5 steg till kärleksfulla relationer Visste du att: om vi vill skapa förändring är det betydligt smartare att fokusera på det positiva än att försöka ta bort det negativa? På engelska säger vi; If you want to make a change it is easier to add positive than to eliminate negatives.  forskning visar att oavsett ålder, kan vi skapa nya fysiska neurala spår i hjärnan? Eva Berlander

How do you define love? What is it exactly? Listen to the beginning of this episode and you will hear one of the best definitions of love ever. Knowing this definition will make it clear as a bell what you have to do to get more love in your life. Source: Dr. Pat Love author of The Truth About Love (https://amzn.to/3r7Rzcu) While we all know humans are social creatures, we have actually become much less social than in previous generations. People have fewer friends, more people than ever do not have a best friend, many of us claim to feel lonely and don't know our neighbors. And certainly politics has created a lot of division and isolation. We are simply less connected. This is a real problem according to Geoffrey Cohen, professor of psychology and organizational studies at Stanford University and author of the book, Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides (https://amzn.to/3r82Nhi). Listen as he explains why human connection is so important and offers practical suggestions for creating more connections in your life.  There are 40 million miles of roads in the United States. While you probably don't think much about them, they are vital to our way of life. They get us from here to there. Yet, there is a price to pay for having the convenience of all these roads. Animals pay a big part of that price. Roads are hazardous to them. And when your car hits an animal it is hazardous and often expensive for you. There are other important consequences to having our network of roads you may not have considered. Here to explain it all is Ben Goldfarb. He is a writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic and other publications and he is author of the book Crossings: How Road Ecology Is Shaping the Future of Our Planet (https://amzn.to/44OpLI6) Could the shoes you wear reveal something about your personality? It's not the same as sexual incest – but can certainly cause its own type of damage. It falls within the dynamic of enmeshment but has its own definition and characteristics. Emotional incest is defined as a parent turning to a child to meet their emotional needs instead of having that relationship with an adult.  We'll talk about how it happens and how it's so often missed since it can appear as if all is normal, when it's not at all. And as always, we'll focus on what you can do about it. The listener voicemail is from someone who used what she called discipline to parent but her kids have some resentment toward her. Pat Love started a community website to help seniors and it turned out, surprisingly, to be good for business too. I’ve lived in Upper Lonsdale area for 20 years and love its diversity and convenience. Having raised my children here I appreciate the neighbourly feel of the community. They enjoyed attending Larson Elementary, Balmoral and Carson Graham (two of those, I also attended). Prior to becoming a realtor, I worked as a hairstylist who always had a passion for law. Realizing early, that the hairdressing business would wear out my body, I decided to combine my love of connecting with people with my passion for law. Residential real estate services fit the bill. I’m also a bit of a serial entrepreneur (handed down from my Dad, an Engineer who owned his own firm). I worked for him and learned all about small business, followed by owning a North Vancouver restaurant for 3 years, also quite an education. I took a short break from real estate when my children were diagnosed with autism and went back to hairdressing to regroup. It was a business where there is a lot of support from your clients and co-workers too. I needed it then and it got me through a difficult time. Once my boys graduated from high school, I decided that I needed to get back to supporting my real estate career again. One part of that is my community website. It is my passion project and the enhancement it brought to my life was very unexpected. I found a gift for connecting businesses and supporting my community which I love. I strive to deliver exceptional guidance to clients with their real estate buying or selling, while understanding that this exciting, but stressful experience, requires insightful support. My experience and background has given me the foresight to identify and proactively address any potential issues. I’m particularly fond of working with seniors, am well versed in their needs, and very involved in that community. I work with a trusted group of individuals to ensure that all aspects of selling, buying, and moving are addressed, including staging, downsizing, oil tank remove, repairs and cleaning, and can recommend connections in retirement community services. Because both of my children have autism, I’m active in the special needs community. I understand the unique needs of families dealing with the challenges that come with their special gifts. Families often feel excluded from the general population because they feel that people don’t understand and often pass judgement on circumstances that present themselves. I’m very aware of how upsetting change can be for these individuals and families and will do all I can do to avoid unnecessary discomfort.   Awesome FREE Resources for YOU! Dr. Pat Love is known for warmth, humor, and her practical and research based wisdom. Her work has taken her around the world to help people understand and improve their relationships through just about every platform including magazines, TV, blogs, and workshops. Today, she talks about the inspiration she gains by new research and information in the field, how she brings couples together when there have been many years of distance and the formula for desire and true passion. She also gives a formula for passion and intimacy, the strongest predictors of longevity in relationships and the three key elements that make up real life trust.   TAKEAWAYS: [1:28] Dr. Pat Love has numerous amount of blog posts, You Tube clips, trainings and workshops that have made her a renowned relationship consultant. She is also a distinguished professor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and long-standing clinical member and approved supervisor in American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. [4:26] More research is coming out everyday to support the evidence that being there for each other during not only the fun times, but the tough ones as well is one of the main keys to a healthy and fulfilling relationship. [5:42] Many of Rob’s clients struggle and wonder how they will be sexual with their partner after there has been a betrayal. [7:11] One of Dr. Love’s motivations for writing her book Hot Monogamy was to dig in and process how to feel intimacy again when there has been a betrayal. [9:21] There are two pathways to desire, there are autogenic and psychogenic. We often stereotype all women to be “brains” and men to be “body” in term of desire, but it is more like a continuum. [11:58] The formula Dr. Love came up with in Hot Monogamy is P(passion)=S2i (two sexual beings joined by sexual intimacy). [14:21] One of the strongest predictors of longevity is emotional regulation, the ability to calm, soothe and cheer yourself no matter what is happening. [16:16] The three steps to build trust: Say what you are going to do; Do it; Repeat steps 1 and 2. [18:09] Infatuation lowers our defenses, and the desire and brain chemistry cocktail leads us to focus only on the positive instead of processing negatives. [19:55] The all too common phase of “I love you, but I’m not in love with you” isn’t always something to break up over. Often times, it presents a critical moment where the infatuation has passed and you are at the threshold of true love. [23:56] Dr. Love adapts her model and teachings based on the current research and information, and Hot Monogamy will be updated to reflect the digital age. [28:47] Dr. Love shares her experience of getting her hormones checked and taking testosterone for a couple months. She saw that all the sexual cues that related to her desire were screaming at her under the influence of 1 cc of testosterone. [32:34] The discussion of “chore play” is important for taking the time to relax, and block out some time to create desire.   RESOURCES Sex and Relationship Healing @RobWeissMSW Sex Addiction 101 Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction in Gay Men Prodependence: Moving Beyond Codependency Dr. Pat Love Hot Monogamy: Essential Steps to More Passionate, Intimate Lovemaking by Dr. Patricia Love @Pat Love facebook @DrPatLove twitter pat@patlove.com   QUOTES: “The good thing about what we do is the research keeps going out.” - P “You will never have passion without intimacy” - P “There’s a limit on how many chandeliers you will hang from, but there is no limit to intimacy.” “Vintage love, tried and true love, makes infatuation pale by comparison.” “I’m halfway between genius and stupid.” “If I even think about patting my husbands butt, I do it.” “Sex takes some work if you want a healthy sex life. This week on Relationships 2.0 my guest is Steven Stosny PhD author of Soar Above: How to Use the Most Profound Part of Your Brain Under Any Kind of Stress About the book: Success in work, love, and life depends on developing habits that activate the powerful prefrontal cortex when we need it most. Unfortunately, under stress, the human brain tends to revert to emotional habits we forged in toddlerhood: blame, denial, avoidance, reacting to a jerk like a jerk, and turning our connections into cold shoulders—or worse. In Soar Above, renowned relationship expert Dr. Steven Stosny offers a ground-breaking formula for building new, pressure-resistant habits. Based on research in psychology, neurobiology, and anthropology, Stosny will show anyone how to switch to the adult brain automatically when things get tough and to soar above the impulse to make things worse. Filled with engaging examples from his lectures and therapeutic work with more than 6,000 clients, he explains how to use two potent laws of emotion interaction--reciprocity and contagion-- to inspire those around you, creating collaboration and community instead of chaos and confusion. Most importantly, readers will learn how, through practice, they can get off the treadmill of repeating past mistakes to become their best selves at home, at work, and in the world. Stress is inevitable in life, but this illuminating book gives anyone the practical tools to rise above. About the author: Steven Stosny, Ph.D., has treated more than 6,000 people through CompassionPower, the organization he founded and has directed for more than 21 years. He is the author of Living & Loving after Betrayal, Love without Hurt: Turn Your Resentful, Angry, or Emotionally Abusive Relationship into a Compassionate, Loving One, and, with Pat Love, How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking about It. His textbook, Treating Attachment Abuse: A Compassionate Approach, set a new standard for understanding and treating family abuse and was a Behavioral Science Book Selection. His blog Psychology Today blog on relationships is one of the most popular, with nearly four million views.
