We recap an incredibly food-focused weekend at Walt Disney World, where we made our way through Disney Springs, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Port Orleans Riverside, and several resort dining locations in search of some of the newest and most talked-about menu items. We share our thoughts on everything from Italian favorites at Terralina Crafted Italian and massive cookies from Gideon's Bakehouse to specialty pizzas at Pizza Ponte, unique ice cream flavors at Salt & Straw, and the limited-time Pepperoni Pizza Burger from D-Luxe Burger. Along the way, we also sample Fourth of July-themed treats, Annual Passholder-exclusive Joffrey's beverages, and several seasonal desserts that are perfect for summer. The food tour continues with stops at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT, Satu'li Canteen and Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom, Scat Cat's Club at Port Orleans Riverside, Hurricane Hanna's at Disney's Beach Club Resort, and more. We break down what was worth the money, what surprised us most, and which items we'd happily order again. To wrap things up, we hand out our Foodie Superlatives, including things like Best Overall Item, Best Sweet Treat, Best Savory Item, and the one item we'd skip next time. Whether you're planning your next Disney vacation or just looking for your next must-try snack, this episode is packed with plenty of Disney food recommendations and honest reviews.

This week on the Geekin' on Walt Disney World Podcast, we're lacing up the running shoes, grabbing a beignet, and heading into a Disney trip that started with runDisney Springtime Surprise weekend — but quickly became about so much more than miles and medals. Curtis is joined by three Geekin' family favorites — Holly, Laura, and Heidi — for a fun, relaxed, and very Disney Geek-style trip report filled with race stories, resort time, lounges, surprise meetups, food talk, cruise talk, and one unforgettable green wig. Because when Holly shows up dressed as Disgust from Inside Out for a runDisney race, you know we're off to a good start. Planning Your Next Disney Adventure? If you're thinking about planning your next Disney vacation and some Epic Universe… My wife Margita and our good friend Auntie Judy are the Travelin' Tiaras — your trusted Disney travel planners. Whether you're booking Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Universal, or beyond… They'll help you plan a smart, stress-free vacation from start to finish. Already booked? And right now… there are great opportunities for upcoming travel, so it's a perfect time to start planning. Featuring This Week This episode includes: Holly, Laura, and Heidi sharing their runDisney Springtime Surprise weekend A stay at Coronado Springs and a solo stay at Port Orleans French Quarter A 10-miler, a 10K, costumes, character stops, and race-day nerves Surprise Geek meetups with Samantha, Selena, Tori, Joe, and more Food and drink stops at Le Cellier, Nomad Lounge, GEO-82, Beak and Barrel, Homecoming, and Sangria University Flower and Garden Festival bites, beignets, maple popcorn, and more Thoughts on newer Disney experiences like the Zootopia show, updated Buzz Lightyear, and Beak and Barrel A bonus cruise recap aboard Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas RunDisney, Beignets, and Green Hair The episode kicks off with Holly wearing the green wig she used for her Disgust costume during the Springtime Surprise 10-Miler — which pretty much sets the tone for the whole conversation. Holly shares that she went into the race under-trained because of a shoulder injury and made it all the way to mile nine before being swept. But what stands out is her perspective. She knew it might happen, she pushed as far as she could, and she still came away with pride, humor, and yes… the medal. Laura brings the solo-trip energy with a stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, where she enjoyed a slower pace, pool time, peaceful resort moments, and plenty of beignets. She also shares one of the funniest race moments: dressing as a bee for the Winnie the Pooh-themed 10K and trying to drink yellow Gatorade from a hard plastic honey bear bottle mid-race. That's runDisney dedication right there. Heidi took a more relaxed race approach — stopping for characters, enjoying the course, and making memories along the way. Her character stops included Nick and Judy from Zootopia, Boba Fett, Woody and Bo Peep, and Bing Bong. Some people chase personal records. Some people chase character photos. Both are absolutely valid. The Geekin' Family Shows Up One of the best parts of this episode is how the Geekin' family keeps popping into the trip. Holly and Corey meet up with Tori and Joe at Yeehaw Bob over at Port Orleans Riverside — and then get surprised when Samantha and Selena walk in. Later, Heidi gets her own surprise. And Laura talks about that feeling of traveling solo, making it through the expo chaos, and then suddenly seeing “her people” at Nomad Lounge. That's the heart of this episode. Yes, it's a trip report. But underneath the races, snacks, lounges, and Disney details is that bigger feeling we talk about all the time: Disney is better when you've found your people. Food, Lounges, and Disney Geek Favorites Of course, this wouldn't be a Geekin' trip report without food. Holly and Corey enjoyed Le Cellier, including cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread, filet, and an ice wine flight. Laura sampled tanghulu at the China booth, maple popcorn in Canada, jambalaya at French Quarter, and the crème brûlée croissant at Gaston's. Heidi had several Flower and Garden Festival hits, including duck in France, Caribbean-style chicken, flan, and a fish slider. The lounge talk is strong in this one too. Nomad Lounge remains a Geek favorite for its cozy seating, small plates, drinks, and Animal Kingdom atmosphere. GEO-82 gets praise for cocktails and mushroom flatbread. And Beak and Barrel sparks a fun comparison to Oga's Cantina and Trader Sam's — lots to look at, some cool effects, and maybe one of those places that grows on you over time. New Disney Experiences and a Cruise Bonus The group also shares thoughts on a few newer Disney experiences. Heidi talks about the new Zootopia show at Animal Kingdom and whether it really fits the deeper theme of the park. Laura gives her take on the updated Buzz Lightyear, including the new removable blasters and the joy of feeling like a Space Ranger… even when the score says otherwise. And after the Disney portion of the trip, Holly, Corey, Heidi, and Missy headed out on Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas for a four-night cruise — complete with big-ship entertainment, shows, skating, surfing, ziplining, and a water show set to '80s music. The Real Heart of the Episode The best part of this conversation is not just the race. It's not just the snacks. It's not just the lounges. It's the people. It's the surprise visits. It's the inside jokes. It's the ride photos. It's that feeling of seeing friends you may only get to see a few times a year — but when you do, it feels like a reunion. That's the Geekin' family. And that's why these trip reports always mean a little more than just “here's what we did.” They're stories about connection. Listen to Episode 668 Episode 668 of the Geekin' on Walt Disney World Podcast is available now wherever you listen to podcasts. Come for the runDisney stories. We're diving into the incredible lineup of recreation and activities offered across Disney resorts — many of them free! From campfire sing-alongs and “Movies Under the Stars” to painting classes and fireworks cruises, the resorts are bursting with entertainment that keeps the magic alive long after we've left the parks. We'll share cozy ways to wind down, like roasting marshmallows at Fort Wilderness or catching a movie poolside, and fun experiences that get the whole family moving — think poolside trivia, live music, and surrey bike rides along the Sassagoula River. We'll also talk about some of Disney's most memorable paid experiences, including horse-drawn carriage rides through the pines, pontoon boat rentals on Bay Lake, fishing excursions, and creative workshops at resorts like the Riviera and Coronado Springs. Whether we're traveling as a couple, a family, or with friends, there's something magical waiting beyond the parks — from Yeeha Bob's legendary show at Port Orleans Riverside to peaceful jogging trails around Crescent Lake.So grab your refillable mug, pull up a hammock, and join us as we explore all the fun that doesn't require a park ticket — because sometimes, the best Disney memories happen right at your resort.
We're taking our taste buds on a weekend adventure around Walt Disney World — from resort bites and zero-proof sips to full-on feasts and sweet endings. We kicked things off Thursday at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, grabbing a bite before heading to Disney Springs for an evening of food and fun. Summer House on the Lake's zero-proof cocktails, like the Pineapple Kick and Sparkling Rosé Lemonade, are perfect examples of how non-alcoholic doesn't have to mean boring, although this trip the pizza did not quite hit the mark. From there, we couldn't resist a stop at Gideon's Bakehouse, where we tried seasonal sweets like the Bride of Frankenstein Cookie, the Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookie, and the PB & Jelly Cake.Friday's lineup was a true flavor rollercoaster. Between lemon pepper chicken tenders at Magic Kingdom and a trip off-property for Benihana's, our taste buds covered just about every texture and temperature possible. Saturday brought one of our favorite types of Disney days — eat, explore, repeat. From Karamel Küche's Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich to the hearty rolls at Ale & Compass, smoky brisket from The Polite Pig, and Indian-inspired flavors at EET by Maneet Chauhan, the variety was endless. Sunday wrapped things up on the sweetest note possible — cookies from Summer House, a relaxed meal at The Boathouse, and a festive finale at Scat Cat's Café with Ghoulish Beignets and an Agave Garden mocktail that proved Disney's zero-proof game is getting strong. From sugar highs to savory standouts, this weekend reminded us why Disney dining never gets old — there's always something new to taste, try, and talk about on Main Street Magic.

We're heading down to the bayou for a live, on-site dining review of Riverside Mill Food Court at Disney's Port Orleans – Riverside Resort. This charming quick-service spot is one of our favorite places to slow down, grab a hearty meal, and soak in that peaceful Southern charm — and this time, we brought Stitch along for the adventure! We recorded right from the resort while waiting for our room to be ready, surrounded by the sounds of the Sassagoula River and the steady buzz of resort life. It was the perfect setting for an impromptu food review. We started with the Shrimp and Grits, a classic that hits all the right notes. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the ham added a smoky punch, and the chardonnay gravy sauce tied everything together beautifully.Next up were the Jerk Barbecue Chicken Strips with Pineapple Salsa, one of several new specialty chicken strip flavors now showing up across Disney property. They were tossed fresh in sauce, topped with pineapple, and served over fries — crispy, tangy, and a little spicy. And of course, we couldn't wrap things up without dessert. The new Hand-Dipped Mickey Premium Bar, coated in white chocolate and topped with salted caramel pearls. If you're staying at Port Orleans Riverside or just stopping by for a bite, Riverside Mill Food Court delivers comfort, flavor, and that unmistakable Disney charm. Join us as we share our favorite bites by the bayou — one delicious dish at a time.

We're heading down the bayou for a sibling showdown as Port Orleans Riverside takes on Port Orleans French Quarter in the latest round of Resort Wars. These two charming Moderates may share a name and a boat to Disney Springs, but when it comes to theming, food, amenities, and overall vibe—they couldn't be more different. We walk through seven battle rounds, comparing everything from room layouts and transportation to pool fun, recreation options, and value for your hard-earned vacation dollar. French Quarter brings that cozy, jazz-filled energy with colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and of course—those famous Mickey-shaped beignets. Riverside answers back with lush walking paths, Royal Guest Rooms, and the fan-favorite Yeeha Bob at River Roost Lounge. Along the way, we'll share our own experiences at both resorts, a few personal preferences, and what we think makes each one special. We also reveal the results from your votes in our Facebook poll—because this battle isn't just about us…it's about the whole Main Street Magic community. So grab your floatworks beignet or your fishing rod from Ol' Man Island, and let's settle this once and for all.

Send us a textHave you ever watched someone experience Disney World for the first time? There's something magical about witnessing that transformation from skepticism to wonder. On our latest adventure to Florida, that's exactly what happened when Kristie, previously Disney-indifferent, fell head over heels for Animal Kingdom. Our journey began with a coastal Florida road trip before diving into an action-packed two-day Disney experience. We strategically planned our park days, starting with Animal Kingdom where our rope drop strategy paid off magnificently. While crowds rushed to Flight of Passage, we conquered both Expedition Everest and Dinosaur before the park even opened to regular guests! This early start, combined with strategic Lightning Lane usage, allowed us to experience everything Animal Kingdom offers—from the breathtaking Festival of the Lion King show to the immersive animal trails where Christy spent so much time watching the gorillas we almost missed our next reservation.Food became an unexpected highlight, especially at Satu'li Canteen where we discovered incredible non-meat options during our Lent Friday visit. The Chili Garlic Shrimp Bowl with sweet potato hash and surprising boba pearls created a flavor combination that was absolutely outstanding and has become a must-try recommendation.Day two took us to Epcot during the bustling Flower and Garden Festival. Despite initial hesitation, rope dropping Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind proved to be the perfect decision. The 40-minute wait was more than worth it for what might be Disney's most thrilling and immersive new attraction. Living with the Land emerged as a surprising group favorite, while World Showcase provided essential food experiences like School Bread from Norway and fish and chips from the UK that were so good they've become a personal go-to.Perhaps most valuable was our resort hopping experience, which gave us a broader appreciation for Disney's diverse accommodations. From the elegant Grand Floridian to the rustic charm of Port Orleans Riverside, these explorations helped shape future stay preferences while creating additional magical moments outside the parks.Whether you're planning your first Disney trip or your fiftieth, we hope our experiences offer some helpful insights and inspiration.
