Season 3, Episode 9. AJ chats with Billy Bud. As the Production Manager of the historic Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Billy has had a front row seat for some of the greatest shows ever. For over 30 years, Billy has been setting the stage for some of the most legendary national acts as well as local musicians who are living their dreams by playing on that stage. You would think this would be plenty to talk about, but before his club days, he was the tour manager for one of Boston's most important bands: The Atlantics. Lots to cover, I'll stop typing, so you can stop reading and simply enjoy the show.
Much of their music is in the Irish language, part of their fight to keep the language alive. Kneecap's Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap join Radio Boston ahead of a sold-out show at the Paradise Rock Club.

#WindyCityJoes #DaltonandtheSheriffs #WideAwakeWindy City Joe's Michael & Jackson sat down with the incredibly talented Scully from Dalton & The Sheriffs while he was in the car outside of his kid's parent teacher conference. Fueled by a fervent fan base, Dalton & the Sheriffs has been many things over the past 11 years, from an acoustic act to pay the bills, to a nationally touring outfit of hired guns. But — at long last — it is finally something it has never been before: a true band. The additions of Ryan Jackson (guitars and keys), Jay Tagg (guitars), Dennis Walsh (bass), and Jake Wertman (drums) coalesced in the moments before the pandemic during a show at the legendary Paradise Rock Club in Boston on March 10, 2020. Rather than standing still during the pandemic, the band became a corporation, sold shares to their friends and released 23 new songs under the watchful ears of producer Kevin Billingslea at Halo Studio. Armed with a two albums' worth of new material, the band has launched an aggressive touring schedule, highlighted by their headlining turn at the 5,000 capacity Leader Bank Pavilion on August 27th, 2021.Follow Dalton & The Sheriffs: https://www.daltonandthesheriffs.com/subscribe for more content - https://linktr.ee/windycityjoes Presented by Untied EntertainmentMusic: I'm Never Drinking Again by Josh Kiser - https://www.instagram.com/kiserkountry

Jeff is a very talented lighting designer, programmer, set designer and board operator for the Rock American band, All Time Low. He has also worked with the likes of Good Charlotte, The Dresden Dolls, The Gaslight Anthem, just to name a few. Jeff has designed shows from arenas to small venues. He loves the challenges of creating in new, challenging environments. In early 2000, Jeff started out as a booking agent for local bands in CT. He than moved to Boston in late 2000 to attend Emerson College majoring in TV/Video. To earn some sort of income and to stay in the industry, he started working as a barback at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA in 2003. Barbacking was a fun job but wasn't exactly what he had his sights set on. Jeff wanted to tour and see the world. Soon, he was trained as one of the house LDs at The Paradise in 2004. Then became the main house LD at AXIS in Boston, MA in 2005. He continued to hone and develop my skills there as much as he possibly could. Got offered his first tour in 2006 and haven't looked back since. https://jeffmaker.com/#about https://www.instagram.com/jeffmaker/

This week, we look at Phish’s legendary show from the Paradise Rock Club, in Boston, on January 26, 1989. In yet another example of Phish refusing to play by the rules set by mainstream music, the band rented out the room and sold tickets against it. We hear from one of the guys who was involved in helping to sell out the show, and we talk about the band’s forays into Boston and New York in 1989. About a year ago we had the great opportunity to speak with Baseball Writer’s hall of famer and longtime musician Mr. Peter Gammons at his annual event celebrating the Peter Gammons College Scholarship. This scholarship, which allows Boston and Chicago area high school students a cash scholarship to the college of their choice has sent 150 Boston and Chicago area students to college by awarding them over $600,000 in scholarships. But this wonderful foundation is only one piece of the puzzle – just one beneficiary of many in Boston and Chicago under the umbrella of the Foundation To Be Named Later. After Theo Epstein became the general manager of the Red Sox in 2002, being a guitar player himself, Peter Gammons asked Theo to join him onstage for the next Hot Stove event. And so the Foundation to be named later was born. The foundation – now celebrating its 20thyear, is dedicated to improving lives through education and leadership and works to raise funds and awareness for nonprofit agencies serving urban youth and families. Keller Williams is the festival scene's Renaissance man and court jester rolled into one smiling package! As a multi-instrumentalist of the highest order he is equally at home on the guitar, bass, sequencing pedals and the always entertaining "Making horn noises with your mouth" thing. When you factor those skills in with his ability to effortlessly leapfrog from genre to genre Keller Williams is the perfect act to play at any festival. Whether with his funk band More Than A Little, his bluegrass partnership with recent Rex-A-Vision guests Larry & Jenny Keel, his willingness to work with anyone named Andy to occasionally fronting the entirety of the String Cheese Incident Keller Williams is a Swiss Army knife of awesome! On a personal note, Keller is one of the original reasons I fell into the Jam scene and my love for his quirky personality and positive energy knows no bounds! Kimbra is an award-winning, world-touring musician from New Zealand who's new record Primal Heart is out April 20. She's won a bunch of awards (Grammy, ARIA, APRA, New Zealand Music Awards, etc) and worked with well-known peers (Brian Wilson, Queens of the Stone Age, The Roots, Childish Gambino, Skrillex, Gotye, The Dillinger Escape Plan, among others). She's also a super kind, thoughtful, and amiable person, which, in my opinion, is the most important part of this whole paragraph. Kimbra and I hopped on the phone for our conversation and she invited me to photographer her at her tour kickoff at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. We talked about moving around the world, anxieties around growing up in the limelight, finding a mantra, and how love is all around us. And yep, she answered Five Questions. Meet Kimbra.

Episode 32: During his sophomore year at Boston University, Tim saw an opportunity to bridge the rest of the world with the Boston music scene. He had just seen one of his first shows, Wiz Khalifa at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. Tim always enjoyed writing growing up, had a good taste for music and recognized he could be part of the scene and not just a fan. A year and a half later after launching his blog, The Fresh Heir, he had written over 1,500+ articles, album reviews, reviews of shows he had attended, and more- all by himself- and was creating as much content as possible. All the while he was slowly beginning to build genuine relationships with people in the industry. He booked Chance The Rapper his very first show in the city (who is now headlining Boston Calling music festival in May!), he has played a role in creative direction and management for artists like Cam Meekins, Cousin Stizz, Michael Christmas and many more. One of the main reasons he has gotten to where he is today is because he has never chased the money, he’s only chased after what his passions have been. Tim elaborates on some of the biggest moments of his career to date-achievements like selling out Paradise Rock Club two weeks before the show and waking up to a text of a video of Drake on his birthday with the OVO crew bumping “Shoutout”, a Stizz record. We talk about planning for the long-run, letting relationships build naturally and organically, being patient and letting life take its course, not burning bridges, the perspective that luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and the idea of just starting something but being a student willing to study and learn. — Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new interviews (and more) weekly: http://bit.ly/2zprpon Follow us on Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/2hcSBws Subscribe to iTunes: http://apple.co/2yE0u9l Follow us on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2j82AHF Follow Bobbbaaaay on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2Ap24ce Twitter: http://bit.ly/2hj6Ljm
