What if the worry keeping you up at night isn't a warning at all, just your brain doing what it's wired to do?In this episode, Steph unpacks the roots of worry, why our brains are wired for constant threat detection, and how that wiring shows up in daily life. She walks through the idea of neural pathways as mental highways, worn deep by old stories and habits, and explains how environment and culture can quietly fuel anxiety. Steph shares a personal story of facing a health crisis and discovering the power of surrender, not as giving up, but as accepting reality so energy can shift toward something better. Using curiosity as a tool, she shows how to move from fear into possibility, with real, practical steps for letting go of control and easing worry's grip.In this episode you'll discover:How environment influences worry and fearThe importance of surrender in mental healthUsing curiosity to shift from worry to possibilityPractical techniques to reduce worry, including surrender and curiosityYour takeaways:Worry is using imagination to predict pain, draining energy without benefit. Our brains are wired to scan for threats, which fuels worry.Old stories and neuropathways reinforce worry habits.Chapters00:00 Understanding Worry: The Human Condition05:22 Breaking the Cycle of Worry09:09 Surrender and Curiosity: Antidotes to Worry

Send us your feedback — we're listeningMorning Prayer — To Find Calm Strength and a Clear Mind Today Matthew 6:9 — “Hallowed Be Your Name” Live from London, England — where faith meets the world in daily prayer and global hope Lima • Accra • Dubai • Manila CALM • CLARITY • STRENGTH morning prayer for calm and clear thinking • Hallowed be Your name prayer for focus • prayer when I feel unsettled and need strength • Christian prayer for a sound mind and peace • prayer to steady my thoughts today Matthew 6:9 (NIV) “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.'” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” This is your morning prayer for calm, clarity, and quiet strength. If your thoughts feel unsettled, or your mind feels pulled in different directions, this moment is for you. This is a prayer to steady your thinking and receive strength from God. We are praying from the words of Jesus in the Lord's Prayer — “Hallowed be Your name.” Father, as this morning continues, we gently turn our attention back to You. Not in a rush. Not in pressure. But with a quiet willingness to be still. Your name is holy. Above every thought. Above every feeling. Above every concern that tries to take our focus. You are steady. And Your Spirit within us brings calm, not confusion. So we pause here. We allow our thoughts to settle. We allow our breathing to slow. We allow our hearts to rest in You. And Your Word reminds us that You have given us a spirit not of fear— but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. So I release the unsettled thoughts. I release the tension I have been carrying. I release the quiet unease within me. I release it. And now, I receive. I receive a calm and steady mind. I receive strength to move through this day. I receive clarity in my thoughts and peace in my heart. I receive. And now I move forward gently. Not forced. Not hurried. But led by Your Spirit. Today, I will think clearly. I will respond calmly. I will walk in quiet strength. God is with you now. You are not alone in this moment. Across the world, wherever we are listening, You are bringing clarity and calm. From Lima to Accra, from Dubai to Manila, Your Spirit is steadying minds and strengthening hearts. Jesús, calma mi mente y fortalece mi espíritu hoy. Jesus Cristo, acalma a minha mente e fortalece o meu espírito hoje. Jesus, pinapatahimik Mo ang aking isip at pinalalakas ang aking puso. Father, we honour You. We centre ourselves in You. What does it take to finally walk away from drinking when you love the party, love your people, and have never once thought of yourself as someone with a problem? Brooke was a high-functioning extrovert running a business and raising a family when a quiet voice in her head kept telling her something was off. Once she found The Path and started doing the real work, she discovered how alcohol-free living improved her anxiety in ways she never anticipated, and two and a half years later she has not looked back once. Brooke discusses: The brain scan that first linked her alcohol use to her health and sparked a decade-long journey toward change Taking 10 months alcohol-free, returning to drinking after a family trip, and why she never judged herself for it How COVID neighborhood happy hours quietly accelerated her relationship with alcohol Joining The Path in August 2023 and the hungover weekend trip that became her last Discovering she was an extrovert living with social anxiety and how that reframed everything she thought she knew about her drinking How alcohol-free living improved her anxiety by removing the daily double whammy of hangxiety and giving her space to actually feel and respond The shift from "I can't have it" to "I don't want it" and what real alcohol freedom looks and feels like Morning Pages, journaling, therapy, books, and other low-barrier tools that helped her most in the early days Why self-awareness and willingness are the two things that make every other tool actually work And more on identity, belonging, and building a life that feels the same on the inside as it looks on the outside... What if working through urges to drink didn't have to feel like fighting failure? In this episode, Coaches Cole and Hayley sit down with Kristen and Nicola — two Path members — for Alcohol Freedom Coaching sessions that shine a light on how our urges to drink can become our greatest teachers rather than our enemies. Kristen drinks to escape overwhelm, creating a self-perpetuating cycle, while Nicola has been battling self-doubt that sends her spiraling when an urge to drink hits. Both coaches show their guests how curiosity, compassion, and intentional choices can help with working through urges to drink and building real confidence in living alcohol-free. In this episode, Georgie explores what so many of us are feeling right now: the relentless weight of the news cycle, the uncertainty, the noise, and the low-grade anxiety that comes from trying to make sense of a world that feels increasingly unpredictable. Rather than offering false reassurance, Georgie gets honest about why this moment feels so intense, and then walks you through four grounding practices to help you reclaim your sense of self when everything outside of you feels unstable. From setting intentional boundaries around what you consume, to returning to the certainty that already lives within you, to questioning the narratives being handed to you and choosing where you direct your attention, this episode is a reminder that while you can't control the world, you are never without agency.

What if “I deserve a drink” is just an old script you can rewrite? In today's episode, Coach Cole helps Matt notice how removing alcohol lowered his baseline stress at a new job—turning frantic mornings into steady ones and replacing dread with data. Coach Zoe supports Constance, a second-grade teacher whose activated nervous system kept her in fight-or-flight; together they connect the dots from childhood patterns to present-day overwhelm and practice coming back to the body for safety. You'll hear the role of community, self-trust, and daily practices to stay alcohol-free—from 6 a.m. calls to simple breathwork—to make change sustainable. Powerful, shame-free coaching like this happens every day inside The Path, where small experiments add up to big shifts—at work, at home, and in who you believe you can be. In Matt's Session: Managing work-related stress and anxiety without resorting to self-medication Alcohol-free benefits: showing up clearheaded and reducing work stress Building self-trust by seeing the evidence of a better life Overcoming the "I deserve a drink" mentality after a stressful day Differences between AA and The Path Recognizing the ingrained, Pavlovian nature of drinking urges and how to decondition them Daily practices to stay alcohol-free and more In Constance's Session: Coping with a constantly activated nervous system Using alcohol as a "safety valve" to "emotionally shut down" and stop playing a role Connecting current emotional regulation issues to childhood experiences Moving from external focus (saving others) to internal focus (regulating her own body) Learning tools for nervous system regulation and grounding Understanding the importance of finding a "safety container" within herself to process emotions The value of incorporating daily practices to stay alcohol-free and more Cole Harvey is a certified Naked Mind Senior Coach. Day 3 of Mood Mastery the Samurai Way is a practice for calm under pressure. Today you'll learn a Samurai Breathing Technique—a steady, disciplined breath pattern designed to help you interrupt emotional reactivity, settle your nervous system, and return to clear focus when your mood starts to surge. This is the kind of practice you can use in real life: before a difficult conversation, when you feel rushed, or the moment you notice yourself spiraling. You'll leave this episode feeling more centered, composed, and in command of your response—quiet strength, not forced positivity. Featured technique: Samurai Breathing Technique (a structured breath pattern for steadiness) Best for: stress spikes, irritability, anxious overthinking, emotional overwhelm, scattered focus Takeaway: You don't need perfect conditions to feel steady—you need a practiced return. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to Mastering Your Moods—a meditation series designed to help you stop feeling at the mercy of your emotions and start feeling steady, clear, and in charge of how you respond. Moods can shift fast—one message, one memory, one stressful moment—and suddenly you're anxious, irritated, heavy, or overwhelmed. In this series, you'll learn how to work with your nervous system instead of against it, using simple daily practices that help you regulate in real time—so you can come back to yourself without spiraling, snapping, or shutting down. This isn't about pretending you're fine; it's about building emotional skill: noticing what you feel, understanding what's underneath it, and shifting your state with calm, practical tools you can actually use in your real life. This is day 3 of a 7-day meditation series, "Mood Mastery: From Reactive to Regulated," episodes 3043-3049. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "Mushin (No Mind) Quest Musashi was known to advocate for the concept of mushin, or "no-mind," in combat. It involves acting without conscious thought, free from hesitation, fear, or distraction. By training himself to enter into a state of mushin during duels and battles, Musashi could maintain emotional equilibrium and react instinctively to his opponents' movements. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Day 1: Focus Visualization Day 2: Affirmation: "I embrace both light and shadow with equanimity." Day 3: Hara Breath: Inhale deeply through the nose, allowing the belly to expand. Exhale fully through the mouth, drawing the navel towards the spine. This technique promotes relaxation, stability, and groundedness Day 4: Diamond mudra for focus Day 5: Second Chakra to flow with change Day 6: Focus Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7: Weekly review meditation and closure SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! I explore the notion that the safest and most peaceful space we can inhabit is always accessible, regardless of external circumstances. My aim is to guide you in recognizing and nurturing the inherent peace that resides within you, often overshadowed by the distractions and chaos of daily life.We unpack the societal tendency to seek solace outside ourselves, pointing out how this quest can lead to a perpetual state of frustration and anxiety. The illusion of external control can be exhausting, pulling our attention away from the wealth of tranquility that already exists within. I emphasize that while life presents challenges and unpredictability, we can create a steady inner refuge—a sanctuary that offers steadfast calm amidst the storms of external chaos. This inner space allows us to cultivate resilience and strength, enabling us to respond thoughtfully rather than reactively to the world around us.As we begin this journey of building your inner sanctuary, I invite you to take a moment to visualize what this safe space may look like for you. Through gentle breaths and mindfulness techniques, we focus on grounding ourselves and returning to our bodies, fostering a sense of safety in the present moment. I encourage you to engage with sensory details that evoke feelings of peace, whether through the sound of water, the warmth of sunlight, or simply the natural rhythm of your breath. Each element you envision becomes a powerful anchor that helps your nervous system recognize tranquility.#InnerSanctuary, #AnxietyRelief, #FindYourCalm, #MentalWellness, #InnerPeace, #Mindfulness, #GinaRyan, #TheAnxietyCoachesPodcast, #SelfCompassion, #Breathe, #QuietStrength, #InnerRefuge, #ZenLiving, #MentalHealthMatters, #StopReactingStartResponding, #CopingSkills, #WorryFree, #MindBodyConnection, #MeditationPractice, #EmotionalSafety, #PresentMoment, #ThichNhatHanh, #TraumaInformed, #NervousSystemRegulationSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
