Send us a textThis week is a solo episode with a discussion around the reemergence of quartz watches as depicted in a recent article by the New York Times, a home brew project that brings a red aluminum heat shield to the MoonSwatch, and the titanium IWC GST Aquatimer 2000. There's also a deeper look at what the Aquatimer has become, and where it could potentially go from here, through the lens of its past. This is a great dive watch collection that could use some love, but thankfully, there are still plenty of interesting examples available from its history. For this episode, James is hosting, and he is joined by Mark and Rich to discuss the last year in watches. The conversation is wide-ranging and includes everything from the continued popularity of shaped cases to Daniel Craig leaks, fan service in watches, the need for fun, the continued role of the Moonswatch, and a handful of favorite releases from 2024.We'll be back in a few days with part three of this series, in which we will look forward to the excitement of what we hope will come in 2025. We return to the newness on episode 93 of A Week in Watches. There have been a lot of very interesting releases in the last few weeks, ranging from new versions of popular watches to new complications from unexpected sources. The episode begins by looking at the Christopher Ward Bel Canto Classic, a neo-traditional take on the brand's runaway hit. Following this, we leave Earth to discuss the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Earth Phase. Yes, it's another MoonSwatch, but this one does something no other watch has done before.Afterward, we discuss the new Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT. The first Pelagos GMT from the ever-popular brand, it brings the FXD back to its military roots. Finally, we talk about some new Seiko Prospex divers that, to be frank, have us altogether confused. This week's episode is brought to you by the Windup Watch Shop, where the all new the Timex X Worn & Wound WW75 V3 is now available. Limited to 500 per color and priced at $239, these fun, colorful watches were inspired by the end of summer and a desire to keep it going. Pick one up today at Windup Watch Shop.
This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan and Zach Weiss are tackling questions from our listeners submitted through Instagram and our Worn & Wound+ Slack community. There are a bunch of great questions this month on a range of topics, including the prevalence of luxury quartz watches, our thoughts on the latest from Christopher Ward, and whether or not it's ever appropriate to pay a premium for a particular dial color. There's also, as is tradition, a sandwich related question, which we of course are thrilled to answer. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast — now available on all major platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Spotify, and more. Fratello On Air returns with an admittedly noisy episode. Our apologies, but the show must go on! This week, it's a lighter show as we discuss our recent whereabouts (watches included) and hit upon some new releases. Enjoy the show and the clattering of plates, glassware, and cutlery.Yes, Balazs is on the move again and this time he's competing with a cacophony within the Detroit Lufthansa lounge. Again, we apologize for the ruckus and the audio quality. Mike is within the cozy confines of his London abode. This week, we discuss some new releases and recent activities. We hope you take pleasure in this off-the-cuff episode!Kettle KiteBefore we tackle our primary subject, we engage in some banter. Balazs has spent a week in the heart of rock 'n' roll, aka Cleveland, visiting some friends. We briefly discuss his travels. Mike mentions his trip to World Time UK, which was held on September 23rd at Heathrow Airport. It was a great event with over forty brands including Doxa, Aquastar, Farer, Formex, Studio Underdog, Ollech & Wajs, and Isotope. We take a moment to discuss the recent Doxa Sub 300β Sharkhunter now that Mike has seen it in person. As far as what we are wearing, Balazs is rocking his faithful GShock. Mike is wearing his Rolex Submariner 5513 Maxi Dial. Finally, Mike mentions a recent trip to the Swatch boutique in Covent Garden, London. No SwatchPains were in stock, but they did have nine of the MoonSwatch models available.New ReleasesAs far as the main subject, we discuss some new releases. First, there's the new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3. It's a nice enough-looking watch, but the pricing strikes us as incredibly high. Then, we mention the Bulova Oceanographer GMT, a piece that Balazs seems to love. Finally, there's the Benrus Ultra Deep, a 36.5mm retro diver with a super compressor-style case.As always, we appreciate you tuning in to the show. We'll be back next week hopefully with less background noise!
Lex, RJ, and Laurits discuss the Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty Fathoms that was introduced on September 7th and went on sale two days later. We are not all a fan of the watch, especially when compared to the successful MoonSwatch. Here at Fratello, the opinions are very mixed on the Blancpain x Swatch release.
Feels a little bit like deja-vu, doesn't it? For Episode 12, the boys are reflecting on the last 18 months of the MoonSwatch while checking in with thoughts and impressions of the new Swatch x Blancpain collaboration. These are, of course not watches that are available at Topper, but how do they leave their mark in our space? Oh, and we now have an official email! Shoot us a note: podcast@topperjewelers.com for comments, feedback, or to ask questions for the boys to be answered on air during a mailbag segment. And once again, as always, thank you for the comments and reviews – it helps us immensely and has put our little town of Burlingame on recommended lists for both Apple and Spotify.
This week on the aBlogtoWatch Weekly podcast, it's another full house as Rick, Ariel, and David, cover the latest from the site and the watch industry. Things start off with a chat about underwater photography and lume shots before a discussion about flipping watches, particularly the Moonswatch. Naturally, things flow into the Swatch x Blancpain Fifty Fathoms (the Swifty Fathoms) and speculation about the next internal affordable Swatch collab (Hamilton Swentura, anyone?). This week on the podcast, Blake is joined by Zach Kazan to talk about all the big news coming out of Geneva Watch Days, including an impressive collaboration between MB&F and H. Moser for Only Watch, an impressive new chronograph from Sylvain Pinaud, and a Doxa that, perhaps, stole the show (for better or worse). But first, they talk about what will surely be one of the most talked about releases of the year, the new Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms. It was inevitable that Swatch would follow up the massive success of the MoonSwatch with something, but it's kind of hard to believe that we're really here talking about a colorful, BioCeramic take on the vaunted Fifty Fathoms. Okay, okay... yes, every pod and blog is going to talk about this, and we're no different. (Actually, we ARE a bit different) Now that the actual design has been revealed, we share our thoughts on the latest monster watch collaboration, and take it a step further by nominating some brands/models from OUTSIDE Swatch Group for potential future mashups. Sure, they'll probably never do any of our suggested collabs, but let's be honest... five years ago did ANY of us see the MoonSwatch coming? Never say never, amirite?! This, some fun rec's, and our salute to the Parrothead-in-chief, Jimmy Buffett. We hope he's sipping margs and enjoying his cheeseburgers in paradise. Thanks for listening.

Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, OMEGA is seen as one of the most prominent watch brands in the world today. Owned by the Swatch Group, and worn by everyone's favorite British spy, OMEGA is a very significant brand that always plays alongside the likes of Rolex and Breitling. In this episode we're discussing everything from their founding in Switzerland to the creation of the OMEGA caliber where the brand got its name, the Speedmaster Professional getting a screaming endorsement from NASA, and everything in between. OMEGA is full of history, and its current watch collection is full of variety. We discuss the Aqua Terra and its more than 200 variations, the Seamaster Professional 300 and its flawed bracelet, Speedmaster Professional, and Globemaster Constellation to name a few. We also discuss the MoonSwatch, and whether or not that was a good idea for the brand in the long term. Welcome to this week's episode of Fratello Talks. This time, Nacho, Lex, and Thomas light a candle, dim the lights, and get nice and cozy as they touch on the topic of MoonSwatch. After a stunning debut, the Omega × Swatch Speedmaster MoonSwatch has struggled to follow up on its initial hype. We have been following along with the latest developments and have been left a little bit baffled. So, we ask ourselves the question: "how do we feel about the current state of the MoonSwatch?" We also look at what the future of this collaboration might look like, making some wild guesses and predictions.
We have seen quite a few new watch releases over the last few months. Many coincided with Watches and Wonders but many brands have released watches independent of the event. Fratello On Air is here with loads of new watches in this episode. No, it's not Watches & Wonders, but it's busy nonetheless! There's a new Fratello Collaboration and even a MoonSwatch!New watches season is definitely here! Balazs and I take some time to discuss some of the latest pieces to ensure they get coverage before the Watches & Wonders onslaught begins! Settle in and enjoy!Handgelenks KontrolleBefore getting to all the new watches, Balazs kicks things off with a decidedly old watch. In fact, this is a pretty lousy piece because it's a so-called office GMT. Yes, he's sporting a watch that no one wants, a vintage Rolex 1675! Mike kicks off the new release topic with a vintage Excelsior Park "Tuxedo Dial" chronograph. This sets our main topic in focus because Excelsior Park just announced that this watch will be their next release. Exciting!New WatchesWe kick things off with the newly announced Seiko Prospex GMT Divers and despite the fact that they're not "pilot's" GMT's, we really like them. That golden GMT hand is the bee's knees! Next, we mention the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer because it was pitted against the Seiko in a recent Sunday Morning Showdown. It has a fancier movement, but we're a bit concerned about everyday legibility. Next, we broach the latest MoonSwatch and declare it to be a neat, but quickly passing event. Last but not least, we roll out the Fratello × Nivada Grenchen Racing Chronograph and talk about the different variants. Thanks so much for listening! As always, if you have episode suggestions, feel free to let us know!

The anger surrounding the new Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Moonshine Gold was very visible in the comments section on our website. It was less noticeable during the Swatch "pop-up" sales event in Zurich on March 7th. We did a report here, but we also want to discuss the watch itself a bit more in-depth. How does the story sit with us, do we like the watch as such? Listen to our Fratello Talks podcast of this week to find out.
Today we chat with Giles Ellis, the infectiously passionate founder of Schofield Watches. Ellis has been making his distinctively-cased watches since 2010. Ellis started making watches for the best possible reason — he was looking for a watch he wanted to wear, and nothing on the market at the time was *quite* right, so he made his own. The brand came about organically after that, and Ellis has stuck to his design principles since then. We also chat to Ellis about why UK watchmaking has the appeal and cachet that it does, and what a watch inspired by Japan looks like. Before that, Felix and Andy chat about why the latest MoonSwatch is an object lesson in hype management and why Mr Porter's list of the best watch podcasts is on the money. Spoiler alert: they're disappointed! Then, Rick is joined for an interview by Matthieu Humair, the man at the helm of Watches and Wonders, to discuss the upcoming show and what to expect this year. Lex, Nacho, and RJ talk about Swatch and its upcoming 40th birthday! One of the coolest brands of the 1980s celebrates 4 decades of amazing and colorful watches. Last year put this brand back on the horological map with the MoonSwatch, but there's so much more to the brand that saved the entire Swiss watch industry in the 1980s. In this episode, Lex, Nacho, and RJ show the plastic watch a lot of love, not only because of the MoonSwatch but also for many other Swatch variations.
