Invoking ancestry, magic, and a deep relationship with the Dead, this week's guest Perdita Finn invites listeners into a world of mystery. Perdita's work, including her new book Take Back the Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World, calls humanity to engage with a faith in the unseen world, a faith in surrender, and a faith in the other side. For Perdita, this faith is not rooted in an otherworldly abstract idea of spirituality, but rather a grounded, embodied experience. As we come to face the existential questions of our time – war, climate change, and disasters of all kinds – Perdita reminds us that we are not alone. We can lean on our ancestors, both human and more-than-human, for strength. As we live into the long story of our souls, what wisdom can we pull from lives beyond this one? Tapping into creativity, resilience and connectedness, life comes after life, comes after life, and the meaning of our cyclical lineage is ever-present.   Perdita Finn is the co-founder, with her husband Clark Strand, of the non-denominational international fellowship The Way of the Rose, which inspired their book The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. Co-Creator of The Archetypal Podcast, Julienne Givot, returns for this very special podcast and interview with Perdita Finn! Perdita, Julienne and Cyndera discuss the deep meaning and magic inherent in having a daily connection with ancestors, and all friends, beyond the grave. Perdita Finn's father, a doctor, used to arrive home in the middle of the night and find his three-year-old daughter sitting in the dark in front of a broken figurine from some lost Nativity scene of the Virgin Mary. Not only was their family not religious but Perdita would not even see the inside of a church for another decade. Perdita didn't remember this...and her father would not tell her this story until just before his death. It took her almost a half century to uncover her childhood devotion and to begin to make sense of it. A longtime Zen student, she decided she'd had enough of priests and lineages and fundraising campaigns soon after the birth of her children. She preferred to be out in the woods with her kids and caring for various wild animals they discovered that needed help. Once they rehabilitated 16 baby possums together. A pet goose marched up and down the long driveway to their house in the Catskills. In 2011 in the events described in The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary her life changed forever. Rediscovering her devotion to the Lady freed her own voice at last. She is the co-founder with her husband Clark Strand of The Way of the Rose, an eco-feminist rosary fellowship dedicated to the rights of the earth and the rights of women. Have you ever wondered if you could heal a relationship with someone AFTER they die? Or if you can connect with your loved ones who have crossed over? According to this week's guest, Perdita Finn, author of Take Back the Magic – Conversations with the Unseen World, the answer is absolutely! Last week I shared my review of this miraculous book, and this week we have the honor of speaking with Perdita Finn and hearing her amazing story of healing her relationship with her late father. If you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you know that this is Perdita's fourth appearance, and for good reason. I truly believe her work with helping us connect with our ancestors and deceased loved ones is crucial at this time on the planet. If you are new to her work, let me introduce you: Perdita Finn is the co-founder, with her husband Clark Strand, of the non-denominational international fellowship The Way of the Rose, which inspired their book The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. In addition to extensive study with Zen masters, priests, rabbis, shamans, and healers, she apprenticed with the psychic Susan Saxman, with whom she wrote The Reluctant Psychic. Finn now teaches popular workshops on Getting to Know the Dead, in which participants are empowered to activate the magic in their own lives with the help of their ancestors. She lives with her family in the moss-filled shadows of the Catskill Mountains. In this episode, Perdita will share the miraculous story of how she first discovered that her dead father was not only able to help her, but EAGER to do so. She also shares how a spirit from the other side protected her son in a dramatic way, and the sweet reason WHY. I will also share the miraculous story of the day I received this book, and how it helped me deal with a family loss. I highly recommend you connect with Perdita and check out her upcoming classes and events at https://takebackthemagic.com/.   Key Learnings: Perdita's father was a doctor who was overworked and cranky most of the time. They did not have a good relationship, and after his death, she discovered that he completely disinherited his three children. Not concerned about the money, it was the complete lack of acknowledgement of her as his daughter, that he cared for her in the slightest way that hurt so much. Imagine her surprise when a psychic told her her father wanted to help her! Life is not linear, and we have all the time in the world. What if you believed that? The dead see life from a much broader perspective than we do, and have access to resources that we cannot even imagine.  A simple way to invite your ancestors and loved ones into your life is to create an ancestor altar. When you make room for the dead in your home and life, they will show up and make miracles with you.    “Our ancestors are standing by to help us overcome obstacles, seize opportunities, and make the impossible possible. They long to be involved with us again, and they have resources we cannot imagine.” Perdita Finn Click Here to purchase Take Back the Magic by Perdita Finn Click here to learn about Perdita's upcoming classes If you love the image on the wall behind me of Mother Mary Blessing the World, you can order your own museum quality copy at www.deepaliu.com

You're in for a treat in this episode. At least it was a treat for me to have a conversation with Clark Strand. Clark is a former Zen monk, author, Haiku teacher, and communicator of all things spiritual and religious. He has studied and actually practiced within many, many spiritual and religious traditions so he speaks from actual experience. The focus of today's conversation is on his book, Waking the Buddha: How The Most Dynamic and Empowering Buddhist Movement in History is Changing Our Concept of Religion, but Clark is also the author of Seeds From a Birch Tree: Writing Haiku and the Spiritual Journey, Now Is the Hour of Her Return: Poems In Praise of the Divine Mother Kali, co-author, with Perdita Finn, of The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary, and many other books on poetry, spirituality, and ecology. He is the co-founder of an international, non-sectarian rosary fellowship with members across the world. I invited him on the podcast to talk about Nichiren Buddhism, Soka Gakkai, and chanting, in general. It is a subject I haven't covered on this podcast and the timing was sparked by the recent passing of Tina Turner who was a very public Soka Gakkai practitioner. Although the focus of the conversation began with the Soka Gakkai, it became a fascinating journey to many other areas, due to Clark's wide reach and his spiritual depth. Among many other things, we talked about the folk traditions within all religions. Or, as Clark said, "there is always a religion within a religion." … About how the Soka Gakkai became virtually the only ethnically and  racially diverse Buddhist organization religion in the world… About why Clark states that spirituality needs to be about "ecology not theology" and that the reason the thread that runs through his spiritual experience IS ecology and the folk traditions… And, for fellow Pure Land and Shin practitioners, about how the Pure Land tradition is the only tradition deeply grounded in ecology… About Haiku… About the divine feminine, the Divine Mother, and the rosary as a spiritual and NOT a religious practice … and is, essentially, a tantric mantra practice… About the 12-Steps program… About chanting and how it gives voice to one's intentions, dreams, or hopes … and is the most ancient form of spiritual practice… Listen and enjoy the journey... What if the departed, those we once held dear and even strangers from generations past, are still with us, not only waiting to comfort us, but eager to collaborate with us on creating miracles in our lives. Perdita Finn author of one of my favorite books The Way of the Rose, is here to talk to me about her new book Take Back The Magic, about the wisdom our ancient ancestors embraced, a wisdom that has been suppressed for millennia by religious authorities who wanted to mediate our interactions with the other side in order to retain power over us. Reclaiming our direct intimacy with these relationships can give us unshakeable confidence, empowered intuition, a liberated imagination, and the ability to make miracles happen in the world around us. In this context, miracles are not supernatural feats, but natural, organic occurrences available to everyone. They're simple yet profound moments of connection, of feeling supported, loved, and understood in ways we seldom experience in our day-to-day lives. In this eye-opening episode you'll hear about how profound healing awaits you when you reconnect with your ancestors, allowing you to tap into a sense of belonging and an understanding that comes from recognizing that you are part of a continuum — a cycle of life and death that has neither beginning nor end but is an eternal dance. In this episode: * Rediscovery of ancestral wisdom * Impact of fear and its tactical usage in control * The regular occurrence of miracles and revisiting what that means * Death, forgiveness, and continuation of relationships beyond death * The detrimental effect of domestication on civilization * Navigating trauma and initiating healing with our ancestors' help * Overcoming fear of hauntings and realigning perspectives on manifestations of the dead ps: Join Perdita on Wednesday, July 12, when she'll help you open to the realization thatyou are spirit, you're surrounded by the spirits of your ancestors, and that both the living and the dead are here to work together to create miracles. Find out that the dead are ready and waiting to help you on your healing journey Understand that miracles are organic, natural, and accessible to everyone See that you are never alone — no one dies alone and no one lives alone because the dead are a constant presence in our lives Unearth and*reclaim the suppressed wisdom of your ancestors Recognize that seeds and miracles alike grow in the dark, so there's no need to fear either the dead or the darkness You can register here (https://shiftnetwork.infusionsoft.com/go/rcdp/a25841) for Reclaim Your Connection With the Departed: Discover How to Collaborate With Those on the Other Side to Make Miracles in Your Life: Perdita Finn is the co-founder, with her husband Clark Strand, of the non-denominational international fellowship The Way of the Rose, which inspired their book The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. But ordinary women were living and telling a different story. It was a story that was expressed in a great circle, not in a straight line of patriarchal history.Perdita Finna tells us a story of women's empowerment hidden in plain sight. One of the most radical things that Perdita and Clark ask their fellowship is this: “What do you want? What is your heart's desire?”. Culture, society, and religion tells us what we want and should want. But the lady, the Mother, has planted seeds in each of our hearts and those seeds are particular to each one of our souls. By knowing what those seeds are, we can begin to help them grow through prayer. For Clark and Perdita, the rosary is about reclaiming the miraculous and the miraculous world is the real world that's hidden behind our reality. Behind the corporate façade that we live in, people pray for love, intimacy, connection, healing, joy; meaningful, miraculous things that are much more real than we think.   Clark Strand and Perdita Finn are authors of “The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary”. She is the co-founder of The Way of the Rose, an international rosary fellowship dedicated to the earth and the Lady by any name you like to call Her.She says, “What if our souls were nothing but threads piercing the veil first one way and then another, sewn back and forth eternally? What if the veil didn't separate the worlds but was the world—the whole fabric of existence? From this side, we see only the knots, the tangles, the threads cut short too soon. What if we could feel the long thread of our souls entangling with other threads? What if we could follow a red thread through to the other side of the tapestry as it becomes a dress, a jewel, a rose, a pair of lips, a heart? What if we could glimpse the picture of our lives from the other side? That's what the dead do, of course—they see at last what life is really for. To touch that reality we have only to pull on a thread and wait for the tug on a heartstring.” Personal Websitehttps://wayoftherose.org/Social Media linkhttps://www.facebook.com/perdita.finn/@perditafinn on InstagramSocial Media linkhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/wayoftherose-----Support Caravan of the HeartA podcast...a blisscast, a variety show for the soul by Troubadours of Divine Bliss,  Smiley &  Ananda, a touring folk music duo, inspirational speakers, retreat leaders, and advocates for this planet and its people. On this podcast, we have heart-to-heart conversations around freeing our dreams and amplifying love in all things. The Way of the Rose is one of my most beloved books & in todays episode I have the authors Clark Strand & Perdita Finn on the show. The great healing wisdom of the rosary is that beginnings are arbitrary and endings are temporary. Life is not linear but circular--and the mother that births us and receives our bodies at death stands ready to rebirth us as well. The guidance we need through these mysteries is seeded in our own hearts and when we pray for our heart's desire we can begin to know where we are and where we are supposed to go. Clark Strand and Perdita Finn are the co-authors of The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary (Spiegel & Grau, 2019) and the co-founders of the international fellowship of the same name, devoted to the earth and the Lady "by any name you want to call her." Strand has written numerous books on spirituality and climate change including Waking Up to the Dark: The Black Madonna's Gospel for An Age of Extinction and Collapse (revised edition Monkfish Publishing, Fall 2022) and Now Is The Hour of Her Return (Five Petal Press, 2021. What does it mean to surrender certainty and live within mystery again, to recover the dark wisdom of the dirt and the dead, and to find our way together in an age of chaos and collapse? Since ancient times, roses have symbolized the divine and our creators active presence in our lives. It's also a representation of the gradual process of revelation, healing, and the many layers of wisdom that unfold throughout our lifetime. Roses have also long served as the symbol of "The Lady" and Mother Mary. Mary is closely associated with the rosary, but what most people don't realize is that she is also closely associated with The Goddess Isis. You may be surprised to realize that the rosary has many incredibly mysteries that lead us down the radical path to the divine feminine. Before a vision of the mysterious "Lady" invited Clark and Perdita to pray the rosary, they were not only uninterested in becoming Catholic but finished with institutional religion altogether. Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet.” Why have human beings made beads for over a hundred thousand years? What is a viable spiritual response to the catastrophes of climate change? Why is prayer, and prayer for our own heart's desire, the most radical act of courage in the face of extractive capitalism? How is the rosary, a little old lady's Catholic prayer, the best guide through the labyrinth of modernity? Why is reaching for the hand of the Mother so consoling? How is the divine feminine the emergent energy of our time and what is her invitation? THE WAY OF THE ROSE: The Radical Path to The Divine Feminine Hidden In The Rosary (https://www.amazon.com/Way-Rose-Radical-Divine-Feminine/dp/0812988957/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1637716742&sr=8-1), is truly an incredible story. I consider it essential reading on the path to more deeply connecting with the divine feminine and highly recommend it. Clark Strand and Perdita Finn are the co-authors of The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary, and the founders of an international fellowship by the same name devoted to the earth and the Lady by any name you want to call her. They are committed to re-wilding prayer and our experience of spiritual community. Clark has written numerous books including Seeds from a Birch Tree: Haiku as a Spiritual Practice and Waking Up to the Dark: Ancient Wisdom for a Sleepless Age and connects people to the living world with his workshops on haiku and Finn is the author of the forthcoming Take Back the Magic: Getting to Know the Dead and leads friends into the underworld with her intensives on the dead.

The rosary is one of the most readily identified symbols of Catholic faith yet hold this circle of beads from the loop with its cross dangling down and it reveals the first of its many secrets: The rosary forms a symbol for woman that is far older than Christianity.Bead practices are ubiquitous around the world and lead us back to the spiritual ways of our ancestral grandmothers, gathering nuts and seeds to sustain their communities while murmuring protective prayers, spells, and mantras to guide those they love through life and death. Unlike meditation practices derived from hunting behaviors that privilege stillness and silence, the rosary is a story that invites us to tell our story, listen and bear witness to each other’s joys and sorrows, and reopen the channel of conversation with our plant and animal allies in the natural world.Perdita and Clark will explore the pagan roots of the traditional rosary and its origins in the rose garlands once offered to the Great Mother. We’ll discover how powerful worry beads can be, and have been for tens of thousands of years, and how having something, and someone, to hold on to can infuse our lives with rest and renewal, courage and compassion. In almost every one of Her modern apparitions, the Lady has invited everyone, regardless of religious background or belief, to pray the rosary with Her. Together, holding on to each other and to Her, we will find our way back to the garden of the earth.About Clark and PerditaClark Strand and Perdita Finn are co-founders of The Way of the Rose, an inclusive fellowship of rosary friends dedicated to the Earth and to the Lady “by any name we wish to call Her.” Strand is the author of numerous books and articles on spiritual practices, including Seeds from a Birch Tree: Writing Haiku and the Spiritual Journey and Waking Up to the Dark: Ancient Wisdom for a Sleepless Age.
