Today, I no longer feel the need to use alcohol as a band-aid to distract me from reality. I now have the ability to accept and adjust to any changes or challenges that would have caused me to stress out before I learned to live mindfully and make meditation a daily gift I give to myself. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't an easy journey. I had to do some serious work on myself, and it took a lot of time and dedication. But the payoff has been incredible. I feel more connected to my life, and I'm able to handle stress in a much healthier way. Mental health is no joke. It's just as important as physical health, and it's time we start treating it that way. I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire others to seek the help they need and find the tools that work for them. After all, we're all in this crazy journey of life together! Her father's frightening behaviors that followed changed her life forever, and have inspired her life's work. Stacey is an author, speaker, and psychologist who wrote the ground-shaking book, The Gospel of Mental Health: From Mental Hell to Mental Wellness. Stacey touches on the underlying causes of depression and shares insight into the misconceptions that Christians and churches perpetuate about mental health problems. Stacey also reminds us that an attitude of gratitude is the most impactful game-changer when it comes to combating depression for Christ followers. TAKEAWAYS You cannot punish yourself for the sins that you have committed - instead Christ calls us to repent and change our ways Social media and the constant negative news robs us of our peace and joy We struggle to find peace when we are willingly choosing to subscribe to chaos The Gospel of Mental Health also includes a workbook for those who want to work through specific challenges and create personal prayers

Good News, it's not hard to get out of your self-made Hell. Simply start cooperating with the Spirit of Christ inside of you, instead of resisting him.
As I interviewed Michael Anthony, one of the greatest educators/coaches and adult survivors of child abuse, I was overcome with admiration from his story and ability to be vulnerable and honest! His life as a child should have led him to be another suicide statistic, yet he managed to get his shit together and rise up after hitting rock bottom.

In the final week of the "Mental Hell" series, Pastor Nate Gagne speaks about King David's attempted cover up in the book of Psalms. David's reputation, family & peace of mind were destroyed in the process; and the truth was eventually revealed anyway. The mental hell we put ourselves in when we lie, use & deceive is avoidable when we trust God's plan for us rather than our own. In doing so, we declare His image of us rather than our own. No matter your past, God sees you as; beautiful & wonderfully-made.
In the second week of the "Mental Hell" series, Pastor Nate's wife Michelle shares a training she learned in her MSW class. Mental Health professionals studied adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) & found a link between certain physical health issues & increased adverse experiences. However, if we believe what God says about us rather than the lies perpetuated by these experiences or negative influences in our lives, we an overcome our diagnosis or stereotype. If God can make a lame man walk, He can heal anything; including our self-image.
In the first week of the "Mental Hell" series, Pastor Nate Gagne speaks about mental health issues & their causes. Some are physiological, caused by imbalances in our bodies, some are spiritual, caused by outside forces trying to disquiet our minds. But with Jesus, we have an ally to help us fight for our peace of mind & a healer to help bring our bodies back to proper functioning. God didn't send His only son to do so that we would have lives of distress & torment, He gave up Jesus so we could have abundant life. The more trust we put in God, the more ammunition we have against the spiritual forces trying to manipulate our image of ourselves & exploit our bodily issues. God sees us as perfect in His sight; once we start believing that we can turn the tables on spiritual warfare.
