Joel Settecase tackles one of the most common—and misunderstood—claims about Christianity: “The Bible says you shouldn't judge.” In this episode of Worldview Legacy, Joel breaks down what Jesus actually meant in Matthew 7:1 and shows that far from forbidding judgment altogether, Scripture teaches us how to judge righteously, humbly, and biblically. You'll learn how to apply God's Word to moral evaluation without hypocrisy, how to distinguish between judgment and condemnation, and how to handle false teaching, sin in the church, and moral issues in a culture that hates discernment. Joel walks through both what kinds of judgment are prohibited and what kinds are required, giving Christian men the tools to think clearly, lead faithfully, and defend the truth with grace and courage. If you've ever been told “judge not,” this episode will equip you to respond with clarity, conviction, and a deeper understanding of God's justice and mercy.Calls to ActionJoin the Hammer & Anvil Society — the Ultimate Discipleship Community for Christian Men.Are you ready to lead with strength, courage, and faith? Spiritual abuse happens when God's Word is used to control instead of to love. But the Bible's true blueprint for family is mutual care under Christ. In this message, Pastor Roderick Webster explains the heart of Ephesians 5:22–23 and 1 Corinthians 7:4–5, showing how Scripture calls husbands and wives to serve one another in reverence for Christ. God's order is not about dominance but about divine balance—authority that protects, submission that honors, and love that heals. You'll learn:• The difference between biblical leadership and control• How “submission” is mutual in God's design• Why Christlike love always uplifts, never oppresses• How to heal from manipulation and fear
In Week 3 of our Unseen Realm series, Pastor Josh McPherson tackles demonology—not to stir fear, but to build faith. He exposes two errors (denying demons or obsessing over them), outlines what Scripture says about their limits, and shows how they harass, deceive, and accuse—yet remain decisively defeated by Jesus. The call is simple: submit to God, resist the devil, pursue holiness, and rejoice not merely that demons submit to Christ's name, but that your name can be written in heaven.Support the showThanks for listening! Biblical Parenting: The Rod, Reproof, and Raising Children in Wisdom In this powerful sermon on biblical child training, we explore the wisdom principles found throughout Proverbs about discipline, natural consequences, and preparing children's hearts for the Gospel. This message tackles one of the most misunderstood topics in Christian parenting today. What You'll Learn: Discover how natural consequences teach children about God's moral order in the world, from the sluggard who refuses to work to the principle that "whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." We examine the critical distinction between temporal earthly consequences and spiritual consequences, and why paying our debt to society doesn't cleanse our souls before God. The sermon addresses the proper use of biblical discipline, emphasizing that the rod and reproof must go together. Physical discipline without instruction frustrates children and creates confusion. We look at Proverbs 29:15 - "The rod and reproof give wisdom" - and explore how correction serves as a redirecting tool, not a soul-saving instrument. Only Christ's blood can cleanse from sin, but proper discipline helps keep children on the path where they're more likely to trust Jesus Christ. ⚠️ A Strong Warning: This message directly confronts the false doctrine of "breaking a child's will" and harsh, abusive parenting that drives children away from God. Parents who beat their children without love and instruction should be ashamed. The goal is to prepare tender hearts to receive Christ, not to create fear and resentment.

Tucker Carlson and Senator Ted Cruz recently reignited a centuries-old theological debate: Should Christians automatically support the modern nation of Israel? In this thought-provoking episode, Joel Settecase dives deep into the Scriptures—Genesis, Romans, Galatians—to dissect whether the Bible actually teaches unconditional support for the state of Israel. What does it mean to be a descendant of Abraham? Has the land promise already been fulfilled? And how should Christians view the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in light of the Gospel? This is not just a political episode—it's a biblical one. Whether you're pro-Israel, skeptical, or just want biblical clarity, this episode will challenge and sharpen your understanding.
This is part 3 of our response series on The Incarnate Christ and His Critics. Today we get to the heart of the case for the deity of Christ to see if it holds up to scrutiny. In addition to considering whether the name “Jesus” and the title “son of God” implies divinity, we look at the 8 major texts in which the New Testament allegedly applies the title “God” to Jesus, including John 1.1, 18; 20.28; Romans 9.5; Hebrews 1.8; Titus 2.13; 2 Peter 1.1; and 1 John 5.20. In each we briefly explain why evangelicals take the passage to teach the deity of Christ and then show what it really means in its context. Over and over we find that these foundation texts are actually built upon the unstable sands of manuscript differences, translation ambiguity, and strained interpretations rather than solid bedrock. What the Bible actually has to say about what makes someone a pastor just might shock you!
Matthew Bates joins us today to work out salvation. What is it? What have we got wrong? In our contemporary moment, we find ourselves wrestling with a profound misunderstanding of the gospel - a narrative that has been truncated, individualized, and stripped of its royal, communal essence. The gospel is not merely a personal transaction about individual salvation, but a comprehensive royal announcement about Jesus the Christ. For too long, both Protestant and Catholic traditions have inadvertently narrowed the expansive biblical vision of salvation. We've reduced faith to mental assent or ritualistic practice, when in reality, faith is fundamentally about allegiance - a comprehensive, embodied loyalty to King Jesus that transforms not just individuals, but entire communities and, ultimately, all of creation. Matthew seeks to recover a more holistic understanding. We are saved not just from something, but for something: the full restoration of our image-bearing capacity, the renewal of God's glory in and through us. This isn't about personal spiritual escapism, but about participating in a cosmic restoration project. In our conversation today, we'll explore how reimagining salvation as allegiance can bridge denominational divides, challenge our narcissistic cultural assumptions, and invite us into a more profound understanding of discipleship. We're not just talking about theological abstractions, but about a transformative way of being in the world. Prepare to have your understanding of the gospel radically expanded. Matthew W. Bates is Professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary. His books have won top honors from Christianity Today, Outreach Magazine, Jesus Creed, and Englewood Review. When he isn't hiking, baseballing, or chasing his seven children, he co-hosts the OnScript podcast. A Protestant by conviction, Bates holds a PhD in theology (New Testament) from the University of Notre Dame. His popular titles include Salvation by Allegiance Alone, Why the Gospel?, The Gospel Precisely, and The Birth of the Trinity. He lives with his family in Quincy, Illinois. If God is sovereign, as the Bible says, then how can human beings have free will? Those who subscribe to certain sects of Calvinism might say that humans can't possibly have free will because God does all the choosing. But is that what Paul was really getting at when he penned the Book of Romans? This week's podcast episode dives into a listener's burning question about the context of Romans 9 and the doctrine of election. Does the Bible REALLY teach that God chooses some people for salvation and others for Hell? Does God harden hearts against our free will? Tune in as Frank tackles these questions and many more, including:What questions should you ask when reading the Bible?Did God really hate Esau? And does He hate people today? What kind of Election is Romans 9 talking about? If God knows what humans will choose, does that cancel free will? What does a demonic goddess of Egypt have to do with any of this? How does Romans 9 affirm the historicity of Moses? You may be predestined to hear this week's podcast episode because Frank will cover a lot of Scripture in a short amount of time, so grab a pen and your Bible!
