman back to the show for the fourth time. Spencer is the founder of https://remedylink.com/ — where, for the last 20 years, he has been formulating and manufacturing detoxification products for doctors and their patients. His company specializes in helping support your body's natural responses to heavy metal toxins. Spencer discusses three severe diagnoses: Lyme disease, cancer, and gadolinium poisoning, with the latter being potentially the worst. He focuses on cancer, emphasizing the need for better understanding due to its prevalence. Criticizing the conventional "war on cancer" approach, he prefers the term "feral tissue" to reflect that cancerous cells were once normal. Later, Spencer explains that short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are produced in the large intestine's microbiome and can injure tissues. When injured, tissue converts into stem cells to aid repair, which he likens to the transformation seen in cancerous or "feral" tissue. He suggests this may be an intentional response to injury rather than a mistake. If you've been struggling to lose stubborn fat no matter how much you diet or exercise, then I've got the perfect solution for you… I'll be sharing 7 key ingredients for you to have 1 tablespoon of each day, which puts your metabolism into a fat burning state. These ingredients have one thing in common… They work with your mitochondria to create mitochondrial uncoupling. The mitochondria are VERY important not only for health but for fat loss. When you have healthy mitochondria producing energy (ATP) it raises your metabolic rate so you burn more calories sitting on the couch. The goal is to create this process while reducing oxidative stress. Some of the items I'm going to share with you allow your body to produce ketones. Ketones act as signaling molecules that achieve 400% MORE energy via mitochondrial biogenesis. This is where mitochondrial uncoupling comes into play. The other impact we are looking to achieve comes from reducing your postprandial glucose levels. The goal is to optimize postprandial glucose levels, meaning your blood sugar levels after eating. The higher your blood sugar after eating, the faster you store body fat. When you eat food, your body converts the food into chains of sugar called glycogen. Your body has a tightly controlled system for sugar in the bloodstream, and what is considered optimal for health and fat loss is 80 mg/dL. Which is 1 teaspoon of sugar in your entire blood stream! After you've eaten, sugar in your bloodstream is elevated, which signals to your pancreas to produce insulin. Insulin is an energy sensor that shuttles the sugar out of your bloodstream, and into your cells. First the sugar gets stored in your glycogen stores, (liver and muscle cells) When your glycogen stores get full, and sugar continues to be elevated in your bloodstream, then your metabolism shuttles this sugar into your fat cells. The longer the sugar stays in your blood, the more insulin required, and the more you keep your body in a fat storage state. Postprandial glucose is a measurement of this process. The faster we can clear this glucose after eating, and efficiently pack them in your muscle and liver cells, the faster you'll burn stubborn fat and lose weight.
