Mark Allen particularly is a bit excited today as we have one of his heroes on the pod, the legendary Bradley Hughes has joined us at the Talk Birdie To Me desk.Hugo tells us how he got into golf, and Mark asks him why he chose golf over football - he was a very good footy player. He also talks about his experiences with Greg Norman as a young player. Nick asks Hugo about his acceleration and ball striking. We find out about the process of turning pro, and how his first tournament went. Hugo had a dream start to his pro career, playing very well, very early.Hugo describes his first year in Europe as a 'disaster' and explains why. He tells Nick and Mark what the pinnacle of Hugo's tournament career was. He played in the inaugural Presidents Cup and explains what that was like, and when he had a crack at his playing partner Nick Price.Mark asks Hugo about his coaching techniques, and he explains why he initially ignores grip and swing, and just teaches people how to flush the ball. He tells us about his 'guinea pig' student. Hugo gets into the simulator to show us what he teaches - apologies for the audio here, we're still working on that mic, but you'll be able to hear his comments - and when the video goes up you can watch Hugo in the simulator.Hugo explains and shows how his DownUnder board works. John Mahaffey shares his memories of Arnold Palmer and how the King helped him get his life straightened out after 10+ years of drinking. We look back to the early days of The Player Championship when it first moved over to the Pete Dye Stadium course and what it's like trying to deal with the swirling winds around the 17th hole. John compares it to trying to figure out how the winds swirl on the 12th hole at Augusta National. We also get an update on his Nemesis mystery novel series. If you love golf wrapped inside a mystery check out his books, Shafted, Unfinished Business, and Dead Quiet on Amazon or www.johnmahaffeyauthor.com. Michael Gibson is one of the all-time great club and golf ball fitters. He has a true passion for it. At the end of each day he asks himself if he did everything he could to help the people he worked with that day. Michael and I talk through how to test which is the right golf ball for our game. We also get into how to figure out the correct bounce and grind for your wedges based on your local turf conditions. David Turner is a Developer currently working with Nick Price and David Ledbetter on a new private golf club outside of Sarasota called Soleta Golf Club. We hear why it's important to all of them not to disturb the local wetlands and preserve the natural surroundings. No homes will be built on the course so players will be consumed by the game and nature. It is set to be one of the premier private clubs in the country. They are aiming to have it ready for play in late 2024 or early 2025. Check out the course online at www.soletagolf.com. I round out this week's show with a visit from Popticals CEO Gary DiSalvo. Popticals are the best sunglasses I've ever worn. They are geared for people who enjoy being outdoors. They are second to none for blocking glare and helping us see with more clarity on the course, while fishing, hunting, skiing, whatever takes you outdoors. Gary tells us about their NYDEF polycarbonate lenses which are super lightweight but have the same clarity as glass. Their patented rail system allows us to fold them up and pack them away in a small hard case that protects them from breaking or getting scratched up if you prefer to keep them in your golf bag. The case also fits easily into your pocket, so if you're at a concert, it starts to get dark, or you go indoors, you don't have to ask someone to hold them for you, keep them sitting on top of your head, or hang them on your shirt. See these wonderful sunglasses online at www.popticals.com.

Clark says John has been the same guy going all the way back to their junior golf days. Clark turned pro in 1986 and we hear about his first victory on the then Nike Tour defeating Jim Furyk and Sonny Skinner in a playoff at the 1993 Bakersfield Open. Clark finished T6 at the 1994 US Open at Oakmont. He watched from the 10th fairway as Arnold Palmer walked up 18 for the final time in his US Open career. He right in the thick of it until the back 9 on Sunday. We also hear about Clark's back-to-back Senior Italian Open titles and how he came from 6 shots back during the final round of the 2017 Dutch Masters tournament to take home the trophy. Steve Fluke is the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer for Power2Golf. They've designed a swingless golf club for adaptive golfers who can no longer swing a club. It's a fascinating device which players can dial up distances, change trajectory, and hit fades and hooks. He takes us through what is literally the rocket science behind the club. Tom Patri joins me in the final segment and we discuss the weekend warrior rules of golf plus rules we'd change if we were Commissioner for a day.

Joris Minne, Northern Ireland's most respected food critic, takes Jaega Wise on a culinary expedition to show how the politics of peace have helped revolutionise the local food scene. He remembers how the Troubles destroyed the night time economy and forced the majority of the region's restaruants to pull down the shutters during the 1970's and 80's. He describes how the Good Friday Agreement, signed twenty five years ago this month, persuaded a group of pioneering chefs to open new restaurants, which encouraged people to start eating out again and to appreciate the value of home grown produce. Today, Belfast boasts three Michelin starred restaurants; there's a proliferation of cafes and coffee shops; many pubs pride themselves on fresh seasonal menus and there are food trucks everywhere, serving a huge variety of dishes. Joris introduces Jaega to one of those pioneering chefs, Nick Price, who opened a wine bar in a derelict part of Belfast in the early 1990s. The area has developed into the Cathedral Quarter – the centre of the city's nightlife. Jaega meets Michele Shirlow, who founded Food NI, an association which promotes local food and helps producers expand their markets. In Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland's second city, she visits the Walled City Brewery, with its own restaurant and tap room, established on the site of a former British Army base. The brewery was opened by James Huey, who moved to Dublin at the height of the Troubles but was encouraged, by the peace process, to return to his home city to open his own business. Back in Belfast, Jaega gets the opportunity to taste some artisan dishes at one of Belfast's newest food ventures, Trademarket - a pop up food and retail market, housed in shipping containers in the city centre. Joris says it's a trend driven by a new generation of young chefs and the power of social media - a sign of how much Belfast has caught up with the food culture in other parts of the United Kingdom. Finally, Jaega calls at the home of Zehara Hundito who runs a small takeway business, A Taste of Ethiopia, from her kitchen. Zehara mixes her own spices and has found a way to make injera flatbread without the traditional Ethiopian teff flour. She's planning to open her own shop and cafe - a reflection of how the peace process has led many different nationalities to choose to live and work in Northern Ireland.....and bring their food customs. Joris acknowledges that Northern Ireland shares the same economic and social problems as other regions of the United Kingdom and he accepts that the peace process is not yet complete but he's confident that the worst of times are over and that the food revolution is here to stay.

Happy Advent Season. For the first 24 days of December 2022 our podcast host, Mark Immelman, will be doing 'Short-form' podcasts with Tips from The PGA TOUR, Video Golf Tips posted on his Social Media Channels, and the usual “Long-form' #OntheMark Podcast Interviews with Featured Guests. In this episode Mark discusses how a reliable "Go-To Shot" is a must-have for every golfer, from the PGA TOUR to the Club level. He illustrates how PGA TOUR stars, like Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas, have a go-to shot for when things aren't going as well as planned. Mark also shares a lesson from Hall-of-Famer, Nick Price, on the value of navigating a bad day with a respectable score.  Our podcast host also illustrates how a one-dimensional ball-flight is easier to achieve and oftentimes better for increased consistency. All of these PGA TOUR insights and lessons are things that all of the game's leading players consistently do. They are elements that Mark has witnessed during his years as an on-course announcer and they are all but guaranteed to lower your scores.

Three-time major championship winner, Nick Price, begins by taking us back to the early frustrations and heartbreaks at the majors including the challenges of Augusta and tough Open Championship losses to Seve at Lytham in 1988 and earlier having one hand on the Claret Jug in 1982 at Troon when Tom Watson prevailed. He recognizes the lessons he took away from these which prepared him for a terrific stretch of golf in the early 1990's where he prevailed at the 1992 PGA at Bellerive, the 1994 Open at Turnberry and, later that year, the PGA at Southern Hills. Nick Price looks back on a Hall of Fame career and finishes with his thoughts on how he would like to be remembered as a golfer, "FORE the Good of the Game."
