Rachel Butera just simply has too much talent to keep a low profile. Growing up in New Jersey, she knew she had a gift for voices and impersonations, but she decided not to use her gifts and went to work in the corporate world instead. Despite the ‘normal’ job she did during the day, those … Continued
Is it Jane Fonda? Is it Rosie O'Donnell? No, it's Rachel Butera (Howard Stern Show fan favorite) doing perfect impressions of them! Our hot British announcer, Simon Mathis, co-hosts, and we discuss (among other things) Austin Wolf, who finally broke his silence about that infamous airplane bathroom sex video.
New York Comic Con was a lot of fun, and I look forward to recapping some of the highlights - although, truthfully, this con more than most was more about the people, my friends, than it was any new product. A lot of the premieres and sneak previews were pretty lame. And in any case, any NYCC talk will have to wait until after I recap the Better Call Saul season finale tomorrow. So, let me take this opportunity to do what no other voice actor seems willing to - call out Rachel Butera for her disgusting mockery of sexual assault survivor Christine Blasey Ford, as she poured out her heart and relived her trauma, at incredible risk to her reputation and safety while Rachel thought it would be funny to mock her and post it on social media. Before Disney gives her the pass it refused James Gunn and decides to keep her on Star Wars Resistance - as if it weren't awful enough already - let me remind them of their moral duty to fire her. It's also the job of Murphy Brown to justify it's revival as an antidote to misogyny to fire this disgusting bully who mocks victims during the worst moment of their lives, to gin up publicity and to begin working on a second career as a professional "victim" of "political correctness" - i.e., someone who generates millions of dollars in contributions from troglodytes, people to whom she will become a folk hero for joining them in beating down poor Dr. Ford, whose life has already been destroyed beyond measure while Butera somehow remains above reproach by a community that frankly really disappoints me. If you don't speak up now, why are you bothering with a career based on self-expression? Go work at the post office, where if you don't say anything about an awful co-worker for fear of rocking the boat, you'll be fine. How anyone who lets this go can sleep at night is a mystery to me. OK, stepping of my soapbox now. Also, Star Wars Resistance is hot garbage, but that was already well known before Rachel opened her diseased mouth and joined in the bullying of Dr. Ford. Oh dear, it’s uh... been a week, hasn’t it? In this episode of Rebel Dispatch, Holly and Klaudia are joined by their first ever guest and good friend of the pod, Chris (@ChrisHSwift) to discuss all the recent happenings concerning Star Wars: Resistance. The Rachel Butera incident is discussed first up, and we’ll take this moment to remind you all to BELIEVE SURVIVORS, don’t be an ass. The many facets of this incident are discussed, from it being straight up awful, to what it means for it to have been the voice actress for LEIA, OF ALL CHARACTERS, to have done it. Moving on from that, the recently released cast interviews on the Star Wars Show, the “Aces” video, and the Resistance trailer are all discussed at great length. These discussions bring up such highlights as: arguments over Dave Filoni, Chris threatening a droid, and declaring Christopher Sean to be the Oscar Isaac of animated Star Wars. And of course, it wouldn’t be an episode of Rebel Dispatch without occasional deviations, this time including petitioning for the Days of Our Lives writers to write for Star Wars, Poe Dameron’s pants in TLJ and Episode IX, and of course, discussing how gay we wish Episode IX would be. As always, Rebel Dispatch can be found on Twitter @_RebelDispatch and can be contacted by email at rebeldispatchpod@gmail.com. Please feel free to contact us with any feedback, questions, or any potential future discussion points! Hosts Holly and Klaudia can also be found on Twitter @_Hollytweets and @Kaludiasays and guest Chris can be found @ChrisHSwift. May The Force be with all us.

Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of 13-year-old boys practicing their Rich Little impersonations for an hour daily for no reason at all… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! "First Impressions with Dana Carvey" When Rachel Butera appeared on the TV show “America’s Got Talent” in 2014, the man who declared himself “America’s Judge” had to disqualify himself from voting on the impressionist’s talent because he was the one who already put her on the map. So, after she squeezed Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopie Goldberg and Joan Rivers into 90 seconds of vocal magic, there was only one thing that Howard Stern, the King of All Media, could say to her: “You’re somebody I believe in… I’m proud of you.” RACHEL BUTERA podcast excerpt: "For people who know the Howard Stern Show, I competed in the 2010 Staff Impressions Contest. I did Tracey Millman, who used to work on the show and she used to call everybody a 'douche.' And Little Lupe, the porn star. And Underdog Woman, the woman who wears the cape and dances around in parades like Underdog." Rachel’s comedy and impressions do her Jersey heritage proud – the Bloomfield native lets her characters rip, both in language and tone. Comedian Rachel Butera In addition to working as a standup and frequent TV and radio guest, she also has a growing body of work in commercials and cartoons, which makes sense when you experience the full range of her voices. This summer, Rachel will appear on the new USA Network comedy competition series “First Impressions,” starring Dana Carvey and hosted by Freddie Prinze, Jr. It’s a funny show, populated by impressionists, and airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. RACHEL BUTERA podcast excerpt: "Being on 'First Impressions' was fun but it was nerve-wracking because it was all improv! I'm not that comfortable at improv. I like to write things out, so I was really nervous. But it was super-fun. And Dana Carvey was so sweet!" But you don’t have to wait for Rachel’s episode of “First Impressions” to air before getting a taste of her work – just follow her hourly insights on Twitter @RachelAButera and you’ll read updates such as: “I just pulled a long gray hair off my vibrator.
